[Script]Wipe kernel - Galaxy S III Android Development

This is project for who need change kernel without re-flash rom
So let me call wipe kernel script
First must told I am newbie on it [emoji4]
Now have for 2 kernel
- boeffla
- Agni
I tested only for 4.4.2 without bootloop
Download for wipe boeffla
https://mega.co.nz/#!yNsXwSiZ!GorIhMDkLH_FUv_gWd5whfoioANgOw0tNQ0N6gTC1X8
Download for wipe Agni
https://mega.co.nz/#!XYN0TCCa!Bxc90s3j04sIJtjlaFONMlIeRasXgY0GzCIFrgz5qTk
How to:
- uninstall config app for that kernel
- remove init.d script (only Angi)
- reboot to recovery mode
- flash wipe script
- reboot to recovery mode again (not normal reboot)
- flash your new kernel
- reboot it 's done

Thanks for this useful thread Aonja
Quick question: for wiping AgniKernel you mean remove the WHOLE scripts in init.d folder ?
Thanks

What kernel to choose:
The important part is the Kernel code:
XWLPX-NEE
Kernel code is in red (LPX), for this example, you need an LPX ROM. However, often, you can mix kernels when they are close: LPF kernel with LPG ROM...
NEE code doesn't matter at all, I add it for reference. It is the CSC
XW: mixed, often doesn't matter for close regions. For example, XW and XX are often interchangeable. However, mixing a BU with an XW ROM or inversly, sometimes works, but often ends in a bootloop. In that case, either boot into recovery or download mode to reflash
Using the new MULTI-bootanimation feature ** v2.5 and later **
This is an original feature I introduced. Now you can put all your bootanimations on the phone. On each boot, it will play a different animation from your list.
If you do not install any bootanimation, the stock Samsung animation will play. Also, you can go with the old method of putting only one bootanimation.zip(bin) and it will play only that one. If you decide to go through the MULTI-bootanimations looper, follow below instructions:
name your bootanimations as follow: bootanimation1.zip(bin), bootanimation2.zip(bin)... bootanimationN.zip(bin)
put the zip files in "/data/local" or in "/system/media" folder. The bin animations must go into "/data/local"
reboot, and now, on each boot, it will magically scroll through your animations
priority is to "/data/local/bootanimation*.bin", then "/data/local/bootanimation*.zip" and finally "/system/media/bootanimation*.zip"
info: animation number to play on next boot is stored in "/data/local/bootanimation-loop.txt". If you delete some animations, you should also delete the "bootanimation-loop.txt". It will be reset on next boot. If not, stock Samsung anim could play if loop.txt contains a bigger number than your actual files. In that case, your playlist will be ignored until you delete the loop txt file.
FAQ
These are the top 5 posted questions
Can you implement overclock, voltage control, voodoo, special drivers... ?
This is a stock kernel, not recompiled from source. It is only repacked with changes in ramdisk to add new features and an enhanced cwm based recovery. I do not have plans to start building kernels from source. There are big names in the scene already doing a great job there.
Why I can't see your kernel version Phone / About dialog ?
That's how stock kernels behave. Version info is in build.prop and comes with the ROM. I can add it but won't as it is that way that stock kernels are supposed to work.
You can know the exact kernel version by typing in terminal: getprop
Also, in my recovery, there is an About dialog to give you more info about actual recovery which is also tight to kernel
Why your kernel drains more battery ?
It cannot be. It will act like stock kernel, not better, not worst
Does your kernel perform better than stock ?
Same answer as previous
Why sometimes I need to touch twice to validate an option in recovery ?
This is by design and not a bug. A special feature I added is the option to highlight/validate touched menu. After you scroll in a menu, your first touch will act as select without validation. This is to avoid any false validation during scroll, the worst limitation for many of the actual touch recoveries including original one
Will you implement exFAT support in recovery ?
It is done now, but only for JB as it supports exFat

You found a bug and want to report it:
Before posting about bugs concerning bootloops, kernel not working or recovery issues, please keep this in mind:
this is a pure stock kernel, kernel is just same as stock, except binary patching MMC_CAP_ERASE
if you have issues such as bootloop, first, try to flash the original stock zImage to see if you still have same issues as with my kernel
some custom kernels do not update your build.prop, it is the case with my kernel, as it is a stock kernel. I can add it, but won't for many specific reasons. You can flash a LR9 kernel on a LRT ROM, you will still see LRT in your phone/about. That's also true if you flash a Samsung genuine kernel on a different ROM. So, if you flashed many kernels before, be sure to know on what ROM you are and check potential compatibility issues between kernels in post 2

