[Q] HTC One dual sim 802w - Soft bricked - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys
I'm getting really frustrated, i've spend all my free time the last 4 days, trying to get my HTC One to boot.
It's stuck at the white HTC logo, and then it just loops.
It is rooted via HTCDEV unlock token.
I can enter HBOOT and Recovery (CWM 6.0.4.8.7 or TWRP_2.7.0.0_M7CDUG_802w) It's hard to find recovery's for the 802w model.
I've tried with alot of different rums and boot img's, always the same, stuck at the white HTC logo.
What i am trying right now, is to restore it from a backup (i've tried with 3 different)
It's going well untill the CWM tries to mount /data, then i just get "can't mount /data"
I'm able to use fastboot and adb (only in recovery mode)
Here are my spec:

in most cases, "can't mount /data" error is caused by a corrupted partition either because you have previously flashed a recovery or a rom not compatible for your phone variant. HTC One have different partition layout from variant to other, so when you flash something not for your phone, you are corrupting the partitions.
Use TWRP version for your phone variant
select "wipe" --> "format data"
then in "advanced wipe" select both system and cache and then swipe to wipe
then adb push your rom or backup again to /sdcard and flash/restore it.

Hey
Thanks for your reply - Much appreciated.
In TWRP (2.7.0.0)
When i try to install this zip (802w one) :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50532504&postcount=290&nocache=1&z=4123874499928206 i get;
E:Unable to open zip file.
Error flashing zip "/external_sd/PN07IMG 802w.zip
When i try to use a backup restore (M7 CWM Nandroid Backup CID HTC 102 1.29.401.12 2013-05-16 from here http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/stock-nandroid-downloads/)
i get:
E: No partitions selected for restore
I use a external SD card, and not adb push - Could that cause the issue?
Can you recommend me a good RUM that would work on my 802W?

Hahaha ROM!!
I'll try and push MaximusHD_2.0.0 to /sdcard and install it via twrp install.
Do i need to install the boot.img via fastboot, or does the twrp install handle that aswell?

for the M7_UL this is not required to flash boot.img like for other htc phones, but I don't know for the M7_DWG, I guess no.

Okay, so i pushed it to /sdcard - but it's not visable in the twrp installer. I tried to reboot, still empty.
adb didn't give any error:
adb push "D:\htc backup\HTC_One_DualSIM_-_MaximusHD_2.0.0.zip" "\sdcard"
4105 KB/s (1187068611 bytes in 282.395s)
I can't see it in the twrp file manager either - could it be because my phone is attached as "recovery" in adb?
adb start-server
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
adb devices
List of devices attached
HT43MW900234 recovery
Can i install it via my external sdcard or via fastboot?

I used a toolkit, which said "File Destination...Use \ NOT / or // !" under Push. The " are just from the output it gave.
Now i've done it with cmd useing the command you replied.
I installed it and it's working perfect :highfive: Thank you so much for your help!

Have you installed adb and fastboot on you Pc?
If yes, boot into fastboot usb, copy the attached file to the fastboot folder
open cmd in the folder with the adb and fastboot driver and write
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-vivo.img
boot than again into bootloader and select recovery
than toggle usb mount, copy this file downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/su-3.0-efgh-signed.zip to you sd card
than disconnect, install zip from sd card and select the superuser zip file.
after that reboot and you're rooted
There would be enough tutorials, but today i'm really "nice"... unbelieveable.
Thanks for your help, and the files, i will try that tonight.
I had just started reading the tutorials and looking at apps like Gingerbreak etc, would have taken me a while to figure out the best option, so much appreciated, thanks again.

No, you should not need ENG S-OFF to flash a custom recovery. If you are using a Windows PC, besides the adb.exe and fastboot.exe have you installed the HTC drivers?
Yes i installed them all including the HTC Sync and then uninstalled HTC Sync as suggested, perhaps it did not leave the drivers when i did that, I will look into it.
Thanks, i was not sure if i needed ENG S-OFF.

Could you cut and paste the whole command window so we can see the Fastboot command you typed as well as the error response you get.

On second thought, the reason the fastboot flash recovery command is failing is that even though you have S-OFF, the HBOOT is locked and some of the fastboot commands are disabled, thus the "remote: not allowed" message.
I have attached a PG32IMG.zip file that you can copy to your SD card (copy the file and rename it PG32IMG.zip) and then boot into HBOOT and it will flash CWM recovery from the zip file.
Then you can boot into CWM recovery and flash the su-3.0 zip file to gain root.

