[Q] Xperia Z1 flash bleed and speaker problems, kinda urgent - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, i have 2 issues with my 2 week old Z1.
One is huge flash bleed i get, and other is that only one of the two bottom speakers is working.
It's easier to show it with pictures.
Flash bleed is obvious, while for the speaker only the one circled in red is working while playing music on it. I doubt it's supposed to be that way right?
Oh, and for the flash bleed, i am not using any screen protectors and there is no cover. Talking about black Z1.
I am wondering should i just give them to fix it or ask for replacement.
Thanks for all the advices you may have.

Flash bleed is someone caused by pre-installed screen protector, someone report they fix that problem with removing it.
Also we have mono speaker, it's just on one side (right one, left one is for microphone and other stuff)

Pre-installed screen protector on the back side? Now i wasn't expected that nor noticed it.
Do you have any ideas on how to remove it?
I will use the case at some point so it won't hurt me being without it.
And thanks for the info on the speakers, that part is solved then

It's hard to get it off, you can notice in corners that there is pre-installed protector.
But be advised, just someone says that flashbleed solve after taking it off, while some of guys told it's same.
So choice is up to you.

write, if something changes after removal of the film.

My ASF on the back is long gone, I have terrible flash bleed though.
I noticed today that my back glass has come off around the camera and that the flash bleed disappears if I press the back into place.

I hope my flash bleed due to the screen protector, check when the next replacement come.

I ordered a set of screen protectors from the US. Unfortunately it will take at least 2 weeks for it to get to my country.
I will post an update once i get it and do the removal/switch of the back one.
In the mean time i found a possible solution that might work on xperia Z1 as well.
And that is to take black permanent marker and paint that white metallic circle going around the lenses.
(For the first try i think i will just use standard removable marker, and do it with permanent if it works)
Since marker is possible to remove and less invasive then removing of SP i will try that first.
Will post an update in a few days how this went.

Update:
The shipment of my screen protectors got lost on the way somewhere, well at least I got a refund.
By the time I ordered new one, this time going with Tempered Glass.
As far as the flash bleed is concerned, problem now comes and go, still can't determine the pattern as to when it happens.
Seems like camera likes some angles better then the others.

This should be interesting to test a bit.

Slight Crack in Phone. Fix It or No?

So I've done a little research on pricing, found out to have my screen replaced by HTC it's $115. I asked about having an indy shop do it instead but they informed that doing so would void the warranty. How would they know? Apparently the screws in the back have paint on them and they know if the phone has been tampered with.
Anyways, the crack in my screen is about an inch long. It starts on the left right where the bottom of the taskbar is. It then runs up to right under the earphone speaker. The phone works just fine and you can barley see the crack.
My question, is it dangerous to the phone to not have it repaired? The crack can't "run" any more, so I can't quite make up my mind. Let me know what you all think.
Thanks.

Anyway is this supposed to be in the right forum? Still I'd say fix it. I personally can't stand my screen to have a scratch.
If it's a scratch, meh
If it's an actual crack, 100% DEFINITELY replace it. Your entire screen's strength has been compromised. Who knows when the next pressure put on it in the wrong place or accidental drop could cause the whole screen to crack since it is weaker now.
I would go for the replacement.
Replacement screens/glass on ebay yet?
Don't get it fixed unless it becomes unusable or unless it bothers you. If it doesn't bother you then why spend $115 to fix it. Fix it when it actual causes problems using it and by the time that happens the price to fix it might drop.

If the crack runs from one side to another, then your glass is already in two pieces. The touch digitizer is the only thing holding it together. The worst that can happen is you push in the screen and the glass cuts through the digitizer and scratches the OLED underneath. That being said, I've seen a number of people use iPhones with cracked screens for months without any trouble and I've never seen the digitizer give way.
I agree with KingLouis3: Use it 'til it annoys you or breaks.
Thanks for the responses. Pokey, I think my concerns were along the lines of what you said with the OLEDs. It is somewhat difficult to explain where the location sorry some of you are grammar professors apparently.
Either way, I do I'll end up just holding up to get it worked on for the time being. I'll see how long it goes until any issues arise. Here's a picture by the way, see if you can see what I'm talking about here.

problem with back cover

Hello. i have got my ace for about 3 weeks. Last week i ve noticed that my black back panel of phone is not good adhering in one corner and it makes not very comfortable sound if i push it softly with my hand in some situations. it is mostly noticible when i hold the phone in one hand. i m not aware that i wasn t careful when i put off and put on the cover. Is this thing under my warranty?
Is this thing under my warranty?
It would make sense if it was since even the backpanel is a part of the actual phone itself.
I experienced some creak-sound after accidently dropping the phone, so if it occurred after dropping the phone, technically you shouldnt get any compensation but you could just tell 'em that it was like that from the start.
Thanks, i will see my seller. I hope they will change it, because this really wasn't my fault.
So answer of customer centre was, that they will send the phone somewhere and if it is only back cover problem it will be replaced soon. but i don t get why they need tho whole phone in this case. I don t know if it is worth trying if i can have my phone back in one week but also in one month. Especially when i have also second white cover.
Not worth the whole process. What they will do with the phone is to check where to problem dwells. It might be that the phone got cracked/damaged, or it might simply be the backcover that got damaged somewhere.
Either way you'll end up wasting time.
If you check out this thread ull find a link to buy a new cover from ebay (only 6$), there is a black one for sale as well from the same seller, bought 1 black and 1 white from the seller, 100% satisfied with the covers.
But since you have a 2nd one already, if you dont mind it being white, just use it!
Wasn't there two back panels in your package? If so, try on the other cover.

