ICS Repack Problems
Hi all,
I managed to flash ICS Repack by Chainfire on my galaxy note today. It is pretty cool and really fast. But I've few questions to ask regarding this new ROM. Please be kind enough to direct me to a appropriate thread if these questions are already been asked and solved.
After I flash ICS Repack, I cannot find CWM anymore. What happened to it ? and how I can get it back ?
How I can go back to my old GB rooted ROM (I've CW backup of that rooted LB2 GB ROM) ?
By now, this ICS version cannot render South Asian languages. but LB2 rendered it very well. Are there any option to get that language support on this ICS ?
I need to change this Keyboard (Chinese) to English. Any other method to change it (Instead of installing GO Keyboard) ?
In our county phone numbers have two formats (our numbers are start with "0" but receiving calls don't have that starting "0" ). But in this ICS ROM, those 2 numbers are Identifying as two different numbers. Any method to fix that issue ?
Can I get my CPU speed to 1.4GHz again ?
Please be kind enough to help me on these matters.
Thank You.
This is why users should study BEFORE they flash. Anyways. Flash CWM, boot it, resrore backup. Cant help you much. Just got my Note happy studying

Stick with GB for now...people working with ICS around here like to make you jump through hoops just to get your phone to work...so if you're not will to spend the time on it, then stick with GB...no fuss, no muss.
The answer to 3. is a very simple 'yes, you can always go back'.
Also, massive thanks for updating your OP with the answers you have found. If only all question-askers did this.
Hi,
I am new here and have just purchase Samsung Galaxy S i9000. I want to install ClockworkMod Recovery for flash ROMs. Please guide me with procedure. sorry for bad english. Thnanks.
Oh dear.
Don't post in the development sub-forum!
First piece of advice, read. read around, different posts, different messages, different google results, not only will you gain advice and information that can help you/save your ass in the future, you won't do rookie things like post in the dev forum.
And google anything you don't understand first. You're question is 99.9% of the time not original and already out there with several productive answers
But i'll cut you some slack.
Firstly, we need to know your current firmware. Go to Settings, and then about phone. look for your android version. and you're firmware. if you're unsure, take a picture of the about phone section and upload it here and we'll help you.
And could a dev shift this to the right place please

If youve got Gingerbread, then look for a custom kernel WHICH IS GINGERBREAD BASED NOT ICS OR JELLYBEAN BASED. Then using download a program called Odin. And put the Kernel in the PDA section of the program, if you dont know how to do this then there should be videos telling you how to do so on Youtube. Its the same flashing procedure for all the Galaxy S series of phones, if you type in "Galaxy s3 flash kernel" or something similar it should give you a general idea of how to do it. And remember to just read everthing they tell you to do for each kernel. Go through step by step and it should be easy. If something happens though cant be held responsible. gota be said, lol. A thanks would be appreciated if i helped

don`t help him, dammit.
let him learn to post in the right section first.
Give the guy a break we were all new once! First thing you should do is Google Odin software and learn how to use that. Second make sure any ROM you flash is made for sgs i9000. Lastly go to www.darkyrom.com and check out the section there on the i9000, the user totally dubbed has excellent video tutorials that can walk you through it all. If you have any questions or get into trouble pm me and I'll help you out too.

Hi everyone, I have not been on here for a long time.
been getting bored with my phone lately and decided to come on here and see whats new.
So.... I'm still not rooted and noticed alot of people which are rooted are now using jellybean.
Is it worth me rooting so that i can get the jellybean or just stay on 4.0.4 and wait for it to be released?
Im based in london, UK if that info is needed.
if it's worth the root, any chance someone on here could guide me in the right direction to rooting my galaxy note and then the right direction in getting the jellybean.
the main reason i want to root now, is that im bored with my phone's setup.
I want to have a complete change, different home page, different call setup ect ect.
So... any help would be really appreciated. :good:

CM10 is not stable enough yet (most JB ROMs have memory leaks and you have to restart your phone nearly every day), so if you need a reliable phone, ie. for work, study, etc, I'd suggest staying on ICS.
Also remember that all these JB ROMs are based on Cyanogenmod and not on Touchwiz, so if you need the Samsung apps (FM Radio, S Note) you will have to look for alternatives.
Other than that, the JB ROMs I tried have been really nice in my experience, Google Now and the offline voice recognition make the other issues really easy to forgive.
Root in general is worth it for a number of reasons, among them CF 3D, Google Now on ICS, etc. etc.
With Google Now available on ICS there is no real reason to jump the gun to JB imo
Check my signature....jellycore worth a try....

+1. If you want to jump ship to JB roms, just be prepared to reflash updated roms once a week (minimum).
Else, stick with ICS roms, and wait until all JB issues been sorted out by the community.

