I have a HTC ONE M7 that's locked with Bell Mobility, I recently bought off some guy who rooted it to android revolution hd 71.1 running 4.4.2 , I wanted to convert it back to stock, so I followed this tutorial.
"YOUTUBE VIDEO: How to Unroot/Unbrick the HTC One to Stock BY qbking77"
First of all, I'm a complete noob at this, I've been using iPhone prior and this is my first android. I'm unaware of what the difference is with OTA RUU and normal RUU.
When I followed that tutorial I had done every step up to entering the command prompt "fastboot oem lock" the phone reset and now I'm at bootloader, being the idiot I am, in the video the guy had some .exe file to open but in my file there isn't any (btw the OS is 3.23.66.1) the link I downloaded was this:
"SEARCH ON GOOGLE: 3.23.666.1 AND CLICK THIRD LINK FROM HTC1GURU.COM"
I've tried getting out of the bootloader, but it keeps returning to there, please help I'm very scared! I just want to get back to the way it was and just pay someone to get it back to normal.
EDIT: Currently the Bootloader says the following:

@Rembokz Any news? Is your phone booting to the stock rom now?
If yes, you'll also have to flash the stock recovery as the last step if you want to install updates.

Yes it works! I managed to access google play store, activate my google account, and download apps, all of which I couldn't do before. By flashing the stock recovery, does that mean I have to do that in order to make software updates such as Android Lollipop in the future? BTW, Thank you so much!

Yes and there are already newer versions than 3.23.666.1 so you should be able to update it after flashing the stock recovery.
The recovery file you need is here
save it in the same folder where you have adb and fastboot on your computer
reboot in bootloader/fastboot usb mode
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery_3.23.666.1.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot
then:
Settings --> About --> Software update --> Check now
Latest version for your phone should be 6.XX.666.X with HTC Sense 6 and Android 4.4.3 (there should be more than 1 update so repeat the same process after each update until it says: Your phone is up to date / There are no updates available for your phone)
Lollipop is expected to be released early 2015
BTW, Thank you so much!

You can't install updates with twrp recovery hence why I told you to flash the stock recovery in my last post
just hold power and volume down until you are back in the bootloader then flash the stock recovery
once the stock recovery is flashed reboot to android and re-check for updates.

Hi,
I used the procedure here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14693680) to root and install CWM v4.0.1.4 on my Incredible S and while I was trying to flash a custom ROM onto my phone during CWM recovery, I kind of screwed up by wiping everything and not doing Backup.. I've been trying to find the Stock ROM for my phone to at least resume normal phone usage but I have been unable to find any. I've tried installing a lot of Custom ROMs including Cyanogen mod 7.1, Virtuous Quattro rc3, BinDroid RUNMED2.5, RCMix.Energized 2.21, etc, etc but nothing works. I desperately need advice as my phone is super important for my work :\
Please advise!

I'm not sure how to find out my region. I bought this phone 2nd-hand so I'm not sure about the specific details. I have the box and it says it's made in Taiwan. Do I provide the IMEI, S/N or P/N?
Sorry but what's a boot.img? :|

So I wiped (data/cache/Dalvik cache) and flashed the CM7.1.0 mod and now it works!! Amazing.. I spent 8 hours working previously and nothing worked. I shall try it on my real desired ROM later.
THANKS A LOT!

Ok so if you were able to follow the procedure you quoted to install CWM, then you have adb and fastboot installed on your PC, so reboot the phone into FASTBOOT USB mode and then enter the following command and then post the results:
fastboot getvar all
Also was your HBOOT 1.16 S-Off or simply UNLOCKED before you flashed CWM?

Hi! Thanks for your input. Somehow the CM7.1.0 Mod was successfully flashed after I flashed the boot.img. No idea why though.. I am still on S-ON though, unlocked via HTCdev yeap..
Btw since I'm on the topic of custom ROMs on HBOOT 1.16.0000 with S-ON yet flashable, is it safe to say I can use the other ROMs that are available out there?

