To completely clear the memory used unnecessarily, you can perform a hard reset.

Store to Device or Internal Storage?

I never know where to store my applications. Do I store to the internal storage or the Device? Does it depends on the type of application?
Thanks,
Jon
read the readme file first. I thought I would use the internal storage, installed a program now the damned thing wont uninstall. went to the main web page and read there that it should have been device...
Hmm, I tend to install everything to the storage... But then, I only install stuff I want to keep.
http://www.memlocker.com/?page=memlocker
Its this program that will not remove itself just so that others can aware of it...
I would advise to install application like system tweaks (ie, Mobile shells, anything that modifies the OS to the main storage and any other application like games, word, etc to the internall storage.

i second that! that's the smart way to do it!
May I ask why you suggest mobile shells etc to the main storage? Is that because it is a little faster than on the Internal Storage?

Low memory and email Problem

Recently my phone has displayed a task bar notification of low memory...and after clicking it, it takes me to the remove programs menu...
since this occured my emails wont sync. The settings are emails should automatically sync, however it isn't working...
any ideas?
Do you have root? Have you partitioned your SD card? What ROM are you running?
If you're not rooted, move any cache you can to your sd card and remove some apps.....or root and move everything to your sd card!

It is not actually low on memory, it is low on STORAGE SPACE.
In other words, you DISK IS FULL.
The reason it won't sync is that it needs to use some storage space to store the data that it syncs.
You need to delete some junk and then it will work again.
Also note: That menu isn't just for deleting programs. It can also be used to clear program data, for example, scroll down and click on "Browser" -- it will give you the option to delete some stuff (cache, etc.).
hey, im root.. on the newest CM, I have already got apps on sd...the low memory display appeared after putting on a 50mb file...since then, I have deleted around 200mb, but the memory notification wont leave.
any help?
You need to delete it from the place that is full... INTERNAL STORAGE.

More than likely it's being used... I'll try to explain!
The RAM memory is basically where your OS is stored and it uses the RAM to actually run the OS and other various processes of the device. The ROM memory is used to store system applications...apps that cannot be moved to the SD card. (or they wouldn't function correctly) Even the apps that you download and that are on the SD card will still use some of the internal memory. ROM is also being used for and by contacts, text messages, cache and so on. So the discrepancy that your seeing is literally the memory that is locked away for use by the system. Your memory isn't really missing, you just can't see it and it's being used.

tnx for your reply, but my problem is , if that memory is used, why phone says i have 1.08GB free, and if it is not used, why ZUNE tells i have 285MB free ?
and if it takes by some thing like temporary internet files , how can i clear them.
and remember phone says total storage=7.20GB , i think he gets as much as he need from 8GB
which one is true ? 1.08GB or 285MB ?

I'm not sure...I'd say that your device would be the most accurate of the two. I have the 32gb SD card in mine and have 29gb available storage.
Do you have alot of music, video, pics and SMS on your device? You might want to think about upgrading your SD card to a 16gb or 32gb. I just upgraded mine from the 16gb to a 32gb and its running faster than it ever has. Boots super quick and loads apps and really fast too.
Other than going into IE setting and deleting the history, cookies and temp files and deleting some text messages, I don't think there's a cache cleaner that you can get for it as of yet on a non-unlocked device!
Download this app, System View and it will tell you, available storage status and a lot more. I think it will give you a better idea of what the used/free memory availability is and you can compare it with what you already have.

in first post i forgot to say system view also shows 1GB but some times ago ZUNE tells mine phone have 0MB free and didnt do SYNC ! i forced to uninstall some program and try again !
i have around 100~200MB picture and music , and all other is programm.
changing memory or factory reset or ... takes so many time for me to install all again !
also i think i paid enough mony for WINPHONE

I understand the enough money invested, Lol... If your device and System View both say you have 1GB of memory left, then I'd say that's more accurate than Zune but your device still needs that reserved space to operate everything. As far as freeing up space, even though you don't have very much memory used with pics, video and music, you could up load them to SkyDrive and free it up from the actual memory on the device but 200MG isn't much. Unfortunately I don't think that there is much of a option other than deleting some of your apps or upgrading the SD card at this point to gain any substantial amount of memory.
Change the amount of reserved space to 1% in Zune. The phone doesn't subtract the reserved spec, only Zune does.

wp8.1 system partition filling up?

lately i've noticed that my "system" keeps growing in size as seen through storage sense. it's a slow, but steady, growth.. after a factory reset i believe it was around 2.60gb, and now it's grown to 3.04gb. i've heard elsewhere that anything above 3.0gb is "abnormal" -- what would cause this to grow like that? is this normal, and is there any way to clean it up? i have 8.1 GDR2 with full fs access.
It's normal for windows phone though... It does grow a bit as time being. You know, in Windows 10 Mobile my system partition grows up to 4gb, which eats up all my left space. After a clean up, I only have 1.4gb left internal storage. I guess only a reset will solve the problem.
Applications Data , Uncompleted Store and Phone Update Downloads and unknown files you have stored on your phone (like mkv , xap , appx , appxbundle , mpg and any other file types it's unknown for the system ) may increase system and Other storage size . you can use storage cleaner app by GoodDayToDie to clean up a bit but maybe not too much helpful .

Real System partition can't grow. The only increasing thing on it is registry. So, those are system files on user partition. It can be even IE cache.
would you have a link? can't find it in the store..

Apps to SDCard or SDCard as internal storage

How do I move apps from internal storage to sdcard?
I can find no option like that on the apps information. I installed an app that moves them but that just opens the app informations where there is no button to change the storage medium.
Also I read it might be possible to format the sdcard as internal storage. Maybe that's needed prior to moving apps.
But I can't find a way to format as such too.
The only thing I was able so far was to set the storage to sdcard for the nokia camera app.

I guess android one devices don't have the feature to have SD card as adoptable storage.
Sent from my Nokia 7 plus using Tapatalk
that would be quiet disappointing and does not make much sense either as there still is the option to force being able to move apps to sd.
at least partly this is a bug though or maybe a feature?
I installed the sd-card just recently after I setup the device and most apps.
seems if I clear cache and data of an app at least that will now be stored to sd.
some apps like google maps or nokia camera app allow to choose data location.

There is an option in developer options. Force allow apps on external
I hsve same problem. Got 32gb, fast samsung card. I can't move any apps to it, but copying files work, also cam.
I think option in developent settings is here because of anrdoid one, same as bootloader unlock, won't do nothing.
Can other ppl move apps to sdcard on n7+? Or does this only happens on Samsung card?
I got a replacement device and a new 256GB Samsug card. I'm not offered to format as internal storage as well. There is the option to force apps to sd but it won't work.
I guess there might really be no way to use the card other than media/data storage. And hope apps allow to choose data storage like some google apps and the camera app do.
Got this info at nokia's community forum:
Moving apps to SD is not supported on the 7, as it does not support adopted internal storage. It would perform badly regardless of the SD card used, as the built in storage is significantly faster. Use the SD only for data, as intended; there should be plenty of internal space for apps with larger data stored on SD.
So.. I think ill go root way, something's so much better on rooted device. I like command my own device my way, not google's way..
