[Q] Should I contact Moto's assistance? - Moto X Q&A

Hey guys, this is my first post. I googled before posting this here, found nothing specific related so here we go :
I noticed this a week ago, and I'm afraid this "burn" at the top-right side or whatever it is will increase, compromising my display quality.
another thing I worry is that the nearest Motorola assistance is pretty far away, so I'm afraid to make my way there just so they can laugh at me and say "sorry, this is not a problem we cover".
1.Has anyone had a similar problem?
2.Should I ask for repair/another device or simply ignore this?

Poor performance

I am really struggling with this phone!
Yes it looks great.. and the 3d touch flo looks great.
But the blo*dy thing is crap at doing what it is designed for... being a phone.
When trying to get it going after it has been sleeping it can take an age... totally unresponsive...
I need a phone to work properly and not just sit there and look shiny!
I have added the enhancements and am using the Elite 2.0 rom..
Cheers
the problem with TF3D disable it
or
upgrade to latest rom
Blimey last poster you really don't read things before you post your sharp responses do you?! That's at least two from you today. Seems to be quite the habit on this forum which is depressing for a new person on the block (like me).
At original poster, if what I think you mean is you want to use it to call straight away after waking it up - I share your frustration. It does seem to take a while before I can get it to call out after sleeping and I've used HTC, Elite and TLR roms and it's all the same for me.
What network are you on maybe that has something to do with it - I'm T-Mob.
another useless, whiner thread...
what's the question? now we know that u r not satisfied with the diamond. now what? what's the drama? send it back for a refund.
this is not a wall to graffiti slogans and complains.

What you see as useless other see as interesting and usefull.
I am thinking of buying this phone as i'm fed up with waiting for the i900 Omnia and this thread has been usefull. Now, thanks to reading this thread I am warned about slow "wake-up" of the Diamond and now more hesitant, almost to the point of not buying it.
Sadly though, you seem to judge everyone else by your own standards.
Ericsson68 was indeed trying to be helpfull by two things:
1; confirming that he too has a slow "wake-up" e.g its not he op's phone itself
2; Offering a possible explanation "What network are you on maybe that has something to do with it - I'm T-Mob. "
No one is forcing you to read these posts and no one is forcing you to write a pointless reply. It is often said by wise people (and those with friends!), if you have nothing constructive so say, don't say it.
So Erricsson and TrevorM, thanks guys! You've highlighted to me that this phone may have an issue, even with the latest roms applied, in that its slow to wake up. This is EXACTLY the reason i'm here along with many others!

Dude listen the way i see it is that if you havent got anything useful to say or post then refrain from doing so. People are going to complain no matter what you or anyone else says. Like Monty says people have different ideas as to what is good for them and what isnt...fact of the matter is everytime i see you post...your always having a pop at someone who asks a question or slates the phone. Do you actually own HTC??...because sometimes your posts come across as a HTC fanboy...so what if people are saying the phone is useless/rubbish.
I'll say this about the Diamond, i love it but its hard work getting everything to run as you want it to. Personally HTC have alot to answer for, their QC testing is quite frankly crap and rubbish. They were in such a hurry to get this phone out...it seems like their engineers/designers fell asleep for a few months. The stock rom has too many niggles and problems with it, thankfully we have a place like this where we have some excellent guys who are making the Diamond a more enjoyable product due to their new roms. I swear if places like this didnt exist...HTC wouldnt be in business for much longer.
With regards to the OP, as i said before the phone is hard work...sometimes i struggle to do anything with it but i still love it. Perhaps try the TLR rom...its much faster and seems more smoother. AS for the sleeping issue??...it does take a few secs to get it back up and running but i can live with that...its not like it takes forever...well mine doesnt feel like that.

i gave you a hint. you didn't get it. keep on spamming.
Since when is the forum becoming a customer review of phones ?
I see already a thousand threads about the things that the Diamond does not fulfill. If you start reading them it is amazing what people whine about! "My phone does not react instantly after waking up", "My phone does not go to vibrate when I flip ip when it rings", "my phone is not the chickmagnet HTC promised it to be, I stil do not have a girlfriend" ...
So you use the title "poor performance" and then that is your strongest statement to back this up ??? nice one mate!
@Monty
Buy the phone, play with it, use it and then decide! What other people think might not always apply to you. I do not even have much issues with the battery.
If your want your phone to fly you to the bahamas then I suggest you buy yourself a plane.
This is at this moment the best phone you can buy! no doubt about it, I had the iphone for a week and then got this one. Now I only use the iphone for cutting bread on!

