did you have an unlocked boot loader? if so you will have to relock and try again and make sure you also have the stock recovery
i've just have my device s-on and installed RUU ROM and downgrade the boot, I will try updating the system again.
a side question : does this mean I can not have my device s-on if i update it? and i can not root it?
hold on ... are you s-on or s-off right now?
i was on s-off when i updated the device.
now i switched to s-on and downloading the update again.
i have a question! when i was rooted I received and OTA for updating to gingerbread 2.3.5 and htc sense 3.0 but since i was rooted i couldn't install them. now that I am unrooted again when i check for the update, it says that there is no update for your phone and I am still on gingerbread 2.3.3 and htc sense 2.1. what should I do?!

[Q] How do I know which stock recovery to flash?

Bell Canada HTC One, want to flash the stock recovery back so that i can get the Sense 6 update. Phone is rooted and unlocked with HTC dev but does not have S-off. been running into issues with hboot 1.56 in that regard and cant get S-off to work. Anyway. From what I gather the OTA update wont work without the stock recovery. How do I know which one to install

Follow nkk71's Guide to Return to Stock! Use it as a guide since you want to remain rooted and are already S-OFF. Please note: if you run a RUU it will revert the custom recovery to stock recovery. After the RUU is run successfully, you can install a custom recovery and then root afterwards. Since, you are S-OFF you want to remain S-OFF.
Sorry my mistake its s-On. Will the guide still work?

Did you flash the nodded firmware without recovery, or with the HTC recovery? If you flashed modified firmware, just go back to your backup. If you flashed the unmodified, you need to RUU. But I don't know if you should flash the old or new RUU. I Don't know if there would be a problem downgrading firmware, hoot, etc. Safest bet is to flash the latest RUU and then try to root again.
Hi,
I moved your post to Q&A.
Please don't post in Development threads asking for help that's why we have a Q&A section.
Thanks,

If you're SOFF you don't need to relock bootloader. My suggestion is flash a custom recovery and backup your internal storage and run the latest RUU.

Assuming that you're on latest Sprint rom then yes. You already flashed unmodified so it doesn't matter at that point.
I'm gonna try to explain what happened to your phone... Because you updated your firmware you have the Lollipop kernel on your phone right know. Thats why your phone can't boot in to the system. Now you have several options and all of them needs you to have a custom recovery.
First: Install latest TWRP and try to flash a 4.4.2 Kernel. You'll probably can boot in to your system now. Copy OTA in your Internal storage and reflash unmodified firmware. After that just go to your stock recovery and install OTA from there.
Second: Since you could boot your system, backup everything you need and download the latest RUU and restore afterwards.
Since you're rooted my sugestion is the RUU method.

If you're S-ON you need to relock bootloader. If not you're good to go.

If you have issues, then that's what I would do. I've had issues with an RUU running unless I already had the latest firmware first. Here's a guide I wrote (mainly for s-off users) that should help. http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...de-reset-phone-using-ruu-htcfastboot-t2876110
