I updated my to 4.4.4 via Sony PC Companion and then rooted it with easyrootool and installed the dualrecovery. Everything seemed fine but after the first reboot i noticed that the there is no cellular connectivity. Wifi and Bluetooth work and the sim is recognized but the the phone says'inavlid card'. The phone sim unlocked. Not only that but my phone doesn't want to take pictures anymore. The camera doesn't focus and when I press the camera button it does nothing. Also when I connect the phone to the computer and try to copy somthing the windows explorer doesn't respond either way. I tried to repair the software via Pc Companion but it gave me the same result. To be clear the bootloader is locked and there was no sim lock but when i enter the service info i get this. Please anyone that can help ?
You tried with different SIM card?
Or just try to reinsert SIM card.
Try to go to recovery and wipe cache (both cache)
If that doesn't help, flash ftf again and test everything before you root device.

If it's still not working - I would flash last good ftf (be sure that one worked before)
Test everything...
If everything is working, flash 4.4.4 ftf but exclude baseband files....
Then check is it O.K...
And yeah...full wipe is something you should do now...
You have to get rid of old files...

Who knows...
Something in flashing process screwed firmware...
I'm sure everything will be OK after new flashing...
Signal could be problem again, that's why I suggested - flash ftf without baseband files. -
So...
Flash older ftf (the one that was working before)
Test to be sure everything is working fine.
Flash new fw without baseband files.
Test it...
I'm using Generic DE or my country fw.
That's something you should do, Singapore, China or similar fw could be problem in EU or US...

Sure....
If you have your carrier / country ftf, flash that first to test and to have right baseband/modem/radio files..

I can't that specific one for my carier. It's Austrian A1
Try to downgrade to older rom, if then everything works fine then you may try upgrading again.
Sent from Xperia Z1, or maybe not anymore
So i tried to flash the FTF file with flashtool but i get an error
ERROR - Processing of system.sin finished with errors.
INFO - Ending flash session
I don't know what that means but the process is still running. Should I disconnect the phone or leave it?
EDIT: I tried it again with a different cable and it worked..now I have to see if it worked
@funky0308
I'm on firmware .757 now and the camera is working again and I can copy things from an to the phone but the problem with the signal is still there. It says that the simcard is invalid, but like i said the phone was sim unlocked
Try the simcard in another phone or try another sim card in your phone so that you can eliminate the chance of having a defective simcard

Hello
I'm new here and I don't know what can I do to fix my phone, please help!
I have a Z1 C6903 from HK and suddenly during a phone call my phone lost signal and now it can't connect to my carrier network.
I tried a factory reset, upgrading with SUS and flashing original HK ftf but still have the issue.
I also tried flashing different ftf files (.290 , .257 , .534(NUT) , .531 , .681 and .757), sometimes I lost my IMEI but I figured out how to recover it, however, I recovered my IMEI but I still have no signal at all.
Could it be physical damage on my phone?
I hope I can fix it with software.
Any ideas?
I don't know what else can I do
Thank you!
you tried many ways, but did you try another sim card, lol?

Lol, yes I tried another sim card and it doesn't work, I also tried my sim card in other phones and works as a charm!
I noticed that this happened to other people and they fix it with SUS or flashing other ftf, I guess I'm not that lucky
Thanks!
After downgrade via flashtool did you try OTA update? Sometimes it's lose imei when flash older firmware, but after OTA update imei will restore. Hope it can help

Did You try to manually flash each ROM following the release versions, from the oldest to the newest without skipping any build number (else You won't get signal and IMEI)?

That's not needed and the OP says he does have IMEI so that's not the problem anyway

I flashed stock ftf, I'm not flashing a custom ROM.
Do you mean to flash .518, then 5.34 then .257 then .290 and so on to .757?
Thank!
Yes, I do have IMEI but I don't have signal, it's weird!
I had this problem with my old galaxy note 2
The radio chip most likely broken.
Contact sony for warranty if any left!
Sent from my C6906 using XDA Free mobile app
When I insert my sim it shows my a message that says "SIM card could not be read".
Could the problem be the sim card reader ??
Thanks!

Hi, I don't think is the radio chip, because I can see my carrier signal using the app Network Signal Info.
And it seems thta is not SIM locked, no X on the left. I don't know what can be the issue
Sorry to dig up this, but have you figured that out?
Were you to get signal again????
If so, what did you do?
hey did you figure it out? i am having the same problem! though it occured after flashing a custom rom. i noticed lost imei but then i recoverd it. now i have tried almost every ftf and even SUS. imei appears but shows no sim card inserted
Hello,
I've a weird problem with my Xperia SP. Today i wanted to get back to rom based on stock rom to get miracast feature.
I downloaded newest existenz rom and williams kernel for stock based roms. Installation went fine system booted ok and everything worked fine. After some time phone turned off and didn't wanted to start. Only flashmode worked. I've decided to download stock .205 CE1 rom and flash it.
It booted up, sim card was recognized(had to write PIN). After that network was not found. Signal with red "X". I've tried to manually register to network but i could not.
Next thing is that after flashing stock rom fastboot mode stopped working. Service menu shows that Bootloader can not be unlocked even that it was unlocked before and flashtool(BLU option) shows that it is still unlocked. Flashtool also shows Bootloader: NOT_ROOTABLE.
I have actually no idea what have happend. Now i'm installing stock rom using Sony PC Companion but i think this wont help for network problem.
My main network is PLUS GSM(Poland network).
Could sim card die? It is old type card (almost 10 years) and i had to cut it manually to fit micro sim for the phone.

