Planning on rooting/modding my build number DMD64, firmware 1.6 G1 later tonight

I am planning on rooting/modding my build number DMD64, firmware 1.6 G1 later tonight.
It looks like I need to follow these instruction to create a goldcard:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6026741
http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/
And then these instructions to root the phone:
http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/22/how-to-root-the-mytouch-3g-or-g1-in-one-click/
I am leaning toward the SuperD ROM.
Anything to add? Thanks.
I take the no reply to mean I am on the right track.
Am I doing something wrong here? This is a Q&A forum, and I am asking if I am on the right track, but I am not getting any kind of confirmation. Anyone willing to help me? Thanks.
I am also doing the same tonight. Please let me know if there is anything else I need to know or do. Much appreciated...
Let me know how it goes. Thanks.
It worked, you don't need to worry about the goldcard, just get the dream.img file or however its spelled and put it on your sd.
Could you be more specific about what exactly you did? Which link/procedures did you follow? Thanks.
Use these instructions. I have been using theunlockr.com as my source for how-to's and walk thru's because he makes them very simplistic.
http://theunlockr.com/2010/04/26/how-to-root-the-htc-g1dream/
I don't like sending you away from XDA but the guys at theunlockr.com took the time to make an outstanding tutorial that they updated a week ago.
I liked it so much, I even commented on their page. Follow the instructions carefully and you won't have any problems.
Good luck,
~DM
Do you need to have a different sd card for root access? Or does the sd card that comes with the original G1 from Tmobile ok? Planning on rooting here shortly if you can use the regular sd card.

No you don't have to have a different sdcard. What the original poster is talking about is a goldcard which is needed for some rooting techniques. As long as you have a T-Mobile G1 and you are in the United States, then THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO YOU. Use your regular sdcard and follow the unlockr.com directions

Have you tried flashing any of the OneClick packages? They should still work since you have a locked bootloader.

No Devo7v, through my roughly 15 hours of internet research I have not come across a 1 click fix. Just when I thought I was getting good and learning how to move around the android system I bricked. I don't mind paying for my mistakes and learning from them, but I do definitely not want to have to purchase a new phone. I bought the active because it was compact with a descent size screen, nice hardware, remote control, hdmi to tv and I liked the waterproof dustproof feature that I never even tried because I don't trust how waterproof this phone really is. I think It is a great phone when up and running.
P.S. I really appreciate your quick knowledgable response.

I suggest choosing which firmware you would like to flash from the i537 Firmware Thread, download it, and flash it with Odin. If you're currently on ML2, your only option is to reflash ML2 since the ML2 bootloader will not allow you to downgrade to any other version. Before you do anything I would do a little research on Odin so you understand how it works. Far and away, most people that have bricked their phones did it by using Odin incorrectly.

Yes you are most likely correct. I just might be trying to read the wrong software from sd. The times I've tried I get authorization errors.

I will definitely read up on odin. My phone is currently at 2nd local cell repair store this week. I called them to have it ready for pick up if they cant fix it today, which I have my doubts. They usually are just phone salespeople that can do a typical flash or change a screen. So this evening or tomorrow morning I will give your recommendation a shot. And when I do and my phone is back up and running I will gladly donate funds to your site or directly to you. I will shoot you a pm tomorrow to touch base.....I should have went this route before I tried these useless cell phone stores around here. I'm sure this post will help many others too....

You don't need to worry about donating anything, I actually have never accepted donations. If you want to send some money, please send it to a charity you feel is worthwhile. If you really want to pay me back, please read as much as you can on everything and try to help others out when they ask questions or need help. The S4 Active is a small community, so we need as many people contributing to the forums as possible.
If you run into trouble with Odin or anything, let me know.

Thank you so much, like I expected repair store was unable to fix my phone. I took it home and was up and running in 5 minutes with the 1 click fix.
Your the man......I am now researching uprading to 4.3.. I am still however having this issue of apps not working after moving them to sd card....Are there any app to sd apps you prefer over others, I'm not sure where the issue is arising from.

Flashing 4.3 isn't that much harder then flashing the one-click, you just need to read and make sure you put things in the right spot.
As for apps top SD, I don't move my apps so I really can't give you much advice.

[Q] Delete files from external SD card

Hi,
I just got Galaxy 5 and I see that I cannot delete files from the external SD card. System tells me that due to Android security deleting files from external SD card is not permuted. Is there some way to circumvent it?. Please give your opinion. Thanks

It still require device to be rooted. With this change Google effectively killed one of the best features of android. The external al SD card is made useless. Might as well get iPhone.

You arent even rooted yet? Lol. I think you're a little like me. We are lazy and ask questions before checking the FAQs. You should really go and read it. They will solve the problems you have and maybe even help you solve problems that you might not even know about or have in the future.
You can get a root for your s5 (and i think any android phone) by going to towelroot.com on your phone. Just click the button download, install, and run. Restart your phone, then you can do sdfix or the other app the other guy recommended then restart again.
Here is the FAQ as well: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697270

Can I downgrade the firmware on my Verizon Note 8? Please read below

Good Morning/Afternoon Ladies & Gents,
I currently have the US Verizon Note-8. I just recently updated it to U4CRF3 firmware. Is there any way that I can downgrade it to U3 that way I can root my device. I tried to do research the last 30-minutes and was unsuccessful on finding if anything has been posted pertaining to this. So, I apologize in advanced if I missed it.
Thanks in advance, again for all that you all do here. It really is greatly appreciated. Just trying to get this taken care of so I can begin the Root process on my device.
The U4 indicates the bootloader version, you can not go back to U3, as I have read around here
Damn lol. That sucks. So, as of right now. I am **** out of luck if I want to root my phone?
Thank you again.

Pretty much man. I ended up going back to stock and thought it was a good idea to update. Big mistake. Now I miss root even more. Hopefully SamFail will get figured out for U4.
