The store says to run it from phone or device. I ran it from phone and it says its activated and to just swipe from top left. i've tried that over and over with restarting my gear live and my note 3 and still doesn't work any tips?
Working flawless for me on Gear Live and Note 3 stock uprooted.
Swipe slowly on top left of screen to the right. Do it when the clock face is on and not google now screen.

I had to run the app on the watch manually for the first time (by activating Voice Input and scrolling down to "Start..." and choosing the app there).
After that swiping on the upper left does work well. Maybe that's it for you as well...

i had to do this as well
well for some reason it didnt like the watch face (one of the defaults) i changed it to another and it fixed the issue.
sensitivity / faster light on
Since I used the Mini Launcher I have got the impression that the sensitivity / reaction of the watch has changed.
Now it needs only little movement of the wrist half a turn and the light goes on.
It lights up much too often now.
Can the launcher be the reason or must it be something else?
No change after two resets.
Any ideas what to do?

Hi, I'm about to go for a Neo (don't need a camera), but the reason i returned my original gear was the "turn your wrist to turn the screen on" motin was either
- Too unreliable - meaning i'd be twisting my wrist like a fool just to see the time
- Annoying when i was playing the piano (screen went on/off like crazy)
I'm wondering if this is improved at all? Also, is it possible to actually turn it off completely?
Shame this watch doesn't have an always-on clock....

hi sir, you could actually go to setting, display, then wake up gesture and turn it off. hope this helps.

that will never change
you move your arm --> motion sensor activates the screen
what you can do: lower the screen timeout to 10sec or deactivate the motion completely
settings -> display -> wake-up gesture -> off

Mine is very flaky. Funny thing is I was missing the way my Pebble worked 95% of the time and meant to ask about this until I ran across this thread. With this, wrist flick is maybe 50%, OR I have to do an exaggerated arm raise motion - I can't just look down and flick my wrist like I would on my Pebble to see anything. Also when it does work, it's slow - there's like a half second where I'm waiting in suspense for the display to wake. Maybe you people that came from the older Gears are used to that and it's ok for you, but with my Pebble I was never waiting - maybe it's due to the fact that Pebble is only turning on the backlight from the sensor, as the display is on all the time.
Which brings me to my biggest frustration. I had hoped that somehow an AMOLED screen could be set up to be always on with just the basic info while still saving battery (like active notifications on the Moto devices). I hope that somehow there's a way to work around this and have a simple info display that could be always on (no colors/animations, just white text on the black background to save power). If i needed to charge every night, that's fine. I'd rather have that than look like/feel like an idiot shaking my wrist around and still not getting it to wake up. That's one of the reasons I returned the Sony smartwatch last year.
I just received my NEO yesterday.
The motion sensor *is* rather sensitive and ANY vertical arm motion with even the slightest twisting kicks the phone screen on. At first it's interesting . . . after a while it's a bit annoying.
I would like to have a self-defined motion, or perhaps a bit more control over exactly when it turns on.
At least it would be better if we could reduce the screen time to 3 or 5 seconds that would lessen the distraction.
I turned the motion sensor off and that's actually pretty good -just got a text message and it displayed correctyl, and for now a quick press to see the time is not bad.
Solution for loss of gesture control on Samsung Gear2 Neo.

Over time my neo appeared to become more and more unresponsive to my wrist movements until it stopped completely and only pressing the button allowed me to see the clock. After reading this post and the replies I decided to press the 're-set Gear' switch in 'Settings' on the Neo. This removes all the stored data from the device and restores the factory defaults.
After restoring the Bluetooth link using the gear manager app on my Galaxy S5 gesture control was restored and worked perfectly. Also I switched off the gesture control using the button in 'Settings' under 'Display' and that worked too.
What I can't tell you is why what I did worked. However as the onset of the problem was gradual it might suggest that it might be related to a gradual build-up of data in the Neo's memory that might be a factor affecting the device's performance. I suspect more time deleting alerts and notifications might help, or if you're not using your neo to play music or store photos and videos you could just do what I did as and when the need arises while we wait for Samsung to supply a system upgrade to solve the problem.
I hope this reaches you in time to stop you sending your Neo watch back as I have become very fond of mine. I too play pianos and synths but I've always taken off any watches before playing out of personal preference, but we can always switch our Neos' gesture control off while playing, but beware of any mics nearby picking up it's chimes!
My Neo is no longer responding to the wrist motion. I've tried resetting it to stock numerous times, and reloading (never restoring) all the software.
Could it be that the motion sensor has failed?
I got this in Dec 2014, and I'm really disappointed that this has happened already. It was easily my favorite feature.
Is there any test, or diagnostic I can run to confirm my suspicions?
Samsung Gear S2 Smartwatch Wakeup Gesture Doesn't Work
I had the same problem with my Gear S2. Tried everything, including disabling "Do not disturb", but wakeup gesture still didn't work. Reported problem to seller who sent another S2, but it also did not work.
Got my Gear Live yesterday. The raise arm gesture was flaky compared to my Gear 1 but it was no big deal. Today the raise arm gesture doesn't work at all. My Gear Live does not have notifications disabled. I've reset the Gear multiple times, uninstalled and re-installed the android wear software multiple times (cleared cache and data too) and made sure it was unpaired and re-paired on my phone. If my screen is set to off, it will never come back on unless I press the button or touch my screen. If my screen is set to always be on, it will stay in the lower brightness mode until I touch the screen or press the button.
It seems like the motion sensing or the gesture itself is totally broken after only a day. Anyone else have issues with the gesture? (flakiness or otherwise)

