Downgrade/flash a GB ROM (v20x) x=any ROM and your bootloader is unlocked and you can root and flash custom ROMs. You had ICS installed I guess. This does have a locked bootloader and cant be rooted properly. At least u cant install a custom recovery like CWM or something similar.

Wrong. If you install cwm or whatever other recovery and have the v30 (ICS) bootloader on your phone, it will say: SECURITY ERROR. Which means you are softbricked. If you have the v20 bootloader, it will work, since this bootloader is unlocked by default. That the recovery is accessible via this button combination is true however.

Man, I was on V30B stock (now on izs v2) and i could install CWM via Rom Manager and acces it from phone turn off with the key combo. But I have a problem....maybe you know the solve for it. I can't downgrade from ICS, not even with SFT. I can flash ROMs above ICS(JB , KK) but when I try to install a Froyo or GB (stock or custom rom based on GB) i get a bootloop.

I already read about your issue and also read about that problem more often, but we never found a solution to that problem... Seems like buggy/read-only storage. Maybe contact a LG dev, hope they can help you. But trust me, if you have CWM running, no matter how you boot in it, you have the GB or even Froyo Bootloader(uboot/xloader, dont remember which one it was exactly...)
But if you had the v30 (ICS) you would see a security error. Did you once maybe install a 2nd init ROM, which allows to boot two different ROMs? If you dont know what I am talking about, I can try to find it. I think it was a ROM by BPaul.
But OT END here. Lets discuss this in your thread.

Something strange has happened. Today I flashed the topogigi GB rom. Before flashing, I updated CWM to the latest version (5.0.2.0?) and ran Backtoext3 even though I was already on ext3. The topogigi rom was corrupt (my fault) and wouldn't load. Also all my backups became unavailable in CWM. I ended up flashing an old Nightly which was my only choice. From there I rolled back CWM to the previous release (5.0.1.6?) and flashed an uncorrupted copy of the topogigi rom. Everything worked perfect.
A few hours later, I decided to try to restore my stock 10d backup. That was quite buggy. Among other things, my sim card was locked for a long while and then coming back. I restored my topogigi rom again, and it seems ok, except I have lost root.
What to do now? I wonder if the phone is unstable. Also I need root!

Yes, as the bootloader isn't locked, any ROM can be rooted. If there is no exploit then NVFlash a recovery and root via that.

Alright so here's the deal. I just rooted my phone (the superuser app is present in the menu).
There is a custom clockwork recovery thing I got going on..
So I`m trying to follow some tutorials (say the official Cyanogenmod one!) which tell you to select "install from zip" when the clockwork recovery thing is loaded. So I do that, and install the recommended stable version cm-7.2.0-p990. (Oh and I've done it about 5 times now.)
The next step is to reboot and enjoy Cyanogenmod.. except that after the reboot I just get a clean version of the official ROM again, where I have to go through the initial setup.. So what the heck am I doing wrong here ?
What bootloader are you on? What version of stock ROM you have? How did you root and install CWM? Answer these then we can move on.
I rooted my phone using the AIO-ToolKit listed here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020737
After that I flashed the recovery using Nvflash-Recovery program through batch, which makes the phone boot CWM recovery. (Had to install some APX driver on my PC first)
My phone is running the latest official rom available : Android 4.0.4 kernel 2.6.39.4

Okay weird, http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_p990 clearly suggest using Clockworkrecoverymod recovery.
What do you suggest for bootloader ? Since there doesnt seem to be a later Cyanogenmod version for the LG P990
why don't you simply go to developer section of p990 forum and find yourself a good working CM10 or CM10.1 rom for new bootloader?
every thread has the instructions/features described in the first 3 posts...
ps:
CWM has nothing to do with your problem here...

did you try a dalvik wipe? sometimes it helps
I think you need to flash twpr (you can find it on this forum) then a full wipe, after that, try another rom (i'm using for now a 4.4.4 rom, but tried several 5.02 rom's. Was working fine only a irri noise when i was caling with somebody, think my mic is broken)I would say, try also to use odin multiflasher to reset all settings of your phone, start new from the begin, It can be a nasty problem but good to fix.

If you have TWRP, you can flash anything. Root permissions apply inside the rom, not inside a custom recovery.
If you're on the recovery, you can flash anything (that your recovery allows).
inside TWRP, find a way to wipe everything except EFS. Format /system , /cache , /data and /data/media if it shows.

My sp stuck in boot loop
Hi guys, Please HELP!!!
So I rooted my phone a while ago and it was all fine until yesterday, when I changed the boot animation, stupidly, I forgot to rename the original boot animation zip so when I downloaded the new one, They both had the same name. Not realising this I went ahead and restarted the phone and I'm guessing the system did not know which one to use and is stuck on bootloop, is there any way out?

Heya there!
Did you make a backup of your ROM in a recovery? If so, boot into recovery and restore your backup.
If you don't have a recovery and didn't make a backup, the only way out would be to flash stock ftf file for your specific phone (C530X, area/region) using Flashtool by androxyde. THIS METHOD WILL WIPE EVERYTHING except your external SD

Hi, if they both had the same name then the system would've simply overwritten the old one and put the new one in. If you have a backup of your rom you could extract the original bootanimation and use a flash-able zip with your original boot animation. Or just download another bootanimation that works with sp and then just flash it.
Hi,
I own a C5303 and running on firmware 12.1.A.1.205. I would like to know what are the tools I need to root. I am aware I need to unlock the bootloader as I have some experience rooting other android devices. I have downloaded flash tool but I couldnt somehow get into the bootloader. I would like some suggestions for what firmware to use and the process to root. I did not get the latest OTA update(12.1.A.1.207) from my carrier (Virgin Mobile Australia). I have also experienced the annoying screen brightness changing from time to time.
check first that unlocking the BL is possible
Do this by going into the stock dialler entering *#*#7378423#*#* a window will open
Proceed to press service info then configuration and you can find out under rooting status if it says no your BL cannot yet be unlocked (like me). if yes you can unlock
Phone must be powered down to continue
To enter fast boot to unlock the BL press volume up then while holding it plug in the USB into your device if done correctly greenlight will appear ( do this when flash tool tells you to connect your device.) Process will ERASE internal storage so backup and DRM keys will be lost so backup those as well think there's a thread for that somewhere. Good luck phone will reboot afterwards
Hey, I want to change my GApps package which has been giving me FC's since day one. It's been a month now, so I don't wanna wipe and start anew. Any Ideas??[emoji4]

Yes.
Something not mentioned in the thread was if you use flashtool to unlock your boot loader (by pressing "BLU", " Unlock Boot loader" then enter the unlock code) it is much easier and will automatically backup ur DRM keys so if you want to relock (BLU, Unlock Boot loader, there will be a new button saying relock boot loader and the unlock code will still be entered) the DRM keys will be automatically restored.
This is for some versions of Flashtool by Androxyde... Not sure if its for all.
