I have a stock Att Moto X running 4.4.2. Sometimes it just powers off randomly, but several times it has powered off when plugged into the charger. Reminds me of custom kernels when the minimum CPU clock is set too low. I've factory reset it and removed Nova launcher. Any ideas?

Install custom ROM... If anything it's probably a corrupt stock ROM that you have so that's what I would do before coming to a conclusion... Or flash stock ROM over your current one
I can't disable write protection. I'm on 4.4.2 locked boot loader lol.

Hi!
I've had my phone on a custom ICS ROM for quite a while now and for some reason the phone was giving me problems so I tried to go into my Safe System but the screen is just black. I'm pretty sure I installed a ROM on it a while ago but there is a chance I did not.
When I plug the phone into the computer I can't turn it on all I see is the white light.
When I plug it in to the outlet then I see the Bionic Logo and then I see the Safestrap Safe System Enabled. If I touch Search or Menu (or nothing at all) the same thing happens: It goes away to a black screen. The only way to turn It off is to take out the battery with it unplugged from the wall charger or hold down the voume down + power button for a while.
It won't turn on any way other then being plugged into the wall outlet charger..
How can I fix this / start fresh and reinstall a rom? I can't do the thing where I boot into the options by holding the volume buttons and the power button, either. Nothing happens when It's not plugged into the wall outlet (or white LED when plugged into the computer)
I also left it on the black screen for a few hours just to make sure It was charging, If it was at all.
Thanks for any help in advance..
What version of safe strap are you using. Try version 3.05 if your not using it. I had the same problem before and this fixed that issue on ICS.

How can I do that.. (I can't get into FastBoot)
You'll have to install it on your custom ROM if you can access safe side.

Sorry to sound like a noob but, I installed all of this a long time ago and followed a specific tutorial.
So I don't know what you mean.. on the SD card?
I went to a Verizon store and found a lady who worked there with a Bionic and she charged my battery for me, and then I could get into recovery.
Thanks for your help though!

So I don't care if it takes a couple hours for the phone to charge, the problem is that the phone charges to 100% in about 2 hours and I don't think that is normal, I assume the kernel with android hd revolution has fast charge enabled. I have not installed a new kernel. I did but then i flashed a new version of hd revolution, I assume that overwrites the kernel

download an app like trickster mod and see if fast charge is enabled...
ARHD comes with the stock kernel. I believe it is turned off.
I downloaded the app but it doesn't say anything about quick charge. Maybe i am looking into the wrong place where is it in the app.

I believe that HTC has not enabled Qualcomm's fastcharge 1.0 and I think that the fast charge that certain custom kernel will optionally enable is a different thing entirely.
My understanding is fast charge enabled by custom kernel is more accurately called usb fast charge , which will allow greater than 500ma when plugged into pc or laptop usb 3 port for charging.
I don't believe this will alter the charge current or rate when plugged into HTC or other model of ac mains charger

I think you are exactly correct about fast charge. And I've read that people have destroyed usb ports by trying to over-draw them with it enabled.

I installed battery monitor widget and it tells me the amount of current the phone is drawing from the charger and also how much it loses when it's not charging. The phone starts off at a low 220 but when I went to look at how much it was taking in it said 800. How could fast charge be enabled if I don't have it. Maybe the hd revolution has it enabled in the Rom. Is there a way to flash the stock kernel. Thanks

Hello,
I've got a HTC One s-off with Inside Coin cfw and touch recovery.
Every now and then my phone shuts completely off without shutting down, its complete off.
If I press the power button it boots mostly correct but every now and then it shows the loading rom screen or just the HTC One screen and shuts off again.
Could this be an failure of the phone/battery itself from falling down or could it be a software problem?
Right now it doesn't even starts if I press down power for over 10 seconds - need to wait some time or put it on the loading cable.
Have you had that issue on other roms? Are you running a custom kernel?

I didn't tried other roms yet, no custom kernel so far.
Right now I don't get a light on the screen or the orange loading light on the loading cable.
Computer did find an Android device for short time but black screen on the phone.
You should test another Rom to see if your battery is faulty. But before you do... I need to know:
When you manage to boot completely, what does your battery meter or stats say?
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I had 31% and I just wiped and installed the newest version of Inside Coin
While in titanium backup the phone shut off again and won't start right now.
I put it on the loading cable for the night and will see if I get it going tomorrow.
It could be the battery. If it happens that it goes from 100% to nothing within jus 20-30 min, then it is broken. Happened to me.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Okey just fully charged, plugging out, shutting off my alarm clock and browsing through sense - phone off.
Short push on power and right after HTC Inside it shuts off again, but with power button and Vol- I can get into recovery, Hboot 1.44 without anything happend.
/edit
What does it mean when back and home button are blinking?
You are doing a hard reset / force off the phone. If it means anything other than that I don't know.

