[Q] chromecast: failed to connect google play services for casting - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Folks
My friend has a stock S3 mini and is trying to use bubblebupnp to stream from his phone to his chromecast.
Bubble fails with this error:
chromecast error: failed to connect to google play services for casting NETWORK ERROR
I have searched but not found an answer.
Its stock rom, not rooted, so running ICS?
Youtube app casts fine using the cast button.
I updated google play services but same issue occurs.
I download allcast, but it did not find the chromecast, it just kept searching.
Have restarted and reset the chromecast several times, but it works fine with my phone, so it's something specifically with his phone.
Any ideas why bubble or allcast are not working.? Its the latest version of bubble, so it has to be someting on the phone itself..

Casting Pandora outside of US

I can't seem to get Pandora to work on my Chromecast ... I've update the Pandora app and and I see the cast button, however when I click it I get a message saying "Oops! We were unable to connect you to Chromecast at this time". The chromecast displays a "Brain Freeze - something failed to load".
I have changed the nameservers on my router and updated the iptables scripts (I am in Canada). Pandora works fine on my phone on my wifi network. Also, Netflix works fine on my Chromecast too. Are there additional scripts required on the router?
Not currently subscribed to Unblock Us so I can't test right now. There's always the possibility Pandora is sending an IP address rather than a hostname to Chromecast.

Mind sharing where you found the updated Pandora APK for a fellow Canuck?
No need to find the Pandora apk, just temporarily change your Google Play store to a U.S. account and use a DNS/VPN service with U.S. gateway to connect and install Pandora.
You can always tab-cast Pandora from your PC to the Chromecast. The audio streaming performance is fine.

Chromecast + HBO Go - not working

I am in Poland and using HGO Go application on my Nexus 7.
The problem is HBO Go is not finding my Chromecast - message says 'No Device' and wile playing the movie cast button is not active.

Double cast icons on stock chromecast after installing newest play services update

I installed the latest play services update so I could get Allcast working on chromecast. After installing it I got double cast icons when trying to use google music as shown in the attached pictures and they dont work reliably anymore. Anybody else experiencing the same issues and have a fix? I also installed a roku recently and not sure if that may also have something to do with the chromecast not behaving properly.

I assume you've rebooted since installing the Play Services update?
Roku shouldn't affect Chromecast.
Try rebooting your router in case it's some UPnP caching thing.
Odd since my device has the opposite affect....
I only have one CCast listing for each (I have two in use), But I have two entries for each XBMC on my Network.
I just figured it may be due to DLNA and UPnP both being supported by XBMC ad Allcast seeing each as a different target.

Thanks for the tips. Rebooted my router and it didnt change. I tried to cast using my windows laptop and each chromecast was only displayed 1 time and worked just fine so my issue is android specific. I am using a stock nexus 5. I also tried clearing cache and data on the chromecast android app and that did not work.

I saw that an AllCast update went out today so maybe it was a known bug that got fixed in the update...
Check the play Store to see if there is an Update available.

Force stop AllCast.
Flush apps Data and Cache.
Eventually if your phone is rooted, flush dalvik cache.
Reboot phone, it should work after reboot.
It's possible that you use illegitimate copy of a program, in such a case users with illegitimate copies usually uninstall and install app again.

Deleted allcast and the roku symbol on google music is gone which is good because when i tried to click roku on the cast pulldown menu in the google music app it would not do anything. But after restarting the phone the double chromecast icons are still there. I cant revert to the old version of the google play services which I feel may be the culprit for google music to be acting strange.
Same here get the double cast icons and neither one works

Do you get double cast icons only for google music or are other apps also affected?

PS flush apps cache and data just in case

[Q] Chromecast screen casting

Has anyone gotten screen casting to work? When I try through the Chromecast app it says "connecting", the TV screen goes black, then the app says "disconnecting" and the TV goes back to the normal Chromecast desktop. In my notification list it continues to say "casting to screen" and tapping "disconnect" doesn't make it go away, I have to force close Google Play Services. If I go to Settings->Display->Cast Screen it just says "no nearby devices found". Other apps work with Chromecast, just not screen casting.
I'm currently using ARHD 6.1 GE (4.4.2 GPE), Chromecast 1.7.4, Google Play Services 5.0.84 and dongle firmware 17250.

Get Google Play Movies to work on a Rooted Device?

Basically what the title says. For some reason, Google Play Movies does not want to work on my Tab S2 when it is rooted? Is there a way to force it to run? All of the other play apps (Music, Books etc.) work just fine, it's just Movies that's acting up. I've already tried RootCloak, but that didn't work.
Also, I just thought of this. Has anyone tried downloading a movie from google play movies while the device is rooted, and see if it plays?
I know this is old, but I have a somehow different but jet similar issue, because I when I had my device rootet on default firmware there was no problem, but now on AOSPA I can watch, but not download any movies.
