[Q] I may have bricked my One. Can someone help me? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i have an AT&T HTC One M7, and i was trying to do all the necessary steps to convert it into a google edition, but in my attempt to get s-off, after unlocking and rooting my phone, i did a tutorial that told me to install the ARHD Rom, well after the installation my phone wouldnt load anything past the initial HTC splash screen. so i then i tried an ruu, when it failed it left me unable to even access recovery. so i tried all the ruu files i could find for att and none of them worked. does anyone know what i can do?
on my boot loader screen it says all this:
*** TAMPERED ***
*** RELOCKED ***
*** Security Warning ***

There is no ruu you can flash to your phone with s-on because all of them are lower version and require s-off to be flashed. your issue with booting arhd is probably because you did not used the right recovery. you must use twrp 2.6.3.3 to flash it.
reflash twrp 2.6.3.3:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
bot in twrp recovery, flash arhd again and try to s-off, if you can't s-off restore your nandroid backup or if you don't have any backup, flash any custom rom you want to use.

twrp isnt installing am i doing something wrong with that?

oh i got twrp on there, i had to re unlock my phone. now my dilemma is that the arhd rom is no longer there since the phone was wiped i guess. so my question now is, how do i get this arhd .zip back onto the phone? because i cant just drop it in like before

use adb push from twrp recovery, see below for detailed guide:
HTC ONE M7_U/M7_UL - ADB PUSH & FLASH A ROM - DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS
Prerequisites:
You need ADB and FASTBOOT on your computer, either by installing the Android SDK or Minimal ADB and FASTBOOT
You need to know how to start a fastboot/adb command prompt:
To open a command window prompt, in Windows go to Start Menu --> ''Run'' then type cmd. Change the directory to the ADB folder on your machine:
If using the default install location for the SDK:
Code:
cd C:\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-DATE\sdk\platform-tools
If using the default install location of Minimal ADB and FASTBOOT:
Code:
cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot
Or hold left shift + right click a blank space inside the folder where adb and fastboot are located and select ''Open command window here'' from the contextual menu.

You need TWRP recovery (2.6.3.3 or higher) on your device.
Unlock bootloader if not already unlocked:
Thanks to Electroz for the video tutorial
Flash TWRP Recovery:
Make sure the recovery.img file is in the same folder where adb and fastboot are located
reboot phone in bootloader mode
Flash the recovery:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
You need your HTC drivers correctly installed on your PC:
If not, follow this guide (thanks to nkk71):
originally from @nkk71: [GUIDE] [02-MAR-2014] nkk71's SuperGUIDE to returning 100% back to stock
follow the below instructions to fix
Open "Device Manager" -> select the unknown "One" -> right-click -> "Update Driver Software ..." -> "Browse my computer" -> "Let me pick" -> "Android USB Devices" -> select "My HTC ..." -> install that
just in case, HTC Drivers can be found here: [Drivers] HTC Drivers for Windows - Several Versions (credits to @mdmower)
though you should already have them since you have been using your phone anyways
for those who like a visual guide:
okay so I did a fastboot boot command, and as you can see it didnt install correct driver
Open "Device Manager"
there's the culprit
right click and Update Driver Software
select Browse my computer for driver software
select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
select Android USB Devices
select My HTC ... (if you have more than one version, choose the latest)
warning, select Yes
successful installation
now it looks better
and can confirm:
Code:

Here is a list of the HTC M7 roms
Connect your phone to computer using usb cable
Reboot phone in recovery mode (TWRP):
If phone is booted in OS:
Code:
adb reboot recovery
if not booted or bootlooping, hold power button + volume down until phone boot in bootloader mode
then select BOOTLOADER then RECOVERY using volume up/down to navigate and power button to select.
Make sure your phone is booted in TWRP main menu:
transfer the rom to your /sdcard folder:
Code:
adb push name_of_rom.zip /sdcard/
Wait for the zip file to transfer, this can take several minutes and there is no progress bar. When the command prompt give you back the hand and display how much bytes transferred in X seconds, the transfer is completed:
In TWRP main menu, select ''INSTALL''
Browse the installation menu and select your rom zip file inside /sdcard folder:
Swipe to confirm you want to flash the rom

You can copy it from your PC to your phone via the USB cable using windows explorer or you can use the adb push method you used earlier.