Mine works fine with always-on enabled. If anything it works too well. I wish I could turn the functionality off because my screen is always waking up when I don't want it to.
There were complaints that it was too sensitive, perhaps the latest update has toned it down a little too much.
You do now need a definite arm movement to make it come on.
Lift the arm and roll the wrist around towards you.

I've had mine since Monday and the gesture worked great. About half way through the day yesterday the gesture completely stopped working. I tried to reboot, factory reset but nothing worked. Eventually I held the power button down for about 10 seconds in order to bring up the power menu. Instead the watch just rebooted itself and after that, the gesture started working again. Weird.

i've also found that it responds to the rolling towards your face more than the raising of your arm. (for me at least)

However, I thought the gesture worked better before the recent update. I don't KNOW that the update changed the gesture but it seems less reliable than it did when I first got the watch. Now I seem to get quite a few false activations and sometimes now have to repeat the gesture to make it switch on.
This is not a major issue, don't get me wrong.

Same boat (reboot, factory reset, etc). Held down for 10 seconds, it rebooted, and fixed!
The gesture does NOT work when the watch is on silent. This is most likely your issue.

This is correct - I just tested this with my Samsung Gear Live. If notifications are not muted, the 'lift arm and roll wrist' gesture will wake the watch.
This works even when the watch face is not set to 'Always On' in the Android Wear settings menu.
I come from the Gear Fit where you can switch off this automatic gesture completely. I hope this setting will show up within Android Wear soon. I drove with my car tonight and the watch was constantly waking up showing me the same card all over again and again while steering... Argh.
Is there some kind of patch or adb setting where I can change this?
TIA

I guess for the time being, you could just mute notifications while driving. Unless of course you want them to come through while driving.
My problem is it is too sensitivity.
Scratch my nose the watch wakes and this drains the battery

Hi, I have a problem with my sony z3 compact, the notification dropdown dropsdown often with a very light tap.
It's so sensitive that the notification bar drops often by itself by tapping apps buttons which are at the top of the screen (back in gmail, whatsapp etc.)
Try it for yourself by tapping lightly at the base of the "o" on the sony logo.
is this a hardware fault with my unit or does your z3 compact do the same?

I think it's meant to behave that way.
Do you sometimes have the problem where home screens, pictures, etc bounce back unintended when you swipe through them?

I made a video illustrating the issue:
http://youtu.be/YOXADb5NgPI
I suppose it is a software choice rather than a hardware one, however my samsung S4 and my old experia ray don't behave this way. You must slide the finger vertically over a portion of the screen to enable the notification dropdown, tapping would not automatically drop down the full notification screen. To me this sounds like a problem because it makes it hard to click buttons at the top of the screen most as of the time the damned notification menu drops down covering the whole screen.
I searched for an option under settings to change the notification settings but either I can't find it or there isn't anything to change it from tap to slide.
Regarding your question I'm not sure, I don't think so. The only issue I noticed (aside from the notification dropdown activated by tap (really annoying) is the camera:
If you set a lock option and unlock the phone by using the camera icon, and then you change the camera mode the phone locks itself again. Basically the 'unlock using the camera icon' let's you take pictures with the selected camera mode without unlocking the phone, but you still have to unlock the phone to use any other phone feature.

Thanks for the fast reply, don't you find that the statusbar drops down accidentally too often when navigating the top portion of the screen? it's a bit annoying IMHO (or perhaps I have big hands )
I'll need to check in the play store to see whether there are apps that let you change the way the notification bar is activated
It hasn't bothered me, so far.
Though I just checked on my Xperia Z2 Tablet and it doesn't behave that way on that one. Maybe the Z3C's touch screen is just too sensitive, as a side effect of the technology that makes the glove mode possible?

Has this never happened to you with this phone? Mostly when using it with one hand only.

