Hi all...I'm looking to get a smart watch. I have been reading up a lot but still have more to go. This is the way I see it so far.
Original gear...can root and run a custom ROM.
Gear 2/neo. Can root but not much else at moment. I do like this one and the original. I like the fact you can reply to text and answer calls. Not sure how much support this will get.
Android wear. Seems to me to take full advantage you need to use Google now and I don't. I find it really drains my battery.
I'm still reading up on android vs tizen.
Am I looking at these the correct way? So far I prefer gear/gear 2 over android wear. Anyone have any input or correct anything I may have said that is wrong?
I also posted this in another thread as wasn't sure right place.

I have had the Gear Live for 10 minutes. Get a Gear 2. Just the ability to talk on the watch itself is a deal breaker.

Using the Gear 2 Neo and it's been pretty good. I'm using it with a Moto X (& iPhone 5S) and love it. The ability to hear and answer calls has come in handy when the phone is charging. The new Android Wear watches advantage here is they are fully compatible with any android 4.3 and up but if you don't use Google now the other ones should be good for you. I also have the Pebble in case you haven't thought about it and under sunlight it's clear as day.

Thanks for your input! So you have the gear 2 neo working on moto x? Do most things work for you? I really hate TW lol. I was reading the thread on getting it to work on non Samsung phones but everything was hit and miss. If I could get it to work on a custom ROM it would be perfect

I followed one of the threads to get everything I needed installed to get gear manager working. Have the galaxy s3 but custom ROM. Everything seemed to install OK. Went to bestbuy and reset one of the watches to test. Opened tea manager and it started scanning. Saw the neo and the phone said it was connecting. But that's all it did. Just sat on that screen and would not connect.

Were you able to see if it paired in the phones settings? Also did you install the gear manager stub apk, not sure if that would make a difference though. Can you link the thread you used?

Sure. This is the thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723862
On the phone on the gear manager screen it did show the watch and said it was connected. If I tapped on it it would show the screen as its trying to connect but never would. On the watch screen it just sat there as if nothing was connected. I did install the managerstub apk. I did everything in the OP of that thread except changing my buildprop info. I didn't think I would need to as its an s3 which is supported. I saw there was some kind of connection fix to install but it said it was for nexus I believe.

Not into the concept of modding this thing to suit me. My brothers sg3 is just so much more usable out of the box. I guess I just don't get it. Off to somewhere that has a sales board.
What a useless thread......
Can you give it to me?
The Nexus 4 is perfectly usable out of the box. It just doesn't come with 20,000 useless features like the SIII out of the box.

That makes no sense at all. This is the phone that works fluidly out of the box, while the SGS3 is the one you have to mod and optimize so that you undo w/e crap that Samsung + carrier (such as AT&T) put on there. Which is also the reason I got this phone.
Most people on this forum will talk about optimizing the phone beyond it's already current butter-ness, being that this is a developer's forum, but you don't have to do them. The only thing I've really done to this phone is unlock the bootloader (which you don't have to do unless you want to install custom ROM's and such).
Not sure how the SGS3 is, but I had to go through a bit with the SGS2 before it got to the level that the Nexus' are at.
Cool story bro.

Its ok
Its ok guys if he likes the s3 better. Dont complain about peoples opinions, thats why they are called opinions.
I agree with him, although I am sticking with the nexus 4. The samsung galaxy s3 is way better in stock form except for the extra bloatware. The s3 lock screen have easy access to phone app and such, the stock video player and gallery does much more then nexus and play all type of file, s3 also have unread read dot on the phone and mesage. The led notification is better stock on s3 then the nexus. Also other stuff, which may be useless but it's there if you need it like pop up player. For the nexus, I have to to download bunch of app and mod it to make it better. One of the reason I left apple is because it doesn't have much feature out of the box even if I don't need it.
On the off chance you are serious, if there is something you can't figure out I'm sure we can help.

I mentioned in another thread a couple of days ago that Verizon had the Smart Dock, and that it was shipping. Came today, and all I can say is...WOW. I am running Jedi, and the orientation is landscape, NOT portrait as claimed elsewhere...I added no new app to automatically change this, so it is either baked in to the ROM or in Nova. Either way, it is badass. Get one.
Thanks! I'm assuming with a stock rom it'll be portrait, but that's fixable according to at least one video I saw.
Edit: I'm kind of surprised Verizon was the first to get these in an nobody else seems to have them yet. I think people aren't even getting them from Samsung yet.

Yeah, I got tired of waiting. I heard in my other thread (where I was b!tching about the dock not being available yet) that Verizon had them...it was the day before they shipped the Note 2 to their customers. Lo and behold, the order went through and an hour later it was sent via 2nd day delivery. If you don't mind paying full price ($99), they are still in stock at Verizon (or at least they were this morning when I checked).

Judging by the close up picture it looks like there is indeed a case on the sgn2. From what I remember from the videos it has like a spring loaded injection port. Yes! In fact, you can see in the close up pic that I have an official Samsung hard case on mine. They made the dock really cleverly in this regard. The bottom where the phone actually sits is spring-loaded, so it will accommodate a number of case sizes. I'll try to make a video of that.
Also, my boss has the S3, and I heard people theorizing that it should work in the dock. It doesn't, at least not completely. The display out works, but the USB doesn't.

From what I understand, the dongle is merely a wireless streaming device. The dock charges the phone, allows 3 usb inputs, HDMI, and audio out. Essentially, your Note II turns into a mini desktop computer/media device. I spent the remainder of the day yesterday after it arrived at my office actually doing all of my work on it (emails, web, etc). It worked amazingly well.
I see that only the Galaxy S4 and Note 3 are listed for Galaxy gear support for phone. When 4.3 comes to the note 2 any idea if the Galaxy Gear will be supported? Maybe someone will be able to create a custom firmware with this if not?