OK, thanks. Give the attached PG32IMG.zip file in my other post a shot. That should work and get CWM installed and then you can flash su-3.0.zip in recovery mode.

Thanks again, i believe it worked, so i deleted the PG32IMG and have now copied su-3.0-efgh-signed to the sd card.
Now in HBOOT it has
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
SIMLOCK
HBOOT USB
IMAGE CRC
how do i go about running the 'su-3.0-efgh-signed.zip' do i do it from here?

Going back to the instructions listed above, select RECOVERY and that should put you in ClockworkMod Recovery. Use the Volume Up Down keys to select a menu item and push the Power button to select it.
First I would make a backup by selecting the 'backup and restore' menu.
Next you would choose the 'install zip from SDcard' and then 'choose zip file from SDcard' Select the SU-3.0....zip file
Then select the 'reboot system now'
Unfortunately i already did it, so did not get to backup , everything seems to have gone well, but now titanium backup and superuser do not seem to work, says no root access still, titanium said something about busybox?
Strange as everything seem to go well after your help.

What does the Superuser app do when you try to launch it?
It comes up with a white screen with apps and logs listed at the top under the superuser logo, the logs have a couple of items listed that were denied, like lucky patcher and titanium.

Do you have Terminal Emulator app? You could dowload that and then run it. On the terminal screen then type the command 'su' and hit the Return key. You should get a prompt from the Superuser app to allow and then the prompt in the terminal window should change to a #.

If you can still access CWM recovery then you're far from disaster. There's a lot more you could do. Try flashing a Sense 5 rom. If nothing works you could always restore to defaults with an RUU. In fact, if you want to convert your phone to GPe then you could use the tutorial for that on here somewhere.

Ok. Let me be more clear. I'm stuck in a bootloop on an HTC one Dev Editon running GPE with S-ON. I have no backup and I can't access the phone's internal memory to put another rom.zip in there and try to flash it. Whenever i plug it in my PC it never recognizes it. plus i've been having a bunch of problems installing the HTC drivers on at Win Vista 32bit. I really dont know what to do. I can access the bootloader and CMWR but thats it.
Please help me!

You need to use one of the following:
1. adb push
2. adb sideload
3. OTG cable
Ok I'm guessing the OTG route is the easiest? What do I need to do once I get an OTG cable?

actually adb sideload is probably the easiest, from a command window
adb devices
(verify you phone are detect)
adb sideload name_of_the_rom_file.zip
(Wait the file is transfered to phone and recovery flash)
you should have a adb/fastboot folder from when you unlocked the bootloader. put the rom you want to sideload in the same folder as adb

*Stock ROM
*Android/HTC Drivers and ADB soft
Connect your HTC in fastboot usb.
Flash image by:
fastboot flash recovery stock_recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot
type fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip filename.zip
An error will appear, and you will have to type again fastboot flash zip filename.zip

yeah I suppose so ..
adb and fastboot are programs that work with htc phones ..you run them from a command prompt (dos box).
their are a bunch of commands that do different stuff
I post the things you need to do above
here is the files needed to make fastboot/adb work
extract them to c:\fastboot - create the folder if you need to
you also have to ensure you have HTC drivers installed
their here >> http://www.mediafire.com/download/j55vk6qbbr6250c/HTCDriver_4.8.0.002.exe
to test open fastboot folder / shift/right click in the folder and choose
command prompt here
in the window that opens type adb devices and you should get a serial number ... do this when you phone is siting in recovery and plugged in to the pc

You can also download HTC sync manager. It will install drivers for you + the crappy htc sync soft. When the install finish, uninstall htc sync, the drivers will still be there.
when your drivers are correctly installed you should see those 2 lines in windows device manager

[Q] Stuck at bootloader Twrp working can´t save to sd

Hello i have a problem with my HTC one.
I´ve installed Twrp 2.6.3.3 on my phone and Android Revolution HD 31.5 for a long time without any problem (**** never touch a running system).
I´ve seen that that there is a new Android Revolution HD 52.0 so I installed it per TWRP, it worked good but I had some Problems with WLAN / Wifi and so I decided to reflash to Android Revolution HD 31.6. Something went wrong and now I can boot into my TWRP but I can´t send a Zip file to the internal sd so that I can flash it again by revovery.
I know that I made a mistake as I decided to wipe my phone with twrp and made a advanced wipe and made a cross on Dalvik cache, System, Cache Data and internal Storage.
So the result is if I make fastboot getvar all -> see hopefully the jpg
If I start adb devices ->see picture
If I start fastboot devices -> see picture
How can I send a zip file to the internal sd card ???
How can I make a picture of my bootloader, twrp and so on???
Help.
Greetings oliholimoli
ADB works in TWRP or OS only. toy should be on 2.6.3.3.
Now, when you click install in TWRP, does it say 0 Mb?

