Dear All,
I'm trying to S-OFF my girlfriends HTC ONE M7 for a few days now and can't get anywhere. I wonder if not having "version-main" and "OS-" in fastboot/hboot might have something to do with it ?

Any idea what to do with this phone to s-off?
I've tried so many ROMs and Kernels I don't remember them all by now...
I've run rumrunner on Windows 7 and on Ubuntu, I've run firewater on Windows 7, Ubuntu and OS X, it opens a couple of bottles but then asks to re-run again, again, again and again...
Any suggestions would be welcome!
Thanks

Remove your imei and serial number from your output above, its dangerous to post them.
if you've tried various rom's and kernels, then you are also on the list of unfortunate ones who cant get s-off at the moment, all you can do is wait or try and get it s-off'd by java card.
OS and version-main missing is not an issue, its a common problem from installing a custom recovery and will not effect your phone in any way.

First, edit your original post and remove imei and serial numbers you don't want it to get out to the internet!
It looks like you don't have a rom installed after you wiped or factory reset. Take a look at this post No OS installed it might help you. After you get the rom installed then try firewater again.
Thanks guys, forgot to remove IMEI and SN
In the process of re-flashing all roms and kernels I accidentally wiped /system yes, so I had to re-flash via ADB sideload, so by now I do have a ROM installed again.
I actually went to some kind of Stock using one of Guru's Nandroid Backups.
As for S-Off, there is no indication what so ever why it doesn't work with some?
Of course it's obvious if rumrunner or firewater tell you that it doesn't work, but as I said, I got quite a few bottles open, but then nothing...
I'll just have to wait for the next solution to come along?

in HBOOT 1.56 and 1.57 HTC have made it near as damn impossible to get s-off anymore, some lucky ones are still managing to get it, I guess HTC just got fed up of all the warranty returns from people killing there devices whilst s-off who didn't actually know what they were doing.
Rumrunner for me used to open 8 bottles, no matter which rom I used and then say please re-run after restart.
Firewater used to open a couple of bottles then i'd get the whelp message.
I ended up paying a shop to s-off mine by java card, cost me £15 GBP.
I guess I'd have to see if the "Java Card" option is available here in Bolivia...
Thanks

I have the Google Play Edition HTC One 32 GB. I've had it for months and I love the device- I did some rooting early on because I had bad experiences with old android locked down UIs, but I found I loved the google experience and didn't really need it. I was able to sideload the 4.3 ROM a while back, but when it came time to get the 4.4 rom it wouldn't accept it. I somehow decided a factory reset would reset it to how I got it, and that is apparently not the case.
So now what I have is a phone with 4.2.2 and it is not accepting OTA updates - when I try the ota update it gives me the red Error! Android, and when I try to push an RUU zip I get a 99 Unknown Error. I think the issue may be because somehow in this process my device got switched back to S-ON, I'm not sure when that happened.
I'm not sure where to go from here- I somehow have an Unlocked Bootloader with S-On HBOOT-1.54. Right now my bootloader says the following:
Code:
*** TAMPERED ***
*** UNLOCKED***
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.54.0000
What I would like to get to somehow is a 4.4 android device that can accept future OTA updates. I don't need the device to be rooted. If anyone could help me with some next steps I'd really appreciate it.
If I have messed up the device too far, is there some standard set up procedures I can take that will just get it back to how I originally received it? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
Also if it helps here is my fastboot getvar all:

There are a lot of issues reported in trying to get to 4.4 so tread carefully.
Under no circumstances should you lock the bootloader. Your best bet is to s-off and run 4.4 ruu zip.
That worked thanks! I'm now on 4.4 with s-off and I should be all set for the next ota.

Hi Guy's
I am running a HTC one M7, Bought outright in Australia unlocked
-When I first got the phone I got rid of sense and rooted it and loaded up Bigxie Google rom 4.3
-I decided today to try upgrade to 4.4, I made a big mistake and went ahead and did it without S-Offing
-Long story short I had to side load 4.3 again after getting the Bootloop with 4.4 I assume due to no S-Off
After getting the phone back up and running again on 4.3 I have spent the last 8 Hours trying to S-Off
So far I have tried RumRunner, Firewater, temproot then firewater and Revone. All seem to fail or just finish with
no error, Rumrunner mentioned something about an Unsecure Kernel I am running kernel "3.4.10-ge22f38b"
Im running HBOOT-1.54
SuperSU v1.94
CWM 6.0.4.8
Anything you can suggest? is it possible to change kernels and if so what to?

