Galaxy s5 active teardown - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

I need to gain access to the micro usb port on the Active. There are many videos on tearing down the s5 but I can't seem to find any info on the active. Does anyone have any information on the tear down sequence for the Active, or any links? Thanks.

What a strange site. Apparently you have to contact them for information on becoming a client and if you they bless you with this privilege you can then purchase the teardown.

check out the s4 active teardown then see what has changed on the S5 Active and compare. usually its fairly similar and not that much different. Just remember to take your time and dont rush or force anything.

s5 active teardown
Theres only one screw visible. The lcd/digitizer has hella adhesive. Not just around the edges like the S5.Youll more than likely have to replace the screen with any repair on this one and very few screens available so far.

Active Teardown
To repeat, does anyone have any resources for tearing down the S5 Active? There are a number of differences between the S4 active and the standard S5 and you can't just "start taking screws out," as there is only one screw on the back. The LCD/digitizer is one unit and will need to be removed together, but what about the rest of the components? It's not clear how to access the control board. Repeat, does anyone know of any resources for a complete tear down?

I'm working on getting a hold of an S5 active with a broken screen... if I do I'll try to video the teardown and post it.

That'd be great! I think it would be useful to a lot of people. If you're successful, post the link. Good Luck!

here you go
This is as far as I'm going. Heat the edge pry and place wedges. I needed to replace the lcd and digitizer so zero f ' s were given. The lcd has adhesive behind it so I am fairly certain you will break something. Sorry.

heres the link your looking for
Heres the link you needed a while back, dont know if you still do but someone else may need it in the future:

Please help me keep track of replacement parts for this phone. So far I have found:
LCD + Digitizer
OEM Battery Samsung
OEM Battery from eTrade(cheaper)
2A OEM Charger
Rear Housing Sapphire
Rear Housing Grey
Back Camera Module
Flex cable with SIM holder and wireless charging pins
Flex cable with charging port and mic
How to take it apart
Do this at your own risk, remember that you have 1 year warranty, you should first try getting samsung or AT&T to replace.
Would be great if a replacement back was available. I contacted Samsung and they said one is not available and do not have an ETA when it will be.

Even though it's not directly from Samsung, this battery is from the same website as the LCD + Digitizer and it only costs $15. It might be worth posting.

Only one way to find out
If you can get a replacement housing and a s4 camera sensor and then mod them together... I would use some type of sealant and put it around the edge of the sensor and take a drop of water and see if it gets past the housing. Of course do this before putting your system board in the housing... Just as a test. Not sure if it is worth it to you but if we could successfully mod the S4 camera on the active and keep water proof I think most active users will do it. It appears that samsung thought about using the 13 mp sensor but changed their minds because of supply demands.
If I had some extra money I would give it a shot. But my wife would get mad for me tossing out around 30-50 bucks for just a chance of a working mod. any unmarried people out there willing to try?

Nexus 5 and sticky notes

Hey all, just a neat little thing I noticed yesterday: sticky notes (the paper kind) don't stick to the screen of the Nexus 5. I used to sometimes put notes on my phone when I had to remember something later and I tried to do it with my new Nexus 5 and it just fell right off. Cool!

Why are you using "analogic" sticky notes on XXI century?
Just tried. It stuck, but not very well. Probably has something to do with the oleophobic coating, which will likely rub off at some point.

Nothing wrong with using sticky notes. I have a ton of notes on my iPhone before I switched and always forgot about them.
Just tested, they stick on mine just fine. I suspect it to be a hardware issue, you might want to RMA.

A visual icon displayed on screen should work well also. No glue to deal with either. I can't imagine many physical sticky notes fitting on an iphone.

He can use a number pad to text message and stretch out the antenna whenever he gets a phone call while he's at it too.
Some people would be better off served with dumb phones. No point making threads about it however.

The thread was more of telling us sticky notes don't really stick on the phone.
I don't know how you can say some people are better off served with a "dumb phone", since I haven't seen a "dumb" phone since I think the end of 2008. Maybe you can say "some people don't take advantage of all the features a smart phone comes with", then I'd agree.

White screen replacement on black model?

Has anyone gotten a white screen replacement on their black model? I need a new screen because one part of my screen is unresponsive and I'm out of warranty. I'm planning on buying a new phone later (hopefully nexus 6) but for now I've decided id like to fix my g2 and keep it for a while longer now that I saw its getting lollipop.
So I was wondering does the white screen fit same as black? I'm kinda bored of. The black and since I need a new screen I thought I might as well get a white one. Please only respond if your 100% sure because I don't want to buy it and take apart my phone only to find it doesn't fit the same (which I don't see why it shouldn't but just v want to make sure)
After I may also order a new back cover in white since they're only like 10-20 dollars and just remodel my whole phone
The back cover I have now is adjudged and scratched so I might as well.
Thanks!

That's what I was thinking too but just wanted to make sure because the materials are slightly different. I'll just send an email over to lg and see if they can give me any useful info.
And does anyone know a good video to follow for replacing a screen? I've never done it with a g2 and it looks pretty complicated when I looked one up. Is there no way to do it without removing the whole mother board and buttons and everything? The guy looked like he was ripping things off so I'm worried about following that video. If anyone knows a reliable one please link it thanks

I repair phones for a living.
Swapping the colors will not matter, they all fit the same.
Order the assembly (glass and LCD) part by your G2's model number, as the ribbon cable connectors are different sizes varied by model numbers.

Great thanks. And do you have any advice? I used to work at a cell phone store but only for a year and the only phone I've fixed was an iPhone because they're relatively easy to do and there lots of guides. For g2 I found only one video for vs980 and it seems really complicated. Should I just take it to someone. who does this for a living? I wanted to do that in the first place but they v wanted to charge me 175 dollars. to fix when I can get a brand new screen for as low as 50-75 dollars so I think the extra 100 is a bit much considering a g2 can easily be bought for 200-300 dollars

The video link I posted should help.
Basically they are all the same internally except for different cable connector sizes. All the repair steps are the same.
Watch the video and if it looks like something you don't feel confident doing, I'd definitely recommend taking it somewhere to get repaired.
My shop does take mail-in repairs and we charge $100 flat for G2 screen repairs. Let that be an option too if you feel you must have it repaired. Of course waiting on shipping and all that sucks but you'd likely save a chunk.
But yeah, definitely have someone repair it IF you don't feel confident... you don't want to mess it up beyond repair.

Thanks for the offer but I don't think I'll be able to do a mail in since currently this is the only phone I have. If I don't feel confident about it I might just buy a screen and then take it into the old store I worked at. Totally know what you mean.
It's really not a bad repair. If you decide to do it, just follow directions and take your time on it. In my opinion, the hardest part of repairing a G2 is getting the plastic back off. Lol.
Good luck with it.

Overheating, horrible camera issues.

Hello there.
Just got my N4 yesterday. Started off loving it. Customized it fully. Got everything on it the way I like it. Then started playing with it. Love the new Spen features.
Now the bad. I have had to shut it off, and pull battery multiple times because of overheating, I do not ever, ever have screen brightness on full.
Now on to the camera. This is by far the worst camera I have came across on a device. My N2 was way better. Has anyone had trouble returning their device?

I just checked out a video and it seems like this front original sticker is the exact same sticker used for the galaxy note 3 but they replaced the 3 with a 4 for this one. Its fake! There is a video of a guy unboxing a known galaxy note 4 clone and it has this exact same sticker.

If you look closely, the ambient light and proximity sensors are a bit under the front speaker, while an original note has its sensors a bit over it. So it's a replica.