Yes, but you will have to manually flash the boot.img file from each custom ROM's zip file with the unlocked bootloader.
I have an AT&T turned into GPe. After it finished downloading the 4.4 OTA it restarted into TWRP 2.6.3.0 and it launched the Google word and a blue screen appeared. I already tried through TWRP flashing from USB-OTG but I get Updating partition details... and an inmediate Failed. I tried also wipe cache/dalvik and SD data but same sth. Also tried with ADB Sideload but i get error: closed and if I get to copy stock 4.4 or 4.3 through ADB Sideload it gets to 100% on PC but inmediately appears on TWRP Failed. Could you please give me a detailed description of the steps I should take? Can I flash the ROM from stock recovery? How do I copy the OTA to the SD-card if PC only recognizes it only by fastboot or adb sideload, and in sideload apparently after copying it when it gets to 100% it says Failed. Thanks
I have the exact same problem. I am going crazy. I am used to Nexus devices and if I get an error as this one, I just flash the factory image. In this case is extremely more complex than that. I had Stock 4.3. Suddenly my device showed to get the OTA, TWRP started to flash it and now I can't use it. I have S-ON. Blueish/Greenish screen every time I turn it on. What would be the steps to flash stock "image" and start all over again? Please help, I've read too much and no answer.

custom recovery (ie CWM or TWRP) won't be able to install the OTA, and you don't really need to copy the OTA to PC.
the reason it's not installing, is that when it reboots to TWRP, it is actually expection "stock recovery", which can complete the process
you flash "stock recovery", using bootloader/FASTBOOT USB:
fastboot flash recovery <name of stock recovery>.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot
and then the OTA will install properly, no need to do it manually.
your "OS-3.07.1700.1", so you need the stock recovery for that, I'm gonna look a litlle later and see if i can find it for you.....
Hit thanks if i've helped

4.4 seems to be having lot's of issues with S-On. Do you have a real GPE or are using a custom ROM, if you're using a custom ROM, then it will NOT work with S-On at this time, so better to go back to 4.3.

I do have a real GPE. So what can I do to restore or get back to 4.3? How can I flash a "factory image"?
Thanks
EDIT: I just flashed the stock recovery but there is nothing I can do in it.
shouldn't need to drop to 4.3 if you have a real GPE
flash CWM.
wipe cache
then restore this nandroid i made of stock 4.4 (extract the zip and copy the folder to /data/media/clockworkmod/backup/):
https://mega.co.nz/#!TMlgWLDJ!ZfFlcxcRkebpb3cciULnlTf4GMJfy4grwOLi-Ied3Tg
Then flash this untouched firmware.zip from fastboot:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/am4jx7jbx2niilv/4.4 firmware.zip
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip 4.4 firmware.zip
fastboot flash zip 4.4 firmware.zip
fastboot reboot
that should get you to 100% stock and future OTA should work.

https://mega.co.nz/#!TMlgWLDJ!ZfFlcxcRkebpb3cciULnlTf4GMJfy4grwOLi-Ied3Tg
Then flash this untouched firmware.zip from fastboot:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/am4jx7jbx2niilv/4.4 firmware.zip
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip 4.4 firmware.zip
fastboot flash zip 4.4 firmware.zip
fastboot reboot
that should get you to 100% stock and future OTA should work.