I´ve started into twrp 2.6.3.3 hit install and there stands: Select zip to install Storage: Internal storage (26001MB) and one column down /sdcard and nothing else because i wiped everything in Twrp. If I could send a zipped Rom to the sd card, I think I am able to install it. (It worked a lot of times before I decided to make the mistake to wipe everything.
How can I send a zip file to the sd card using fastboot or adb ??
Greetings

in custom recovery, either
1- adb push <name of rom>.zip /sdcard/
or
2- adb sideload <name of rom>.zip

With sideload
boot to TWRP / Advanced / Sideload - slide to sideload
on the PC put the rom in the same dir as fastboot / adb
then adb sideload <name of rom>.zip
the other way is boot to TWRP and on the first screen go to PC and
adb push <name of rom>.zip /sdcard/
when the push is complete choose install in TWRP and your file should be their in the root of the sdcard

Ok
HTC One M7 ( International )
All ways with adb are not working,
- adb sideload ARHD.zip -> * cannot read 'sideload' *
- second try with - adb sideload ARHD.zip -> error: device not found
- adb push arhd.zip /sdcard/ -> error: device not found
If i try adb devices every time the answer is: List of devices attached and nothing else no name like on
(if I am on fastboot usb) fastboot devices -> HT35VW903649 fastboot
For me it looks as adb is not working correct and I´ve installed the HTCdriver.exe again but nothing happened.
@tanveerkhan9 : no I think it doesn´t work
Sorry I am not quick enough in English and I had to copy and test all the tips I get.

you need to be in custom recovery (TWRP):
adb devices
List of devices attached
HT34xxxxxxxx recovery <- then you can use "adb push"
or
HT34xxxxxxxx sideload <- then you can use "adb sideload"
I am starting my device by pressing power and Vol down than I choose recovery and the htc goes (boots) to twrp 2.6.3.3. were I can choose 8 points :
Install, Wipe, Backup, Restore, Mount, Settings, advanced and reboot.
If I than plug in my usb cable and try adb devices nothing comes only: List of devices attached nothing else
If I only boot into Hboot and than plug in my usb cable and try adb devices nothing comes only: List of devices attached
What else does it mean: you need to be in custom recovery (TWRP)??????

[Q] I may have bricked my One. Can someone help me?

So i have an AT&T HTC One M7, and i was trying to do all the necessary steps to convert it into a google edition, but in my attempt to get s-off, after unlocking and rooting my phone, i did a tutorial that told me to install the ARHD Rom, well after the installation my phone wouldnt load anything past the initial HTC splash screen. so i then i tried an ruu, when it failed it left me unable to even access recovery. so i tried all the ruu files i could find for att and none of them worked. does anyone know what i can do?
on my boot loader screen it says all this:

*** RELOCKED ***
*** Security Warning ***

There is no ruu you can flash to your phone with s-on because all of them are lower version and require s-off to be flashed. your issue with booting arhd is probably because you did not used the right recovery. you must use twrp 2.6.3.3 to flash it.
reflash twrp 2.6.3.3:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
bot in twrp recovery, flash arhd again and try to s-off, if you can't s-off restore your nandroid backup or if you don't have any backup, flash any custom rom you want to use.

You need ADB and FASTBOOT on your computer, either by installing the Android SDK or Minimal ADB and FASTBOOT
You need to know how to start a fastboot/adb command prompt:
To open a command window prompt, in Windows go to Start Menu --> ''Run'' then type cmd. Change the directory to the ADB folder on your machine:
If using the default install location for the SDK:
Code:
cd C:\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-DATE\sdk\platform-tools
If using the default install location of Minimal ADB and FASTBOOT:
Code:
cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot
Or hold left shift + right click a blank space inside the folder where adb and fastboot are located and select ''Open command window here'' from the contextual menu.

You can unlock your bootloader with the same Unlock_code.bin you used the first time. If it doesn't work then you will have to do the whole procedure: http://htc-one.wonderhowto.com/how-to/unlock-bootloader-root-your-htc-one-running-android-4-4-2-kitkat-0151186/
You should download ARHD 82.0 and rename it to Rom.zip. Here is the complete procedure to use:

You need TWRP recovery on your device.
We still recommend to use version 2.6.3.3 for all roms
except if another version is specified in the rom OP.
Use 2.7.1.1+ for roms that require "block:by-name" support (CM11)
