It started about 1-month ago, the microphone quit working. I purchased another usb/microphone connector from EBAY, installed, and all was good until the cheap USB port literally came off the solder. Purchased another and installed, but this time the black clip that holds the flex cable in place broke off. After several attempts with tape, the connector stayed in place, but the phone would only charge and sporadically allow me to use the phones full USB functions.
Right now the black connector is still broken off, the phone will only charge so no USB functions like fast charge, and the microphone works randomly. Is there an easy fix to reconnect the black clip? Actually, I've lost the black clip now, and don't think that the tape is doing a good job at all.
Another strange behavior was when the phones case was pressing against like usb/mic that was installed, it would not work anymore. It was almost like there was a short somewhere.

Hi i have had an x1 since august but within a month its been dropped and then it was unable to show the screen, i opened my device to try and fix my problem but messed with nothing whatsoever, when i put everything back together it wouldnt even turn on anymore! all it did was charge and when it was fully charged there was a red light. can anyone help me? please im desperate to fix my phone. My first paycheck was spent on this and i loved it despite the numerous flaws! also i havent charged it in over 2 - 3 months. Also when i opened it the tape that connect the rear and the front is kind of messed up, would that effect anything?
The tape that connects the front and the rear is the cable for the screen, so if it's messed up, you might need to get a replacement.
here is a pic, the red part where its circled is where i think the problem is, it looks ripped off, i did have a hard time opening and putting it back together the first time also.
Sounds like (Or rather, looks like) you're screwed, as far as I can tell, if it's really ripped. Otherwise attempt to clean the contact points with some cleaning alcohol and Q-Tips - something might have made it's way in when you disassembled the unit and blocked the electrical signals.
ill try it, but if that doesnt work, would i be able to replace the flex ribbon? would acteone work?
got this checked out by my friend, he told me its the flex ribbon cable, thanks for the help btw. Does anyone know the cheapest place to get a flex ribbon cable from?
Still would like confirmation if its my flex ribbon cable before i spend 40 bucks on a new one. thanks!
Hi, I am new to this forum. Sorry for posting here but I think I have similar or same problem with my xperia. Few days ago I drooped my xperia and then I could not turn it ON. I opened unit, the flex cable was detached.
After attaching the flex cable. I could turn the unit and it booted normal but no response on touching screen I even tried to align it but it did not respond. I turned off the unit. After trying turning it back ON only back light of the screen turned on (no sony logo, no xperia logo no winmo).
I tried to turn it on few times but same result. Even tried to soft reset and hard reset it but no difference only back light. Is it because of flex cable or because some thing else? I can`t even go in to 3 color screen. Please help. Sorry for my bad eng. Thanks.
For a while my screen wouldnt update in landscape unless I tilted it a few times. Yesterday it finally stopped all together. No matter what its white screen.
I know its working because the software all works, just can't see anything. It was very easy to open up and when I saw the cable it was rubbed really far thru.
The replacement part is 30-90$ and can probably be prevented by putting a peice of tape where the metal rubs on the cable.
So to anyone that still needs their phone to work, you might wanna inspect it. I'm on at&t which means changing phones will force me into a 30$ plan on an already overly expensive plan. No choice but to fix the cable
So...I took apart my Nexus One to clean the dust from under the screen. I've done this before, but it back together and it worked. But this time, after putting it back together it wont power on. I sometimes get a vibrate after pressing the power button. One question though. This time I noticed that one end of the coax cable on the left of the phone is broken and there is no plug on it. Would this be the problem? I don't think it should though since I'm guessing it connects the GPS antenna to the rest, and I dont use GPS on my phone. Any help would be good.
EDIT: I think I didnt connect the LCD good enough.
The co ax cable must be connected to the logic board. If it won't click in connect it then secure in place with a small piece of tape.

Click to collapse
As I said, the top plug of the coax has been ripped off.
Do you know if that's the problem?
Again, when I push the button it vibrates like it usually does on boot, but doesn't show anything on screen.
I pulled out the board again, trying to find the problem.
EDIT!!!! I just noticed on the LCD ribbon cable there are a few bent pins. I think that will be my problem. I'll get it back together in like 15 minutes and report back.
EDIT 2!!!! So yea...two of the pins came off, and are way to small to find. Guess I need to order a new LCD.
Crap, new LCDs are $60+
I turned on my phone earlier to notice that the screen was suddenly completely white at full brightness whenever it was on, still touch responsive as I can hear it. This is happening immediately upon boot, not even showing the Samsung nor AT&T logos, so I believe it is a hardware issue. Has anyone else had this happen? If so, is there a solution short of getting a replacement? Maybe tearing it down and reseating the connector or something? I don't know, just a bit upset and rambling, sorry
Tore it down and undid and reseated every ribbon cable I saw, didn't help. Ordered a replacement should get it in a few days, might sell the old one for parts to recuperate some of the costs or maybe pick up one of the media docks that does TV out and USB host as well as charging, see if I can convert it to a set top box, assuming the dock will work without any setup on the phone itself
Hi everyone, I was using B-7000 glue to fixed the back, but unfortunately I used too much and some drop into the power button, when I tried to clean it I broke the wire. So I went to buy a Original power&volume button wire from network, and after disassembled whole logic board I finally changed it. It works, but when I Reassembly this phone, the speaker and Vibration didn't work anymore. It connects board by Metal contact,so I have no idea which is broken. I bought a original speaker from network, it shipped today, but I replaced it still not working. Does anyone have ideas? I will be very grateful!
