Applying Tizen To My Gear 1 - Samsung Galaxy Gear

I see that you can do it using Samsung Kies, but I need a couple questions answered before I attempt it.
First, my gear is rooted, but I still have the original stuff in it. I never flashed another rom or anything. Also, my Note 3 is still on 4.3.
Will I have to unroot my Gear before going to Tizen? Will it work with my phone even though I'm still using Jellybean?
Sent from where the wind begins....

I'm still on 4.3 and Tizen works absolutely just fine for me!
The trick to getting Tizen is flashing the first release first. Flashing the 2nd release first reports firmware encountered an error. My gear was rooted and all I did was use Odin to flash Tizen right on top of Android.
Flash this file first right on top of your rooted android. NE9

Reboot and make sure it works.
Now flash the latest Tizen release. NF1

Uninstalled Kies - how to update?

Hello, Gentlemen.
I bought a Note in early November and, being a fresh immigrant to the land of Android from Maemo, the first thing I did was install Titanium backup and clean out all of the Samsung bloatware. Stupidly, I uninstalled Kies in this way, and so have never been able to perform an OTA update. The updates download and apparently install, then the device restarts and tells me that the update has failed.
I hadn't bothered fixing it before now as the updates have been minor, but I want to get this fixed in time for the ICS release
How, then, will I reset my Note to factory condition and start anew? Is this even necessary?
if i'm not mistakes, once you phone is rooted you wont be able to update via kies.
happened to me on my Galaxy Tab 10.1, i'm unable to update from HC3.1 to HC3.2.
Just use custom rom instead.
Welcome to Android Mate, You've made the right choice.
Yeah, You can go back to Ground Zero Stock, Untouched. But That is not really necessary. All Stock ROMS get leaked or released anyway. But If you insist, You may Read the Guide here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997

You'll get ICS here at XDA at least a month before Samsung sees fit to grace you with OTA, so I wouldn't bother with Kies if I were you.
You're in better hands here.

Please help with possible bricked gear watch!!!!

ok my friend ended up rooting his watch, then he wanted to unroot it..he went here and followed this guide to unroot.(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2480429) then he went here and got the firmware btu version(http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-V700) then while flashing with odin he got a error and now on screen of watch says ( firmware upgrade encounter an issue please select recovery mode in kies and try again,is there a way to fix this please..thank you
I'm guessing the watch was on android and rooted, then unrooted. Then the firmware you tried flashing ended with NF1? If so you tried flashing Tizen software onto android. Don't fear if this is what happened. Tizen is a different software then android. In order to go from android to Tizen you have to flash the first Tizen release which ends in NE9. Just download a Tizen firmware ending in NE9 and flash that. Then flash an updated NF1 Tizen release. If you want to stay on android flash an NC1, or NF6. Personally I like Tizen.
ok was able to to put it back to factory and rooted the device, issue i have having now is to install superuser on watch

I have a stock rooted T-Mobile Note 4 with TWERP recovery installed and when I attempt to set up the Gear VR I get a notice I need to do a system update. I then get a notice saying the device has been modified in an unauthorized and to try updating via kies.

I was exactly in the same shoes. All I had to do was download Kies 3 and boom. Installed latest firmware. Good luck, it'll blow you away straight from the Intro video. I've never experienced anything like this before in my life lol.
.
Kies wouldn't work for me, had to flash the update via odin. Here's the link to the update thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...mware-firmware-kernel-modem-recovery-t2902574
Had to re-root and reinstall TWERP after, easy enough though.
So far I'm loving the VR. Pretty amazing stuff!
i had the same issue trying to download update via LTE. switched to wifi and it downloaded fine

Carrier Updates

Hello everyone. I did the root on my Galaxy S6 edge, and everything's been working great. The only thing I really use it for right now is so that I can run my app radio unchained reloaded app. Otherwise I haven't changed anything. Recently I've been getting carrier updates coming in that I have not been able to accept. They continue to fail. Is there a way I can update my phone yet still keep root? Or is there something else going on?

You can Odin back to stock (oc3), take update, then root using latest ping pong root. Or, flash a custom oe2 rom using flashfire, then use Odin to update firmware to OE2, such as is explained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=61198002. Or use smart switch to update, which will remove root.

Cant get OTA updates on my Samsung s5 from AT&T after flashing android 5.1.1

Hello I have the SM-G900A and I have been having some trouble, so here is the story. So as we all know the only major carrier that hasn't received the marshmallow update for the galaxy S5 is AT&T. I got really irritated and wanted to root my phone and download a rom that had marshmallow on it for my S5. In order to root my phone I had to downgrade my version of android to 4.4.2 or lower to use towelroot. I found a stock version of android of 4.4.2 on this website and flashed it through odin and got stuck in a boot loop. I then proceeded to clear cache and reset my phone to try another rom. I tried three roms that were android version 4.4.2 and 5.0. Then I decided to try and flash a rom that was the same version as what I started out with and it worked. By the fourth try I got out of the boot loop but my phone was laggy and buggy unlike before. I also noticed that I had a different older default keyboard and I had the S finder and quick connect feature under the brightness scale in the notification panel. Something I didn't have before on my original phone to start. So I realized it wasn't the same AT&T software I started with even though the rom said it was for AT&T. Also the AT&T OTA updates didnt work. I would download them but every time I tried installing them it would say booting in recovery mode in the top left corner and get to 25% then fail. The ironic part about this a couple weeks after I did this AT&T announced that they were pushing marshmallow out to the galaxy S5. So can someone please help me get back to the original version for my phone and be able to get my OTA updates. Also I tried using Sam Mobile and samsung Kies and neither of those worked.