I finally got my phone on again (after 6 hours) and battery says 80%
Should I try CM10.1/CM10.2 instead of Inside Coin and/or maybe another bootloader? My HBoot is still 1.44 and CWM 6.0.3.1
Any you like. Remember to check md5. If you wish u can upgrade hboot too.

Ill try to explain my problem in detail...
I have an unlocked bootloader Xperia Z
I flashed first 4.4 build to try the new kitkat android....
On these build i have incredible battery life but, obviously other kind of stability problem....
Then I reverted back to Monxified 4.2.2 rom, and I make a little mistake (flashing new rom with phone at 40% battery with cable plugged in.....
After this i start experiencing bad battery life and suddently shut down at 30-40% battery level....
I tried various full charge (even with phone shuttend down) and long time charging even after the battery indicator is full......
Nothing changed and situation get worse with phone shutting down at 60%...
After this i tried move to 4.4.2 beanstalk.....
It seems to work a little better but again phone suddently shut down during usage and start to be unable to go after boot logo (before bootanimation)
If I power on phone i see the kernel logo and when boot animation must came in phone simply shut down.....(it doesn't reboot or go in bootloop it shut down and I have to push the power button to see the same crap)
With power cable plugged in phone work without problem, but even after startup if I remove cable phone shut down after 30sec-1 min....
BUT, and this is the strange one...
If I boot in recovery i can do what i want....even withoud external power in recovery i can use phone for 30 minutes adn over without shutdown...i can flash rom and other stuff and my Xperia Z doesn't turn off....
I'ave also tried to flash a completely stock FTF with sony official kernel (4.2.2 and 4.3 versions) but nothing chage....
Leaving aside recovery...every rom i flash simply can't go after kernel logo without external power
,
I often flash new roms with cable plugged in... So, you have already done a full wipe, so try to use the battery calibration app, maybe the battery stats are corrupted.

Omg i can't believe people still try that rubbish that app does absolutely nothing as every time the phone is shut down and restarted it creates a fresh battery stats file every time.

Indeed. The option to delete batterystats.bin was removed from most custom recoveries long ago as it does nothing.

so what is ur status now? its your phone ok already? mine also same. can only use my phone during charging only.if i unplugged the charger,it will shutdown after less than a minute.
what make it worse is after several flashing ROM and fresh FTF,suddenly my phone cannot on. push the power button, its vibrate and boot till sony logo and then shutdown. if i turn it on while pluggin charger is also the same, shutdown after sony logo and repeated itself.
any suggestion?
some one said the culprit is chargemon.stock ..but i already flash a fresh FTF.and if i plug on my pc, it will automaticly boot to flashmode without me pushing vol+ button, but it will shutdown after 30sec.
really need some expert help cause im using my phone as a navigator on work.:crying:

Confirm its battery issue. I opened the back cover, unplug the battery, connect phone to wallcharger and same.shutdown after sony logo. So i force the battery to charge using my old modified charger and connect to the battery terminal, wait for 10 minutes and reconnect to phone.and its reboot

Thanks so much for this information, my phone was having exactly the same issue. It's awfully hard to find this thread among all the other "battery dead" xperia z posts. I'm going to buy another phone battery from eBay now.
Have you guys even tried flashing stock firmware using seus? The OP only states he tried other roms but not stock.
Yes. Already flash using emma. Same problem persist.

Is anyone experiencing a warm back with s5 especially after a reboot? Is goes up to 99 degrees F and drains the battery but nothing else is running. Anyone know the cause? Thx in advance.
I haven't noticed any unusually high temps, it runs about as hot as my Note 2 would under similar situations.

Ok, do you know what the temperature would be under normal use? Wondering if I need to exchange mine which I don't want to do.
I've been emailing and browsing XDA for the last 20 minutes and its been sitting right around 85*F every time I've checked on it.
Have you checked what apps are running? I've noticed some warming when I have used the camera or internet extensively, but nothing like my GS3 used to.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
No I haven't experienced that stuff. It runs very smoothly.
I'd recommend resetting the android os from settings 》 backup&reset.
The next level is to completely reinstall the operating system using Samaung Kies (download straight from Samaung website). Install usb drivers from samsung site.
Once kies recognized your phone, run a full backup if you have anything you'd wish to back up, then reinstall/intitialize phone software.

Here is a graph showing the phones temp over the last 5 hours.
On the S4 upon initial boot up, the phone performs a media scan on of the internal storage and SD card. While this was happening, the phone would become noticeably warmer, I believe the same thing is happening to your S5.
Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk
Generally it shouldnt heat up. You should try a factory reset but heating is normally caused by a bad settled kernel in the firmware. Seeing as there are no custom kernels to replace it and stock firmwares to flash in Odin you could just factory reset.
