S5 Messaging (Just not receiving some NOT ONLY IPHONE) FIX - Galaxy S 5 General

Well to all you out there with a Verizon Galaxy S5 I hope you haven't been stuck with this issue. If you have well I might be able to help.
I have been searching for 4 days straight trying to find anything that might help....EVERYTHING I found was useless.
Description of problem:
I would have a conversation with someone and then all the sudden about 5 or so messages in I would not get a response. After thinking that the person or persons did not want to talk anymore I came to the conclusion later that the one I was messaging said I was the one who didn't respond. I did see on their phone that they replied. YET I DIDNT GET IT. This has gone on with people for 2 weeks in my case. THIS IS NOT TALKING ABOUT THE IPHONE MESSAGING PROBLEM.
This I tried but a NO-GO:
1. Factory Reset.
2. Rooting/Putting Custom Recovery On
3. Using the Recovery to Wipe Cache/Fix Permissions
4. Accidentally Bricked My S5......Used Odin to ReFlash 4.4.2 Stock.
5. Started from the ground up. Back to out of the store condition. NO WARRENTY VOID
6. Went to the store I got it from (Cellular Sales Authorized Verizon Retailer)....They knew less than I did. (Hire me PLZ)
IN THE END:
Nothing made sense....Everything had been tampered with and no change what-so-ever.....It has to be Communication from the towers to the phone.
Here is the FIX that so far has worked. Only been a couple hours of testing:
I called VZW Tech Support. First Tier didn't know. Transferred up the ladder....Second Tier did some testing and told me this....He needed to reset the connection the towers had with the SIM Card. To let him do that and then turn my phone off, take the SIM Card out and leave it out for 2 Min. When he did, I was able to text 3 of the people that I was able to message...but had a few not received, and they all went through. Only way to truly know is at the end of the day after more messages.
So don't go crazy and try everything like I did. See if the Tech Support can reconnect the SIM Card for you. :good: :highfive:

data drop, at&t

Funny thing happened on Friday 10am (14:00utc time), International note, stock 4.04 with the hardcore speedmod k3-15 kernal
I had used my phone for email, couple phone calls, checking a few websites then all of a sudden, I noticed a fail to send an email,
then I couldn't get any websites to respond. Tried everything I knew of to fix it.
When connected to wi-fi, everything web related worked, just not on the HSPA+, 3G, or 2G radio. Phone, texting worked without
any issues. Pulled battery, Sim, SD card, let it search for networks...nothing worked.
Stopped by an at&t store....first thing the drone said was "it's not an at&t phone"....told him it worked perfectly for the 11 months
I've had it. He popped the back cover, pulled the sim, said "here's your problem, this is an old outdated sim card (old blue one with
the orange 3g logo), he installed a new one (which I knew wouldn't fix it) and it still didn't solve it. He looked at my account and said
the IMEI numbers on the account didn't match the phone, so he changed it on the account. Still no good.
He called and had them "re-provision" the phone...still no good. He gave up, told me to call 611.
Well, after telling the surprisingly pleasant dude on the phone yes I know it isn't an at&t phone, yes it is unlocked, yes I got it
off Amazon...he tried a few things & gave up. He said someone would call me later after he checked to see if there were any
issues with Android & their system today.
I turned the data off on the phone, since it was trying to connect all the time, running my battery down and just did without data
the rest of the day. Around quitting time for work, I turned the data back on and now everything is running normally.
Ok, now that I've gone through all of that....any guess as to what happened to cause it to work one minute, then just stop data,
then work hours later?
I had heard that the carriers were banding together, to stop stolen phones from working, and wondered if maybe since my phone
isn't a "carrier phone", and, since my IMEI number on their system was still set for the old Dell Streak, perhaps my phone got
caught up in their blocking pool of numbers?