No it hasn't (but I need to pay more attention when using a single hand, will get back to you ). I tend to use two hands because, being the device so smooth I need to be careful and fight gravity quite a lot, I managed to almost drop it two times as it tends to slide from my hand

I have the same Problem with the sensitive notification menu... just lightliy tap anywhere close to it and it springs down and covers the whole screen. Coming from iOS where these things weren't even an issue, it's very annoying. It's currently the main reason why I want to try a different ROM.... Problem is I'm somehow unable to unlock my bootloader, and even then I'm not yet sure how to change the ROM. Damn, on iOS things were so simple... jailbreak tool, go to cydia, customise everything however I want....

Not sure if this will solve your problem, but you can check out All In One Gestures from the Play Store and activate tapping the status bar to do "nothing" by leaving it blank.
Edited: N/m, just tried it, didn't work. Still a useful app though! I'm using it for full immersive mode, so that's kind of another way to solve the status bar problem.

I gave it a go and it didn't work either, sony must do some lowerlevel tweaking to the notification bar.
I hope they fix it soon
Another sony dumb crap that I hate. It's so damn sensitive that it pulls down every time I use the phone to my ear. Sometime some quick settings activated and I had no idea wtf happened.
Dumb fuc.k sony is so annoying. Even my Z3C is rooted, I haven't found a way to disable this crap. Full of crapwares, cheap crappy glass and display, now this. Seriously all sony engineers and designers should just eat shi.t and die.
I thought I was alone in this. I've become fed up in call pull the phone away from my ear and it activates the pull down. Sigh.
I have an LG G Watch R.
immediately after this update about 1.5 weeks ago that I installed my watch no longer functions as it functioned before.
I no longer get call notifications on the watch. previously when a call came in the watch would start vibrating the caller image would appear and I could answer or ignore from the watch.
this no longer occurs (HUGE functionality loss for me)
also "always on" no longer works. it always turns off VERY rapidly after a few short seconds and you can only turn it on again by pressing the button. no "ambient" mode any more.
and of course since ambient is off (I assume) twist to full on does not work anymore
touch will not wake it up twist will not wake it up ONLY pressing the button.
suggestions? these are simply massively functionality losses to me I flat out would not have bought it if it functioned this way when I got it. what's the point?
I am hoping this is something I can fix. yes I checked android wear no joy. I uncheck and recheck always on and the watch comes on for a second and then goes off again. still have to press the button to make it live again.

That, or you can push the button twice really fast. Does the same thing, just quicker...
Thank you so much both of you that was exactly the problem watch is working normally now double tap and I noticed there was a tiny little icon in the middle of the screen look kind of like a little microphone icon the line through it very tiny but now I know what to look for if it happens again again thank you
Now there is another long topic on freezing, but its basically about 10seconds freeze , then things normal and stuff. Mine is different so I made a new topic.
Have sprint note. On Marshmellow now but happened on Lollipop as well.
The problem is:
After several hours of use, or may even a day, the phone just freezes....partly. Let me explain. Basically if you touch anywhere on the screen, it won't register the touch. If you hit the hard recents button, it'll show recents, but you can't click any program (it doesn't register your touch). When it first happened I thought I needed a new screen, but quickly found out I probably don't: If I hit the nav bar, it will pull down full screen, and if I have it full of notifications, I can click any of the notifications, whether its near the top, middle, or bottom, and it registers the touch and sends me to the app. But then again, at that app, the screen doesn't register. Even if I touch in the same place on the screen where I clicked the notification that sent me to the app. But the nav bar still works. It recognizes the touch, and will pull down full screen, and I can click anywhere on the screen and my touch will register. Also if I hold the power button and the reboot options come up (which on mine has option from top down to bottom, I can click any option on the screen, and it will register my touch. But if I hit the home button, the whole screen is non responsive. So I have a partial freeze. The whole screen doesn't work, but then the whole screen will work when I pull the nav bar down, so im totally confused. I already tried usually differnt launchers, but same thing, after while, screen will be non responsive
If I reboot then everything works fine and normal, so I doubt its a screen issue. Because if its broke its broke. Also tried a hard reset, problem still came back. I guess it may be an app clashing problem but I have over 100 apps it could be any one of them
Has anybody experienced something similar?
I had a buddy give me an LG Lucid3 that had a similar issue... It actually got worse over time and the touchscreen totally stopped working. (He thought) I took it apart and actually the connection was good. Put it back together and just kept rebooting it multiple times in a row. Finally, the touch started to work a little an for some reason I thought to go and download an antivirus program. The phone had 11. Got rid of them and phone has been working fine for a couple weeks now. Idk if that's your problem but I figured I'd share this experience because I've never seen anything like it.
