hi
I own a htc one X+, and I would like to know if Im crazy buying a new moto x (310€ right now here in spain).
I don't need my 64gb storage, don't need FM radio..
I am looking for:
- better battery autonomy. Anyone knows how compares moto x against htc one x+?
- better user experience. No lags..
thanks!
I used to have an American HTC one x (dual core version with the snapdragon s4 pro). Since then I've had a RAZR m, note 2, lg g2, and moto x. The moto x is by far the smoothest of all of them, even without any custom Roms/kernels on the x. As far as battery life, I've been a bit spoiled by the g2 and the zerolemon I had for the note 2. I know a lot of people will tell you the battery is great in the x, but I think it's just OK. That being said, it's definitely better than my old one x, but I know you have the one x plus. Considering the moto x runs a more efficient chip with the same sized battery and screen, I can't imagine it's any worse than the one x+. Just be warned, if you are a flashaholic, don't get the x unless you're ready to be cured...

Had the HOX+,, love the Moto x better. The Moto has better battery life better camera and it is much faster. HOX+ is not going past jelly bean unless some miracle happens with Htc or someone ports it.
I came from the American One X (One XL), and it was totally worth it. The MotoX feels better, is WAY WAY WAY smoother, no lag at all. Battery is significantly better. Call quality is better. Everything is better.
If you're worried about price, just buy one used on swappa.com (~$200 or so)

I need inputs from the moto x people here if y'all have any regrets or would u get a g2 instead of the moto x

Moto x. Better software. No lag. Faster updates.

Moto X of course. But, what did you expect when posting a question like this in the Moto X forum? I had the LG G2 and heavily favor the Moto X. Still think it's an awesome phone after a few months.
My comment on this was in one of these two postings:

This. G2 has better display, better battery life and MUCH better camera. Moto x has better software, better performance, more useful features, better speaker. If it wasnt for the lag i would say the G2 is better but because of it i say moto x.
Both phones are amazing in their own personal way...
I had the LG g2 after the moto x, then came back to the Moto x....
I missed the breathing notifications, and all of the personalization that comes with the moto x.
Fwiw, the LG g2 is a phone that you must root and put a custom rom onto in order to enjoy it ; at least for me.
The moto x is awesome out of the box!
Cheers,

I think it is a personal preference, they are both really good phones.
I have both and for me the G2 is the better phone. The moto is too small, the screen isn't as good, and is a touch slower and the camera is a step behind. Further, I tend to keep my phones for 2 years or longer and I feel like the G2 will be the better phone in the long haul. I know that some people complain about the UI but after a few weeks of using, rooting, and tweaking it I have it just the way I want it, lean but still useful feature rich. I loaded CM on it for 3 days and went back to my version of stock. It was just missing too much.
The moto is a great phone, the updates have been impressive, the features rock and my wife loves it. It is the good size for her and she doesn't care about screen resolution (or kit kat) in the slightest. She had a razr maxx and it was too big for her. She is much happier now with her pink and black moto x
good luck with your decision.
If you post this question on the "Moto X" area = Moto X winner
If you post this question on the "LG G2" area = G2 winner
G2 has better specs, better screen... but it's big, and clumsy, and made by LG which we all know, really don't care for updates... in the end, it's up to you...
I tried the G2 before the X (coming from a S4) and for me the screen was the deal breaker. I didn't like the G2 screen. I'm just a sucker for SAMOLED I guess but the low contrast and saturation of the G2 (both stock and CM10.2) drove me nuts constantly.
G2 wins on camera, battery life and audio quality over both the X and S4. The G2 processor absolutely smokes but I've been pleasantly surprised by the X in that regard as well. I'm not a gamer so this is just working with regular apps but it feels faster than the S4 and not too far off the G2.

Hi everyone,
I recently bought a Moto G 16gb for 199 euros and one of my classmates is ready to buy it from me for the same price.
I am seriously considering selling it to him and buy myself a new phone but i am confused
Should i stick to Moto G or sell it to him and buy one of these Moto X or Nexus 5 (16gb) or HTC One mini or Sony Xperia Z (the four devices come around 349 euros, i will be paying 150 more from my pocket)..
I have not included Samsung in the list (never like it) and i havent used Sony or HTC before. I live in Germany and LTE is not an absolute must, however good battery is a must though.
Suggestions please!!
Thanks in advance
Sanjay
Moto g and Moto x are far far away. If you can buy a moto x for 150 more do it.