Trying to replace Nokia 822

Hey guys. So I've been having serious issues with my Verizon lumia side I've had it about 3 months. Constant issues with mms.. incoming pictures never come through. Freezes and reboots often. Phone keeps corrupting sd cards. Every time on boot up, it gives an error message staying to fix the sd card.
Gone through ton of tech support and nothing. Just went to Verizon store and they basically said there's nothing they can do because the phone has known issues. They also stated that because we were using a Samsung sd card instead of a 'verizon' one, that that is the issue with the phone. Obviously just taking to a saleswoman who has no real tech knowledge.
So I'm looking to call Verizon direct and replace the phone, and wondering if others here have done this and what I can expect. Personally I'm used to dealing with AT&T and know that they'll give in to what I need if you're persistent enough.. I've never really felt with Verizon before.
Just looking for advice and suggestions to get this phone replaced or a replacement model.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Actually no, my 822 has been working fine with the exception of that annoying black screen that flashes when I'm trying to make a phone call. If you got the insurance you should be able to take it back to Verizon and get a new one. If you happen to go to the store and they are clue less you might have to call Verizon directly at one of their 1-800 numbers, have tech support trouble shoot it and determine the next steps.
They usually go through a list of troubleshooting steps and ask you a few questions like the last 4 digits of your SS, address and so on so they can verify our account.
At work when a phone goes crazy like that, Verizon usually sends a replacement, granted that you have insurance on the phone. Once they send you the new phone they will send you a return label and you have to ship the old one back before 5 days or something like that or they will charge you for not returning it.

sim card errors, self service pops, etc. Phone, sim, or sprint problem?

I just got an HTC one a few days ago off ebay. I love it so far but I am having some issues. Running OMJ's sprint one rom. Flashed multiple times with full wipes, etc.
I keep getting invalid sim messages, sprint self service keeps opening randomly (even when in pocket, which then leaves phone unlocked and i start pocket calling)
It's starting to drive me nuts. Anyone else had these issues? Is my phone possibly not activated correctly? Lady i dealt with on phone activating seemed like a rookie... Is my sim card bad? 4g works at times, calls work, everything seems ok..
This happened to me on Stock non rooted after I activated my replacement.
Just contact sprint via chat ( I did LITERALLY 5 mins ago). It's caused by a Sprint error while inputting your UICC or something.
The chat guy just gave me a service update and a profile update, and voila! I'm getting my 4G back, all 1.25 Mbps of it!
I realize that you do get 4G sometimes, but would NEVER get it. Other than that, our problems are the same.

sprint chat, gave me slowest agent in world. took 25 mins for them to tell me to remove the sim and put it back in. Finally, they said my sim wasn't paired to my phone and I had to go to a store to fix.
So today, I go to store, wait around forever. I am told my sim is active on another account (uhh? no.. ) and the only way to fix is a new sim. Ok cool, give me a new sim and lets do this!
They dont have sim cards.... Corporate store, no sims. No way to order them, no way to get them, nothing. The only "solution" they have and I can't even do that. Driving me effing nuts. On phone again now trying to figure something out.

going on over an hour on the phone. Transferred from customer support, to tech support, to SALES, back to tech support, now waiting for who knows who. About 10 mins away from not having Sprint service anymore

That's some bull. Demand a solution or a free early termination. I would punch somebody if I got service like that.

Sprint Technical Support "do you mean the memory card?" NO idoit. HTC one, one of your flagship phones, does not even have a memory card!!! She also told me to remove the battery, then decided wiping the phone was the way to go. I refused.
The guy at Sprint Corporate store told me to move my sim from old Note 2 into my HTC One to fix it.
Every person I talk to is clueless.
This error has nothing to do with your phone, as far as I know. Actually, you know what? Do another Sprint chat and ask for Corey N. If they ask you why, tell them someone else had the same problem and Corey fixed it a couple days ago.
Yeah, but keep at it. It's nothing to do with your phone. I told Corey that my phone was able to receive a 4G signal before I activated it. That is what triggered him to check the service info. Otherwise, I too was going to have to get a new SIM card. Tell them they have to use your UICC ID to give you a service update.
Good luck man. You'll probably need it.

i became aware it wasnt the phone pretty quick. I spent 30 mins explaining that multiple times only be to told i was being transferred and notes would carry over, then new person wouldnt have any clue what i was calling about. I finally gave up and hung up on phone. Got on chat, and i told the lady how to fix it.
She was having me do reboots and stuff and I just said, listen... Here is my sim card #, can you tell me if that sim is activated on my phone or someone elses. She looked and said it was active on another account. I said ok, THAT is the problem. I told her to either send me a new sim, or get it off the other account and on to mine since it was obviously a mistake. After another 30 mins she got i working finally.