I'm closely following this post because I have the same problem, GPE S-ON, bricked becasue non stock recovery OTA update
I flashed stock recovery but if the phone won't boot up, how can I "(extract the zip and copy the folder to /data/media/clockworkmod/backup/):"???
Can I connect the phone to the PC with CWM and copy the files? or how can I do it if I can't get the phone to boot up?
Hey guys I badly need help!!! I was able to convert my HTC One GSM to Google Edition just last week, but today I want to restore it to its factory ROM so I can also restore the warranty. Now the problem became visible when I tried to flash a stock ROM (not the GPE ROM). Listed below are the problems I am facing at the moment:
1. Stuck in FASTBOOT USB, and cannot boot to ROM.
2. Can't boot to recovery. Everytime I highlight and select recovery the phone just shows up the "Google" logo, then vibrates, then back fastboot USB.
3. Factory Reset not working, again shows up "Google" then restarts to fastboot usb mode.
4. I ran cmd in sdk-tools, typed in "fastboot devices", and my phone is detected. But when I type "adb devices", my phone is not listed.
5. I tried flashing CWM or TWRP through fastboot in cmd but the reply is"remote: signature verify fail", as wellas flashing a RUU for my device.
6. On bootloader is written:
*** TAMPERED ***
*** RELOCKED ***
M7_UK PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.54.0000
RADIO-4A.17.3250.14
OpenDSP-v30.120.3274.0520
OS-2.14.1700.15
eMMC-boot 2048MB
Guys I really badly need help to fix my phone. I don't wanna spend for repairs or throw it in the garbage. I am very sure there's a way to fix this and get it to work, but I am rookie in android as I've been an iOs user for a couple of years.

RUU Zip will be encrypted..you cant extract files from it
you have to download firmware files seperately...you can find them in android development section
check here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182823
I almost forgot... you should be S-off in order to flash the firmware
and even RUU Flashing requires S-off

hi all
i was tried to flash my M7 from 4.3 to 4.4.2
downloaded the OTA update 4.19.401.7
contained :
DATA
META-INF
PATCH
System
Firmware.zip
Fotaboot

the wrong step is : extracted the Firmware.zip file only
and flashed it only by :
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
now the phone is bricked, only boot to the HTC logo and black screen
when i try to press power bottom, the (Back & Home) led blinking
i was boot to bootloader and copy this information to you :
***LOCKED***

OS-4.19.401.9 (it was 3.62.401.1)
eMMC-boot 2048MB
Feb 7 2014,01:06:01.0
i was try to rename the OTA file to Firmware.zip and flash it again, but always failed
i was try to flash downgrade Firmware (3.62.401.1) also failed
i was try to flash RUU.exe (1.28.401.7) from the Fastboot screen and from the rebootRUU screen also failed
i was try to wipe and re-flash the same Firmware.zip file, it's flashed with no failed steps, but still bricked and no system to boot into
can you help me ?
My suggestion:
You are acting nervous, don´t know, from where you got the solutions you´ve tried. Your phone is not bricked if you have access to your bootloader as you wrote but yo can´t flash the needed things with a locked bootloader. Would be better to ask before every step, if you don´t know what to do.
1st you can send your device to HTC for repair...i think you have to pay for that
or 2nd (read and think about the warranty):
Unlock your bootloader via HTC.Dev. http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter
With locked bootloader it won´t run. If you have access to your bootloader, you are able to flash a recovery via Fastboot-USB and have access to adb. With S-On you can´t run the RUU you´ve tried, because you can´t downgrade your phone. S-Off would be the solution, but at the moment you can´t get it with your high HBoot version.
I think, the correct firmware is ready on your phone and you should
- unlock your bootloader with your Unlock_code.bin from HTC.Dev, flash it via Fastboot-USB fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin, accept the message on your phone, then
- flash TWRP 2.6.3.3 m7 recovery via fastboot, fastboot erase cache then fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
- sideload Maximus Rom or ARHD 52.0 via adb in recovery adb sideload HTC_One_-_MaximusHD_32.0.0.zip (if other rom, you have to replace the correct filename of the zip)
- or sideload the stock odexed rom 4.19.401.9 from the same download area at ARHD for the One
- check the MD5 sum before sideload! http://www.flashplayerpro.com/MD5Checksum/downloadMD5Checksum.htm
(even saw, the links of ARHD are down at the moment - the server problems of mike 1986 are not gone. Try it tomorrow or read the last sites of the thread to find alternative links),
- wipe data, system, dalvik cache and cache in recovery (not sd card)
- install the rom.zip via recovery, reboot into bootloader and
- flash the boot.img copied out of the rom via fastboot. fastboot erase cache then fastboot flash boot boot.img then fastboot erase cache
Then your device hopefully will boot again.
If the steps of flashing roms with TWRP are after reading this not really known, read the FAQ before.
If you are able to go to bootloader then give it a try. Unlock bootloader then try to flash firmware.

