does chronickernel that's in the unified development forum work with at&t gs5 since it is a touchwiz kernel? or would that be a bad idea?

We need our bootloader unlocked. Unless you have a tmobile or sprint branded device your screwed for now. But feel free to try a rom from the development threads.

The only way to MAYBE flash ROMS is still in ALPHA testing and it is not a true flash but a way to load ROMS and fake the boot system.
Currently there is no way to flash ROMS to this phone.

From what i saw in the thread about safe strap the ROMS have to be tweaked to work with safestrap so only ROMS developed around safestrap will work.. Even then it is still iffy if they will fully work.

Solarenemy68's reply seemed easy to understand to me. Are you having difficulty understanding it? In case you did not understand it...you can NOT flash ANY rom on the att N3. None. Zip. Nadda. Nothing. The bootloader is locked. Without an unlocked bootloader, you are not currently able to flash a new rom. If you do, you will brick your N3. Period.
If you want to flash new roms on a N3, you should have purchased a T-Mo N3 as that bootloader was not locked.
I hope this clarifies things for you.

Wow! Bad day at work?
We can flash roms using safe strap recovery by @Hashcode . It works fine and even gives you "multi boot" that most devices would die for!
Roms are coming already and things are getting good. International roms can be ported. T-Mobile roms run without much of a fuss.
We CANNOT flash bootloader, kernels, or modems. But with a locked bootloader this is about as good as it gets.
If your going to give someone information, at least give them correct information.

Didn't have a bad day. Didn't intend to sound rude. Your signature indicates that you have a N9005 not a N900A. If I am mistaken, please correct me. I've had a N900A since launch day and have been following the development quite closely, I thought. While the N9005 and the N900T have unlocked bootloaders, I have not seen anything other than alpha testing for the N900A, and @Hashcode has not yet released Safestrap for the N900A.
Please post some links for loading roms onto the N900A, or apologize as it is you that seems to be providing the incorrect information that can potentially damage someone's device. If you are correct about SAFELY flashing roms onto the n900A, I will post an apology to you and the OP.
Thank you.

No need in apologizing to me, we are all here to learn and help!
Safe Strap can be found here
First official FLASABLE rom for the SM-9005A
How to modify International roms to work for us
These threads are full of WIN for all SM-9005A owners
My signature shows that because I am running X-Note 7.0 from the SM-9005 on my ATT device

I do indeed apologize. SS became available on the 16th and the first flashable rom became available yesterday. I missed both.
Apparently, roms are now flashable via SafeStrap. My apologies to the OP as well.

So I came from an S4 and I noticed in the forum that you were able to flash some of other carriers(Verizon) roms onto your phone. I was wondering if that was possible on our note 3 with Verizon roms? Please let me know as I have been looking online but I can't seem to find the answer.

I think you can because Brian's Dynamic Kat rom also works on T-Mobile. It probably depends on the rom, ask the developer.
They can but they have to be ported over and you can't use any that use a custom kernel because we can't use those yet on att ?. There are a few ported ones in dev for jb, but not sure there is a Kk one from Verizon yet

OK I know this should be in the question section, but this section gets more traffic.
Has anyone checked the S4 Bootloader unlock methods with the new update from ATT

There are no S4 bootloader unlock methods, so there's nothing to try.
Then why can you install Cyanogen Mod on the AT&T S4? At least I thought you could. I'll do more research. I am just really wanting CM11 on my phone.

You cannot install CM on the AT&T S4 (i337), the bootloader is locked. There was a point over a year ago where there was an exploit for the bootloader that would allow you to install any ROM known as Loki. But that was patched with the very first update AT&T pushed out. There are very few people who still have that version.
The S4 Active was released after that vulnerability had been patched, so there was never a version of the Active where you could install custom ROMs.
If you want an unlocked bootloader, buy an international version of the phone you want, never buy a phone branded by either AT&T or Verizon. You're only other option with the i537 is to install SafeStrap, you will be able to install TouchWiz-based custom ROMs, but no CM and no AOSP.
Hello everybody! I am here today to ask a simple questions. What is the future of the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 Active (Otherwise known as the G870A) What I mean by this is things like, will we be seeing more and more ROM's? Will we be finally breaking the hideous locked bootloader !!!

Unlocking the boot loader is very unlikely. On the other hand, several ROMs are now out for LP, and should be ready to go on the G870A. Keep reading, there is lots of good stuff going on.
Can you direct me towards the general forum where the G870A Roms are? Because where I'm looking, there's only one LP Rom
There are 3 Roms out for Lollipop right now, and all are able to be used on the Active...you just won't have the use of the active key.
I saw on YouTube s7 rom porting to s4 but I have s4 active how will I do ?
Actually @JASONRR is trying to... Well he is the only one I know that has been actively porting touchwiz ROMs here... Another option is that you can use masterpatch of him into that ROM you are saying, together with his kernel...

If you have the SGH-i537 (AT&T U.S.A. model): If the ROM in question is for the AT&T Galaxy S4 (or really any variant that isn't either Verizon or Sprint) you can always try flashing it with the masterpatch from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-active/general/golden-eye-v52-s4-active-wip-t3094259
You will have to already be on lollipop rooted. If you are on lollipop unrooted, you will have to follow the instructions in my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63639949&postcount=2
Congratulations and thanks for inadvertently volunteering to be our guinea pig. If you can link to the XDA thread for the ROM you are talking about, maybe I can give it a whirl too. That's a definite maybe though because my screen is about to go for good (my gf lost my old i537, and the one I got from my brother has a cracked screen and the LCD is dying a painful albeit trippy death).
If you have the international model GT-i9295: I would recommend using this masterpatch instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ster-patch-i9505-tw-based-lp-roms-to-t3156521 You will still have to start from lollipop rooted, but ignore my rooting instructions
