so i did the 1-click rooting thing BUT the problem is that i wasnt supposed to let my phone reboot into normal mode and that caused the process to become undone. now, when trying to boot into recovery, i get the exclamation mark with the 3 options. please help me @[email protected] i'd rerun the recovery flasher program BUT my phone was wiped too and i cant get past the gmail screen. i have no data plan
android reflashed my recovery partition with the built-in backup DDDDDDDDDD:
If you get a recovery image when pressing home and end than youhave a recovery just boot a rooted rom like cyan's in and you will be good to go, you can acess your sd on a computer by going into recoverey console and typing ums_enable to mount your sd and ums_diable to unmount
i dont think i can, because my phone rebooted into normal mode and android reflashed my recovery partition with the built-in backup, so i dont get the usual recovery mode screen. i have the exclamation markw here you have to press alt+L and theres only options to wipe, install the update.zip and reboot.
Alright then you will need to find a way to acess your card like another phone or card reader if you can not get past that, once you can read, download a rom and rename it update.zip, if you are windows it hides the extension so just rename to update, by the way how did you get the orignal recovery if you used the one click witch flashes cm recovery 1.4 were you have a lot more options and don't have to hit alt-whatever
i did use flash cm recovery. but like it said, after rebooting into normal mode on accident, android reflashed my recovery partition. i wouldve had the screen with more options if that hadent happened. and i wiped too, so i couldnt access the phone due to being locked out because of the stupid log in screen. by the way, do you know how to get past it without another sim and data plan?
The recovery image is immune to wipes and partion cleaning, it is deep in the sif you get acess to your sd and put a rom on there ystem, without an adp phone, there really no way past that login without a custom rom, yes painif in the ass, try another sim get into phone and reflash the recovery to go any farther, once you have cm recovery 1.4 than you can really go, if you can put a rom on your sd before reflashing recovery and you can not get it go past the recovey that you are on now than you do not have permission and you are not rooted
I have a problem.
When installling TW Roms (latest ones) I get "Enter password to use encrypted device storage" - and no matter what passwords I try - it doesn't go further.
When I clean install other roms, it works.
Any Idea?
Search function doesn't work on this site, maybe there are some others with similar problems, hopefully it is curable!
Hae you ever used encryption or exchange or vpn?

Have you encrypted your phone in the past or perhaps its secondhand?
Try formatting your sdcard + flashing a different kernel using odin and try again..
After trying everything in a similar scenario, I input the wrong password about 15 times on a TW-based ROM - then everything was deleted and it was fine

Nothing kept on saying try again.
I went into recovery (stock recovery) and did factory reset and wipe cache. Still the same screen.

after reboot I am still trying. Will update if it gives me anything other then try again.
I do not remember setting up any encryption. Though I did at some point used exchange but deleted that account after a while. So when I updated nothing was on it no passwords.

Yeah no luck. I lost count as to how many time I tried again. It remained the same.
I can only suggest installing the xperia-sized ROM by AminX..... this is the one that let me reset.

SOLVED.
Ok guys just a quick update. I haven't had time and forgot about this thread but here's what I did and I am posting here so that somebody in same situation could benefit. I created a note to self in past and found it.
"In case I ever get that annoying Encryption message.
Do the following:
1) For this method to work you must have access to SDcard or internal memory.
2) If you dont have access, make sure you have Superuser file on any type of Memory (internal or external).
(On the sidenote I will always keep that in internal as well as external card from now on.)
3) Fire up Odin - Install Clockwork Recovery in PDA - Do Not Check reset time.
4) START....
5) Install zip from sdcard... superuser
a) it will fail first time with error code 0.
b) do it again (dont worry about that).
6) Fire up odin again.
7) Rename the MD5 i717 file to TAR. (see NOTE)
8) PDA that ****.
9) START and wait....
10) PASS you're done. Thank PAST ME...!!!! "
NOTE : Now I think this will work for other devices than just I717. You must get a stock rom TAR for your device. Dont get the latest but the one before latest.
After booting is complete and the device no longer asks for passcode. Go into security settings of the device. Then Setup a password lock for your device. Make sure its password lock and is at-least 8 characters. NOTE DOWN THAT PASSWORD
REBOOT.
Device will ask for password to unclock, Enter it and then go to security settings again and disable password unlock it or simply set it to slide.
Make sure you have NOT enabled any device Administrators in security settings. Most commonly people with exchange accounts on phone have that.
After this you can flash the any ROM you intend to flash (On stock rom it will still appear.) and if that encryption screen comes up use the password you setup previously.
Again I cant guarantee this will work for individual devices but yeah It worked for me and my friends device (both i717). Its now a goto method to get rid of it.