The Moto X is the best choice from that list if you factor in battery life. If battery life isn't important, than maybe Nexus 5 is better.
Nexus 5 have wireless charging, better camera, 1080p screen, and more developers for custom roms.
Moto X have better battery life, unique features like Touchless Control and Active Display, smaller size and better form factor, great sounding speaker and good voice quality.
If you want a very fast phone, root and flash custom roms a lot, get a Nexus 5. If you want a good experience right out of the box with good battery life, get Moto X.
Thanks everyone
Got myself a Moto X (Moto Maker is not available in Germany which was the only bummer)
Have both, MG and MX. The X feels far more better in the hand, although the MG is really good.
Grüße aus Köln
Just got a moto x but I like my moto g more

In a lil bit of a dilemma here...
Have a S4 on the 4.4.2 update (Safe Strapped to Hyperdrive) and have a older Tmobile Moto X XT1053 (I am on new LTE ATT plan) that I unlocked the bootloader a while back on. (was my GF's) She got a new work phone and the Moto X has been sitting.... I like my S4 but I think the Moto X has a lil better battery and possibly Signal strength on the radios.
S4 Pros:
Removable battery
SD slot
Screen Res
Cons:
Safestrap (limited roms)
Moto X Pros:
Unlocked Bootloader
Great Battery
Better signal
Moto X Cons:
Limited roms
Sealed battery
Thoughts? I need to sell one of these to make some $$$ back.

I give my vote to Moto X. I really like that phone. I even don't need custom roms, I am sitting now on Krypton and very happy.
That phone is small, powerfull and very nice looking.
P.S. Now I have Moto X. Didn't use S4. Don't like samsung :silly:

Fair enough! I expect these types of responses.
I assume most will be MOTO X based because this was posted in the MOTO X forum.
You'll get more money selling the S4.
I had an S3 and Note 2 before my Moto X, the difference in performance is night and day. Limited ROMs on the Moto X is a non-issue because it's so good stock, and even better with Xposed. I haven't even bothered trying any of the custom AOSP-based ROMs because there are always bugs that have to be fixed, I'd rather try the stock-based custom ROMs. Tried them all on my Note 2 but always ended up on Beans' TW-based ROM, which is why I haven't bothered trying any of the AOSP/CM-based ROMs.
How is the batt life on the moto X with the custom roms? sometime i Tether/GPS (plugged in usually thne) alot so I need something that will last a while.
Thank guys!
My sister switched from her s4 to a moto x (after I showed her mine) and she couldn't be happier. The s4 has better specs and therefore may be more future proof, however I personally prefer the smaller size and shape of the moto x. Not to mention with their optimized hardware and stock android the performance was way better on the moto. Its faster than the touchwiz bloated s4. Everyone in this forum would probably say moto x haha. However if you care about the higher res or bigger screen ( I don't) OR if you care about the significantly better camera, stick with the s4. And you honestly shouldn't need custom roms... Xposed and Gravity box has pretty much all of the features you may need or want.
I recently read an article where is said the MOTO X had one of the better radios performance also. even though they are all almost equal Qualcomm Chipsets.. hmm..
Motorola has always been one of the best in terms of radio performance.
From my experience, actually with the devices in my home where signal is lousy all around....
The X is quite good. Slightly better than the N5. On par with my M8 and a friends iPhone 6. And better than every Samsung that's entered my house. Lol
Hey guys, I'm interested in upgrading my phone. I love my moto g and I'm undecided BTW these two phones. Which one would you go with?
I know the turbo has better specs in every department than the X, but I love the style and customizable options of the X.
I would probably go with 32gb storage.
Moto X unless you really want the extra battery life. My dad got the Turbo. It's a very nice phone, but not quite as smooth, attractive, or comfortable.
Yeah, that's my biggest issue with the turbo... Its not as sleek.
I'm only concerned with the whole specs thing... The turbo clearly has better specs than the Moto x. But then again that's not everything. I'm concerned when it comes to "futureproofing"
The "better" specs are meaningless when you're pushing almost twice as many pixels.
X all the way. I was in same boat. So glad I chose to build a custom X on Moto Maker. That Turbo is just so damn ugly. And those buttons, dont even get me started. Good Luck!
Hahaha the capacitive buttons or the volume/ power buttons?
Any of you guys experiencing problems with lollipop?
I returned my turbo and bought the moto x. Besides battery life, I think the moto x has fewer issues. But I get a full day out of a charge, so ho hum. I bought the turbo day 1 and went through 4 replacements before giving up. Having Lollipop already is an added bonus. However volte is not yet enabled.
The Turbo is slick, but I think the Moto X is a better designed phone. Aside from the fact that it looks better, it is also built better, with better materials. The Turbo has better specs, but they don't translate to better performance, with that unnecessarily high resolution screen being the culprit. The only thing that the Turbo does better is battery life, but considering the X can still make it through a full day no problem, I don't think it's worth getting the Turbo for that point alone. The X is the best phone ever made, IMO, so that is what I recommend.
I tested the Turbo and Moto X side by side for a week. I really wanted to like the Turbo because of the better specs but it didn't work out that way. WiFi connectivity was much better on the X. 4G speeds tested using speed test.net were noticeably better on the X. The X just feels way better in your hand. Battery life on the X was sufficient so not a real factor for me. For overall user experience the Moto X is a great phone
Hey guys,
After a year of exploring Windows Phone i am coming back to android.
I just love the looks of Moto X 2014 bamboo edition and I am skeptical wether it would be a wise move, or just buy Moto Play.
The size and the bamboo, just make me love this phone, buy would you say is a good buy or just buy the Play which should be better in many aspects, although no bamboo and bigger size, that I don't like.
I have both. Honestly it's a hard call for me. Bouncing back and forth between devices, they both have their strong points. If size is your concern, then go with the 2014. Battery? XPlay. Premium feel? 2014. Camera? XPlay. Speed? They are around the same, though the XPlay has micro lags time to time. Expansion? XPlay. IR sensors? 2014. In some regards, the 3rd generation G performs better than the XPlay. Really it all boils down to what your explicit needs are.
Ok thanks. Do you really feel that camera improved that much?