Before asking for support:
Make sure your issue is recovery related
All external sdcard issues: first format in PC with primary partition, tons of people are formatting as logical and come cry
Reproduce your issue and while in recovery:
Go to Advanced / Report Error
Copy the /sdcard/clockworkmod/recovery.log and attach it here
Give detailed info about your issues
Without these, there is little chance I can help you, so, do not get mad if I do not answer

Recovery (.zip) packages instructions - Will also root your phone * recommanded method *
They come in the form of -signed.zip files that can be flashed in stock recovery 3e: No Yellow Triangle
Download xxx-signed.zip kernel matching your ROM
Put the previously downloaded xxx-signed.zip file on your external sd card
Boot into stock recovery (volume up+home+power)
Select "apply update from external storage".
Now select the xxx-signed.zip file you copied in previous step
You are rooted + new PhilZ-cwm6 kernel with CWM6
Odin packages instructions: ready for root
They come in the form of .tar.md5 file
boot into download mode
start odin3 and configure it as in picture below
connect phone in download mode to PC via USB
press start to flash the tar.md5 package
to root, download the root file from here (Method 1) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746794

<< Boot animation samples >>
- Simplistic ROM boot animation
- AOKP boot animation
download one of the two bootanimations (the simplistic one is worth it)
extract the rar contents : bootanimation.zip file, do not extract the zip file
put the bootanimation.zip file in your /system/media or /data/local folder
on reboot, you get the new animation.
to reset to samsung animation, just delete the bootanimation.zip
< The ZIP version is rooted and can be flashed in stock recovery without yellow triangle >
Note: you can skip superuser installation when flashing using a config file: read this post to know how to use it

Request & Reporting
Request :
If your kernel is not listed above, OR you want to request when new ROM released, post your request with
ROM build version, CSC code as well better if you port zImage file and upload. this will make easy for developer.
Whatever request i see, will update here to this post so Phill can easily locate it. So before posting request, make sure this post doesn't have pending request already for kernel you are looking for.
Pending Request
Report :
As we know this kernel is pure stock kernel + patched mmc earse command + edit Ramdisk
so, posting regarding score(card)of ubuntoo (watever it call ) or quadrant score have nothing to do. Battery management/performance will same as on stock kernel.
Again input battery statistics or comparing with other custom kernel having no meaning. B'coz this is stock kernel and it will be same as stock kernel, no more no less. So kindly avoid such kind of discuss. Right now Phill have not indicate to add tweak to kernel, so no meaning to put request for under/overclocking and so and so. For this you always have choice for custom kernel, there are already nice custom kernels are available on development section. This is only for people want pure stock kernel but patched brick bug with added recovery function. That's it.
Please don't ask/describe here anything which is not related to this kernel. such posting will be consider offending and will be reported to moderator, which i don't like really.
Hope we never need moderator to look into this thread.
Thanks for co operation and Wish you happy flashing.

Feel free to report issues or a successful flash.
At thank you only posters: I appreciate these posts, but just add to them the kernel version you flashed and you are happy with. That way, we know it works
Happy wipe /data in recovery
BUT, PLEASE, DO NOT BLAME ME EVER IF YOU BRICK YOUR PHONE. ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR DATA BEFORE ANY FLASH; EVEN IN SAMSUNG KIES
edit:
Feel free to request upload of new kernels. Just give me these info:
Kernel exact 5 char name: DDLR9 for example
CSC code it was released on: AUT...
A download link for the zImage only
or
A fast mirror to the whole ROM (no hotfile.com...)
or
country and phone operator it was released for, so that I can get it in Fus

It will work on any custom ROM that supports a stock kernel
This is basically a stock kernel
If you move from DDLR9 to PhilZ-cwm6 DDLR9, then no need to wipe /cache or dalvik. Kernel is same, only patched + edit RAMdisk for features

HOW TO INSTALL
1.(RECOMMENDED) Be on a stock ROM, installation will be cleaner
2.Download THIS EXT4 tool, the Kernel and the Rom on your device.
3.Flash on Samsung recovery (or your recovery if you are not on stock), my temp. CWM.
4.When you are on the Temp. CWM, flash the EXT4 Formatter tool, so whole system will be converted to EXT4. (Stock filesystem is RFS)
5.After the installation, flash my kernel you have downloaded before.
6.When the Kernel is installed, go, on the CWM, to advanced --> reboot recovery (this will reboot the device, and turn it on on the new CWM of kernel)
7.Wipe data, cache and dalvik
8(IMPORTANT) Go to mounts and storage, and make sure system is mounted (will show unmounted) mount it 2 times!
9.Go to install zip from SD Card, choose zip from SD card and install your Androidiani-Experience-FINAL. (MAKE SURE installation last more than 5 seconds, if is less than 5 secodns, your system is unmounted! repeate step 8).
10.After installation, go back and reboot system, if you made it good, ROM boots, so no problem on it.

