Ok, i searched the S3mini forum for this problem, but nothing exactly came up...
So, since few days ago, my phone does not recognize the wall charger when i plug it in...However it recognizes the USB cable to PC just fine and i can charge that way, but it takes allot longer...the interesting part is that, while charging and connected to PC, if i take off the USB to PC cable and put the wall charger right away, then it recognizes it and charges fine...its like the phone have forgotten the wall charger and it needs to be reminded through USB to PC cable first so it can recognizes it
The problem started the same day when a friend was visiting me and he used my wall charger to charge his phone(older low-end samsung phone), so is it possible he broke the wall charger somehow? but then again the wall charger works when i do the trick above...
Should i go to a store and buy a new wall charger? and since i dont have any samsung centre anywhere near me, im gonna be forced to buy a probably good quality wall charger with 0.7A output, but no samsung original...i dont wanna screw up my battery and i need the wall charger since i travel alot and dont have PC near me most of the time
Oh and if i shut down the phone and connect the wall charger, well then that white circle that shows first, it stays there for alot longer time then usual and then it shows the battery indicator and charges normally...damn technology this days

Hi,
if PC USB is loading normal and the wall charger doesn't this sounds like your wall charger does not have enough power. Buy a more quality one and your problem should be solved.

HI Guys
I have a Tytn II and recently I went abroad, and the phone said MM#6 phone not allowed.
Now I'm back in my home country, but now my phone will not charger from any charger ( I have tried more than 1), however it will charge ok using a car charger.
If I plug it into the PC , it does not detect the phone, I done a hard reset, and that didn't fix it.
Can anyone help me with this problem or any trouble shooting idea's.
Oh and I took the battery out and put it back in.
Thanks

The PC should charge it regardless if the OS knows what is going on. The phone will just pull the 5V off of the USB and charge the phone. It is not like some other phones (my motorola IDEN i335) that require a PC driver to be installed to charge. There may be something wrong with your PC or cable if it's not charging up. Have you tried wiggling the cable or blowing out the port? I have a few USB cables that require some attention in order to work. Hope that helps.
Hi there, thanks for your help.
I tried several USB cables, and chargers, some HTC chargers and a generic one, but none of them charge the phone up. I've tried wiggling the cable , blown air in it etc.
Its weird as it charges from the car charger no problem at all, just not off the PC , or a normal charger....arghh don't know what to do with it.

it won't charge off of a normal charger either?! Sounds like you have some black magic goin on
Hey there....
Nope wont charge off a normal charger
Wont charge off a USB cable
but WILL charge off a car charger.
Have you checked the HTC website? I was just there on another issue and seem to recall seeing something in the FAQs about this issue.
nope
thanks for the help bud, but that FAQ if for phones that charge off AC adapters but not of usb
mine doesnt charge ofan AC or a USB...ONLY a car charger
Hey there Xlt, What contry did you go to and what country are you from?
If you went to a country with a 220v and your charger only supports 110v you may of damage the charger and the phone with the voltage difference and vice visa.
The car charger may work because it is only coming from a 12v power supply, you could buy a adapter that lets you use the car charger in the home socket and then see if it works to see if it was the volt difference.
Hope that Helps
My 18 month old Tytn is not longer charger via the wall chager or car charge. But strangely it will charge is connected to the PC. I have tried a few different wall chargers including the original one and also test the wall charger on other charge by USB plug devices.
I have done a hard reset and also re-installed the stock rom.
Any other idea's ?
Same strange thing happens to me since 2 weeks.
No Charge with power adapter, tried different modells.
No Charge in car
But Charge via USB from PC . And Activesync works...
Any Idea would be very helpful.

