Hello everybody !
To begin with, I'm sorry for my bad english, I'm french.

I tried the app towelroot but it not works : my phone stops running.
If somebody can explain me or can let me a link toward a tuto, it should be great !
Thanks a lot.

Hi
This is my step/procedure to ROOT and repair your firmware. I hope it will help you. I COMPILE IT FOR EASY UNDERSTANDING. DO AT YOU OWN RISK. I ASSUME YOUR DEVICE IS C5303
There is several way how to repair your firmware
Way 1
Go to setting>Backup and reset>Factory data reset [Internal data loss will happen]
Way 2
Dial *#*#7378423#*#*. Go to customization setting. You can factory default or reset. [Internal data loss will happen]
Way 3
1. Use flashtool and here the link to download the latest http://www.flashtool.net/download.php
2. Download firmware https://mega.co.nz/#!8AJhGDIS!YSYbbEg_-4HXo7w9Na5ttRBQOp5F_prt07UEaiZRxHU This is Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean 12.0.A.2.254_CE or you can get latest firmware at
3. Install flash tool (don’t change file/folder destination) and it driver (go to c>flashtool>drivers) tick all to be safe. For windows 8 go here ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2095087 ) to install driver.
4. Place download firmware in the firmware folder (go to c > flashtool > firmwares)
5. After you get all the flash tool and firmware. Now you are ready to install firmware. Open flashtool according to your pc (x32 or x64).
6. Click the thunder icon.
7. Tick flashmode.
8. Choose the firmware you download.
9. Click flash. Remember all the menu on the right you must not disturb unless you are advanced user.
10. Turn off the phone. Connect usb to the pc. Hold the volume down without let it go. Connect the other side of the usb to the phone while holding the volume down button. Then let it go after you see some progress in the flash tool.
11. Now your phone is back to default.
Let root your phone
Go to this link to root http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2405933. This only for 12.0.A.2.245 / 254 firmware.
Go to this link to install latest recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2649923 . These recovery is needed to install any custom locked bootloader rom.
Now you have root phone. If you want to install custom rom please go to these link http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-sp/development and http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-sp/orig-development
PLEASE REMEMBER DO NOT FLASH UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER ROM AND ITS KERNAL SINCE YOUR PHONE STILL NOT UNLOCKED.

Rooting .195

Hi guys,
Many of you will be tired of this, but to save bricking my phone, I want to run this past someone first, please.
I'm on UK Branded Orange .195 and wanted root.
-I've downloaded UK Generic 7.0.A.1.303.
-Flashtool is installed.
-Run Flashtool and select the firmware.
-That'll then put my phone back on 7.0.A.1.303? So you can backward flash firmwares without any issues? This won't brick my phone?
-Reboot phone, at this stage it should load and be usable without any other input?
-Then root using BiNary's method.
-Install CWM for locked bootloaders.
Do I then flash a .195 firmware?
Thanks guys, I know it's a pain but just being cautious.
Hmm, when n flash mode, I'm just getting = "For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode"
Yes you can downgrade the firmware this way without any consequence.
Start the phone up (not connected) and turn on usb debugging under settings > developer options.
Turn the phone off, load the. 303 in FlashTool and wait for it to tell you to connect the phone. Plug in the usb while pressing vol-.
After the flash you will have fully functioning. 303 generic firmware.
Root and install CWM. Download the firmware of your choice in CWM flashable zip format. Turn the phone off and on again, and when you see the Sony logo press up repeatedly till it vibrates. You will now go to CWM recovery. Choose factory reset and from the advanced menu clear dalvik cache. Now choose install zip from sd card and navigate to where you put the downloaded firmware and install.
Repeat these steps to reinstall CWM and the reboot fix (you should also put these on your internal storage before flashing). After flash reboot and you will be greeted by your newly installed firmware. Let it fully boot.
Now turn the phone off again and flash the kernel corresponding to your firmware to prevent problems.
I can't make it any clearer than this. All this information is available from the all in one thread in the q&a section and in the threads of the individual firmwares.
Hope it helps.

Worked like a dream. Thanks very much.
I assume this won't prevent me from installing future firmware updates as all it seems here is i'm flashing a .195 rom over a .303 firmware...

Always god to hear. What firmware did you install?
Future releases you can flash the same way you did the .195, just download the zip of your choice and go to CWM.
Hi mate,
Just used [STOCK][ROOTED][7.0.A.3.195][Thats it][29/11/12]
Have thanked you for your post. I'm wondering whether this is a little less smooth, perhaps the 'placebo' affect.
Could I flash your .223 on here, locked and rooted? Where the changes ever worked out for that firmware?

