[Q] Sony Xperia Z is stuck in 2G-EDGE - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone! I'd like to know if any of you know why my Sony Xperia Z C6603 does not detect or does not want to connect to 4G LTE or networks above 2G-EDGE technology. It detects my home network as 2G but the rest it detects them as 4G or 3G, but because of my SIM card I can't switch to any of them of course :/ I've already flashed my phone with no positive outcome... The problem still persists. What can I possibly do?
Thank you all so much in advance for your help! Let me know if anything from my phone (like IMEI or other stuff) is needed to help fix this issue ^^

Well I did try another SIM, but from my same carrier. I tested that Sunday when I took my phone to my carrier's offices to check if the problem was theirs. They put my SIM card in another phone and it worked on the other phone, while they put a test SIM card on my phone and it didn't work :/

I'll be attempting a bootloader unlock and a complete flash using Sony's EMMA with my phone and see if that solves the issue... I'd greatly appreciate any help I can get, I really don't know what else I can do.

Bootloader unlock is not necessary to flash stock firmware.
Just download firmware ftf file and flash it using flashtool

And you have correct network mode enabled in mobile networks settings? Do you have a correct version of phone for your operater network?

Network mode is LTE yes, and even so, my phone should be able to connect to at least HSPA but it doesn't go through that even :/

Ok... Just flashed with EMMA. Nothing, it's still the same. I did try another SIM card that didn't have LTE capability from another carrier and it did connect through HSPA+ and 3G, but with my SIM card it detects my home network as 2G, it should be letting me connect through HSPA like with my last Sony Ericsson phone, but nothing :/

[Q] Diamond Can't Connect to Network!

Hi Guys!
This is my problem:
I have a htc diamond and I sim unlocked it a few months ago. Now i don't know why, i can't use any sim cards from different carriers.
If i use a Sim card of the original carrier, it works just fine. If i use a different card, it doesn't connect to network, and on the notification bar a number "1" appears!
I've tried re-unlocking the device several times, i even aquired an unlock code because it looked like the phone was sim locked again, but no use..it just doesn't connect to any network besides the original one!
Can anyone help me please?!
Thank you!

I got a Si9000, it says it is unlocked.
When putting in sim card I got data network not available error.
Installed S1_Odin_20100512.pit
In PDA option I put in code_i9000XXJVS_CL565837_REV03_USER_LOW_SHIP.tar
For phone option I put in modem_i9000XXJVS_REV_00_CL1059471.tar
For CSC option I put in GT-i9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJVS.tar
After I was told to type in *2767*3855# to reset phone.
Phone has been updated to 2.3.5, but now getting not able to connect to network error. It says mobile network unavailable. Any Ideas?
Thanks
have you checked that you have the correct settings for the network you want to use and also check that you have a valid IMEI number

Yes, the phone is shows the network, but when you try to select it, it says unable to connect.
I just checked there, and the IMEI number is valid
The files are in the right place, so nothing wrong there. Is wifi working?

Yep, but wifi is the only thing thats working. No data or mobile network, no GPRS either
Which network are you with and what settings do you have in APN ?
Would recommend ...flashing Rom and Re-Rooting*
I am wondering if it's just something in the connection settings. When I went to Japan last year I had to fiddle with something in the settings before I could pick up signals. It was in mobile networks. I think you can select cdma or something like that.

Im with Go Conquer in Ireland, actually brought the phone to a shop to be unlocked, as it was Vodafone, but they said it already was unlocked. They have their settings up on their website so I have entered them.
I'm going to try putting it back to its original settings again, and rooting it again, do you think that might be it? Ill also try the cdma settings.
Thanks to you both
Follow my Guide below to flash Rom and then Root it
Why did you go to a shop to unlocked it ...theres apps on here free??
Did you manage to get it right again? I'm having the same issue as you do. I did a factory reset with cwm and now when I enter the sim card it doesnt connect to network or 3g. Wifi does work. I am on original rom 2.3.5 and I dont know what to do. I tried a other sim and that didnt work either. Please advice. Thank you.

Are you sure to have flashed ROM with proper CSC bandwidth for the region where you live?
Hi,
Thank you all for replying! For some unknown reason the phone works. I left it a day off and then I powered it up again and it worked. So I dont know how but thank you guys for replying!

AFAIK, 2012 xperia devices don't use/have NVRAM for the IMEI. Could you post a link showing where you got the information that the T uses NvRAM?

No Signal problem

So, my Xperia Z has "no signal" error when i put my micro SIM card into its slot. Interesting is that when i turn the phone on it asks for a PIN, when i put the correct PIN in and confirm it has no signal at all... in the menu also appear "O2 Sim" apk after few seconds and my phone can even import contacts from SIM  ... well i am out of ideas.
Things i have tried:
Reinstall Android 4.4 via PC Companion
Downgrade to 4.3 via Flashtool
Downgrade to 4.2.2 via Flashtool
Reboot many times
Took SIM in and out many times + tried SIM in my second phone (XS) it worked normally...
I also tried SIM from different provider - same problem
Changed GSM to WCDMA only, ... (all options)
Add AP point
Find provider Auto/Manually - no service found
Checked if my phone is showing it's IMEI - yes it is
Checked if my phone isn't locked - no its unlocked
My phone is now BT locked, running Android 4.4 (10.5.A.0.230) non-rooted, at first i was thinking its a HW problem but well could it be if it recognizes the SIM card?
Last thing i am thinking about is to change my SIM to USIM, but i am not sure if it will help...
*Edit* I forgot to say everything execpt Network service (calls, sms, data) is working fine. *Edit*
*Edit2* After searching all over the google it seems like i am not alone... i have the same issue like this user https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdJ0DREwdEM " *Edit2*

Not working, check the video i posted before, phone can't find any service provider and i am not able to switch to manual... its reallly strange, i am trying to find some fix or something for about 4 hours + searching google, xda, youtube, ... and what i found? A lot of people with the same issue but no fix ...
After another X hours of looking for issue i found the reason - Antenna Board is probably faulty, i have found the same issue at some iPhone forum when the user had no signal (same as me) and fixed it by changing this little board located at the bottom of phone. But anyway if you know it won't help let me know I will post a reply when new AB will arrive and if change helped.

you flashed different builds also
Can be a hardware issue, suggest you to go to a service center

Does not mean that the antenna is broken, can be a loose contact also
You are getting the pin prompt because the sim reader is working properly
it is unable to register to network because of antenna issue, better you show it at a mobile shop than doing self diagnosis

Have you check your APN settings?
Replaced your SIM card? (It might work on other phones but not on yours either to not sitting properly or something else. So try replacing it.)
Take your sim card out and try this.
Do a factory reset and flash firmware with CSC file (not home-CSC file, backup first. )
Let phone boot without sim card first.

You're not going to get CDMA to work on the F version of the phone as far as I know you can only use GSM that's why nothing that's being suggested is working. You need to get a GSM carrier sim card.
Edit: Samsung Galaxy Note 8 SM-N950F/DS Dual-SIM 64GB (GSM Only, No*CDMA) Factory Unlocked 4G/LTE Smartphone International Version. ... This phone*WILL*NOT*WORK*with any*CDMA*Networks such as VERIZON, SPRINT, US CELLULAR.

Your device is SM-N950F/DS.
You are in india.
The phone can't connect to 4g/Lte after the security update. 2G and wifi is ok.
Before the update 4g/lte is fine.
You tried your simcard on other phones is able to connect to 4g/lte.
Is this correct?
May i ask how did you update to the latest firmware? ota, odin or smart switch?
