Hello all,
Now this is a very simple question.
Since the Sony Xperia Z has a glass back would it be possible to engrave a picture onto the back part of the phone?.

There are some stickers available for the back of the XZ. That's about it right now.
There are also some sites that let create your own sticker, but I forgot them, so can't really see if the XZ is available on those.
Edit: I meant a site like this
https://imageware.co/
Only supports myPhone and Samsung phones...

There are etching solutions that you brush on and create a froted glass like effect which you can actually feel. This does damage the glass so it's not recommended. What might be an idea, is to buy a spigen tempered glass protector and use the solution on that.
no guarantee it will work, and im not responsible for any damage, but this is the idea

Of course it would be, but it will cost you a lot of money since it is very hard glass (hard to engrave), jeopardise the strength of the rear glass and void your warranty
Watch the video and understand the concept of tempered glass.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FJUD5WB_ko&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Basically when you engrave something in the glass it will lose most of it's (strength). So I don't advice you to do so. Aluminium and plastic are a totally different story and wouldn't be as affected as the tempered glass when doing things like engraving.
Stickers as someone above me mentioned seems like the best option.

Once glass is tempered it can't be drilled or cut so engraving is out of the question I'd say.
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
U can drill it with a very low drilling speed and feed, or it will break like normal glass.
But this will dramatically reduce back glass durability.
If I still have access to that cnc machine, I would be able to make my own back panel.

Sorry for the late response I've been busy. Thanks for the ideas I think I'm going to go with getting a clear plastic case and engrave that. I could probably do some sick effects going that route as well.

hi im new here... i just wanna ask if samsung galaxy mini really needs a screen guard or the screen can survive without it??
Mine has no single scratch though my phone falled from me several times, but absolutely it is better to use one.
It's not that hard to scratch it with e.g. keys, so it's better to get some screen guard IMO
thanks a lot
ill browse around the forums for a while..
thanks.
It can live without it but I also recommend to use one I'm currently using that no-fingerprint, anti-glare ones and they're pretty cool. I'm too lazy to put the phone to the leather bag case so I decided to combine the screen protector and the silicone case. Now the phone and screen are protected and it's easier to pick up a call when I have only one free hand at the moment..

yes bro get Protector as soon as possible, Its screen is not scratchless. I did a some mistake and now my mini got scratches
I gone to a mobile shop, there I asked for screen protector.
He applied and I was back home playing with mini as usual. But I noticed some peeling on the top left corner.
My friend tried to remove the protector and he removed completely without any pressure.
Then analysing the shape of the protector I find that it had cutted through scissors which was not original(it was made by some other company)
So I ask that should I opt for silicon protector or which some other one.

Suggest private screen guard
Mine just fine maybe u got no luck hehe. Why dont u claim for the new one from the shop? I suggest to use private screen guard and i love it because only you can see your screen, if there is someone looking your phone from beside they wont see any.
hi
with screen guard it better
you should ask first, what kind of protector they gonna give you and what it looks like.
for me, I'm using capdase anti-glare. not really great performances, but it's better than nothing.
better to use one

does anyone have an exact size and shape for the screen of Galaxy Mini?
i want to use mirrorized screen protector but i can only find 5" cut-it-yourself ones. and nothing for the mini itself.
i would like a guide for a perfectly accurate shape.
thanks!!
yes, its need.

I totally agree with you at least I know if I wanted to resell my tl I won't have to worry about describing a scratched screen.
i toyed with the idea of removing mine, but after seeing how the glass is hard to clean after I might leave it on.. stupidly the only scratches mine has endured so far are where i have failed to get the charger in the hole and it has slipped onto the screen. there may have been alcohol involved.

yes xperia Z use Dragontrail glass
I have the Xperia V, but I know that mine also has a screenprotector on it, but I cannot understand why anyone would remove it.
I have also added the Copter protection ontop.
It feels nice, allmost like glass. It also it sensitive like it would be without any protection.

R: Sony Xperia T have pre-Shatterproof screen protector (vid)
I removed the screen protector because it generates too much friction with my thumb. I had to be literally oil-fingered to use it comfortably.
The bare screen is better, letting the oil film form and my thumbs slip better.
Furthermore, no more dust collecting between it and the screen edge.
Having previously had iPhones, and knowing a friend with the Galaxy S2, I didn't even expect the Xperia T to have a screen protector, so I'd ordered my own before I even had the phone.
It wasn't until snooping around XDA forums I found out, after I'd already put one on.
Point being, even if the "stock" protector can scratch, it turns out I have a second protector on top anyway. There is no issues of sensitivity.
I removed mine
I think the shatter-proof thing is tacky, and I am very careful with my phones. I'd rather feel the glass that I paid all that money for! I don't mind breathing on my phone and rubbing it on my shirt every so often.
Take it off, it's nice!
glass screen of XZ really fragile?

