Hi guys,
I know this is an old topic and I have tried my best to find the answer on the forum. I just received the new 6.07.1540 OTA. I tried to run it but I get the red triangle soon after the install kicks off. First, here is my configuration. My phone is factory unlocked version. I was once on a custom ROM but since I have run RUU and gone stock. I am on Stock Recovery and my bootloader is Relocked. One thing I forgot was my Cid which I changed to superid previously. Since I could not remember my old cid I changed it to HTC_001. I am using the stock recovery corresponding to HTC_001 cid.
I am Rooted and S Off.
I have tried the manual install of OTA using the Vol + - and power button at the red triangle but with the same result. What am I missing? I don't want to wipe my phone again. Is there a way to install this OTA without RUU again?
Please advice...
thanks in advance...

Your stock recovery (5.19.1540.9) and cid (BS_US001) should match the variant/version you are trying to update. Check out this post for information on the OTA requirements and this one on how to find out what error is stopping the update.
and you don't need to relock bootloader for ota updates.

Thanks for the reply. My recovery version is 5.11.1540.9 (Software Number in Settings). Since I forgot what my Cid was how can I find out the correct cid? I will check out these links as well. The error I am getting is

like majmoz said, cid for your OS version is BS_US001
if you have flashed recovery for HTC__001, then you have flashed the wrong one.

Your stock recovery should be the same as your OS which is 5.11.1540.9. You can extract the recovery.img from the firmware here. Flash it with the instructions below:
In bootloader/FASTBOOT USB:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader

Ok, I fixed it. I used Revone to remove Relocked flag and reran the recovery.img. It was successful. Now I wonder if my OTA will work or do I have to relock the bootloader for OTA to work?????

I have searched the forums, and I can not find the answer to my specific situation. Please forgive me if it is there somewhere. The story…….
- last working ROM was VIVO ICS official, RUU installed. (RUU_VIVO_ICS_35_S_HTC_WWE_4.10.405.1_Radio_20.74.30.0833U_3831.18.00.11_M_release_266013_signed.exe). HBOOT was changed to 2.02 S-ON, bootloader locked. I unlocked via HTCdev. Before this I had IceColdSandwich 8.1.1, ENG Hboot S-OFF. I had originally used the GB downgrade ROM to S-OFF, and restored IceCold backup after this.
- I wanted to be S-OFF again, and so tried installing this zip using CWM Recovery, following the advice of tpbklake:
vivo_signed_WWE_4.10.405.1_ICS_SENSE36_5.zip Version 1.1
(from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756500&page=1)
- now boot loop. I tried reinstalling other ROMs which I have successfully installed in the past (GB downgrade, stock ICS), and also restore various backups, but all result in boot loop (stuck on white HTC screen). Each time I would use CWM Recovery to clear dalvik, cache etc.
- I have now followed 'fix' instructions in that same thread, ie. :
1. Download the file lib.zip from here: http://bit.ly/PwK4BH
2. Unzip the lib.img and place it on your PC where you have fastboot.exe installed.
3. Boot into FASTBOOT USB mode and then enter the following command:
fastboot flash lib lib.img
4. Download the file format_lib_update.zip from here: http://bit.ly/RIpEUL
5. Copy it to your SD card.
6. Boot into recovery and then install format_lib_update.zip
7. While in recovery format the SYSTEM partition.
8. Then reinstall vivo_signed_WWE_4.10.405.1_ICS_SENSE36_5.zip
But at step 3 I get the following:
C:\adb>fastboot flash lib lib.img
sending 'lib' (155648 KB)...
OKAY [ 27.553s]
writing 'lib'...
(bootloader) signature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 52.417s

Please help! I’m close to considering myself properly bricked, and using that as an excuse to go and buy a OneX.

OK, so what is the state of your HBOOT? Are you still HBOOT 2.02.0002 UNLOCKED?
When you are using the an unlocked HTC HBOOT and you flash a custom ROM in CWM, you then manually have to extract the boot.img file from that ROM's zip file and flash it manually in FASTBOOT USB mode. If you don't do that, you will get a boot loop.
What you need to do if you can still get into CWM and the bootloader is still UNLOCKED is reflash that ROM again and then flash the boot.img file in FASTBOOT mode and you should be ok.

Well then you can always relock the bootloader and then run the 4.10.405.1 RUU like you did originally. Then you can unlock the bootloader since you already have the unlock_code.bin file.

Once you get back to that point, unlock the bootloader, install ClockworkMod and then flash su-3.0.7-efghi.zip to root the official ROM. Then you should be able to rerun the downgrade process to get back to S-OFF.

Thanks very much. The stock ICS RUU has now installed successfully. I guess when I originally tried to reinstall it, I had left out the 'RELOCK' step, which is why it failed.
So now I am back to the start (stock ICS + HBOOT 2.02 S-ON), and want to get S-OFF and install your ROM zip. ,What I originally intended to do to get S-OFF was:
1) Unlock the bootloader, flash CWM Recovery, flash SU
2) Run downgrade GB RUU
3) S-off with Revolutionary
4) Install Blackrose HBOOT
5) Install your vivo_signed_WWE_4.10.405.1_ICS_SENSE36_5.zip
But step 2) failed with an unknown error. (I then tried to install your zip, and the rest is the sad history.....).
So what caused step 2 to fail? Did I need to relock the bootloader first?
Many thanks for your help, tpbklake

What is the status of your bootloader? Is it locked, unlocked or relocked? If it is locked you may have to answer n to is the phone rooted to give temp root. If not on page 76 of this post there is the same issue.

And fyi it will not change the h boot version, only the main ver which is reported at the end of the script.

