Has anyone gotten screen casting to work? When I try through the Chromecast app it says "connecting", the TV screen goes black, then the app says "disconnecting" and the TV goes back to the normal Chromecast desktop. In my notification list it continues to say "casting to screen" and tapping "disconnect" doesn't make it go away, I have to force close Google Play Services. If I go to Settings->Display->Cast Screen it just says "no nearby devices found". Other apps work with Chromecast, just not screen casting.
I'm currently using ARHD 6.1 GE (4.4.2 GPE), Chromecast 1.7.4, Google Play Services 5.0.84 and dongle firmware 17250.

I watched a show and then clicked stop at the end of the show. It is now "stuck" on the Netflix screen showing two TV's and "my chromecast" in the background. How do I "close" netflix??
I've tried restarting a show in netflix and it allows me to still cast, so the device isn't frozen. It appears to just be stuck in the netflix app. I've tried setting netflix cast to "this device" and it still does it.

Normal behavior you will see it does the same on youtube. After some time it will go back to the "desktop".
Hi,
I am in Poland and using HGO Go application on my Nexus 7.
The problem is HBO Go is not finding my Chromecast - message says 'No Device' and wile playing the movie cast button is not active.
At the same time other applications are working with chromecast.
Does anyone have a clue what might be the problem?
Thanks,
Piotr
Is there a way to have apps such as Netflix send to Chromecast by default?
I have a tablet dedicated to chromecast control but have to tell it to use chromecast each time in each app.
I'd settle for having to tap the cast icon each time but that I have to then specify which chromecast to send to when I only have one is infruriating.

While I'm sure it could be done but it wouldn't make sense to do because what happens when you want to watch something on the tablet or phone?
Consider this...With the right TV the two Cast button presses are in lieu of having to change the input on the TV since selecting a CCast will change the input for you and even turn the TV on if it was off.
Also, as mentioned elsewhere, the Cast button is designed to a pop-up menu, giving the option to disconnect, as well as see the label of the Chromecast.
I can understand the convenience, but I actually prefer the two-tap, with the AllCast beta which supported "always use this Chromecast" for single-click use, I had accidentally tapped and turned on the TV. Then I had to get the TV remote to turn the TV off, since Chromecast doesn't do that.
Folks
My friend has a stock S3 mini and is trying to use bubblebupnp to stream from his phone to his chromecast.
Bubble fails with this error:
chromecast error: failed to connect to google play services for casting NETWORK ERROR
I have searched but not found an answer.
Its stock rom, not rooted, so running ICS?
Youtube app casts fine using the cast button.
I updated google play services but same issue occurs.
I download allcast, but it did not find the chromecast, it just kept searching.
Have restarted and reset the chromecast several times, but it works fine with my phone, so it's something specifically with his phone.
Any ideas why bubble or allcast are not working.? Its the latest version of bubble, so it has to be someting on the phone itself..
Has anyone checked on the Google Home Hub if you can cast your entire screen onto it using the cast icon in the pull down menu on say a pixel phone or some other Android type phone?
no you cannot it work with apps like youtube, movies and other apps that support casting but for some reason casting the entire screen does not seem to work currently
Similar to if you try casting Netflix to the Hub. It does it for about a second, then it seems to remember "that's something I'm supposed to tell the user I can't do," so it stops and says (best HAL9000 voice) "I'm sorry Dave. I don't know how to do that yet."
So CAN it do this (is it technically capable)? Yes. WILL it do it? No.