*/
LineageOS 16.0 for Samsung Note N7000
Beware, you are about to enter a dangerous zone!
ABOUT
This is an unofficial Pie build for the Galaxy Note (N7000) based on LineageOS 16.0.
Read the sections below carefully to understand the status of this ROM and how to prepare your device for installation.
CREDITS
All my builds are fully based on works by @rINanDO, @bauner, @ChronoMonochrome, fourkbomb, numerous n7000, Exynos4 and LineageOS developers. Full credits goes to all the developers. I hope no one is being left out, please notify me if there is.
INSTALLATION FROM STOCK
Follow these steps if you are coming from stock. You will need access to a PC.
1. Prepare Odin, Samsung USB Drivers, PhilZ CWM Odin Flashable, and your phone with a stable USB connection.
2. Install the Samsung USB Drivers and fire up Odin.
3. Select AP and choose the PhilZ CWM Odin Flashable package.
4. Proceed to flash. Once done, reboot your device into recovery.
5. You should be in CWM recovery now. Flash this zip to get TWRP IsoRec: 20210209-boot_n7000-twrp_i9100_3311.zip
6. Reboot recovery. You should now enter TWRP IsoRec recovery. Proceed to the installation steps below, except for step 2.
INSTALLATION
All my builds are emulated storage capable. Repartition is required to install my builds.
And also, please backup EFS partition and store in a dry, safe place.
The below instructions assumes that your device has TWRP IsoRec installed, and all your data will be destroyed in the process.
1. Choose your desired emulated storage partitioning configuration:
- Android 9/10 capable: lanchon-repit-20170115-system=1.5G+wipe-data=max+wipe-sdcard=min+wipe-preload=min+wipe-n7000.zip - Android 7.1.2 capable: lanchon-repit-20170115-system=1G+wipe-data=max+wipe-sdcard=min+wipe-preload=min+wipe-n7000.zip* Emulated + Non-emulated Internal Storage: change the values of -sdcard=min+wipe to -sdcard=4G+wipe, where 4G is your desired non-emulated Internal Storage size. The last option provides best compatibility, as non-emulated storage ROMs will work as intended on such partitioning, and emulated storage ROMs will detect the non-emulated storage as an SD Card (only in Android 7).This allows you to switch back-and-forth between emulated capable and non-emulated capable ROMs without repartitioning.2. Reboot into recovery. Flash emulated storage capable TWRP IsoRec (flash as Image to Recovery): i9100-LOS-16.0-Emulated-Storage-TWRP-3.3.1-1.img
3. Reboot recovery. Flash i9100-to-n7000 TWRP conversion: lanchon-twrp-patcher-20160417-n7000.zip
4. Reboot recovery. Flash the repartition script that you have chosen in Step 1.
5. Reboot recovery. Wipe /cache, /system, Non-emulated Storage. Then, run Format Data.
6. Proceed to flash my builds.
7. Flash ARM nano GAPPS and SU if desired, or boot_magisk.img if you need Magisk support.
8. Prepare a coffee or tea and sit back on your couch. Click to reboot system, BUT DO NOT SWIPE TO INSTALL TWRP APP or you will end up in a bootloop!
9. Remember to install Magisk Manager if you need Magisk support.

Hello,
We will have Android Pie on N7000 !!!!
Great and thank you !!!
I will buy a new battery for my Note I think.
Oh my god!
Got my N7000 out of the closet and charging it right now! Gonna flash this right away!
Thank you, @lee.wp14
@lee.wp14, it works! It actually works great!
I am not having any connectivity problems with WiFi and bluetooth detection seems to be working fine.
I just have one question, when in TWRP, I can see two partitions, Emulated Storage and Non Emulated Storage.
But once in Android, I can only see Emulated Storage, the Non Emulated Storage seems to be completely missing. Any way I can fix that? Or better, merge both the partitions (not sure if that would though)?

Non-Emulated storage is not mounted in android, so it won't appear (this is a expected behaviour). I'm not sure if we can actually have 3 storage at once. With repit script we can't delete partitions thus with the sdcard=min parameter the sdcard will be resized to a minimum of ~7mb, and this partition is being removed from the fstab in kernel.