hmm, no version-main.
anyway, hboot and radio would indicate a 2.24 version, so find a custom ROM (such as http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407589210 )
which is rooted and has an unsecured kernel
then try firewater and rumrunner
But please remember S-Off allows you to do a lot of things, including hard-bricking your phone, so do this only if you feel you are good with the idea of S-Off and have done some research about the various components of your phone.
.
Thanks, I will try.
Really the only reason I want S-Off is so I can load

Just an update, I finally got S-Off, at first I wasn't going to bother with continuing my Quest to S-Off my HTC One after how much difficulty
I had however after having glitchy issues with my Google 4.3 ROM I delved in again and ended up flashing the Latest ViperOne venom Rom, after this I tried RumRunner again and after a while it successfully S-Off'd, now going to retry loading Google 4.4, maybe I should give the Viper ROM a go but I just like the look of the google rom more I think
Thanks a bunch for all the help in this post and the forum
Hello,

I have it Dev HTC Unlocked with TWRP installed and working. I can push files to the phone via adb or fastboot. I accidentally wiped all data. Most ROMS I push to it won't work right. It loads up, and I get to the lock screen, but when I unlock I just get the HTC Splash. The ROM will eventually reboot on its own as well. Often get HTC Dialer failure.
Even if I turn it off, it just eventually turns back on and will load the ROM and then reboot eventually.
How can I get this phone a working ROM again? Is my best option to use the RUU process? If so, which one should I use?
I just don't want to do anymore damage to the phone, and just need to get a working ROM on there.
It's almost like there is no radio or firmware, and the ROMs won't work right.
My research is pointing me to this RUU:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658910
Can anyone confirm this is the route I should go? Looks like I need to Relock my bootloader....do I also need to install the firmware file mentioned?

Thanks so much for the quick reply. So I currently have a ROM that will boot into the OS before rebooting. So I should be able to flash this:

Think so. ONce you have radio you may also need to launch superuser and update the binaries - seeing some threads about that.

Flashed Radio via recovery and that solved all issues but the rebooting. Flashing SuperSU solved the rebooting. Up and running again. Thanks for the help!
Glad to hear it!
Hey guys, Nate here.
Problem: My Sprint HTC One will no longer boot up all the way. It gets stuck on the HTC Powered By Android screen. I still have access to the bootloader and have tried a bunch of things but now I'm at the end.
Long story short, I was attempting to root my phone so I could use the tether feature to save $50 on a wifi receiver for the pc. But that didn't go well. In the process of flashing the ROM the phone wouldn't boot anymore. Started doing some looking around found this thread. I flashed the full firmware ruu(successfully) and attempted to use the Sprint HTC One | 5.03.651.3 RUU to install the stock OS again. However when I run the ARUWizard and go through the steps, it freezes at (1/6 Sending). I don't receive any errors at all, it just freezes. I am pretty tech smart when it comes to computer software, but don't know much about Android, obviously.
At this point I just want to get my phone back to normal since rooting is over my head. But I don't want to take it a repair shop and spend money that I don't have if it's not 100% necessary. So any advice would be happily welcome.

HI there,
I know nothing about this stuff but i got a rooted phone. I followed the instruction on a YouTube video (never again) but for some reason the RUU gets stuck at 5%. Now I cant go back and its stuck on bootloader. What should i do?
When i go on recover or factory reset the bootloader just comes back up
I tried the uk 02 RUU
The phone is htc one M7
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
I have tried searching for this problem but the solution i can find needs access to the phone.

I'm not familiar with the Window GUI tools but it is possible that your RUU is not compatible with your HBOOT version. Try using an old RUU, possibly a JB (4.2) version.
What's the RUU version you are trying to use anyway?

His phone is S-ON so he can't use a 4.2 ruu (its a downgrade). He must flash same or higher version ruu as his current firmware. We can't know his firmware version because twrp wiped the os version form the bootloader (blank os-).
If he remember what the firmware version was then he could flash a ruu of the same or higher version (if any) or he could restore same version nandroid backup. I know there is a lollipop RUU for O2 in the general section but not sure if it can be flashed on s-on phone cause it doesn't seem to be an official RUU (combined).
Otherwise he can flash custom roms or even flash custom rom, achieve s-off and then he can use any RUU he wants.

Flash the 7.18.206.2 ruu from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/general/lollipop-ruu-zip-small-collection-t3053944
Read the flashing instructions first, use htc_fastboot to flash, when flashing the phone will reboot part way through and continue. Leave it alone 10-15 minutes and be sure it says finished.