Use flashtool to flash stock firmware by ftf file. Here:

Use an older one and if that does not work, try one or two more. Hopefully, that will help. Best of luck!

Does it matter which country is it for? I can try some of them but i think that won't help. I've checked other sim card and it was recognized but didn't even ask me for pin. Weird Oo.
If nothing helps i will just flash stock firmware with SEUS and let sony service take care of it, hopefully. Phone still has guarantee.

Regions perhaps. But the thing that does not make sense it that that why did it work before and not now? It should work. Anyway, my SIM was mini too. I, too, had to cut it. It works. Or possibly contact your service provider maybe something is wrong with the SIM. They might have have locked it or something?

If none sim card works on phone then it is IMEI problem or phone itself somehow. I'm trying to flash other roms now. Hopefully it will help if not then sending to service.

I've reflashed stock rom using SEUS and sended phone to sony service. Hopefully they can help. Be careful with Williams Kernel for stock roms. This may be a common bug.
For anyone who had the same problem. Sony exchanged my whole phone with information that mainboard was broken. They said that phone could not be fixed.
Good luck
PS. Topic can be closed i think.

then it must be a hardware problem the best thing you can do is get your phone at a sony verified repair store [another thing you could possibly do is a factory reset but it is not recommended since it will delete your phone's data]
my xperia z1 suddenly have no signal.
i already tried my sim to other phone, it works perfecting and have a full bar of signal.
i also tried other sim network to my z1, but it also indicates no signal.
i tried to repair it using pc companion, but the problem is still the same.
i also tried hard/factory reset my z1, still same problem.
i can access the sim option and function, but still no signal.
i also try using simcard reader app, it can read my sim card and i can view my simcard information.
so i think my phone simcard reader is functional.
I need your help to solve my problem on my only phone. thank you:crying::crying::crying:

@lonesome10
I tampered once with the radios and selected USA bands, and had no signal but clean reflashing a rom brought it back to life.
You said though, you already tried repairing it through PC Companion so I don't know if you can solve the problem.
If you have flashtool, try flashing an ftf from here and see if that helps, otherwise I can't think of anything else.

i want to downgrade my phone of software.. is that possible? sorry i am new on flashing an android phone..
@lonesome10
Yes it is possible. You wrote you managed to flash an ftf from xperifirm, which means you downloaded the files, and used to flashtool to create an ftf. Correct?
Now go to xperia z1 general section and in there, there is a thread containing stock ftfs.
Download one (preferably a kitkat 14.4.a.0.108), and flat it through flashtool again. Do not check anything in flashtool, that means wipe everything and do a clean flash.
See how that goes.
@yngwie_m,
Yes I manage to flash it by downloading a firmware from xperifirm then create a FTF using flashtool and I flash my phone.
If I download a firmware (preferably a kitkat 14.4.a.0.108), do I have to use flashtool to create a FTF file then flash my phone? or I don't have to create a FTF file and directly flash my phone with the firmware I downloaded using flashtool. I am from the Philippines, is there a firmware that is made for PH user? What is generic/unbranded or branded FW? what is rom and kernel?
Sorry again for the inconvenience, I don't have experience with flashing using different firmware.. again thank you for your effort to solve my phone problem. I appreciate it so much!!!
@lonesome10
On the 3rd page of Xperia Z1 General subforum, there is a thread called "[FTF] C6902 & C6903 & C6906 & C6943 FTF Mega Collection".
On the first post it has all stock uprooted ftfs.
So find which variant you have (C6902, C6903, C6906, etc) and download the corresponding ftf. Any Generic or Global ftf will do.
You will be downloading an .ftf file so no need to create it. Just flash it through flashtool.
Don't worry about roms and kernels. You have to make the phone work again for starters.
Branded is an ftf that contains stuff from a brand, like Vodafone or o2 or whatever.
Unbranded is a clean ftf as given from Sony to carriers.
So to sum up, for starters go to that thread and get an ftf to flash through flashtool.
To check your variant, see the phone package or in dialer press *#*#7378423#*#* and in Service Menu go to Service info -> Model info to see which one you have and download appropriate ftf.
I updated my xperia z1(c6906) to 5.1.1 using flashtool. i am from bahrain and the ftf file was US generic. after update my phone shows Invalid sim message. I tried installing older firmwares but still no use. Rest everything works fine.
what should i do?
I had installed c6903 ftf file so does it effect the phone?
