OK, I'm going to make this short and sweet.
1. I bought a Galaxy s5(at&t) from a guy
2. turns out the the phone has a blacklisted
3.Guy no were to be seen
I know all the concepts of root. My question is if i unlock my phone,
is it possible to activate it on another carrier other than at&t. (because its blacklisted on At&t)
If it is how and what do i need to do it? Thank you very much

You are better off reselling it cheap to someone who already knows how to do it and buying a phone not blacklisted. Check ESN before buying

Unfortunately, since it's blacklisted you likely won't be able to get service through any provider, I'm sure there are way around that BUT no one in there proper frame of mind is going to chance telling you how or giving you directions on how to do it (IMHO)
You can't even legally sell the device since that falls under trafficking in stolen property laws in most states, and since you mentioned the "Guy" is no where to be found it's a good bet the device is stolen
Blacklisted means it's on a list that all carriers check when activating. It will usually suspend the person's account within a few mins of putting the sim in. You really do need to check the imei when buying a phone nowadays. It's easy on the swappa site. Changing the imei is a federal crime and not easy to do even if it were legal. Only option I can recommend is trying to get it back to the owner & if you can't, maybe you could at least buy one w/a broken screen and swap em
Get the main board replaced.

I hope their sales drop so bad they stop this BS or give us a way like the M8 HTC has. Its all for BS corporations and Knox security crap.

I really love America, but it seems American companies are losing focus on the consumer because we are such a large populous they feel they can just do as they please disregarding what some want because they will still see sales cause the ones not in the know or down right just don't care will still seek their services.

Bootloader is locked because:
A.) More secure for enterprise use
B.) idiots who Brick their phones and send them in for repairs or returns.
From a business standpoint, they are doing it right to lock it down. 90% of the people don't care, and when they are selling millions of phones a year, they don't care about the 447 (current amount of people that signed the petition) that do. Google is coming out with their own version of Knox soon too.

What will that mean Google releasing there own version of knox? I know it is a type of secure platform for enterprise use that is supposed to be top notch for corporate use but really has no use to a regular user like me. If so please enlighten me as to what extent.

Ok, I have been a developer for a long time way back since the days on winmo5 on the Sammy Blackjack and have been a mobile device administrator in a 160,000+ employee international company. So I'm now going to call bunk on your theories.
A) locked BL's dont have anything to do with corporate enterprise security, thy have NIL effect in the scheme of enterprise mobile security.
What is important is whether or not the administrator can Wipe/reset or even actually disable the device completely locked BL or not it doesnt matter.
B) Considering the sales of mobile devices in comparison to the number of "Idiots" who brick there device and send in for warranty, millions of devices sold and probably less than 1% returns due to personal misuse.

My nephew said he found the phone on the road underneath an overpass. Screen digitizer looks damaged, no battery, no battery back cover and all banged up (see pics). He gave it to me to either fix or trash. I would like to get the phone looking new, working and give it back to my nephew running on AT&T's network.
Questions:
1. All the parts I need are compatible with most Note 4's correct? Will these work here and here?
2. Being a T-Mo device, the bootloader should be unlocked correct?
3. If the device is locked (not purchased by cash) can the unlock code be unnecessary by rooting? If not, what are my options since I did not purchase this device?
4. AT&T Roms are not compatible on T-Mo devices running on AT&T network correct? So will T-Mo Rom's work on N910T running on AT&T network?
5. Can I Root, flash Rom and modem?
Greatly appreciate your input, thanks.

I just purchased the T-Mobile variant and I am going to unlock it via http://www.cellunlocker.net. When checking out at cellunlocker.net they displayed a message:
"Please be advised in order to unlock your Samsung Note 4, you MUST activate the phone with the original carrier or SIM issued within your designated location. This must occur before you attempt to unlock and activate the phone with a foreign sim card. The Note 4 has a region lock feature seperate to sim unlocking and if unlocked before activating to its original carrier or continent the phone will be region-locked and must be unlocked directly from Samsung. For more information, please refer to the warning sticker found on the packaging that your phone came in."
Do I just need to get a T-Mobile sim and activate it once? Then boot it up with my ATT sim and enter in the unlock code? Or can I disregard this message?

1) not sure... most of the main parts should be the same.. i.e screen. There may be slight variations with many parts.. such as charging ports.
2)Bootloader is unlocked to my knowledge however Im not certain.
3) Rooting and unlocking are 2 seperate things. The phone will be carrier locked. I have a tmobile Note 4 phone that I run on AT&T. I paid to unlock it on simunlocker. Ive never rooted this phone yet
4)False to my knowledge. There should be no issue at all here
5)YOU cant change the modem to a modem from a different carrier. and there is absolutely no reason to do so. YOu should be able to flash an ATT rom on it if you'd like.
Unfortunately... It is true what others have said. If the phone was not paid for in full by the OG owner( on Tmobiles plan where you pay for the phone month to month)... then it will most likely be black listed at some point. SO you might be able to activate it but 4 months down the road it could suddenly stop working.

If it's blacklisted, nothing short of changing the IMEI # with a JTAG device can save it.
Considering it's physical condition, trash it. I would.

After $200 in parts that I received yesterday, she looks beautiful now . I much rather work on it until its fully operational instead of trashing it.
None the less, still blacklisted and unable to access engineering mode. Any pointers?
Update: Running rooted 5.0.1 with TWRP recovery and have successfully unlocked via imei-unlocker.com. Made a call to a business number, worked fine.
Leads be to believe down the road a few months service may be cut off due to blacklist? I would still like to explore other alternatives to avoid service being possible cut off...

If you are in Canada have you thought about having your Note 7 sim unlocked and using T-Mobile Service. They are free in both Canada and Mexico. You should see if someone has already tried this avenue. Buying a prepaid T-Mobile sim and using it. It would not be blocked on T-Mobile's network.

That is so unfortunate. This whole ordeal is crazy. Out of all the instances there has been no definate explanion. What's even more suspicious is the fact that after the 2 recalls there have been no new reports...just doesn't add up....smh...they can go to hell, can't have mine.
I went as far as threatening Samsung in November about sending the 60% update. I told them that I would buy an iPhone 7 Plus if they did so. Well I had them blocked so they couldn't send it to me. At that time they said there were not going to do it, well at least that's what the people I spoke to thru the Samsung + app told me. I even called T-Mobile that same day threatening to sue if they intentionally bricked my phone.
I purchased an iPhone 7 Plus, and guess what, all it's good for is a hotspot for other devices I have. It can barely do simple task that my original Note did easily. Hell iPhones still can't edit letters in words, that is extremely annoying.
With that being said they will only get my Coral Blue Note 7 the day it burns, explodes, or any other manner of self-destructing...lol
Well most of the F and FD versions are usually unlocked anyway...at least my note 7 (current note 7 is a W8) and S7 were/are.
What we need is to be able to unlock the NA carriers versions...W8, T, A etc..

Hi,
I am new to the forums and I have no idea about flashing etc. I have a Galaxy S8 from T-Mobile. Since we are considering to switch to Verizon (family plan), I am kind of disappointed because I have a T-Mobile phone. I cannot return it, cannot find a proper trade-in deal, or anything without losing hundreds of dollars that I had paid for my phone.
My questions: Is it possible to flash my phone to the new unlocked US version (SM-G950UZKAXAA)? Do I need to network unlock first? Should I be able to use my phone on Verizon properly? Does this void warranty? Am I going to have a clone of the unlocked US version? Briefly, do I lose any functionality of the phone (Samsung pay, updates, security etc.) or the Verizon network (voice, text, LTE)?
Thank you. I am also sorry if this thread is not appropriate.