Kukuirukuwuay: 1 post is hardly spamming and tbh, if thats the best most informed response you can come up ... you should maybe try the American "whatever", at least that has comedy value.
MisterSosa, it does have reviews of it and so what? Peoples(Owners reviews) and more importantly, there day-to-day comments and experiences are vital. Its these bug reports/issues/compliments/"wow look at this feature" posts that help some people decide and whats wrong with that? Like it or not HTC does not make perfect gear, if it did, there would be no need for this site. The bugs people discuss on here are read by the people who create ROM's and sometimes fixed by them. TBH, I wouldn't be suprised if there are HTC developers on this site everyday. I certainly know that Toshiba devs monitor myg900.com
I do agree with you 100% that people see phones diferently and whilst it works for one, it won't work for another. That said, to be "the best phone you can buy!" would take some doo'ing! My experience with HTC hardware (not software) is that this is unlikely to be the case purely on reliability, 10 months down the road it will probably develope hardware failures just like my previous 3 HTC phones (and that doesn't include the factory replacements). Also, "best" depends entirley on your needs. I'm still tempted to wait for the Omni as it will have a 5mp camera built in to it, something that doesn't seem to of sunk into HTC yet! Not to say I won't buy this, I like the form factor and the screen res (im used to 800x480 so this would only be a small downgrade).
However, I now consign myself to the fact that HTC phones only last at most a year and IF I buy this, it will be with that in mind.
This site in particular and similar sites do indeed help people choose there next phone - assuming they are informed enough to look for sites like this and even the OP's post is usefull. Read into it his frustration: Can you not see that his post is actually a complement? It says to me that the OP thinks its an awesome phone .... except this one really minor but pain in the arse thing, the wake-up delay.
Yes your right, i could buy it and then send it back if I don't like it (assuming the shop are going to allow me, they don't have to) but how many times am I going to do that before I get told to get stuffed by the shop(s)? Also, I may also not discover everything I need to about the phone in the two weeks, usualy accepted by shops here in the uk, that I need to and then i maybe stuffed with a phone I don't want.

Completely and utterly wrong...this is a forum, it may very well be a developer forum but as of yet i havent heard any of the moderators in here say that we cannot give any opinions/views on what we think of the phone.
Crikey!!!
Didn't expect this kind of response.
Maybe it is useful for the DEVELOPERS to know how things are working (good or not)??
I have had any number of phones over the years - WinMo HTC, non HTC, Symbian etc. and this is the first one that I am really struggling with.
It is correct to say that it is hard work to get the equipment operating smoothly. The problem I have with that is, even after applying improved ROMS, performance enhancements, registry tweeks etc. the basic function is simply not working correctly. Why does it take so long for the phone to become ready for use?
Maybe a vanilla ROM will improve things, but then again I am left with a shiny shell which is a good phone (I may as well buy a cheap nokia!!).
I would be interested to know if other Diamond users are experiencing terrible lag, long delays and unresponsiveness..
Cheers
mobile not used for 3 hours, was lying on my desk.
press power button slide from all programs to home tab, press the phone button ... pops up immediately, dial colleague number and its dialing.
Where is the lag/delay in this story ?
ever try to close the running applications since the first time you turned it on ?
Thanks ... what ROM are you using - which enhancements have you applied?
Cheers
@MisterSosa and KukurikU
You might not be experiencing it... some are.
If you haven't got any constructive help to add why not go and join another thread? You're not being forced to read our comments but we are unfairly being forced to read yours in a thread that we want to add our experiences to in a calm and collected way.
Now kindly leave the thread so that we can DEVELOP a solution to what some of us see as a problem.