Not all markets included the white backpanel.
yes i used white panel, but i like the black one more. my seller sent me to samsung service centre if i want to try repair/change quicker. however i was told there that the stuff like this and under warranty have to be sent with whole phone. so i asked how much cost the new black panel. it is 3 euros and some cents. i think it is good price so i have ordered one.
i only had one backpanel by my ace

[Q] An Idea to make your phone yours.

Hello all,
Now this is a very simple question.
Since the Sony Xperia Z has a glass back would it be possible to engrave a picture onto the back part of the phone?.

There are some stickers available for the back of the XZ. That's about it right now.
There are also some sites that let create your own sticker, but I forgot them, so can't really see if the XZ is available on those.
Edit: I meant a site like this
https://imageware.co/
Only supports myPhone and Samsung phones...

There are etching solutions that you brush on and create a froted glass like effect which you can actually feel. This does damage the glass so it's not recommended. What might be an idea, is to buy a spigen tempered glass protector and use the solution on that.
no guarantee it will work, and im not responsible for any damage, but this is the idea

Of course it would be, but it will cost you a lot of money since it is very hard glass (hard to engrave), jeopardise the strength of the rear glass and void your warranty
Watch the video and understand the concept of tempered glass.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FJUD5WB_ko&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Basically when you engrave something in the glass it will lose most of it's (strength). So I don't advice you to do so. Aluminium and plastic are a totally different story and wouldn't be as affected as the tempered glass when doing things like engraving.
Stickers as someone above me mentioned seems like the best option.

Once glass is tempered it can't be drilled or cut so engraving is out of the question I'd say.
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
U can drill it with a very low drilling speed and feed, or it will break like normal glass.
But this will dramatically reduce back glass durability.
If I still have access to that cnc machine, I would be able to make my own back panel.
Sent from my C6602 using xda app-developers app
Sorry for the late response I've been busy. Thanks for the ideas I think I'm going to go with getting a clear plastic case and engrave that. I could probably do some sick effects going that route as well.

[Q] Screen ripples on left side of Xperia Z screen

I am in the UK and I have a Sony Xperia Z. I have upgraded the firmware to the latest version last week. I am with Vodafone on a Pay Monthly Contract.
I have noticed that there is a screen ripple on the left hand side and particularly a spot on the bottom left of the Xperia Z's screen when the left hand side is squeezed. This is particularly noticeable on a white background like when on the Contacts screen. This ripple also happens when the back of the phone is pressed.
This ripple is not too much of a problem but can be noticed at times as my phone has a case on it and I have to squeeze moderately on the sides to adjust the volume button. Also I am a little concerning that the ripple effect might be causing some sort of long term damage to the phone.
I have contacted Sony about this they have offered to look at the phone but they did not say whether this is an inherent problem with the phone or if it could be fixed. I am not particularly happy about sending the phone away to them as I am not sure about how much they can do to repair it.
In the meantime I walked into a Vodafone shop and tried another Xperia Z and it had exactly the same problems with ripples on the screen as mine! So perhaps it is an expected part of the very thin design of the Xperia Z phone. I have also noted the other short thread on this forum about this issue which suggest some other users are experiencing this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2194018
What do other Xperia Z owners think? Do you experience these screen ripples and are they to be expected
Del
Even m having the same issue left and right side.both only when I pressed it tightly. Otherwise all good....they told itz bcz of thin design nothing to worry.....

Thanks for your reply. Yes I thought the screen ripples might be because of the very thin design.
Its a shame Sony did not say something like this when I emailed them about this issue. They just said one of their engineers needed to look at the phone. I am reluctant to send it away to Sony as I don't think they can do anything about it as it appears to be an inherent part of the design.
It may be best for me to live with the slight problem.
i got it too i thought it's a problem with my device
I just squeezed the crap out of my phone and nothing happened. Tried it out of my case too.
maybe its only on sharp screens

I have just checked my display manufactuer and it looks like it is JDC! Interesting suggestion that the reaction of the phone might be different depending on the maker of the display.
On mine the display ripples on the left hand side are present in the middle left hand side of the screen as well as the bottom. They are not present on the right hand side.

It wouldn't spread unless you apply a lot of pressure. If you press down too hard it'll break more.

Buy Digitalizer and LCD Display from here
http://www.ebay.de/itm/151615938934...49&var=450825180259&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
I bought the display + frame assembly from here:http://www.aliexpress.com/item/LCD-...ria-Z-L36h-C6603-LT36-display/1449119790.html
I was skeptic at the start, but the screen is actually darn good.
26$,arrived in only 8 days(even though it said it would take from 15 to 30 days),my phone looks brand new and the screen is nice for the price(the colors are a bit duller than the original screen, but the viewing angles are epic, almost like an IPS screen). xD
I was ready to sacrifice 10% of the color reproduction on my screen instead of paying 3x more for an original one(yeah,a new screen and frame assembly in my country costs no less than 100 $ )
Buy a new phone. Xperia Z is a piece of ****. I cracked my screen twice. The second time you can't even see the crack unless holding it on an angle under a certain light. I see iPhones all the time, MISSING part of the front glass and still working. I bought my mum a Xperia Z Ultra and that broke two in one small drop. Count it a win and change manufacturer.