Nexus 6, T-Mobile and MMS problem

This has been a frustrating issue. My wife and I both have Nexus 6 phones. She has the 32gb & I have the 64gb version. Hers recently started not receiving MMS messages. Anything with a large picture would simply never show up. Anything with a very small graphic or group text would show up as "Non-text content". Here are the steps we've taken to solve this:
1. TMO started by insisting it was an APN issue. So she edited her APN. Didn't help.
2. We then swapped SIMs. Hmmmm. My phone then behaved like hers while hers could then send/receive MMS.
3. TMO said ok maybe it's the SIM. They sent us a new one. SAME result. Her phone wouldn't receive MMS.
4. Out of frustration, I factory reset her phone and reset the APN info. Didn't help. (Cleaned up her phone of some trash programs though. :laugh
5. TMO engineering says they still can't find anything on their end. Elevate to tech supervisor. She tells us to go a TMO store (right near us) to try a THIRD SIM. OK, we do. SAME RESULT. We tried swapping SIMs around again and the same thing happens. My SIM in her phone, everything works. Her SIM in mine, I can't receive MMS.
6. TMO store guy suggests MAYBE (but unlikely) that there is something her account has that's stored on the SIM when its activated that causes the phone to freak. Also says it's above his pay grade .
So now we are again waiting on TMO to poke around further on their end. My question for all you smart types here is:
Has anyone ever heard of this issue? Is there anything you know of that could be causing it? I think it's a bad provisioning somewhere in the dark recesses of TMO. The ONLY change we made to our plans (which seems just coincidental) is that we moved from the 2 lines Unlimited for $100 plan to the over-55 Unlimited plan. We did this maybe 3 weeks ago. But the features are all the same on both plans.
We are both on the same Android 7.0 final OTA firmware updates from Google. NBD92G
Would there be ANY chance that a sideload firmware update would make any difference? We're getting desperate here. Any & all suggestions welcome.
I wonder if her SIM is configured for wifi calling. There has been a conflict between wifi calling and mms for awhile. I've seen it reported several times where this T-Mobile forum post helps in that case
Don't use old firmware... I had issues on certain custom ROMs and old firmware where MMS wouldn't work over WiFi. Never as bad as you were getting.
If you wanna stay stock, sideload the latest OTA to go to NGI55D. Anything older than that is vulnerable to Blueborne exploit, which is a HUGE security concern IMO. I can confirm MMS is working correctly (even with WiFi enabled) on bone stock NGI55D as well as custom ROM Dirty Unicorns v11.7.1 which includes September security patch.

I've had this issue on most LOS roms. i ended up making a custom APN i flash when i try a rom built on LOS.
Yeah, it sure sounds like a problem with account partitioning, or something else with the account that gets associated with the SIM on initial use. What if you try the problem SIM in a phone that is not a Nexus 6? I wonder if you could get a new sim and set it up in a different phone, then transfer it to the problem phone?
OK all, finally got a TMO engineer who agreed with my assessment -- that it was a hidden provisioning problem. She nuked my wife's line and recreated it from scratch. Everything works great now. Frustrating that we had to go through about 15 phone calls and over 3 hours of phone time to get it resolved.

SM-N960U vs Sprint OMADM. Flash Open Firmware?

I bought a used Note 9; SM-N960U, off of letgo a couple of days ago. I checked it over like usual with a used phone . The phone made and received calls like normal. The guy told me that the phone was originally Sprint, but he was using it on t-mobile. The phone seemed normal enough.
After I got the phone home and performed a factory reset on it I started getting Sprint OMADM messages at every boot. With my Active Verizon SIM in the phone it makes and receives calls as it should. It has internet and texts as it should... but I get a full screen window at every boot from Sprint OMADM reminding me that Activation was unsuccessful and it all pops back up every 20 minutes or so. There is also another process by the name of Sprint Hub with messages indicating its Processing requests and requests are processing.
After some research I determined I should flash it to the Unlocked firmware thinking that wouldn't have the Sprint nonsense.

Should this correct my problem?

Thank you. I found that and read both pages prior to posting my question but my concern was that those remedies appear to be all temporary and would not survive factory reset, so, should I ever decide to give this phone to my mother or another family member they would be in the same boat as I am now and they are far less tech savvy.
I would prefer a more permanent solution which I thought perhaps I could achieve via a firmware flash. Thank you though for your help.