I see, thank you for this information.
I will try repartitioning in the next build.
Right now, the ROM is working great!
GREAT! I am eager to try it as soon the RIL works! (still using this ancient phone as a backup)
Release 20190522
CHANGELOG
20190522
- Removed unused LTE network option in Settings
- Fixed GPS and RIL functionality
- Fixed QS Flashlight 10 seconds wakelock issue (thanks to ChronoMonochrome and rINanDO)
- New cursor icon for stylus (thanks to ComicoTeam)
- Added xt_hl support in kernel
Notes:
- Be patient when the phone is booting up, if you have a sim lock, wait a while before entering the PIN because telephony stuffs might still be loading. You will get SIM unlock failed error if the telephony stuffs are not loaded finish yet. We are using a 2018/2019 Android on a 2011 phone, be patient
- GPS is tested OK personally by me prior to this release. If you can't get a fix or detect any satellites, make sure your GPS antenna connection is ok.
- Due to upstream changes, we are currently using Autosleep driver to let the phone enter a suspend state (doze). A shorter standby time should be expected.
- Builds are not SafetyNet OK and also not pre-rooted. If you want root, you may flash the addonsu package from LineageOS's website.
- Builds have signature spoofing enabled by default (thanks to rINanDO), you may take advantage of this to replace GAPPS with MicroG.
- This build is tested OK with GAPPS (pico ARM 9.0), please expect a longer boot time if GAPPS is installed.
- I'm not sure why, but earlier before this after I made some changes in the sources, the USB dialog won't show in Notifications panel anymore. To change USB operating mode, go to Settings > Connected Devices > USB
Quote:
1. Make sure you have at least a working TWRP 3.x IsoRec on your device. If no, proceed to bauner's LOS13.0 thread for installation steps.
2. Flash this recovery by rINanDO: TWRP-3.1.0-EMU-MIGRATION-M-20170318-noassert.zip (under directory n7000/misc/recovery)

That means I need to flash TWRP twice from stock recovery?

Yes and No. Yes, you need to flash TWRP twice (one is normal TWRP and another is emulated storage compatible TWRP), but No, not from stock recovery. If you are from stock, you need to flash a custom kernel first which has the prebuilt CWM recovery. We cannot flash normal ZIPs under stock recovery, we will need a custom recovery like CWM and TWRP to flash ZIPs.
To make things clearer, here is a detailed list on instructions to prepare for it:
> If you are from stock ROM
1. Flash this kernel (with CWM prebuilt recovery) using Odin: PhilZ-cwm6-XXLT6-XSA-5.06.1.tar.md5
2. Reboot device to recovery. Flash this IsoRec-compatible kernel from bauner: Nightowl-lineage13-20171029-n7000-kernel_only.zip
3. After that, flash this TWRP IsoRec recovery from bauner: recovery-twrp3.1.0-build2-isorec-n7000.zip
4. Reboot recovery. You should now have a working TWRP 3.x IsoRec Recovery. Proceed from Step 2 below in section "If you are from custom ROM".
> If you are from Custom ROM
1. Do you have a TWRP 3.x IsoRec Recovery? If no, then go back to Step 2 in above section "If you are from Stock ROM" to get a working TWRP 3.x IsoRec Recovery.
2. Reboot recovery. You may now proceed starting from Step 2 in the instructions written in OP.

Can you reconfirm the situation and possibly list out your procedures?

First, my n7000 is in Stock rom.
I flash Philz-cwm recovery.tar with odin and boot into recovery .
And then I flash Nightowl-lineage13-kernel.zip with philz-CWM. And reboot into recovery
Then flash twrp 3.1.0-isorec.zip and reboot into recovery
And Twrp3.1.0-isorec is working fine (but i can't boot to stock rom)
So i start doing step-2( that you tell for n7000 pie rom installation )
I flash Twrp 3.1.0 EMU-Migration--noassert.zip from Twrp3.1.0 isorec(installation complete, done!)
So, I reboot into recovery again.
But then, loop in samsaung logo - boot again and again.
Can't go to Twrp
Thank for your reply.

Can you flash back to stock to make sure everything is still OK and repeat the procedures again and stop before the step of flashing the twrp emu isorec.
Instead, extract the boot.img from the rom zip and copy to phone (you can do it using TWRP usb mtp) or sdcard, inside TWRP choose inage flash mode, and flash the boot.img to Boot partition.
Next restart to TWRP again. If you can go into twrp then you may try flashing the twrp emu isorec. See if it works this time.
Dear Lee.wp
Thank you for the contribution to PIE ROM...
Could you please let us know, whether this ROM is OK to use Magisk or not?
Appreciate the reply from you in advance...^^

Galaxys2/n7000 won't support magisk as our kernel 3.0.101 does not support namespace, which is required for magisk to operate.
Is this ROM Treble based?