Nooooo. Not this **** again. It's only the shatterproof shield (screenprotector) that is damaged. If you remove them, your phone should be as new. If you searched the forum you would already know this

glass screen XZ easily broken.
I'm looking to buy an XZ. I view on the forums, I see like that.
Do yourself and us all a favour and buy something else.
My phone has survived multiple drops, sometimes even on uneven concrete surfaces.
While the polycarbonate shell does take a beating, the glass has never so much as scratched.
These are 3-4 foot accidental drops though. If you intend to throw your phone around, it probably wont last long.
Also, you should put a screen protector over the shatter proof film or remove the film completely, because shatter proof film is prone to scratches.
In conclusion, I suggest that you get a case and a screen protector should you choose to purchase this phone.
I'd recommend this case that comes with a screen protector for the front.
1st pic
sheet... the speaker hole is totally bent, no way it is subjected to light abuse before break
the rest of the pic
this is still glass
I dunno what is the claim of gorilla glass/dragontail
but i remember that the point of the ion-exchange type glass is to make a stronger against scratches glass
as for the strength, some did say that with the better glass, they ae able to use a thinner piece of glass
(lower weight, and/or cost)
so the end result is still the same
glass is glass, and it will break rather than dent
just the right(or wrong) pressure at the right angle
and the glass will break deeply
Hi guys, i have 2 issues with my 2 week old Z1.
One is huge flash bleed i get, and other is that only one of the two bottom speakers is working.
It's easier to show it with pictures.
Flash bleed is obvious, while for the speaker only the one circled in red is working while playing music on it. I doubt it's supposed to be that way right?
Oh, and for the flash bleed, i am not using any screen protectors and there is no cover. Talking about black Z1.
I am wondering should i just give them to fix it or ask for replacement.
Thanks for all the advices you may have.

Flash bleed is someone caused by pre-installed screen protector, someone report they fix that problem with removing it.
Also we have mono speaker, it's just on one side (right one, left one is for microphone and other stuff)

Pre-installed screen protector on the back side? Now i wasn't expected that nor noticed it.
Do you have any ideas on how to remove it?
I will use the case at some point so it won't hurt me being without it.
And thanks for the info on the speakers, that part is solved then
It's hard to get it off, you can notice in corners that there is pre-installed protector.
But be advised, just someone says that flashbleed solve after taking it off, while some of guys told it's same.
So choice is up to you.

write, if something changes after removal of the film.
My ASF on the back is long gone, I have terrible flash bleed though.
I noticed today that my back glass has come off around the camera and that the flash bleed disappears if I press the back into place.
I hope my flash bleed due to the screen protector, check when the next replacement come.
I ordered a set of screen protectors from the US. Unfortunately it will take at least 2 weeks for it to get to my country.
I will post an update once i get it and do the removal/switch of the back one.
In the mean time i found a possible solution that might work on xperia Z1 as well.
And that is to take black permanent marker and paint that white metallic circle going around the lenses.
(For the first try i think i will just use standard removable marker, and do it with permanent if it works)
Since marker is possible to remove and less invasive then removing of SP i will try that first.
Will post an update in a few days how this went.
Update:
The shipment of my screen protectors got lost on the way somewhere, well at least I got a refund.
By the time I ordered new one, this time going with Tempered Glass.
As far as the flash bleed is concerned, problem now comes and go, still can't determine the pattern as to when it happens.
Seems like camera likes some angles better then the others.
This should be interesting to test a bit.

I got a xtremeguard one. For the price I can't complain about the transparency and also add a lot of grip to the back if you are going to run case-less.
I can upload pictures if you want!
also currently the got a coupon code for 90% off too! 90off1
if you can post pictures, I would appreciate!
Thx

I haven't tried Xtremeguard but I installed slickwraps on my gf's phone and it's a really good quality. it's a dry install and you have to have a LOT of patience with it. I have a skinomi on mine under my case and I'd have to say the SW is on par with quality, maybe even better of a cut fit and it doesn't have the orange peel feeling like the skinomi does. It has full coverage and they provide both top and bottom front plate cover and a whole front cover whichever you prefer. It has top and bottom coverings as well. Her phone is prone to riding in my gf's purse and so far only a couple of unnoticeable nicks, no tears. She did drop it once and the skin didn't scratch. Though I now make her put it in a case, the skin remains on for front and button coverage. The only issue I had with the whole front cover was the side bezel covers tend to stretch when you're applying it so you have to trim a bit to get them to lay flat. Also slickwraps has a 35% off coupon + free shipping today only (or so says their ad) the code is luvsw if you're interested.
I ended up buying Xtremeguard, because of the price difference. However the Xtremeguard does not protect the top or bottom =/
Thank you both!
I have bestskinever. Pretty good for the price. They do protect the side, top and bottom of the device.

Sure. Here is some pic I taken with my tablet. Too bad I don't have any better camera. The top portion where the power button is located. That sp is not from bestskinever. Its from skinomi. I would suggest you to get skinomi if you were looking for more durability. As the film on the skinomi feels much thicker than the bestskinever. If budget is wat you are looking for. Bestskinever would be it.