Sorry to hear that Monty, as you can see by my signature I have owned all manor of HTC phones and i havent had to send most of them back (admittidley the C500 had to have the rocker stick repaired on mine and my girlfriends phone but I dealt with HTC direct as orange didnt want to know and HTC were very helpful and within 5 days I had the phone back)
I don't suffer from the lag that a few people in this thread are mentioning.
Ive got a WWE Touch Diamond with Rom Version 1.37.405.1 WWE, ROM Date: 06/10/08 Radio Version 1.00.25.03 and im on tmobile UK. My TouchFLO 3D version is 1.0.1630.23.
Ive NOT applied ANY tweaks to my phone at all, no registry edits, hacks or Rom updates and my phone works without lag when trying to make a phone call.
How long does your take, in secs, from when you have pressed the power button at the top to wake the phone up to when you press the Phone button (the left phone softkey?)
Where do you experience the problem? Do you find its when you use TouchFLO 3D? Or can you goto ALL PEOPLE from the PEOPLE TAB on TouchFLO 3D and its still laggy?
Sorry to hear your having problems guys but this forum is here to help you.
Thanks .. I see you are using an uncooked rom. Have you applied any of the registry tweeks etc.?

Only time I've see a delay in opening the phone app so far (3 weeks) was when I received a phone call AND a txt msg almost simultaneously...just as I was trying to copy/paste some info from Opera into a reply to a previous txt msg.

I've finally gotten a Kaiser...

...and no I'm not going to ask everyone what's the best ROM or some such; I read the "Read Before Posting". I just thought I'd kind of introduce myself and allow people the opportunity to relive their first experiences vicariously through me.
But yea, I'm very excited to finally get my hands on one of these and I've got a serious amount of reading to do on how to get everything nice and nifty. Wish me luck!
I do have one serious question though, as far as physical aesthetic modification, how easy is it? I may want to repaint things and especially get rid of that awful AT&T logo. I'm assuming there are those out there that have tried similar things to what I'm thinking of.
Someone was asking this before, I think someone else was suggesting sugar cubes, but I cannot find the post... I'll keep looking.
EDIT:
Found It: Search this forum for "Sugar" there are loads of ATT Logo Removal threads
Dave
Hey! Thanks for lookin' out.
As far as actually repainting the whole thing, has anyone done it? Faceplate only, though.
I hate the ugly att logo, like most people. although honestly this phone doesnt look all that slick to begin with. The kaiser is an amazing phone, even more so if you know how to use it right xD
welcome and hope you enjoy it here.

I have the Stellar and I thought it was really nice looking when it came out. But since the Diamond / Raph, well ... what can I do
Dave
Hey everyone! I finally got my Kaiser yesterday and I spent all night and morning toying with it.
I'm now using HDIII and I've customized it completely to my tastes with all the different tweaks and such out there. Thanks for the welcomes!
It's so funny now, though, because after all this customization, I keep feeling like there's more I could do to it and I want to do it all, haha.
If I had known the Kaiser was capable of such things, I would've gotten one long ago.
[EDIT]
I was wondering if anyone would be willing to just tell me how to fix one thing. I probably could've searched it, which I did, but I guess I either did something wrong or that wasn't it. I wanted to change the screen where it displays the 'RGD' lines with the numbers. I thought that would be the 'welcomhead.96.png' but I guess that's not it. So, how could I change this? Thanks.
If you are talking about the little numbers in lower right corner when it boots, that's the software and radio version info it can only be changed with a different ROM.
That's the Splash screen, there is a post by pof and by -888- somewhere that will help you.

physical keyboard problems

on my physical keyboard on my tilt some of the keys are not very responsive...they dont have good tactile feedback when you push on them. it really came to my attention when i worked on one of my co-workers tilt and his had a lot better feedback...dont know if its fixable or not?? ideas?
Sometimes it amazes me on what people will post now days.
Either send it in for service or get a new keyboard and replace it.
that's funny it amazes me that there are still people out there (such as yourself) who take the time to post a worthless reply...and you are shocked at my post...
think you should step back and think before you post.
and just so you know i did have a replacment sent to me but it felt the same as mine so i sent it back. FYI we have about 6 tilts in my office i've checked 2 of them and there is a definite difference in the feel.
Are you expecting a cab fix for worn out keys? Seriously?
You're complaining about the feel of your keyboard, so what do you expect from anyone here? It's not a software problem, and your not happy with a hardware fix, what else is there?