AT&T may get it in October, but you won't, at least not officially.
Just b/c the Note 2 will support Gear, doesn't mean the Note 2 will get 4.3. They could just roll out an app through the Samsung app store to make it compatible.

They NEVER officially said. There were plenty of unofficial reports of skipping 4.2 to 4.3, but nothing from Samsung.
No mystery, just don't want people to be surprised if it doesn't come soon if at all. Samsung wants to sell the Note 3, holding the 4.3 update back on the Note 2 makes sense. They could just cook up an app to make it compatible to Gear.
Look at the Galaxy S3 and S4 by comparison. The S4 released, the S3 sailed along with 4.0/4.1.

When it comes to updates, it's not just a matter of which phone but also which carrier. For example, I can guarantee you that Verizon will be dead last to introduce the update. Also, don't expect your Note 2 after the update to function like S4/N3. Samsung is not stupid enough to give away freebies for your old phone; they want you to buy a new phone model now.

wishful thinking? or do you have additional info to support it?
In theory, once it's released and rooted - it will support everything lol!!! But considering a hefty price tag I don't think it might get as much attention from developers community. Remember Sony? It got VERY popular once LiveView was available for $20 brand new on ebay and original SmartWatch was down to $99.
Price price price?
Hi, I really love this tablet lineup alot. I have the tf300t and it has alot of Developer Support. I love this brand specifically because it allows me to type up school related documents when I need to and has an awesome battery life. I wanted to get the TF701, but it seems completely empty on the developer support. Why is this? Is it a crappy tablet? Does no one care about this tablet anymore?
If this isn't a suggested tablet, what is a suggested one that has a keyboard with it?

Hey man, I seriously am so appreciative for all you work man. I used CROMI-X all the time on my tf300t. Your Rom and the AOSP roms motivated me to stay with the tf300t. You have done an awesome job and I appreciate all your time with your ROMS.
I guess I have gotten spoiled with having the opportunity of tasting all the different Roms Available for devices like the the Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S4 and the TF300t.
I was just curious if the lack of developers on this tablet made me think there was a serious issue with the tablet.
Now doing some research, even the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet doesn't have much developer support either even after being so popular.

I agree, that TF701 performs pretty darn well with the stock rom. While the TF700 begged for custom roms (to solve issues like the need to turn off FSYNC), it took me a lot longer to unlock the device and install the customized sbdags version. His version is awesome, but I agree that the need is not as apparent as it was on previous devices, presumably because the hardware is better.
That being said, it also seems like the user base for the TF701 is not quite there either....
Maybe cause the 701T just came out recently?
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
I wonder if it might be also because the tegra 3 has been around since the tf300? along with the nexus 7. So they had something to work from. I dont know if that has anything to do with it though.
Stock when rooted is just so good, for me at least. I would hate to lose the productivity apps built into the stock Rom if I change it.

Sbdags is a God, there is no question about it. His efforts and those of the other developers are the reasons Android is so great.
I wonder if the custom rooms have this feature present in the stock Rom where I could just bring up floating apps by just clicking the button on the left.
P.S. Don't know why the attached screenshot is blurry. It is clear when viewed through the gallery.

CROMi-X has all of those: Splendid, Pop-up apps, dock works perfectly......
There have been PAC nighties for a while. I just came across them by checking their site. Don't know why there's no thread. It's pretty good.
Guys uninstall the old package pro and download version 6.3 from this website. They disabled the urgentfwupdate from version 6.6 which will allow samsung to send updates to our phones.

Wil these 4 checked box, block all future updates?

Quick question, My N7 is not rooted. I've tried it it seemed to be working when I checking the boxes? Also, will it block all future updates?

Im not sure exactly how you would expect any of us to know if it will block future updates.
Nothing in life is guaranteed and we obviously cant predict if samsung finds a way to force the updates despite being blocked....its common sense really.
That said it blocked the first BS update on my exynos and its blocked the current BS update on my snapdragon so we are 2 for 2 lol
Im just happy its working still

Samsung Pay
Hey guys I have a Samsung Pay question, I factory data reset my phone to get rid of the update, installed package disabler pro stopped the update successfully... however when I reinstalled Sammy Pay I cannot complete the setup with my fingerprint, iris, both, nor the pin... Only disabled the software updates and left all bloatware active... How can I get one of my favorite features back?
Any help appreciated
Anyone know where I can get the previous note 7 app to get around this bull crap lock down?

Thank you force70, completely missed it. I've seen you in several threads. You know your stuff.
I am thankful for all those who have contributed to helping us get our note 7s back.
Thank you soulja4187 and force70, and everyone else who helped.
Next big dilemma: Been hearing they may block our IMEI#s since we are not giving up our note 7s. Can we hide or disable this act?

We can't stop them from blocking if that actually happens.

Old news at This point, that was announced last week.
It remains to be seen where else it will happen though. I will be very surprised if they do that here or in the US honestly.
But if they do no biggie...

you say no biggie, is there a link or an existing thread about this?

Hi guys. Does this APK (on first post) require validation/authentication for it to work? From what I understand, even you buy on Playstore it won't activate this older version.
---------- Post added at 11:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:17 AM ----------
I've just read on Playstore reviews that "buying lastest version then replacing with this version" doesn't work anymore. Any other alternatives? Is a custom ROM the best option at the moment? I currently don't have the 60% battery OTA update installed, just the green battery icon at 100% (charging very slow). Thanks.
