[Q] Root for i9000: Help please? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there,
I have a Galaxy S i9000 with 2.3.3.
I have no idea how to root my device. I've been looking at the tutorials and pinned threads for a long time but didn't understand a thing.
I want to flash a stock ROM or CyanogenMod, because my performance now is terrible.
Can somebody please help me or give me a clear tutorial?
Thanks!

Thank you very much!
I used the second guide, and except for a little problem I had with the kernel choice (SpeedMod didn't work so I used CF-Root), and now I have CM 10.2 running perfectly. Thanks!

Yes i have P1000. I was using 2.3.3 as stock, I rooted and flashed in overcome (you can refer to the forum for the steps, it's easy actually) then after using it for some time I tried the AOPK its working well for me except the standard camera (need to use an app...it is stated in the thread)
To get Overcome, go to this link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317384 There is also a link to the overcome page where you can have step by step ways of flashing your device.
Please, who can help me... what's the better rom??
What do you really want? He gave you the link to the step by step.
Go to Overcome thread. flash Overcome using their guide step by step.
from there you can flash CM9 or AOKP and see which one is better.

Ok, sorry but I'm new at this...
Well I've installed the AOKP rom but now the photo camera and the google apps doesn't work...
Please, who can help me...
If you read the AOKP thread you should know that back camera doesnt work with native app. You need 3rd party apps.
For google apps, have you downloaded and flash gapps ?

I am not on ICS yet.

Then try take a photo and look at the result.
If good then you found a good apps.

[Q] Where to start?

Hello XDA,
I have a SGS I9000. I want to root it and I've been searching all day for a guide that isn't a one click root.
But I have a few questions about what everyone is talking about when they say JP2, JP3, etc.
Also, I'm running Froyo 2.2 and there doesn't seem to be much for it. Could someone please point me in the right direction?
if there is information about the phone that can help find where to go, just ask.
Thanks XDA.

You should 1st flash to 2.3 using odin (https://www.fixmystuff.in/FMS_Forum...i9000-flashing-to-original-rom-using-odin.46/), then root (https://www.fixmystuff.in/FMS_Forum...-i9000-rooting-gt-i9000-2-3-3-india-ddjv9.47/) and then you can proceed installation with ICS (https://www.fixmystuff.in/FMS_Forum...dwich-4-0-4-on-samsung-galaxy-s-gt-i9000.125/) or JB (https://www.fixmystuff.in/FMS_Forum/threads/installing-jelly-bean-4-1-on-galaxy-s-gt-i9000.131/)

[Q] XXAMC1 4.1.2 ROM for I9000

Hello,
I have Galaxy S2 Plus GT-I9105P with stock ROM XXAMC1 4.1.2 JB.
I'm used to this rom, and I want to put the same for my SGS I9000.
The problem is that I can't even find similar for this device. I tested many of the popular ROMs, but i couldn't find the right one.
Basically I want something similar like XXAMC1 for I9000.
I got used to use SIM contacts. I don't want to sync it with google and so on. I just want to use only SIM contacts.
In the Roms that i have been tested this is possible only with additional app, which is not my desire.
Please give me some suggestions.
Thank you.

You can port by zip porting method. Its easy just Google it.
I can't remember the steps at the moment. It works most of the time. I have ported a lot of gti9100g and nexus ROMs by this method.
If my posts helped, don't mind hitting the THANKS button.