After trying this method for a few hours it turns out that I had to downgrade, only after that there was an override on the encryption password requirement. Just in case you don't mind reinstalling evrything.
After I updated my ROM and with through the set up process I thought it would be a good idea to checked the lock reactivation through samsung then afterwards I forgot all about it and went through TB and deleted all samsung apps off my phone...
Now if I try to uncheck the lock reactivation it force closes my settings so I'm thinking I should just just factory reset my phone and when everything boots back up enter my Samsung account info or would the phone act up trying to factory reset with the reactivation lock on the phone
I need to get into my custom recovery and I can't since lock reactivation is checked :/ any help is appreciated
Make sure you have stock kernel and recovery, otherwise with reactivation checked, you might end in forever bootlooop.
Note 4 ?
Are you able to boot into your phone?
Yeah my phone is fully functional I'm able to do everything fine but it's just when I mess with anything that deals with samsung account it force closes for example I tried the data reset but it force closed when I hit it
What I think I need is the Samsung apk or w.e I deleted inside titanium backup that deals with samsung accounts I'll send someone some beer money if they can help me to uncheck reactivation lock lol
Can't get into recovery with the power button + home button + up volume button combo?

Flash cf auto root for our phone in odin with the reset and auto reboot unchecked. Very important to uncheck those. It will fail to flash. Pull out your battery and put back in. It should boot as normal
As for your first problem you should download ib4 sampler pack in his rapture thread and install those apks hopefully the one you need to uncheck reactivation will be in there.
well i tried the cf auto root thru odin and right at the end it failed like i thought it would because of the reactivation lock so i pulled my battery and tried booting up the phone and I am still stuck on the t mobile screen... I'm pretty sure there isn't a way to get my phone working again with odin failing because of the lock any help is appreciated.
You could try flashing a stock rom through recovery.
Then a data reset.
Or odin to stock then factory reset.
Im not home at the moment to try but i have a feeling trying to odin a stock rom will not pass since the reaactivation wont let odin doing anything right and i cant get into my recovery since it will pop up saying custom binary failed due to reactivation lock
It's bootloader unlocked, but can't get into bootloader. I wand Cyanogenmod on it.
I'll give remote access to my computer / device, and even talk on the phone. I have all files I can find downloaded, but none will root the device or roll back, etc. I can't access the bootloader in any way (power / volume down or power / volume up just result in a normal boot).
I will pay via PayPal. I need this ASAP. I don't know what I did wrong, but hope you're the person than can fix it and install CM (or any other way to wifi tether on T-Mobile / Simple Mobile).
Serious offer. Can you do it? If so make some quick cash.