Same here, no fix, just dealing with it, hoping the charge by usb doesn't crap out.
A few months ago I receive a wallcharger from a friend who had a HTC TOUCH, as I inspected the voltage on my original TYTN II charger and the touch charger I figured out the touch charger would do the job, so I plugged in and for a brief moment the amber light go on, but almost inmediately it went of, so I guess it would not work with my phone.
But I rechecked the voltage and got me thinking what could be wrong, and after messing around a little bit with the charger and the usb plug I found out that for some reason if I plug the usb jack all the way down it doesn't make contact with the phone usb, so I have to plug it half way to make it contact and charge the phone.
Maybe that would be your case.
Good Luck.
in my situation the yellow loading light of the TytnII is even switching on when I connect the power charger . But even after being yellow=loading for a full night .
No Change in battery status

My Tilt had a loose Mini-USB connector thing.

OK. After reading people having the same problem I decided to pull mine down and take a look. Expecting to find a blown SM fuse on the circuit board. To my surprise I did not find any SM fuses in that area of the USB plug. While I had it apart I noticed some damage to the USB socket, viewable from the outside without having to pull it apart . I re-assembled the unit and VERY VERY carefully tweaked the damaged pin (pin 1 in my case) with the tiniest sewing needle I could find in the sewing kit. I bent the gold color wire back into a position matching the other 4 and pulled it into a wall charger and it started charging. So the problem in my case was a damaged pin 1 in the USB plug visible from the outside.
Charging is done by the two outside pins.
For the pinouts check out http://pinouts.ru/Slots/USB_pinout.shtml Picture on the left hand side of the screen called MINI is the same as looking at the plug on the tytn from the outside.
While looking at the plug with a magnifier I could clearly see that pin 1 was collapsed into the plastic center part and would not be making contact with the USB charger when inserted.
I will need to take more care when inserting a USB plug from now on and reduce the amount of time I used the plug. I have been geocaching with my TytnII the last few weeks and it has resulted in a lot of plugging in each time when returning to the car. This practice will have to stop for me if I want to get more millage out of my tytnII.
Recently my X1 cannot be charged with USB cable through wall outlet & even car charger , but able to charge with USB cable through PC.
Anyone do encounter the same problem?
Well that's a strange one - how long was it connected to the wall?
Without getting into the discussion about volts and amps provided, and amps drawn by the phone, any method should charge.
In terms of speed, I would think the wall would charge fastest (see above), and the USB slowest.
Did the phone show on the top bar, the charging icon when attached to the wall? Or after a period of time there was no increment in the % charge showing??
If the battery was down to 0%, you probably wouldn't see an immediate increase in the % charge. The % charge is orientative, especially at both ends of the scale.

I do agree with you. Charging with wall outlet is faster. Therefore, normally I'm charging my X1 with wall outlet, unless in office, will use PC USB.
Top bar never show charging icon, but once I charge it with PC USB, the charging icon show up immediately.
It seems like no power for the USB when connected to the wall outlet. I've tested with battery removed, plugged in USB cable connected to wall outlet, there is no charging illumination light. I cannot power on it.
I tried to recall, it happened after I used a USB charger for my MP3 player. The next day, when I tried to charge with car charger. To my surprise, the USB connection notification showed up (I do remember, while charging with wall outlet or car charger, it will never prompt me for USB connection).
I don't think, it is the ROM issue. Try a few ROM still having the same problem.
From now, I got to live with PC USB :|
X1 Charging problem
I have same problem. I can not charge via both USB-PC and Wall. In order to charge the phone, I have to switch it off and then charge it.
This happened after I used CHEAP car charger from dealexteme.com
Now everytime I want to charge my phone, I have to switch it off.