Not to beat a dead horse or prolong this thread, but I agree and I will try to be nice,. If you don't like your phone, the feel , the speed , the camera, the video playback and the hundreds of whines about the tilt, then get a new phone. The waste of time time here is not the response, it is the fact that much of this forum has turned into the weiner whiner line.
I love my Tilt, it is the best phone I have ever had and I have had a lot. If you don't like HTC or your phone, get a new one, nice and simple.
starting to wish i never posted this...
I love my tilt. no, i'm not expecting a software fix. (even though at&t had me reboot my phone in attempt to fix it) yes i would be happy with a hardware fix...its just the replacement phone i got was the same.
if you have access to more than one device try a couple of them out see if you can notice the difference in keyboards (my co-workers can, and they can tell that mine has some issue)
what i was hoping for was someone who is aware of what i'm talking about and could say yea...take your phone a part and do this to fix it...instead im getting this (see above)
who ever is in charge feel free to kill this thread because it's going no where fast!!!!
Per request thread closed. You can replace the keyboard if you want, though personally i'd pay someone to do that for you rather than trying it yourself if it's that big an issue. You could also try a warranty replacement if you're eligible.

HTC one on sprint has gone batty.

I'm having problems with GPS and I started getting error messages about 4g lte network and some kind of sd card read error. I had to shut the phone off a few times today. I'm not sure what is going on.
Do I just need to return it?
MOD EDIT:
YOU MEAN THIS.
I love reading threads like this because I always feel warm inside when I get to laugh at other peoples stupidity. When you posted this what went through your mind? Did you really think with the information you've provided anyone would be able to seriously help you? How about you first go and research the exact problems you're getting, spend a good while doing that, then watch this video (not to make fun of you but because genuinely it's a pretty good guide on how you should act) and then and only then if you're problem is a really a unique snowflake in the storm of idiocy, post everything you know about your problem and every detail no matter how small a detail you think would be relevant.
Also, "HTC One on sprint has gone batty" might sound cool and hip to a group of 13 year old kids but it made me cringe, hard.

PLEASE HELP ME! my phone is "rooted" with 3 third-party apps my BF installed!
I noticed that my nexus 6 was acting funny, and since my boyfriend purchased this phone for me- he set the entire thing up. The day it arrived, he plugged my phone into his laptop and started typing away at what looked like a black screen and a boxy white font with a bunch of rom codes etc(at this point, i was totally clueless and oblivious to what he was doing)...
Then, he would sporadically bring up specific texts that i had sent, and at times would randomly pinpoint specific addresses and times and asked me about them(mind you, they were my friends homes) which left me to wonder "how the hell did he even know about that text or specific location unless my phone is hacked??"
so, i took my phone to a specialist who confirmed that my phone was rooted with a custom ROM along with 3 third-party apps "kernel adiutor", "pure nexus", and "xda labs".
Once i called tech support for my phone, they said they couldn't help me because they're third party apps that are not legal to use in the first place.
long story short, his mom confirmed recently that he in fact has my phone hacked. can somebody please give me insight on the apps he installed and the purpose they serve?? what kind of access/capabilities does he have now that my phone is rooted even if i restore my phone???
Kernel Auditor Xda labs and pure nexus are not phone hacking apps Xda lab is app by xda community and Kernel Auditor is for tweaking the kernel and i think Pure Nexus is a Custom Rom for the Nexus
If you want to get rid of this you can ask service centre to flash Stock Rom of Nexus phone
Sent from my SM-A9000 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Download a factory image from here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Follow the instructions on the webpage. Doing this will wipe your phone and put it back to 100% stock.

You have a very *very* serious problem.
As khanboyz007 says, the apps you mention are entirely pukka, totally normal, nothing suspicious.
But...
If you can't trust your boyfriend so much that you have to post for help from anonymous strangers, then your problem is far deeper than your Nexus 6. From the technical side of your description, he's done nothing at all wrong, but from reading between the lines you don't trust him, and *that's* a dealbreaker.
Why are you asking us instead of him? Give him a chance to explain. Maybe there's nothing more sinister than you (clearly without any technical knowledge... sorry...) don't have your phone password-protected and he's just looked at your texts - in itself a breach of trust, but still not justifying posting in a public forum to strangers.