Root Guide For 4.2.2

All credit goes to @zhuhang. I have no contribution to it.
Original thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45344021
This method will help you gain root access on the latest .67 4.2.2 update that Sony recently pushed out.
Disclaimer:
- This requires a PC.
- No CWM needed.
- This installs a Chinese root manager rather than superuser or superSU. But I will teach you how to replace it below.
Instruction:
1. Download the rooting application. (This app can root many other devices )
VRoot_1.6.0.3690
http://www.mediafire.com/download/v3...3690_Setup.exe
2. Install the app. This is a Chinese app so I will guide you. Below is a step by step screenshot attached guide.
3. Start VROOT and root now!
4. Now we need to install SuperSU from play store to replace the Chinese root manager called 授权管理 1.0.4.
5. Go to play store and install SuperSU.
6. Start SuperSU and you will be asked for permission by 授权管理 1.0.4, choose 允许(means allow). (Should be the right side option.)
7. SuperSU will prompt to install SU binary, go ahead with OK and it will display successful.
8. Now, freeze 授权管理 1.0.4 in titanium backup, just in case you need it again.
Note: If you uninstall straight away from app manager, you need to make sure SuperSU updated the binary.
9. Re-run SuperSU to make sure everything is alright. You will be prompt again to install SU binary, just do what it asked.
10. After that, you are rooted with SuperSU and 授权管理 1.0.4 will not be there anymore.

Can someone upload an ftf with just the kernel.sin and bootloader.sin for the C5503? I tried creating one using C5502 kernel and i got stuck in a boot loop. luckily my battery was just at about 10% and so I quickly flashed back the 4.2.2 Kernel of the 5503 and all is well.
Once we get the kernel only ftf, can test and create guide for rooting 5503 on 4.2.2

Tried with the C5503 kernel. Same boot loop. I think we'll have to find an alternate root method, as unlike the Z, the ZR doesnt have .234 firmware [that is also 4.2]
Experimenting with the Z firmware. Wish me luck
Why not flash only kernel from the previous firmware? Isn't working?
UPD. I see - not work

I have rooted mine already (ie. Android 4.2.2). You have to unlock your bootloader for this method to work.

Firstly you need to unlock your bootloader. Google that, its easy. OR you can do it through flashtools (not tested).
Enable USB Debugging and unknown sources option on your phone before proceeding.
Download Flashtool, Open it. Flash the the kernel of an old firmware of Xperia ZR which was rootable.
Reboot your Xperia ZR after flashing. Connect to PC in USB Debugging mode.
Do not forget to close FLASHTOOL.
Extract the downloaded “DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit.zip” file and run the “runme_win” file.
Follow onscreen instructions to root Xperia ZR and once it is rooted, device will reboot. Verify that you are rooted, run SuperSU app.
Now switch off your Xperia ZR. OPEN FLASHTOOL.
Now you need to flash the true kernel of Android 4.2.2 10.3.1.A.0.244 firmware of Xperia ZR.
After flashing, disconnect the phone from PC, reboot it and your Xperia ZR is now rooted

So basically you're doing:
Use FlashTool to flash the 4.2.2 FTF
Downgrade the kernel by using FlashTool back to 4.1.2
Run the DoomLord rooting kit
Flash back 4.2.2 kernel using FlashTool
To flash the kernel you need an unlocked bootloader. What I don't understand is how to flash the kernel only? I found the kernel.sin inside the FTF file. Can I just delete other .sin file and flash the remaining FTF file?
Sorry if my questions are noob.

You need to keep the kernel.sin and bootloader.sin in the ftf and delete the rest. Also don't delete the META-INF file.

The problem is the bootloader? I thought doom's thread said that this was for locked and unlocked bootloader. Unlocking the bootloader will lead to a lot of people avoiding the root method.

So is an unlocked bootloader NEEDED for this method to work for ZR? I thought DoomLord said it works for both.

Edit. I recommend not trying to root using this method. Wait till theres a definitive rooting method.

Yes. I fixed the bootloop issue. Need any help with the bootloop?
If you've got a bootloop, pull the battery asap as once it dies, you won't be able to flash ftf and the device will be bricked.
To fix bootloop [and still not get root access]
1. Open the 4.2.2 ftf file in flashtool.
2. Exclude everything [tick in the exclude box] except the kernel, and untick everything in the wipe box [data, applog]
3. Flash the kernel by pressing the volume down button while plugging in USB cable [DONT PRESS POWER BUTTON AFTER BATTERY PULL AS OTHERWISE YOU'LL GO BACK INTO BOOTLOOP]
4. After it flashes [should take a couple of seconds], reboot and you should be back to normal
I REPEAT PULL THE BATTERY IF IN A BOOTLOOP OR YOU'LL LAND UP WITH ANOTHER PAPERWEIGHT