I'm using the original SE charger!? I would not think the problem with the charger, but my X1 was screwed by the incompatible MP3 USB charger
Yep same with me, not sure why mine started doing that though, I never got used a cheap charger. Maybe its the rom... I am trying a new one now.

it's not caused by the ROM, I'm very sure. I've installed different ROM. The problem still exist.
I am having a similar problem. When the phone completely discharges , i am unable to charge it with any power adapter or even car charger. I have to initially charge the phone using a PC , then after the power is around 15% , then the phone gets charged with a normal adapter.. any suggestions??
same problem. It happends when the battery is completely discharged.
what I do is use a charger w/ low amp rating (.1) and plug it in for at least 10-20min. Give it some time, it will start charging after a while (indicated by the blinking lights). After that, you can turn it on and charge it normally
I had a similar problem twice. Both times I solved it by replacing the charger.
the same happen to me and i have another issue
my xperia doesnt work as usb mass storage!!!
the solution was buying another charger but..the usb mass storage issue still not working as a flash drive!!

It works with Z1 too. Thanks a lot!
I guess something goes wrong with battery controller
When I first got the phone earlier this week, I could plug it into the charger in the wall just fine with no issues, it would just charge. Now suddenly it started telling me USB connected and goes to the MTP screen and of course locks up the phone.
I can of course bypass this by switching the phone to mass storage mode, but since I have Kies and use it occasionally, it would be nice to not have to switch that setting each time depending on my charging/syncing situation.
Why would it have not locked it up with the MTP screen originally when charging from the wall but now it does? The results are the same whether its plugged into the wall or the USB port on the computer. I have two Captivates bought brand new on a family plan, both do this now with any combination of chargers and USB cables, wall USB port, or car charger. Neither one has a common application installed since the other is my girlfriends who hasnt done much to it yet, so Im blaming the phone itself for now...

Interesting. I just checked with my BB charger and they dont do it using that charger, but they do it as soon as I connect the stock charger again.
Im wondering if its a voltage sensing circuit thats tripping due to the different voltages which should be applied - either wall charger or USB port. Maybe for some reason my wall chargers arent putting out enough voltage and its thinking its a USB port, but the BB charger is putting the right amount of voltage out?
Am I on base as to how it differentiates between wall or USB port? The number of pins obviously doesnt matter as all the cables have all the pins in them, unlike some charger cables which only have the power and ground. The only thing I can think of is that it uses the amount of voltage/current to tell the difference and create its reaction.

Sounds like a problem with the stock charger, maybe usb cable alignment. My iphone wall adapter does this with the samsung cable but the samsung wall adapter doesn't, same with my car charger from att. Also I have a $5 walmart car charger that has a cable that splits into both a mini usb and a micro usb that isn't a real usb cable, it's charge only. That cable has no problem on any wall or car adapter. I believe the phone detects if its connected by checking voltage on a data pin (just a guess really) so if a nonstock charger is used it assumes that it is a computer. But it may also be a data signal that is given off by the charger.

did you try a new charger and if so, did it work? I've had my captivate since Thursday and on Thursday it charged and everything fine, but then yesterday,
a) no computer I connect it to while recognize it, no matter what I have it set too and have latest drivers installed
b) if I charge it, after I unplug it, it locks up to black screen and I have to remove the battery to get it to work
c) I also have an in-dash touchscreen monitor in my car that has a usb port because it works with an ipod. I plugged the usb into to use it as a car charger, unplugged it, same thing
d) it did say usb connected after it was unplugged, but I switched from mass storage to ask on connection and it went away
so is an actual wall charger the solution?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
and now I unplug it, and if it locks, it will not unlock, just black screen
I have to take out the battery and then only way to get it to turn back on, is to plug it back in the wall

^^^Ouch that's not right, if you can't figure it out you may need to re-flash or just bring it back under warranty, or insurance

I cleaned everything, it is a new battery

I have tried 4 different adapter/cords combos ( just in my house) none of them charge my phone in an outlet - all work with my wife's smaller samsung in output. so weirdly only a direct usb with the oem cord to computer works ( in both my desk and laptop). so weird. so annoying.
You have to buy a new charging port, and the board that comes with it. This is a link to the part you need. If you search "n7000 charging port flex ribbon" you should be able to find other places that have it. http://www.etradesupply.com/oem-samsung-galaxy-note-gt-n7000-charging-port-flex-cable-ribbon.html