Yeah I wouldn't want it to update hboot. I'm setting everything up on the new rom and will try the firmware flash again. Maybe my computer needs a reboot or something. (I hate Windows 8.1)

I didn't think the drivers worked on Win 8.1. Do you have hboot 1.55?

hmm, I'll have to look into that...
my first htc phone.
I have s-off and dont know exactly what to do to update it so i just have a question.
If i use the unmodified firmware would it remove my s-off or will it stay and everything just updates or should i just do the modified firmware and dont worry about the latest hboot?
my hboot says 1.44
thanks in advance.

Firmware = radios and such

I have a HTC ONE M7 that's locked with Bell Mobility, I recently bought off some guy who rooted it to android revolution hd 71.1 running 4.4.2 , I wanted to convert it back to stock, so I followed this tutorial.
"YOUTUBE VIDEO: How to Unroot/Unbrick the HTC One to Stock BY qbking77"
First of all, I'm a complete noob at this, I've been using iPhone prior and this is my first android. I'm unaware of what the difference is with OTA RUU and normal RUU.
When I followed that tutorial I had done every step up to entering the command prompt "fastboot oem lock" the phone reset and now I'm at bootloader, being the idiot I am, in the video the guy had some .exe file to open but in my file there isn't any (btw the OS is 3.23.66.1) the link I downloaded was this:
"SEARCH ON GOOGLE: 3.23.666.1 AND CLICK THIRD LINK FROM HTC1GURU.COM"
I've tried getting out of the bootloader, but it keeps returning to there, please help I'm very scared! I just want to get back to the way it was and just pay someone to get it back to normal.
EDIT: Currently the Bootloader says the following:

@Rembokz Any news? Is your phone booting to the stock rom now?
If yes, you'll also have to flash the stock recovery as the last step if you want to install updates.

Yes it works! I managed to access google play store, activate my google account, and download apps, all of which I couldn't do before. By flashing the stock recovery, does that mean I have to do that in order to make software updates such as Android Lollipop in the future? BTW, Thank you so much!

Yes and there are already newer versions than 3.23.666.1 so you should be able to update it after flashing the stock recovery.
The recovery file you need is here
save it in the same folder where you have adb and fastboot on your computer
reboot in bootloader/fastboot usb mode
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery_3.23.666.1.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot
then:
Settings --> About --> Software update --> Check now
Latest version for your phone should be 6.XX.666.X with HTC Sense 6 and Android 4.4.3 (there should be more than 1 update so repeat the same process after each update until it says: Your phone is up to date / There are no updates available for your phone)
Lollipop is expected to be released early 2015
BTW, Thank you so much!

You can't install updates with twrp recovery hence why I told you to flash the stock recovery in my last post
just hold power and volume down until you are back in the bootloader then flash the stock recovery
once the stock recovery is flashed reboot to android and re-check for updates.

You will receive a notification when there will be an update available. No need to flash anything
I'm sure(or at least hoping) this has been answered elsewhere, but after 6 hours of searching I'm in desperation mode. Here's where I'm at:
Brand new Sprint M8 HK edition
cid: SPCS_004
version_main: 1.54.654.13
modelid: 0P8B70000
radio: 1.05.20.0321_2
Rooted with SuperSU, TWRP 2.8.1 (2.8.3 won't work, gets stuck on loading recovery), S-ON
I thought I could flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2706441 without being S-off, and stupidly did not make a backup. Flashing appeared to go fine, but after rebooting the phone goes straight to the bootloader. I can still access TWRP, and have tried to flash multiple ROM's/Firmware to get the phone in any working config, but no matter what I do I can't get anything to flash.
If I try to flash 1.54.654.9 Full Firmware from RUU from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173 I get the FAILED (remote: 99 unknown fail) error. Research said to lock the bootloader, which I did, but then I get the FAILED (remote signature verify fail).
The ultimate goal is to get stock android running on the M8(recently lost my Nexus 5 which I loved), but at this point I'd take any working OS so I can simply use the phone.
I've been using fastboot to flash as I don't have ready access to a microSD card reader.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and met with BTC tips.
Download the ROM from the link below. Make sure you do a full wipe in recovery first. Then flash the ROM.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407590598
The full firmware you're attempting to install won't install because you're S-on and you cannot downgrade firmware while S-on. If this doesn't work you'll need to relock your bootloader and flash the latest RUU from the link you posted (software version 3.31.654.2).

Thanks for the reply. Downloaded the ROM you linked, got the following:
$ sudo fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
target reported max download size of 1830711296 bytes

OKAY [ 3.070s]

Is that expected?
Yes, that's expected, because that's not how you flash a ROM.
Can you push the ROM to your phone and then try flashing it via recovery? You mentioned not having a microSD card reader but I presume you have a microSD card, correct? If so push the ROM to the card, do a full wipe in recovery (Dalvik cache, cache, data & system), then flash the ROM.

Thanks for trudging along with me, still learning here. I pushed the ROM you linked to my sdcard via adb, did a full wipe, and went to install:
Installing ' /sdcard/firmware.zip'...
Checking for MD5 file...
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found
file_getprop: failed to stat " /system/build.prop": No such file or directory
E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/firmware.zip'
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/firmware2.zip'
I was able to flash the GPe ROM successfully using this method, but my phone still reboots to bootloader...
Odd.
At any rate, you're going to need to update your firmware, otherwise you won't be able to properly run the GPE port to begin with.
Thanks again. I was able to recover to stock image with the RUU you suggested. Do you have any suggestions/links for ROMS with stock android? And do you have a BTC address?
You can take a look at the thread in the link below (the first post, actually).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173
I don't have a BTC address.