Low light it still isn't as good as the g4, and s6, but overall, I find it worlds better. I'm not doing anything crazy, but overall I find it to be a marked improvement over the 2014.
The phone overall doesn't have that same feel of speed, but I'm not sure if that's something that will be fixed with kernel optimizations. Why exactly is it that you want a Moto device vs from another manufacturer?
great thanks,
i always liked Moto, from my Moto MIlestone.
LG: i tried LG G2 but i had a horrible experience with their customer service and sold all devices i had at home (tv, soundbar etc). Samsung and Sony, i dont like their interface. Huawei, i hate their interface. I love Stock Android, but Nexus is way too big...
This is my story, and that is why i tried Windows for about a year now, cause i wanted someting different...

Hi,
I tested both and ended sending back the play and keeping the x 2014, here are the reasons:
- got the x 2014 32 gb on an amazon deal for 299 euros against the 350 for the play
- the play was just too big for me, 5,2 inches is the biggest I can deal with
- the play's buttons felt way too cheap, they were loose and rattled all the time, for me that was not acceptable
- the play hasn't got gyroscope (no photosphere pictures) or IR sensors, and waving at the phone to turn it on is really comfortable
- the x 2014 feels much sturdier
- the x 2014 is snappier, I could notice the microlags on the play
Battery life is much better on the play, but now I carry an external battery with me just in case. The camera is also better, but the one from the x 2014 isn't that bad. The play has a SD card slot but 32 GB is enough for my use. The play display is fine, but so is the x 2014's.
If storage, battery life and camera is important for you and you are OK with the size go for the play.
So there it is, hope it helped!

so after playing with both phones, i am feeling that Moto X Play is way to big for me, and i dont feel that i have a special phone in my hand, whereas i had this feeling with Moto X 2014.
i just wish there was a phone like Moto X 2014 out there in the market, with a better camera, external sd card, and slightly better battery.
Now i am searching for another brand, and maybe i will leave Motorola because of this.

HTC One m8 or M9.
In terms of speed, HTC M8 and Moto X are tie as far as I can tell. HTC One M8 is way prettier than Moto and feels better in hand than moto.
So I would say M8 > Moto X 2014.
M9 is almost identical to m8 except chips and camera.
Lots of people say M9> M8 . But considering the price, I love m8 better.
From my hands on experience with all major Android phones, the overall best one in 2014 is M8.
2015 best phone hands down to S6/S6 edge. It blows everything else away. And yes, the new touchwiz is NOT slow at all.