Your recovery is outdated, you need at least TWRP 2.6.3.3 to flash 4.4 rom like arhd 53. You could flash twrp 2.6.3.3 and above then flash arhd 53 again or maybe restore using a ruu if one is available for your phone (you'll need to post the output of ''fastboot getvar all'' to determine)

[Q] HTC One dual sim 802w - Soft bricked

Hi guys
I'm getting really frustrated, i've spend all my free time the last 4 days, trying to get my HTC One to boot.
It's stuck at the white HTC logo, and then it just loops.
It is rooted via HTCDEV unlock token.
I can enter HBOOT and Recovery (CWM 6.0.4.8.7 or TWRP_2.7.0.0_M7CDUG_802w) It's hard to find recovery's for the 802w model.
I've tried with alot of different rums and boot img's, always the same, stuck at the white HTC logo.
What i am trying right now, is to restore it from a backup (i've tried with 3 different)
It's going well untill the CWM tries to mount /data, then i just get "can't mount /data"
I'm able to use fastboot and adb (only in recovery mode)

in most cases, "can't mount /data" error is caused by a corrupted partition either because you have previously flashed a recovery or a rom not compatible for your phone variant. HTC One have different partition layout from variant to other, so when you flash something not for your phone, you are corrupting the partitions.
Use TWRP version for your phone variant
select "wipe" --> "format data"
then in "advanced wipe" select both system and cache and then swipe to wipe
then adb push your rom or backup again to /sdcard and flash/restore it.

I use a external SD card, and not adb push - Could that cause the issue?
Can you recommend me a good RUM that would work on my 802W?

Hahaha ROM!!
I'll try and push MaximusHD_2.0.0 to /sdcard and install it via twrp install.
Do i need to install the boot.img via fastboot, or does the twrp install handle that aswell?

for the M7_UL this is not required to flash boot.img like for other htc phones, but I don't know for the M7_DWG, I guess no.

Okay, so i pushed it to /sdcard - but it's not visable in the twrp installer. I tried to reboot, still empty.
adb didn't give any error:
adb push "D:\htc backup\HTC_One_DualSIM_-_MaximusHD_2.0.0.zip" "\sdcard"
4105 KB/s (1187068611 bytes in 282.395s)
I can't see it in the twrp file manager either - could it be because my phone is attached as "recovery" in adb?
adb start-server
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
adb devices
List of devices attached
HT43MW900234 recovery
Can i install it via my external sdcard or via fastboot?

Boot Loop
I had a boot loop issue because I flashed the Google Edition Android Revolution with s-on. I tried to fix this by getting s-off by flashing Android Revolution HD-One 81.0. Now my phone has no OS and I can only boot into recovery. I have tried to sideload various ROMs in the hope of at least getting back to stock but to no avail. Could someone kindly suggest how to fix this?

Prerequisites:
You need ADB and FASTBOOT on your computer,
either by installing the Android SDK or Minimal ADB and FASTBOOT
You need to know how to start a fastboot/adb command prompt:
To open a command window prompt, in Windows go to Start Menu --> ''Run'' then type cmd. Change the directory to the ADB folder on your machine:
If using the default install location for the SDK:
Code:
cd C:\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-<DATE>\sdk\platform-tools
If using the default install location of Minimal ADB and FASTBOOT:
Code:
cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot
Or hold left shift + right click a blank space inside the folder where adb and fastboot are located and select ''Open command window here'' from the contextual menu.