I wouldnt say that at all. If he can tell where she has been and what text she is sending then he installed one of the many monitor apps onto her phone which is illegal.
My advise would be to completely wipe your device. Flash a stock rom and dont let him touch your device.
As for your personal life no one can or has any right to say anything about that. Do what you think is best.
If he knows the locations you've been at its possible he has your google+ share location set where it's shared with him. Or possibly he had set up an email for you on it and is signing into it to track your location. As far as the apps you mentioned they are %100 percent legal, most carrier don't know anything about rooting or custom Roms and will not give you adequate advice. But as they said, you can just flash the stock image, make your own Gmail to sign in or make sure to change your Gmail password. After you do make sure that that you put a password on your device that he doesn't know.
"then he installed one of the many monitor apps onto her phone"
Isn't that what I said...? No trust. This isn't in any way a technical question - it's about their relationship.
And since I've seen your many posts here over the years I know you've got a fair amount of life experience, in which case I can assume that you know of Occam's Razor - the simplest explanation is likely to be the correct one, and the simplest explanation here is not that he's installed a monitoring app but is simply looking at the phone. I stand by my comments.
"no one can or has any right to say anything about that"
Yes, I agree, it would be none of my business - *if* she hadn't asked for my advice (as well as yours).
If she has so little trust in her partner, and has asked for advice (technical or otherwise), then the answer has to be "Look very carefully at your relationship".
(P.S. To avoid the inevitable "sexist" comments, yes, I've assumed it's a female poster, but I'm aware that there are alternatives).
To be honest I think it might be a moot point as he is most likely part of this forum and has seen this post.
Then he's got the message...
Or this is just a prank. Like I'm getting private messages from people who haven't even posted yet to fix their phones.

Yes, that same thought had occurred to me. I give the benefit of the doubt unless there's a clear sign that it's a joke, and this one does come close to the edge...
A lot of effort for a not-funny joke though. It would be good if the OP provides some feedback - I do get very fed up with people asking for advice, which is given maybe by half a dozen people who have taken the time and trouble to provide it, only for the OP to vanish into the ether without so much as a "thank you" button press.
Step one, flash the phone back to stock using the links provided eariler posts.
Step two, dump the loser - he is too controlling, and this will never change...
Now that the personal advice has been given, let's bring this thread back to troubleshooting device issues, not relationship issues . Thanks for your cooperation.

Your friend has set up your phone the same way as he should do for himself.
There nothing wrong with rooting and the apps you mentioned.
My idea is that ask him very friendly to flash the latest official stock Rom.
Tell him that you prefer the official rom of Google.
Because you want official support when there is something wrong. And you don't need root acces because you only use 'normal' apps.
As everything there are disadvantages.
A rooted phone allows you to install layers. That makes it possible to choose dark themes. And that's important when you need a better battery life.
I Bet he's using Cerberus. Go into your settings>apps, select to include system apps. You'll be looking for a app name: system framework. If you see this He is tracking you using Ceberus, . This app/service is pretty awesome. I was able to track my phone down, see the texts sent, turn the mic on and listen to where my phone was at. .
Like everyone said flash a new rom. clean slate. Then dump dude, there should be no need for that crap.

Once i called tech support for my phone, they said they couldn't help me because they're third party apps that are not legal to use in the first place.
long story short, his mom confirmed recently that he in fact has my phone hacked. can somebody please give me insight on the apps he installed and the purpose they serve?? what kind of access/capabilities does he have now that my phone is rooted even if i restore my phone???

to me, a "specialist", it sounds like he did you a favor, by rooting your device, and adding apps that you will need to control your own phone. your "own" i say because otherwise you are just using someone elses device, that you happened to pay for with your money. so, instead of posting a pissy thread, id do a little more research on how to control your own phone, and then tell him thank you.
oh, btw, just because the apps arent from the play store, it does not make them illegal to use, at all. you can use whatever app you want, from wherever you want, LEGALLY.
I'm coming round to istperson's point of view - this thread is beginning to look more and more like an elaborate pointless hoax, and not a very funny one.
There are far too many of these threads where people ask a question and then disappear without the courtesy of a sign-off or even a "thank you". Very discouraging, and makes me less keen on spending my time here trying to help timewasting ingrates...
I'm gonna close this thread for now. If the OP has anything else to add they can contact me again to reopen it.
Not all apps are legal. It really depends on where you are living. As an example. Things like keyloggers, call recorders (depending on local laws) screen recorders and things of this nature are completely legal in some countries like China, while being completely illegal in other places in the world.
Also installing tracking software of any kind on someone's device is also illegal.
We have to remember that many people search for help on something, reg to the forum to get the answer and dont come back until they have another issue. This is becoming far more common as of late.