this should help you
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...ck-guide-h811-20-o-bootloader-unlock-t3421589
Yes, this should help resolve your issues. What you wanna do is get ADB on your computer. Download the file in this link. It will get everything running, system wide. I did this, personally, because I'm a lazy mofo. Also, you want a custom recovery, not your bootloader
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48915118#post48915118
Next up, you wanna enable developer setting on the phone.
-Settings....about phone....software info.....click on "build number" until you are granted developer settings (it'll say it.)
Click back, twice and you'll see Developer Settings. Go there and make sure developer options is toggled ON, up top.
Make sure "Enable OEM unlock" is checked. Scroll down and make sure "USB debugging" is checked on.
Grab all your files (cyanogenmod and gapps) Put that in a folder. and recovery img, you'll need that.
Plug your phone into your computer....Make sure you allow USB connection! Your phone will prompt you about this.
Now, within the folder, with all your files, including your recovery img, hold shift and right click. Click on "open terminal here"
Type in "adb reboot bootloader"
Your phone will boot to a black screen with some writing on the top. Since you said it's bootloader unlocked, let's move on.
type in "fastboot boot twrp-3.0.2-0-h811.img" (FYI, please have this downloaded, and in the same folder as you opened the terminal window)
Your phone should now be in TWRP recovery! Your phone should still be recognized by your computer, so open up the device, so you can browse the files of the phone.
Windows start menu....file explorer....this PC....click on your phone.
For the sake of simplicity, transfer all your files, including the recovery img, to the phone.
Once all files are on, click on "install" click "install IMAGE"...look for your twrp file and select it. THIS IS SO IMPORTANT! FLASH IT AS RECOVERY!!
Swipe to confirm...done.
Hit the home button....click "reboot"....click "recovery".
This is just gonna boot you back into recovery, so you know that you have a permanent recovery!
Next step is to backup...click it. Just swipe to backup. The three important things are checked (system, data and boot.
Once that is done, "wipe" (click it) swipe now. The recovery will do everything for you. Factory reset, basically. It doesn't wipe your internal storage, so your CM and Gapps are still gonna be there. ALWAYS BACKUP. Everybody knows that a backup can really save your ass!
Once done, "install"....click on CM then click "add another zip". Click on gapps. Now, swipe to flash the files
The recovery will do it's thing, and will confirm when it's done and successful! "Reboot system now".
The phone will take a bit to boot up, get apps ready, etc etc.
Welcome to Cyanogen mod.
If for any reason you get red errors and are panicking , just "wipe" again, then click on "restore" and swipe. Once that is done, you can reboot into stock and still have a functional phone.

Maybe try installing these drivers before using the "adb reboot bootloader" command inside of LG Root folder.
-install "LGUnitedMobile_Win_Driver_Ver_3.14.1"
Download:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347823763
-install: "adb-setup-1.4.3.exe" to get adb and fastboot drivers etc.
Download:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...8#post48915118
-you may want to restart your computer.
I did what was suggested in post #2. It got to 98% and never finished. The phone shut off and has never restarted again. Completely dead. I sent it back to LG since it had a s/n starting with 505 and see if they'll replace it.
Dead phone, dead issue.

These guys did the deed for me. https://www.oneclickroot.com I screwed around for DAYS before I just had them do it in a few minutes.
I had a similar problem, took out my micro SD card and redo everything over and it finally rooted.
This one is history. It won't power on under any circumstances (with or without battery). Like I said it was a 505 s/n and LG did give me a return number and even paid the shipping. They know of the 505 problem and what I was doing probably put it over the edge.
I was going to put CM on it to see if I could get wifi tethering to work on T-Mobile. FoxFi nor any of the other tricks seemed to work and I was hoping CM would allow wifi tethering. Anyone know the answer?
As for me, I accidentally flashed a lower fw version and screwed it up, filed a repair ticket through LG, told them it died and wouldn't come back on after the T-mobile ota, they replaced the board, no cost, due for delivery tomorrow, didn't need a receipt or proof of purchase either.
I used every fix in a combo.. fixed without lg help.. someone need to clean up my post and repost as a thread for a cheap permanent fix.. the problem starts from the rubber resistor in the battery.. the phone doesn't get the right amount of power from the stock battery so the phone gets hot from over compensation. Then the CPU/GPU will get so hot that the contacts to the main board get a little faulty.. when I bought the phone it bootloop bad and never got pass the LG boot screen.. tried the freezer trick which made the phone moist for a better connection but only boot to home screen then bootloop again cause it also has bad thermal contact.. then I did the heat gun I fix with a blow-dryer. It ran perfect until I ran an app. I then followed a guild and added a thermal pad directly on CPU and GPU. Then added thermal paste between the metal frame and the metal that cover CPU/GPU. Ran for 15 to 30 mins before bootloop.. all the time I need. I then followed a guide for bootloader unlock. fastboot boot TWRP. Flash TWRP via TWRP. Then reboot into TWRP ( if you try to fastboot flash it will fail and you will have no recovery) to make sure it stuck. Flash supersu and thermal mod from xda. Rebooted and downloaded BusyBox.. now stable but running hot. Flashed a nougat ROM.. running perfect but got 43° average instead of 63°. Used kernel editor to disable 2 big cores and thermal throttle and set everything to enable on boot. Perfect and stable no matter what in doing. Temp stay between 23° & 33°. I plan on using better thermal paste, pads and getting the TOTHL battery for better stability without a mouth full of mods.. who needs lg help? Not me.. good luck guys. There's a debate about what the real issue is. Simple.. every answer is correct which made it fixable for me with sending anything to lg. The processor is very powerful and the battery resistor is the source. I also tried a more powerful battery before any mods. When the processor needed more power I got a pop-up message about use an LG ( original) battery before it bootloop. Also with the more powerful battery, I'd get a message if I tried changing it with the phone off saying not compatible but since using a custom ROM it work fine. Lg has something in the stock software to make people think paying them extra for warranty or tech fix is the only solution. That is your only option if you bone stock. That's why they still sending patches.. to the g4.. to block root meaning you will have to pay them for fix..

