Dual Boot!!! - Galaxy S 5 General

So A While Back I Made A Youtube Video ON DualBooting Any Samsung Vibrent Phone. The Process Worked on all Devices i Tried It My Self
((( I Did Not Make This Process)))
So Like Most i Had To Get My Hands On The S5 For Really No Reason.
As Soon As I Picked It Up Out Of The Box It Went Straight To Rooting
There Arent To Many Good AOSP Roms Out There For The S5 Just Yet But There Are Some Great TouchWiz ...
My Favorite Being
Echoe Rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2719593
Echoe Rom Was One Of the Roms I Used For My Dual Boot On The S4 So I Decided I Was Going To Give The Exact Same Process A Chance On My S5 .....
And It WORKED!!
I Uninstalled It For Now Due To My Dissatisfaction With All AOSP Roms For Now But As Soon As I Find One I Like Im Defenatly Doin This.
Here Is a Link To My Video I Made On YouTube.
There Is a Link To The Original Thread There And All Of The Nessicary Files In The Discription
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPGd4TPSB5w
none of this is my work just found out that it works
the original thread is here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2447534
yeah its for the s4 and the app will say s4 but it worked for me and im an on the tmobile s5

If this is really working, then well done!

I just came from the S4 and used the same process for dual booting. I will try it out now and post my results. I'm assuming you used chenxiaolong's Dual Boot Patcher to patch the AOSP rom?
How did you patch your secondary ROM?

I'm going to have to try this!

Any update on this did it work? I want to dual boot pac-rom!

How come you can figure out dual booting but cant comprehend capital letters

OP use chenxiaolong's Dual Boot Patcher from this S4 thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2447534
He didn't mentioned about it. Also Youtube tutorial is for Galaxy S4 and links to download doesn't work. I wouldn't risk trying to do that on S5 it sounds like a BS to me.

you can use this sorry about that

Update
the dev changed a few things recently like the patcher and swticher app are now in one
the only app you need is the patcher
the download links have been changed on my site
the Patcher app will not make the dualboot file if it is on your sd card you would have to transfer to the device first
few aosp roms work with the app but you can still do it manually
Workin on it
im also working on making a video showing that this works but im procrastinating lol sorry

Hey guys, I'm the author of the Galaxy S4 DualBootPatcher app.
I just want to point out that this is currently working purely by chance. ROMs with updater-scripts that refer to the named partitions (eg. "/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/boot") are safe to try, but any ROM that uses the partition numbers directly (eg. "/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/mmcblk0p16") have a chance of bricking the phone irrecoverably because the partition table does not match the Galaxy S4's.
In the next version of the patcher, I will be adding support for the S5 and the Note 3. Until then, I do not recommend dual booting

[sprint] CWM backup of EB28

Ok, hi guys,
I was doing an update for a friends sprint galaxy tab today, he had the eb28 ota installed on it, so i did a cwm backup after i had rooted and installed the vzw cwm zimage, i gabbed the .img files and zipped them up, and using dsixda's android kitchen to extract everything, de-odex'd, zipaligned apk's and rebuilt a cwm flashable zip.
since i havent seen this here i thought id post it for anyone to use, especially since it seems work on the sprint galaxy tab is stagnant..
I hope its useful..
(i havent flashed it, but it should work fine, afaik)

yeah no problem, im just hoping that maybe some cooks in this forum can use this, i hate to see a device left in the cold
i think i may have found the reason why its working flaky.. it seems that when its deodexing, it runs into some files that it has to brute force and one (mobileprint.apk/odex) that wont de-odex at all...that may be what is causing the issues.. ill try and post the files odexd so someone could test..

EB28 is the latest release of Froyo from sprint. So it's the latest version of stock. Not gingerbread. Not sure how long we'll have to wait to see an official GB release for this Tab, but I'm hoping soon.

anyone deodexed tmobile stock rom?

Has anyone deodex and successfully installed a stock system image yet? I haven't tried this yet but I am thinking of giving it a shot sometime soon. I was wondering if there were any potential issues of doing this such as wifi calling or what not. The reason I'm doing this is because I'm s-off'd and I'm hoping a deodexed system will allow xposed to successfully work.