Thanks guys for your input,
I know this is going to sound really cheeky but is there anyone on here that would guide me step by step on getting rooted. I can add you on skype or msn if its easier.
I know there are links ect ect but last time I tried to follow them I messed up my htc phone.
And someone ended up adding me on skype to guide me through it.
I basically want someone who is kind enough to guide me step by step to get my note rooted and then I'll decide afterwards which rom I want to use.
If your happy to help, send me a PM please.
Nobody willing to add me on skype and help me through it? :crying:
jelly bean rocks and rooting is worth to try
Official JB for siii started rolling out in poland today. So by next month most of the siii will get tue update. So i think in november we note users ae expected to get the hands on JB. You can wait till then.

I'd still rather get rooted.
so.... Is there still nobody thats willing to add me on skype and guide me through it?
I'm not stupid, so you wont need to worry about me asking question after question, i'll simply do whatever you tell me to do.
just need links sent to me to whatever it is i need to download ect ect.
first of all bud, you don't need any kind of online tutorials thru skype... tell you what you need to do.. simple tidbits that might get you going to flash your desired JB onto your device...
1.) Search for the most appropriate JB ROM that you like (scan to all the respective JB threads on our beloved Note's forum to choose which one you like best and fits your style).
2.) Once you have the idea on what JB ROM you would like to flash... here's the tricky part... type this on one of your browser's tab.... www.youtube.com.... in the search area field... type 'How to flash 'NAME OF YOUR JB ROM' to galaxy note... I'm sure there are video tutorials made appropriately for the JB ROM of your choice...
Good luck bud... again, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand and know the art of flashing.... it just takes one INITIATIVE and the rest, a bit of luck, a bit of prayer and bit of fate.
You can do it, I know you can!

Hi mate, did you get your rooting issue sorted? If not, the best one I found (and then used!) was Max at rootgalaxynote.com. Open the webpage and there is a tab at the top for Galaxy Note Root. He even puts a video "walk through" on. You can do it without using a PC, merely downloading 3 or 4 zip files then flashing as per his tutorial. It takes minutes and honestly, it really couldn't be simpler.
Good luck, please feel free to message me.

Thanks so much for that link, I had a look through it, and it seems straight forward, the fact i dont even need to use my computer is amazing.
BUT... what is the difference between this root and the other 1 which everyone else has done, using odin?
also, if i use this way, is it easy to install different roms?
Can anyone confirm if I can do this easy root method and then install a rom of my choice? Or is it not as easy as that?
I can definitely manage to follow the steps in the video, just wondered what i'll need to do next to get a rom.
Nobody?

Rooting and flashing ROMs aren't hard. I don't know how you've gotten root, if you havent, then first flash cfroot kernel according to your firmware, once you're rooted, flash a safe kernel first e.g, Hydracore, speedmod, through CMW and from those kernels you can flash ROM of your choice through the recovery.

If you aren't rooted, I can try to help if you're willing. Firstly what firmware are you on?

Hello,
Seen this being brought up a lot but i have the galaxy note which was on ICS standard before, I then did the update to JB through Kies or via the software update button and after a while realised it was slow and that everyone was having the same problem. I then found everyone said to do a clean install and a hard reset and just start fresh which I have done. After a couple of weeks now its is still running slow and laggy and just painfully annoying, can be there for a bout 5 seconds sometimes longer waiting for apps or things to open.
Any ideas on what I can do?
And like I said its all standard haven't put a custom rom or anything on there as I don't know how to do any of it but is it worth learning how to do it and doing it?
Thanks

want to try custom roms? Check allmost all of them here:

also the steps are mentioned on 1st post of all the roms. Be on safe kernel before formatting or flashing.
Yup, your experience pretty much sums up the JB update for the note - c**p. However there are a few things you can do, first install a ROM with an XXLT4 base or higher, after that then uninstall as many apps as possible that you won't use and that you can live without. It will be a bit better but still, not as fast and smooth as ICS.
Revert back to ICS! Flash the ics stock via ODIN. Download from sammobile.com

I think I would like to yes but every time I have tried I cant do it and get confused lol.
As I said my phone is completely standard not been flashed or anything so would need a whole step by step guide to do it on and would then need the ROM or OS whatever its called to install. I have a galaxy ace to test it on. I think the thing that was scaring me was that my phone is still under warranty so wouldn't want to ruin that but then I might try it anyway??
Cheers

Yes totally, if you have a look at the touchwiz based ROMs you have the inherent samsung features with new customisations. Some other custom ROMs like CM based give you a native Android experience. Try them out!

Firstly root your phone. The guide for rooting is there in dr.Ketan's thread. I'd have posted the link but I'm currently on my mobile device and it's tedious. Just look in the Android development forum and the thread for how to root will be right there. Next after you root and flash a CWM recovery (you'll find the kernel with such a recovery by Phil and it'll be there in the same forum that teaches you to root). After this, you can flash a ROM (yes it's similar to operating system!). Try ROMs like the PAC which are feature packed and stable. Please follow all the instructions to the letter. And do not forget to hit the thanks button

I want to flash a stock ROM or CyanogenMod, because my performance now is terrible.
Can somebody please help me or give me a clear tutorial?
