So, recently I rooted my phone following this page
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783157
and got the safestrap to work as well
but then I rooted my phone from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2709701
so, I noticed my gmail disappeared. So, I went ahead and tried to install it from the Play Store. But, it's not installing or not installed properly.
The GMail app does show up on the Menu. And I would have to go through the play store to open the app. Even after opening the app, the loading bar in the gmail app would keep going and going and nothing would show up.
Note: My default email works though.
1) Please help me fix my gmail problem.

I have started the rooting of my NC using the auto-nooter-2.12.25.img. I appear to be rooted (mostly). I got youtube but gmail did not sync. I opened up Market and accepted Terms and Service. I have softkeys but tapping any of the soft keys just shows a message "Unable to execute as root". In the Market, the search magnifying glass is grayed out. I have selected an app to DL & it says "starting to download" but doesn't seem to be doing anything. I do have wi-fi on and am connected to the internet. Have no clue what to do from here except somehow I need softkeys to do something other than give that message.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: On rebooting, softkeys now has been allowed superuser permissions & seems to work. Now I can use it to search the Market. But where are the apps I DLed and how do I get to them? They are not showing in "Extras".
Edit-2: I think I've got it. Now have ADW Launcher working. Just a learning curve.

It has been awhile since I rooted. I cant remember if the auto-nooter package came with the old or new market(I think it was the old). Seems like I had issues at first and upgraded to the new. May try to clear the market cache first. Here is a thread on the new market.

You need to reboot before it shows up in extras. Or install a different launcher and it shows up instantly.
Can you use Google Talk? If the app is stuck at downloading, most likely you can't connect with Google Talk. Open up ports 5222 and 443 on your firewall and see if it works.

Tried searching..
My rooted NC has been working perfectly. I have downloaded lots of apps. Now when I am on the market everything seems fine but files will not download. It just sits there on "starting download". The only thing I can think of is I used Titanium backup to "wipe data" on the market app...I am a noob, was that dumb?? I thought that might clear my market search history that keeps adding up. Any thoughts?
mine does that once in a while. i just reboot the nook and it starts again
I have re-booted a few times...no luck.
I had that symptom after I deleted Google Talk. I just re-auto-nootered & all was fixed. Nothing was disturbed. I never heard any feedback on whether or not that was a viable restore method, but it worked for me by restoring the missing files. If I were you, though, I would wait for someone else to chime in & give some guidance.
Cheers,

now that I think about it my Gmail has not been working either. I am not getting notifications of new mail. When I launch Gmail and hit refresh it will get my mail, but not automatically like it used to....must some google account issue????
make sure you log into Google talk which should fix the issue.
My experience also supports the need to be signed into Google Talk in order to download from the Market.

I may have logged into google talk when I first rooted...but I have not touched that app since. I tried to launch it and it kicks me back to my home screen right away. Tried a reboot..same thing.
re-rooted, problem solved.
I rooted my Nook Last night, everything seemed to work fine as well. now( about an hour ago) the Marketplace stopped downloading.
Is re-rooting the only answer?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
so it's been a while since I've been on the XDA forums from my windows mobile days. Just bought and rooted my Nook and I've made my return to the forum.
So my problem is that I can't get marketplace downloads to work. I rooted my Nook Color (1.1.0) with Autonooter 3. Everything went exactly as it should, synced my youtube and gmail and gtalk. I've been able to download and install apk's from the internet and have the amazon marketplace that will download and install apps. I've tried everything from resetting the caches from gmail, gtalk, youtube, marketplace, like everyone has suggested in other threads. I've installed titanium backup and did the data wipe on the various apps, I've tried signing in/out of my gmail in the browser. I can't seem to get the marketplace to download.
any thoughts?
when i first rooted, my nook did this as well, i just rebooted and it worked, try to reboot once or twice to see if it works.
Strange as it sounds you need to be logged in to Google Talk for the market apps to download. Also, if you keep the stock launcher you won't see the apps in the Extras until you do a full reboot, but you can launch them from the notification bar.
Try unmounting your SD card...

unfortunately, all of these have already been attempted and failed.
as a side note, my gtalk just stopped working, crashes when I try to open it, even after a data wipe (titanium) and reboot.
I had the market working, until I changed the order of the accounts ( I have now primary a google apps and secondary a gmail account) When it worked was inverted in the order. I went the manual way to delete the account that appears in the nookdev wiki.
I suspect this is the cause. Now I'm tryng to keep the calendar sync with the google apps account and get the marketplace to download anyting.
Do you have the same situation?
Somebody with a clue to get this work?
I'll keep investigating. I'll post solution if I find it.
Cheers.

I had the same problem but I finally found an answer from someone on a different site. Turn your Nook off, put the SD card back into the slot, hook the USB cable back up and plug it into your computer (not sure if this step was necessary but it worked so I'm leaving it in), then unplug everything, remove the card and restart.
Hope this helps!
I've rooted my KFHD already, got the market and even signed in but I can't download any apps. It says the framework has stopped but I can still look around the store without a problem. Has anyone else faced this problem and how did you fix it? Thanks!
Fixed, I fixed the framework problem and now I'm able to download everything.
Incase anyone is in the same boat as myself:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1897380
I got the login services and framework from that thread, scrolled down and got the account and sync one as well. I used it to re-enter my gmail.
Okay, so I got my KFHD 7" rooted finally, now I'm having some issues.
I got google play installed along with gmail and a few other google apps. After doing all of that, facebook no longer works ("Facebook has stopped.") and gmail didn't work from the get-go ("Gmail has stopped.").
I'm getting this error with Google Play - "Error retrieving information from server. [DF-DFERH-01]"
Edit: Okay, looks like I was able to get the market working by using Market Enabler.
Edit 2: I got gmail working by uninstalling the version I had installed and installing it from Google Play.
I followed this tutorial to get google play installed and I followed this tutorial to get everything else installed.
Can anyone offer any advice? Thank you in advance.
Looks like I'm answering a lot of my own questions but i'm going to leave this here in case someone else has the same issue(s).
Thanks!
Had the same problem here with the "Facebook has stopped" error.
Uninstalled and re-installed from google play, no problems now