Any luck? A deodexed rom would be a huge help for the development community to work on this phone, especially with WiFi calling and voice over lte.
I made a flashable zip, but forgot to change permissions on the apk's on it. It still booted up into android and then android performed it's "upgrading" function at startup and then it rebooted into a bootloop. I had to go somewhere so I ended up flashing back my backup and have not gotten back to it since then as I just got home. I'll try it some more tomorrow or over the weekend.
Any luck on the deodex process? If you need a tester, I'd be glad to help.

same here would love to help.
Hi,
No I haven't had time to work on it any further. I am using a mac so the deodex arm64 tools are all in windows so that's been one challenge, but I was able to do some of that work on my work laptop. The other issue is that I am having trouble getting my updater binary to work. It's failing in TWRP. I'm going to set up a linux environment and install archikitchen when I have more free time, but I've been pretty busy lately.
For whatever reason, I was able to get my original zip to install and reboot and even do the android upgrading function, but then it rebooted into a bootloop. I revised the script to set permissions properly, but then it just fails updating. Sighs.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I made a few different attempts at system images but all cause bootloops. I may have to try re-doing the deodex part again, but I used my own zip and script as well as one generated by ArchiKitchen and all caused bootloops, so it's probably my deodex files failing. Will try again when I have more free time.

Did you ever get your deodexed rom to work, or did you give up on that after getting the one posted by @Steel25? I've deodexed mine using the same tool as you, but now I'm stuck on how to get it to install on my device. All of the info that seems to be out there for this pertains to 32 bit roms, and doesn't seem to work on this one. I really appreciate the one provided by @Steel25, but I also really want to accomplish this myself. If someone can help me do this please post or link or PM me. Thank you in advance.

I am currently just using the ROM that @steal25 posted. I tried several things and for whatever reason, I couldn't get it working except for my initial time but that restarted into a bootloop. Archikitchen also doesnt have a deodexer for lollipop, so if there's a some info on what would work let me know.
A lot of things have happened in my personal life that has taken up a lot of my time so I dont have too much time to tinker around with this stuff lately.
I am currently using the one posted by @Steel25 with Xposed using Xtended settings, and everything is working well. My only complaint is that the cores 4-7 can only be clocked to a maximum of 1.5GHZ. However, I am still searching for a way to properly deodex the stock rom and make it installable.

I believe he will be using them on the next update but since I am on his rom as well, let me know which mod version you are using and I will give you the file with the updated images. As in just stock or one of the mods like TEKXodus_URv3.3_N4_No_Traffic_SystemUI_TEKHD or TEKXodus_URv3.3_N4_No_Traffic_No_Clock_SystemUI_TEKHD.
Keep in mind that for the moment they are the stock green and not the themed versions as you see in his rom.

It's still a very new port (basically a beta). I did not have any lag going from the v1 to the v2 but going from a note 4 rom to the s6 port I did, so you could try doing that. An alternate kernel helps too.
I promise we are fully aware of it and are working on it. We're still trying to pinpoint what is causing the lag (as it happens in the launcher & opening apps)... I'm thinking it has to do with the missing x64 files we can't incorporate. Or maybe there's something we're overlooking. Either way we are working on it... but there are ways to reduce it, as I said. It's a beautiful rom and we want to see it grow & improve. I'm sorry I don't have a quick & dirty fix for you buy I hope that helps explain where we are in terms of development.

[SM-T510/T515] Kernel source for 2019 Galaxy Tab A 10.1 posted

Samsung replied to my OSS request today with word that they'd shared kernel source for the 2019 Galaxy Tab A 10.1 [SM-T510/T515].
http://opensource.samsung.com
The version posted is T510XXU1ASC7, which matches the latest OEM firmware available online:
https://samfrew.com/model/SM-T510/
https://samfrew.com/model/SM-T515/
This will unblock my TWRP development and should also enable efforts to build most custom ROMs for the new hardware.

The TWRP and NoKnox builds for SM-T515 are linked in this post, and you're welcome to give them a try. I'll build another test release when we get the next kernel source update.
I bought this tablet recently which is a Korea set but i realized it comes as t515n model. Does anyone know if this twrp will work?
BTW, the T510XXU2ASI4 kernel source was published this week.

I managed to install TWRP on SM-T515 and root it using Magisk Zip. I tried many files but that one worked:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1nIqcIzNHyFiwtm7b_NL_F3X-2LWouL7t
I've also backed up rooted stock using TWRP , but cannot recover it using same app.
I've also tried to install Nexus Stock ROM but failed. I'll try to learn how to compile LineageOS on this device. Any help on compiling it would be appreciated. The missing parts as I understand are:
- some way of doing backups well, so I can recover from them and go "back in time"
- TWRP flashable zip package with Nexus ROM or LineageOS

You can't backup stock using TWRP because the data partition is encrpted. You can format the data partition with TWRP, but you lose EVERYTHING on the partition when you do. Not just things lost when wiping, but all saved stuff like photos, videos etc.
Hi there great to see Samsung development still going on. I had rooted a Samsung tab 2 7.0 long time ago and again have a Samsung tab A 10.1 LTE(T515). I would like to know whether your ROM builds would work with the LTE variant too? With network working too?
