Please help with possible bricked gear watch!!!! - Samsung Galaxy Gear

ok my friend ended up rooting his watch, then he wanted to unroot it..he went here and followed this guide to unroot.(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2480429) then he went here and got the firmware btu version(http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-V700) then while flashing with odin he got a error and now on screen of watch says ( firmware upgrade encounter an issue please select recovery mode in kies and try again,is there a way to fix this please..thank you

I'm guessing the watch was on android and rooted, then unrooted. Then the firmware you tried flashing ended with NF1? If so you tried flashing Tizen software onto android. Don't fear if this is what happened. Tizen is a different software then android. In order to go from android to Tizen you have to flash the first Tizen release which ends in NE9. Just download a Tizen firmware ending in NE9 and flash that. Then flash an updated NF1 Tizen release. If you want to stay on android flash an NC1, or NF6. Personally I like Tizen.

ok was able to to put it back to factory and rooted the device, issue i have having now is to install superuser on watch

Firmware update failure

Hello, I purchased a used Galaxy gear and it has already been rooted, I have done a reset to factory settings but it still comes back as being rooted. My phone is rooted also so im ok with the watch being rooted but the only problem is that watch will not update to the latest firmware, it keeps going to firmware failed. How do i update to the latest firmware? Do i need to unroot the phone? and if so whats the best and easiest way to? If i can still update to the latest firmware with it still being rooted, how? Thanks!

The problem can be because of rooting your phone.
You can flash back to your Stock rom, the problem will be solved

Thanks, I actually connected it via PC and used KIES 3 and the update went just fine!! Now I am thinking about rather or not to update to Tizen... suggestions?
Also, after doing the update, it's no longer rooted. I didn't really use it for root purposes though.. I may reroot it late on or update it to Tizen.

Applying Tizen To My Gear 1

I see that you can do it using Samsung Kies, but I need a couple questions answered before I attempt it.
First, my gear is rooted, but I still have the original stuff in it. I never flashed another rom or anything. Also, my Note 3 is still on 4.3.
Will I have to unroot my Gear before going to Tizen? Will it work with my phone even though I'm still using Jellybean?

I'm still on 4.3 and Tizen works absolutely just fine for me!
The trick to getting Tizen is flashing the first release first. Flashing the 2nd release first reports firmware encountered an error. My gear was rooted and all I did was use Odin to flash Tizen right on top of Android.
Flash this file first right on top of your rooted android. NE9

Reboot and make sure it works.
Now flash the latest Tizen release. NF1

[Q] Samsung Galaxy s5 won't update to lollipop

I have a Samsung Galaxy s5 that I have rooted and unrooted in order to get the lollipop update. Everytime I try to update my phone it will go through the process of an update but, after it has restarted it says that the update did not work. I am running on Android 4.4.2 and my phone is through at&t. How do I get the update to go through?
Install Samsung kies on your computer.
Use kies to back up your phone... And verify the backup integrity.
Then perform a full wipe on your phone, and use kies to upgrade firmware to lollipop. After upgrade do another full wipe for good measure.
Now use kies to restore your backup.

Need download for stock 5.0 firmware

Hi Guys, call me stupid but I went and did something without researching it all the way, and now i have a major problem.
So, what I did was mistakenly try to install 4.4.4 on my 5.0 device, thinking I could then root and re-install 5.0. Odin gave me a pass, so I booted up my device only to find It wouldn't fully boot, and would then go to recovery boot. I then noticed the large "Do not attempt if on 5.0 already" warning. So what I think I need is the stock firmware for 5.0 lollipop for SM-G900A devices.
Any help relating to the topic, or someone saying I'm looking for the wrong thing, is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

Downgrade AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 G900A from 5.0 to 4.4.2/4.4.4

Few days ago I bought the Samsung Galaxy S5 G900A unlocked. There was Android 5.0 preinstalled whith baseband vOC4! I tried to make the downgrade to 4.4.2 because of the root, and always gettin the brick. Saw the post about flasjing G900A_OC4_Stock_Partitions and it helped me a lot with unbricking! I tried all the ways of downgrades: recovery ZIP update (including OC4 firmware w/ OA1 bootloader) , ODIN flashing different stock roms, custom roms, kernels etc. Can I make a downgrade with that baseband? I've read somewhere that it's impossible to do in this case...
Really confused now after all this.
No need for confusion. There is no way known to humanity that will allow you to downgrade from 5.0 to anything else.

ODIN back to OC4 to unbrick and remember; if you can't root you, can't do anything but wait for root or buy a different model phone.
ODIN back to OC4?
There is no way at this time to ODIN back to OC4, OA1, or whatever.
There is only a ".exe" file for OC4.

similar situation
Hello guys,
my situation is quite similar to the posters one. i've bought the S5 active (AT&T) with some custom TMS5 rom, when i boot i sie unlocked lock icon.
the version is 5.0: the kies is showing info like: G900FXXU1BOC7/G900AATT3BOC4/G870AUCU1BOC5/G900FXXU1BOC7 (ATT)
the question is can i get somehow to the STOCK firmware? maybe upgrading to the 5.1.1 will get rid of this "custom stuff"?
if so, what's the best way to do it?
I purchased a new G870A Galaxy S5 Active this week, which was preloaded with OC5 (5.0, Lollipop) firmware. I was able to root the device by downgrading to 4.4.2; the guide here was very helpful: http://www.droidviews.com/update-att-galaxy-s5-active-to-lollipop-root-it-and-enable-wifi-tethering/
The exact procedure I used:
1. Flash NE4 firmware with Odin (The latest heimdall from git didn't work; I had to boot Windows 7 and install Odin & Samsung USB drivers)
2. Reboot the phone in recovery (power+volume up+home). Use the options to clear cache & reset to factory default
3. Reboot the phone normally. It might appear bricked & take up to 5 minutes to get past the AT&T logo.
4. Root with Towelroot
5. Follow the instructions on the linked page to install pre-rooted OF3 (Lollipop) firmware and the OC5 bootloader.
6 (important). Kill OTA updates by renaming /etc/security/otacerts.zip & /system/priv-app/wssyncmldm and then rebooting. Delete anything in /data/fota for good measure. (Use your favorite root-enabled file explorer or shell.)
Note that this will not work if the phone has received OTA updates beyond OC5. See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...w-to-update-to-g870aoc5-5-0-keeproot-t3083841
