I have successfully loaded kitkat onto an sd card. (sandisk 4gb)
But ...occassionally freezes/boots into stock and is a little slow.
Will my nook hd+ be more stable/quick if i replace my stock?
If so which CM should I go for (10.2.1/10.1.3 or 11) and can anyone recommend a simple guide please?
Bit overwhelmed as a newbie
Thanks in advance

I personally use CM10.1.3 on emmc replacing stock. For me it is very stable and reliable. I have seen no reason to update to other CM versions.
And the best guide is the dummies guide linked in my signature.

Not really. All of the CM10.1 for SD are really old and not stable. CM10.1.3 stable comes only for emmc.

You can try a different launcher -- FWIW I've been using the Nova Launcher.
You can also change the homescreen/lockscreen's wallpaper, move/remove default icons and their placement, etc.

hi everyone,
i have read somewhere on this forum that youtube hd would work with the new cm7 nightly builds and what i need is a signed-youtube.apk. i went on google to try to search for this apk but with no luck, the only one i found did not seem to do the trick.
anyone has got this file that they are willing to share? or am i doing something wrong?
i am currently using cm7 build #14 and cwr 3.0.1.0.
thanks for all the help!!!
Sorry dude but Youtube will dont work due to a miss of drivers in cm7. It's not an apk workaround.
Unless the last nightly fixed it.

I found a solution for my phone, just download youtube.signed apk and install it. After that run your browser > setting > select user agent > linux desktop / android (either one that works). run youtube app and you will get video and sound.
Im running Desire HD, 2.3.3. Cyanogenmod 7.0.3.
Hope this help you.
Nice bringing back a thread way old.
hi, I want to ask some questions to you.
first, I use aokp ROM and I flashed tablet ui.
but when I try to install/uninstall apps, my phone reboots(hot reboot, actually)
I can't find any thread about this.
If you have a free time, try tablet ui(for aokp m5), and try to install apps.
hmm...I can finally write post.
I will upload lewaos.
I have the same problem on my gt-i9001.
Have you flashed a mod made specificaly to your phone?
Try to reinstall the rom, but do not install any extras. Report back if done

Isn't tablet UI is for tablet? If yes, then why did you flash with your phone?

Nop. Tablet UI is a mod to enable the tablet-like interface on the phone.
Search for some screenshots on google. Looks awesome on big screens

Is that safe on SD CM10.1? I never had a boot from SD device before nor have I have I gone through the trouble to do this as ROM Toolbox usually satisfied my transparent status bar needs but that caused a no boot situation for me on the Nook HD.

But I forgot to mention to be wary of slight differences in code between CM10 and CM10.1 when you make the changes. What I meant about being ok, is it ok to decompile and recompile and put back into /system.

Are you using the latest version of Multi-Tool? I found older versions would not work on framework-res.
Sent from my Nook HD running CM10.1 on SD
I got the latest version (I think) of apktool and it seems to go through framework-res fine but I get error messaged when I try to do systemui.
I'll try reinstalling and going through it again
Over the years I've found that just spending a night full of rage and occasional weeping usually ends up fixing my phone/tablet problems.
Gonna be one long night...

To do SystemUI you need to setup framework-res in the setup first. It uses it to help decompile. Read the instructions.

Apktool is the old version of the tool. You need APK-Multi-Toolv1.0.10 or higher. Search the web for it. The old tool bombs out too often on the newer Android versions.

If you then still get this error then you need remove your Google account from device (delete). Reboot. And add same account again. Reboot. Now try PlayStore. With this you dont loose any your information if you before backed up to Google account. If you need i can give complete step by step instruction.

Certainly. Try this, which one noted leapinlar - gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
If still have problems, then i know what to do. Of course, if you attempted google account remove too.

As I thought. Alright thanks a lot, man.
try reflashing google play for android 4.1
its best to get the ones from the gapps wiki
make sure its the one that supports android 4.1 and 4.1.1 and 4.1.2, not the ones that support 4.2 or 4.2.1

Hi.
I am very angry and frustrated with my Nook HD. It's because even though it now has Google Play store some apps ares till not compatible (like Instagram) and the device is somehow "locked" so one cannot install .apk files to it.
Is there a workaround to this without rooting the device? Or is rooting the only way? Is it easy to root as i haven't done it before.
Please advice.
Thank you,
You do not have to root it. Just go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and make a bootable CWM SD and flash my extras zip. It enables unknown sources so that you can install other apks.

Yes, Instagram does need a camera, which is why the app will not work with the Nook, whether you can sideload it or not - the Nook has no camera.
