Is there really no port flap? I hate dealing with those things, would almost rather go without the water resistance than deal with that.
Yes, there is no USB Port Flap. But the Usb Port looks a little bit different as a normal one.
Thanks, I can live with a little different but that flap annoys the hell out of me

Hello all, My Tilt gave me a scare when it decided not to charge on my a/c docking station or my car charger... however it still charged on my HTC charger (the one that came with the phone) I also could use active sync and flash roms okay. AFter inspecting the mini usb port I could see the far right pin was bent down and the plastic guide was broken. I bent it pack up with a safety pin and all my chargers worked again. Sometimes the pin gets bent back down and I have to re-bend it back into place. This is really not a big deal to me, i'm just worried about the day when the pin just breaks off from so much bending back and forth. I found the port from this website. (seems like alot of money to me) and I have looked over the HTC service manual for disassembly of the phone. My soldering skills are good. I have soldered in mod chips to ps 2's xboxs and my wii no problem. is this port surface mount? Is it really difficult to replace? Does anyone have any other advice or suggestions? Is this a repair that a guy with decent solder skills can handle?

I'd say go for it man. I resoldered the usb port on my wizard a couple years ago, and i had no soldering skills whatsoever. If you have some experience, you'll be a-ok. take your time disassembling, its pretty easy to do, oh, and a flux pen would be a good idea too.
If I were you, I wouldn't waste $50 on that replacement part. I would try and buy one of those HTC adapter things that turns your port into a data port and headset port and take the headset port from that. I bought one for like $5 and the headset port looks like it has all the pins of the original so you should try that for $5.

You can look at http://www.mikechannon.net/page6.html
Did a search but surprisingly couldn't any similar threads.
My USB port has become gradually looser to the point that charging it means resting the phone in such away that it applies pressure to the USB connection for it to make contact and charge the phone.
Initially some cables worked better than others but they are all starting to fail now.
The magnetic port has also failed. Does anyone have a solution for fixing the USB port?
Hi
You'll probably have to send your phone to a repair center to replace the "exhausted" usb-port. If you are handy with a soldering iron and have the guts to crack your device open, you should be able to acquire the parts ad i.e. eBay or some such and replace the port yourself. Can't be too hard seeing as it is only a four or six-pin connector that attaches to the board...
Can't figure out why the magnetic charging-port won't work though...

Hey. Thanks for the reply.
I used a magnetic connector that was too powerful I reckon and eventually pulled out the magnetic port. I glued it back in but was never the same after that.
On the USB port, I have the phone for 18 months - should I be able to get it repaired under warranty?
Whenever I plug my phone into my computer and wiggle it around a bit it disconnects. It's a brand new cable too. I'm assuming I need to have my charging port replaced?
Never assume. Check to see if it happens with a different cable first. If it repeats with the second cable, then take the phone in for servicing.
It would not be worth to replace the charging port. It is time to get a new phone, isn't it?
It would be far less expensive to replace the port than to replace the device. Besides, without actually taking apart the N6, we don't exactly know what's going on. The connector could truly be damaged, or it could be a simple issue of the connector losing connection with the motherboard due to a bad solder joing; something that some skill with a soldering iron could resolve.

Indeed, it is that time. The only phones that meet my needs (fast wireless charging, USB 3.1, Bluetooth 5.0, microSD, etc) are the s8s so I'm going to wait for the Note 8. The Essential PH-1 is also on the radar but I really don't want to go any smaller than a 6" display.

Have you tried to remove any lint with a toothpick or similar tool? Doesn't cost anything to try a thorough cleaning before anything else...
You could also use a magnetic micro USB adapter, people say they fit very tight in the plug

I'm pretty sure the port was just dirty. I blew in it (like the old Nintendo games) and now it stays connected while wiggling the cable around rather forcefully.
Do you have that to? It's a tiny tiny bit loose all four directions. Original cable. No problem with the connection. Its snug when inserting and pulling out.
Checked with my Samsung S5. It has more play, so I guess it's ok.
That's by design.
As long as the connection is good, there's nothing to worry.
Thank you! That's relaxing to know.
Remember the standard USB plugs, and when you try to plug them in, they get caught on the housing, but you think you put them the wrong way and rotate them, just to notice they're actually the wrong direction now?
That's to prevent that.

Yes, all too good. Why the S5 wireless charging is great! Wireless charging doesn't matter very much with the XZ1C because of the USB-C.
Have ordered Wsken magnetic cables to be on the safe side. The USB on my Acro S went broke a long time ago.
I had a magnetic cable, but it stuck out too much for my taste.
Tried to modify it so that it goes in further, but destroyed it in the process.
I'd love to have a flat one, tho.
Was is Wsken? It has great reviews on Amazon. Cannot order from Amazon. Doesn't ship to my country, so I ordered from Ebay.
Flat magnetic cable? Got to check that.
I was wondering if using a magnetic cable and leaving the type C connector on your phone safe? Does it do any damage to the charging port leaving it in there so long?
While not usb-c, I use them for the kids on their phones and ipads (don't shoot me)
They work great for them as it ended the constant "It goes in straight not on an angle" argument.
The actual magnetic part at the end of the cable does get a little warm but nothing to bad.
Good luck
I have been using mag cables for 1 year in my note 7, and they are really convenient, I think that as a side bonus, they keep the port clean, free of dust and lint, also prevents wear off, So, only pros, no cons

I had one of those for my Note 4 and it's micro usb port. I loved it although it got hot. No more worries about accidentally yanking the charger out and damaging the port. Apple was on to something there I must admit.