Gentleman, Please try the following and don't forget the bounty $s lol.
I hope you have all the files and pc is reading your phone in adb.
Keep the downloaded twrp file in your adb folder with dwonloaded name (Ex:1234twrp.img)
Copy the same twrp file and keep in phone internal storage with named recovery.img
adb reboot bootloader (wait for phone to boot in bootloader ofcourse)
fastboot boot 1234twrp.img (whatever your twrp img file name would be in your adb folder)
Now you are in twrp recovery page in your phone.
Tap Install (STOP) > Images (bottom right) > select recovery >
Now you are in next screen where options to select recovery or boot
Tap recovery and swipe you will see [image flash complete]
Now twrp is permeant. You can restart in recovery without PC. (Tested)
Download this rom (Stock of 81120o with root access supersu installed from

or
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-g4/development/tm-h811-genisys-rom-3-7-1-t3313173
in twrp install and select your downloaded rom zip file. I prefer the second link. You have options to remove all LG junks.
Don’t run this rom with temporary trwp (which can start with pc only) then your will lose twrp and your OS and you have to do download mode and kdz thing.
Good Luck and please let me know.

Hey guys,
My un-modified, bootloader locked OP3T suddenly froze earlier today and I can't really use it anymore...
Phone froze and shut off and I think that broke some system files... When I turn the phone back on, it is very laggy for a few seconds, I can barely enter my pincode (took my SIM card out to see if that was the problem) and then it freezes and shuts off again. I entered the (stock) recovery, wiping the cache didn't solve anything and using the "reset system setting" option actually freezes mid-reset and doesn't solve my problem either... The only way I can get adb working is if I go into sideload mode. And I can't get my pictures back... My only options are a full factory reset (that might not even function) or using the unbrick toolkit... Either of those options will wipe my data and none of my vacation pictures have been backed up to GDrive or Dropbox...
Is there a way of resetting my system without wiping the data partition OR a way of backing up my pictures before wiping the phone?
Thanks in advance for your advice
At least if you could get to dev tools and enable oem unlocking , flash TWRP and from recovery you can access your data! you could try to flash the latest OOS 4.5.1 and see how that goes!
Great idea! I need to find a way to get to the dev options really quickly... Haven't managed to get to the settings before the freeze yet...

Unlocking the bootloader will wipe the phone.
I think the best (only?) hope is adb pull or boot to OS long enough to mount MTP and copy the pics. But it doesn't sound like the one stays on long enough to do either.
Better utilize the unlimited auto photo backup option to Google Photos for the next time. I never lose any photos anymore (either for ROM changes or device changes) since I use Photos. Thanks, Google!

To be honest, i dont know how i forgot that unlocking the bootloader will erase the /data/media .... my bad sorry!!!
Wiping data in recovery is not wiping your files in data/media!