So again you're not successful in rooting 4.2.2 using the kernel switching method?
i think the kernel switching fix will not work on ZR.. we don't have a rootable 4.2 kernel
i think the 423 kernel is 4.2

It happened to me also, but it's possible to recover from it.
Install PC Companion on your PC.
Go to Support Zone.
First option -> Update phone / tablet software.
You will see a underlined link that says "repair phone / tablet"
Just follow the instructions.
You will need your phone to have at least 50% battery level. Take out the battery, insert again, and connect your phone to your PC via USB while pressing the Volume + button. You will hear a sound coming from your PC meaning it's been connected.
Sony PC Companion then will flash your phone with the latest firmware. It takes a while and you need to have internet connection, but it works.
As you flashed the Russian system rom, the firmware installed in your phone by Sony PC companion will be the Russian Android 4.2.2. No problem with this as it includes all the languages.
Do this as soon as possible as you need your battery charged and you can't charge the battery in your phone while in the bootloop state.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not sure what we did wrong to be stuck in a bootloop, but after my ZR being reflashed by Sony PC Companion I just flashed the Nordic 4.2.2 ROM and my phone remains unrooted until there is a easier method to get root

[Q] Upgrading Xperia T with Flashtool. Some questions.

Hi guys as we can see Sony after ages relased 4.3 for Xperia T. I want to update this phone by myself ASAP, my brand will release it maybe in 2051 nevermind. I've got some questions.
1. Do I need to unlock bootloader if I want to update it to Stock 4.3 Android (I mean Android 4.3 from Vodafone-Germany) ?
2. My phone custom number is 1266-2257 while the phones from Vodafone-Germany 1266-0537 is it imporant and it makes me unpossible to update?
3. (Below) Is this proper way to update phone by flashtool? [If not please give me step-by-step tutorial that will not brick my phone]
1.how to install the newest Android 4.1.2 for Sony XPERIA T LT30p
a) first of all, check your firmware version (if you already have the newest one, you do not need this tutorial)
b) download and install latest Flashtool from here (mirror)
c) download also latest Android 4.1.2 (mirror) for Sony XPERIA T LT30p
d) paste the ftf file downloaded in step c) to folder „Firmware“ included in the XPERIA Flashtool
e) open the XPERIA Flashtool, click on flash and choose downloaded firmware, than click ok. Important - if you do not want to delete any data of your phone, just uncheck flashing userdata.sin file. All data will remain in your phone, but sometimes it can cause additional troubles. So it is better (and I recommend that) to do the backup of your personal data, than proceed with clean instalation and then restore your personal data.
f) turn off your phone and when Flashtool shows pop up window, connect phone to PC with holding volume down button
g) after few minutes all is done and your phone gets the new firmware

Root & Unlock Bootloader for Xperia TX Latest Version

Hi. I wasn't able to understand the process of doing this to Sony devices cause I'm not used to all these sub-branches of steps for slightly different variations and software versions, lol, I understand this is a lot of n00bness for you guys.
I have a stock, legal Xperia TX, software version 9.2.A.1.199 and I want to get it to the point where I can flash custom ROMs. What do I do with it? Sorry for asking, I appreciate any help. :]

You can most likely only flash custom ROMs (that come with a custom kernel) if you have an unlocked bootloader; so first find out if you can unlock it.

Before unlocking your bootloader, I'd backup my TA partition which backs up your DRM keys. If you don't do that, you'll lose them forever (AFAIK), which means no more Bravia Engine. Look for "Backup-TA-9.10" in XDA and/or Google. You need root to do this, which means you'd have to go back to 4.1.2, because there are no methods currently available for rooting 4.3 without an unlocked bootloader.
Once you do that, or if you don't care, and you do upgrade back up to 4.3, flash this kernel, which comes with two recoveries, and then flash any custom ROM you want.
Although, if you do go back to 4.1.2 in order to backup your TA partition, then you can easily root 4.1.2, install CWM, and flash your custom ROM from there, no need to go back up to 4.3.
u can use this.. im also using tx
Hello!!! Aha...so you have troubles? and you need help? OK

Hi bro, got a question on this part. I also would like to explore for custom ROM but loss at this part. FYI currently my Xperia Tx running on 4.3 jellybean with 9.2.A.1.215 kernel.
Basically what should i do to proceed with the installation of CM? I have rooted and unlock boatloader, but failed to enter to recovery mode. Pls advise bro.
Thanks,