You need TWRP recovery on your device.
We still recommend to use version 2.6.3.3 for all roms
except if another version is specified in the rom OP.
Use 2.7.1.1+ for roms that require "block:by-name" support (CM11)
Unlock bootloader if not already unlocked:
Thanks to Electroz for the video tutorial
Flash TWRP Recovery:
Make sure the recovery.img file is in the same folder where adb and fastboot are located
(C:\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-<DATE>\sdk\platform-tools or C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot)
reboot phone in bootloader mode
Flash the recovery:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
You need your HTC drivers correctly installed on your PC:
If not, follow this guide (thanks to nkk71):
originally from @nkk71: [GUIDE] [02-MAR-2014] nkk71's SuperGUIDE to returning 100% back to stock
follow the below instructions to fix
Open "Device Manager" -> select the unknown "One" -> right-click -> "Update Driver Software ..." -> "Browse my computer" -> "Let me pick" -> "Android USB Devices" -> select "My HTC ..." -> install that
just in case, HTC Drivers can be found here: [Drivers] HTC Drivers for Windows - Several Versions (credits to @mdmower)
though you should already have them since you have been using your phone anyways
for those who like a visual guide:
okay so I did a fastboot boot command, and as you can see it didnt install correct driver
Open "Device Manager"
there's the culprit
right click and Update Driver Software
select Browse my computer for driver software
select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
select Android USB Devices
select My HTC ... (if you have more than one version, choose the latest)
warning, select Yes
successful installation
now it looks better
and can confirm:

Here is a list of the HTC M7 roms. Some other roms can be found here.
Connect your phone to computer using usb cable
(if not using the official HTC USB calble, make sure
you are using a USB data cable and not only a charging
cable. Data cables have 4 contacts: 5V, GND, DATA+, DATA-.
Charging cable only have 5V and GND contact and will not work)
Reboot phone in recovery mode (TWRP):
If phone is booted in OS:
Code:
adb reboot recovery
if not booted or bootlooping, hold power button + volume down until phone boot in bootloader mode
then select BOOTLOADER then RECOVERY using volume up/down to navigate and power button to select.
Make sure your phone is booted in TWRP main menu:
transfer the rom to your /sdcard folder:
Code:
adb push name_of_rom.zip /sdcard/
Wait for the zip file to transfer, this can take several minutes (5-15) and there is no progress bar, the command prompt will be unresponsive for that duration. When the command prompt is responsive again and display how much bytes transferred in X seconds, the transfer is completed:
In TWRP main menu, select ''INSTALL''
Browse the installation menu and select your rom zip file inside /sdcard folder:
Swipe to confirm you want to flash the rom

So i have finally setup my install i have everything working and i have everything setup.

This problem have never exist before until I installed the latest arhd lollipop Rom. I had tried to go back to my previous Rom by restoring it in recovery, problem still exists. . How can I fix this? Please help.
Flash Failed, soft-bricked phone
Hi. I make it a point to read, and read again, details shared about something ... because I like to be careful. I'm new to flashing ROMs and was quite worried about bricking my phone so, when I saw that the description for Android Revolution HD 6.1 Google Edition said: "HTC One unlocked with htcdev.com (S-ON) or S-OFF" ... I took that to mean I could be S-ON and still flash this ROM.
User clsA said my flash of ARHD 6.1 failed because I was not S-OFF. I am, probably obviously, confused.
Could someone please offer insight into why my flash failed? Thanks.
Technical details about my phone and bootloader:

HTC SDK API level: 5.68

You can unlock your bootloader with the same Unlock_code.bin you used the first time. If it doesn't work then you will have to do the whole procedure: http://htc-one.wonderhowto.com/how-to/unlock-bootloader-root-your-htc-one-running-android-4-4-2-kitkat-0151186/
You should download ARHD 82.0 and rename it to Rom.zip. Here is the complete procedure to use:

Need help to go from Cyanogenmod to Stock, bootloop

Hello, i bought this phone used a few years ago and it had cyanogen mod, it was working fine till about a year ago where i stopped using it for like half a year. Then borrowed it to a parent and when they started using it started malfunctioning, there was problem installing apps i think and then it just got stuck on boot saying "optimizing apps xx of 96" and it would stay like that nonstoop and it became VERY HOT. I wiped it but it gave me error when trying to install apps, and then it got stuck on boot again just like before. I did a recovery and it lets me boot now but i don't wanna risk it doing the same again so i just want to have it back to 100% stock.
Now i'm kinda a noob at this, but i do know quite a lot a bout PCs so it shouldn't be much of a problem.
I saw a guide by @alray which seemed easy enough:

To know your phone info, you'll need to use the "fastboot getvar all" command:
Install Minimal adb and fastboot on your computer and the latest htc drivers (you can install the latest drivers by installing htc sync manager from htc's website).
Once adb and the drivers are installed, connect your phone to your pc, reboot the phone in bootloader mode (hold power + volume down button until you see a white screen like this). Make sure your phone is in bootloader mode (like on the right picture, showing "FASTBOOT USB" in red. If it's bootloader mode (HBOOT in blue) use you volume up/down key to highlight the FASTBOOT option and use the power button to enter fastboot menu.
Then on your computer click the start menu ---> program ---> minimal adb and fastboot ---> minimal adb and fastboot.exe.
This will open a command window. Type "fastboot getvar all" without the quotes, hit Enter and copy paste (or screenshot) the output in your next post. Make sure to delete the IMEI and SERIALNO lines before posting.

The latest RUU version for your phone is 6.15.599.101
Download these 2 files and save them in the same folder where is installed minimal adb and fastboot on your computer
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347843559
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=24341993505161791
Reboot your phone in bootloader (fastboot usb) menu and lunch minimal adb and fastboot.exe
In the terminal window type (commands are case sensitive):
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
Your phone will reboot in RUU mode, a black screen with a silver HTC logo
Then flash the RUU with this command:
Code:
htc_fastboot flash zip PN07IMG_M7_U_K443_SENSE60_MR_HTC_LA_SPA_6.15.599.101_Radio_4T.28.3218.04_10.33E.1718.01D_release_388532_signed.zip
The flash will begin and the first part of the RUU will be flashed. After a few seconds, your phone will reboot to ruu mode (you'll get generic error message in your terminal window saying: "Failed remote: 90 Hboot pre-update! Please flush image again immediately" don't worry that's normal) and flash the second part of the RUU (should take about 10 minutes).
Once the flash is done you should see in your terminal window the message:
Code:
Successful
OKAY
Finished. Total time: XXX seconds
(The green progress bar on your phone screen might not show exactly 100% that's normal.)
If yes it's now safe to reboot your phone using this command:
Code:
fastboot reboot
Then wait for your phone to boot (first boot after flashing a RUU can take longer than usual)
If something goes wrong during the ruu flash do not reboot your phone. Rebooting the phone during an incomplete ruu flash can brick it. Make sure to have your battery fully charged before proceeding. If your bootloader is unlocked (bootloader lock/unlock status is shown in pink when in bootloader mode) you must re-lock it before flashing the RUU using the
Code:
fastboot oem lock
command.

The file is encrypted that's why. You don't need to extract it.

Ok, i've put the rar and the other file in the Minimal ADB folder like you told me, opened Minimal ADB and put the code you said but it apparently failed. Also, some of the instructions are not very clear, this part ""Failed remote: 90 Hboot pre-update! Please flush image again immediately" don't worry that's normal) and flash the second part of the RUU (should take about 10 minutes). " How do i flash the second part?, do i input the same code again or is it automatically done?. My phone is now with a black screen and the silver HTC logo. What should i do now?, my phone is still conected to the USB and i haven't closed the bat file.
Here's the info on the bat.
BTW: on the bat it says the file is a zip apparently, but in my computer it shows as a rar file, i don't have winzip, just winrar. Could that be the problem?
UPDATE: I've input the same code again and it didn't work. The bat just updated with the same exact text as before.

Go back in bootloader mode and check if your bootloader is unlocked or locked (first line of text in pink). If its unlocked use this command to re-lock:
fastboot oem lock
Then try again

You can leave ruu mode typing
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Or using power + volume down.
Yes safe to reboot, nothing flashed yet

That's fine now go back in ruu mode using
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
and once there proceed with
Code:
htc_fastboot flash zip PN07IMG_M7_U_K443_SENSE60_MR_HTC_LA_SPA_6.15.599.101_Radio_4T.28.3218.04_10.33E.1718.01D_release_388532_signed.zip
You don't need to input the command twice, the phone will reboot itself after the first part and once back in ruu mode the second part will start to flash automatically.

A factory reset will remove all your personal info from the phone.
It can be done from bootloader (3rd option when in the hboot menu) or from the OS: Settings --> Backup & reset --> Reset phone
You're welcome