OP, didn't we agree that you were going to wait??
I'm not entirely sure if stock recovery will read an OTG cable + stick, but worth a try:
if you haven't unlocked yet, get yourself an OTG cable + stick, put the OTA.ZIP (yes all of it, not just firmware), on the stick. connect it to your phone, and reboot into stock recovery, then press POWER + VOLUP (and hope it sees the otg), and use the "apply from sdcard" option to install the OTA.

you dont need s-off, however, if you want s-off it would be advised whilst your on a low HBOOT before you update, but thats a different story.
your re-locked, so do you know if it has a custom recovery on it, or a custom rom, or is it 100% stock, to be sure, unlock your bootloader, because if it is running anything custom, it wont boot with a re-locked bootloader, unlock here:
http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader
just follow the instructions and report back when done, it will give you some adb and fastboot files, keep those, you'll need them and will also teach you how to use them if you dont know. :good:

READ THE WHOLE POST BEFORE TRYING ANY OF THIS AS IVE ADDED A BIT TO THE BOTTOM
what you need to do is flash TWRP 2.8.5.0 from here: http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/m7/openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-m7.img
Code:
fastboot flash recovery (name of recovery).img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
enter recovery and create a simple backup, just something like the boot, then plug your phone into the computer, whilst its still in recovery mode, that recovery supports MTP so your internal storage should open up on your computer, if it doesnt, you have a driver problem, but if it does, then navigate to TWRP/Backup/Phone serial number/todays date and some other details, delete the backup files out of there and place the files inside this zip in there instead, files only not folders: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23622183712459333
unplug your phone and restore that backup.
once restored, restart your phone and just do a basic setup.
then put this on your internal storage and again boot into recovery mode and flash it: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23622183712459512
once finished, do a full restart of the phone, your now nearly full stock, one last step, your need to flash the firmware which is here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95747613655045066 once downloaded just name it to firmware for ease and put it in the same folder as adb and fastboot on your computer, reboot your phone to the bootloader and lock the bootloader (required to flash firmware as you are s-on), issue these commands.
Code:
fastboot oem lock
fastboot reboot-bootloader[I] (should now say relocked at the top)[/I]
fastboot oem rebootRUU[I] (screen turn black with silver HTC logo)[/I]
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip [I](failed is normal the first time, it will say please flush again) soooooo[/I]
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
[I]as long as it says successful at the end this time your good to go, if not, report back here before the next command, if all is ok then:[/I]
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot reboot
when you restart your phone will be full stock and you should now be able to update, recommended as your firmware is quite old, however, I would recommend before updating that you try and get s-off, for this you will need to use rumrunner s-off tool, you can find it here plus the instructions: http://rumrunner.us/ (you might want to try this after: "once restored, restart your phone and just do a basic setup." before flashing the firmware and preload data part)

to clear those errors, in TWRP recovery select wipe - format data, this will wipe the entire phone, then reboot back into recovery.
The internal storage popping up on your computer only works when you are booted into recovery (main recovery screen only) and only with TWRP recovery 2.8.5.0 or 2.8.4.0.

The internal storage popping up on your computer only works when you are booted into recovery (main recovery screen only) and only with TWRP recovery 2.8.5.0 or 2.8.4.0.

Are you using twrp 2.8.5.0 now ?
once you have restored the backup, boot up your phone, do a basic setup, plug your phone into the computer and copy the preload zip file to your internal storage, reboot back to recovery, select install, select the preload zip from the list and swipe to install.

If you get s-off, it wil be way way easier to fix, no need to go through all that stuff again, just change cid, mid and run and RUU.