XPERIA Z1 14.3.A.0.757 fw

Hi, wondering if anyone can please help me.
course of events:
1) original FW rooted with bin4ry.v32
2) 14.2.A.0.290 rooted with NUT's method
3) 14.3.A.0.757 updated and rooted also with NUT's method; tried to do Advance Wipe in TWRP (with everything except for Ext. SD) but had 'failed' error so ended up with just a 'general' data wipe, went OK. Then flashed the 14.3.A.0.757 FW ok (from Ext. SD). Using flashtool to flash the stripped 14.3.A.0.757.ftf, went OK. booted up the phone with .757 no problem, however noticed that freshly installed apps were some how already configured and setup even though I have not set anything yet. I figured maybe it loaded up the data from .290 hence, the data wipe may not be done properly.
4) 14.3.A.0.757 again to see if the issue with the apps will rectify, however, still getting 'failed' error with TWRP Advance Wipe. I ended up 'format' data and tried TWRP advance wipe......again, 'failed' error! Tried to deselect USB-OTG, surprisingly Advance wipe was 'successful'. Then flashed with 14.3.A.0.757 flashable.zip again, this time it flashed pretty fast. so I proceed with flashtool, went well. rebooted and got stuck at Sony Logo. COULD NOT get back into TWRP to reflash.....ended up having to reflash 14.3.A.0.757 using Sony's Update Service app (SUS). Everything is ok, phone is working fine. However, I cannot go into recovery mode to flash with TWRP to root anymore. I noticed that when I press power, it vibrates once......Sony Logo.....Xperia logo and wipe screen. It doesn't vibrate twice anymore when the Sony logo comes up.
any suggestions?
Thank you and sorry for the long thread. Just want to be as precise as I can.

Try again doing these steps.
1. Reflash stock rom.
2. Downgrade by flashing 14.1.G [ NUT ] (android 4.2.2)
4. Use bin4ry's Root and restore. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
5. Flash NUT's dual recoveries. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261606
6. Download 14.3.A.0.757flashable and stripped FTF.: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711982
7. Put 757flashable.zip on your SD card or internal memory.
8. Disconnect USB from phone.
9. Through Windows, put the FTF in flashtool's firmware folder
10.Reboot phone to TWRP's recovery (on the green LED press volume down)
11. Through Recovery flash the 757 zip.
12. Don't reboot, go to the menu, click power options, select power off.
13. Insert USB to phone while holding volume down.
14. Flash the FTF file.
15. Celebrate.
There's probably a shorter way to do this, but this is what I did and my phone works fine. If you want to deodex visit this link: https://mega.co.nz/#!WgwRDQDa!UlO0Vx3FEHODmB8dUgmf_24cHpQ-6O6_zf5zhGpfktI. Wipe dalvik-cache after flashing the deodex file.

I am not sure certain steps....
1) how do I reflash stock firmware, which firmware? Also how, using flashtool? Sony Update service software?
2) How do I downgrade, also using flashtool?
4) when you said 'restore' after root with bin4ry's, also with flashtool?
5) Should I delete the old dual recoveries currently on my ext sd?
this is for C6906 or doesn't matter
thanx

1) You re-flash stock firmware by going here https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_d8uWGbkaetRWdmQUZ4WlJ6WVk/edit?pli=1. (Link provided by xperiafirmware.com) That's assuming your model number corresponds to the file. If you have C6902 or other, don't use it. Google it.
2) Yeah you use flashtool. Click the thunderbolt icon, click flashmode, then select 14.1.G. Should say [NUT] under branding.
3)Root and restore is the name of the application provided by bin4ry. You have the option to root your phone along with restoring it back to un-rooted state. That is ran by "RunMe.bat".
4) When you run the .exe, it'll automatically put the recovery files. Make sure your USB debug is turned on and you accept Root access (superuser request).
Again, this could probably be cut to less steps, but this is what I did.

You mean c6906? Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2714351
As for dual recoveries that were on your phone, those will be gone when you flash the stock sony rom. Remove the recoveries off your sd card just in case and add the newer recovery files through the .exe or .bat from NUT.
to confirm before reflashing.....

I want to confirm a few things before I follow your steps. (question in BOLD)
1. Reflash stock rom ------------------using fw from the link above (C6906_14.3.A.0.757_CA Generic.ftf or C6906_14.3.A.0.757_Customized_US_1276-7484_R4C.ftf) with flashtool
2. Downgrade by flashing 14.1.G [ NUT ] (android 4.2.2) -------------- after flashing with the .757 fw in step 1, flash this fw with flashtool; but I only see 14.1.G [NUT] for c6903 does it matter?
4. Use bin4ry's Root and restore. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
5. Flash NUT's dual recoveries. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261606 ---------- as mentioned from your post above (underlined), remove the recoveries off my ext sd before flashing NUT's latest dual recoveries, which is the TWRP folder correct?
6. Download 14.3.A.0.757flashable and stripped FTF.: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711982
7. Put 757flashable.zip on your SD card or internal memory.

14. Flash the FTF file. --------- I assumed the stripped ftf in flashtool
15. Celebrate. ----------- Hopefully, this will be the case
THANK YOU so much for bearing with me!
