A frustrated non tech friend gave me a kindle fire (not sure which gen). It has the voice on. It boots and when I tap to unlock it goes to "choose language" and asks me to choose a language. I select english (united states) and it says press the next button. So I tap it and it says "next button" ...and it does absolutely nothing. It's stuck. My PC does recognize it though. What are my options for trying to fix this device? I am very tech inclinded, but just have never owned a kindle fire (i did read KFFB). Thank you for any suggestions.

After looking at the placement of the power button, volume buttons, and speakers, it appears to be a Kindle Fire HD 7 (2013)
Any help or suggestions as to what I can do with this not knowing what version software or anything that is on it?

The last picture is the one. I have no clue what has been done to this tablet. I just know it is stuck at a select language screen as i mentioned in my first post. I tried looking to see if there was some way to factory reset it without me being able to get into settings? I have been reading up on this all day and night. Confused as to what to do or solve this problem. Do i use TWRP recovery? What's the latest software (firerooter?) I should use? Sorry, I'm not trying to overwhelm with questions, I SO very much appreciate the help! Thank you in advance
I'm guessing you will need a Factory/Fastboot cable to force Kindle into Fastboot mode
or use adb.exe to reboot to Fastboot mode

I'm trying to upgrade with LG Flashtool and SmartFlashTool_External software too. Not worked but in Windows Systemmanager have the phone. I'm trying the upgrade lot of time, but not worked. With LG Flashtool stopped the upgrade every time at 17-19%, with SmartFlashTool too. At this moment i can't the phone ON but the charging with the cable working and the S/W upgrade text showing the phone but In Windows Systemmanager can't find the phone and LG tool and the other tool can't see the phone.

If anyone could help, I'd appreciate it.. Had my bionic running ics just before the official patch. It had given me an error that the E: drive was corrupt. I formatted it and got it running again, after about a week and 1/2 it just stopped running.

No luck, get the below error.

The phone will not boot up, so how would I make sure.. When I go into fastboot and plug in the cord, it activates the USB connection and shows up, so I am assuming it is on. Drivers were downloaded and pickup my other Bionic.

I tried using all 3, get same error from all three files.

First, thank you so much for walking me through different things to try. I just put the battery back in after it being out for two days, I never selected line one in RSD before, so I am trying that now. I will let you know if it makes a difference. Also using the file you specified.

But on one hand ..if your running fast boot now and its working.. Keep it going and see. If it start then u can update through android system settings. Or try fastboot ICS zip after. Let me know how its going. I'll keep thinking.

If you have the time. You can hook up your OTHER bionic to PC copy both your android SD Cards MOTO:F and MOTO G to your PC and try and fastboot the OTHER Bionic to ICS see if that works. You can then transfer info from back to correct drives on Your device. Takes a while to do though.
That would narrow things down with your mount issues.

Did RDS lite fail again or still running. And when you downloaded the Verizon Zip file..you left it zipped up? I hope. If you didn't...don't extract that file. Flash as is.

Still running.. After the initial fail on 6.7.246, I selected line one and hit start. and it is still going.. Still saying step 1/21 though
Oh, I also formatted the SD card, since it was the old one, and had a bunch of junk on it.. Didn't know if that would make a difference.. 16g card.

I have kindle fire HD 7''(Tate) and I have rooted it awhile ago and installed cm11 following this thread. But I believe I did some mistake in the middle of the process. Now my kindle boots into cm11 and after using for some time, it crashes and reboots into this screen(

1.Downgrade to 7.2.3/7.2.1
2.get twrp
3.install cm11 thereafter.

I have successfully rooted,installed 2nd bootloader & cm11 with gapps on my KFHD7 tate from "amazon os 7.4.9 update".

fireflash has stopped
I am on a confirmed rooted kindle fire 2nd gen, I install fireflash with no problems, go to open it, grand superuser permission, then get a popup saying fireflash has stopped. Hit ok, goes back to main screen. any thoughts?
To try and fix fireflash ,Go to settings,manage applications, all applications,scroll down to fireflash ,clear cache,data and force stop,if this doesn't work try uninstalling and reinstalling fireflash

Well a rom without sources flashable via a dubious tool shouldn't be on xda, the thread must be reported, if the mods will light up green then... Better hold your horses guys

yes, you can download the ROM by king flasher and you will find the ROM zip file in installation directory (example: C:\Program Files (x86)\KingFlasher\download) copy it to your phone and flash with twrp

It can be flashed via TWRP. I flashed the ROM while it was over in the general section. I confirm the ROM flashes via TWRP. I'll post screenshots if you want?

I thought I could unbrick. But now, dont know what to do with that brick.
The Fire is connected to my pc, its doing something like open/close. Windows plug-in sound comes around each 22 seconds.
I see just black screen (its like off)
I've installed and tried KindleUnbrickV1.1, but it waits for nothing. (It says, waiting for adb device. But doesn't become visible on abd...)

If I solve dissappearing problem, I believe I'll do it.
I even tried to dissassembly battery for using just usb cable. It does same thing. @sd_shadow
edit: now it doesn't restart. but now, sp flashtools doesn't recognize my Fire

Downgrading FireOS from 5.6 to anything below 5.4 borks the bootloader. There is no known method to resurrect the device. Save or sell it for parts.

Unlikely; bootloader downgrades are almost always fatal regardless of device.

If device is within warranty they will likely exchange it for a refurbished unit as a one time courtesy. There is no technical fix if unable to access recovery.
btw, I have another amazon Fire which works fine (my friend's). can I do something with two of them to recover my broken one? @sd_shadow @Davey126

Dude - not sure how many different ways it needs to be explained. Device is dead. Learn from the experience and move on.

Hi, i also had the same problem but sadly nothing to do. My device brick was caused by an ota update through the system (so officially) and i assume i was unlucky. Same symthomps like your. I searched all the web and i found up that's really nothing to do with that. Amazon tries in any way to descourage this pratique so the bootloader is locked for that motivation. In less words:
Nothing to do, i suggest to put that thing in garbage or sell it for parts.
