Hello there
I ordered a 32GB HTC One which is coming in about an hour and since I had a HTC One X before, I know that installing ROMs and such isn't as easy as it is on my Samsung Galaxy SIII. I am pretty sure the CID of my HTC One is going to be HTC__J15 like the One X (since that's for the whole Middle East) and so I was wondering what the latest JellyBean is for my device? Is it 4.1.2 or 4.2.2? And speaking of which, I found this website posted on this forum:
http://bugsylawson.com/files/category/49-m7/
But unfortunately I don't understand that codes affiliated with regions and such and any help would be much appreciated.
The phone I ordered is slightly used, only for 4 days, and with local warranty but I would like to install (or re-install if there's no newer JellyBean) the software so I can set it up as a new phone, and I am guessing that's done using the RUU, correct? And if so, which one should I use? I would like to completely format the device and set it up from the start.
And one final thing, would someone be able to link me to an easy rooting guide? And do I get the unlock token using HTC's developer section of the website and use fastboot like I did with HTC One X?
Thank you so much, I really appreciate your time.

First of all I would just do a factory reset, assuming it is a factory default rom, and then leave it for a week or two to get used to it before going down the route of unlocking etc. Read through the One forums to learn all you can before customising.
There is a good guide here for unlocking, rooting, etc manually http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265618
A useful All-in-One toolkit to guide you through the process here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183942
Look through the One Android Development forum and you will find several custom Roms available which would be suitable for the International Version of the One http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2119
You will need a custom rom as once rooted and unlocked you won't be able to use an RUU nor will you be able to get HTC or carrier OTA updates.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. I am going to use the phone as it is for a while and see how things work out. I would really like to install the bulletproof kernel which enables the HTC logo as a capacitive button because I am not liking the idea of the two buttons - I am just too used to having three.
The One is as easy to root and ROM as any other device. You DO NOT need to be concerned with the CID or RUU if you download Mikes stock 4.2.2 ROM. Its dead stock (with the option to root) and works without needing to change the CID or flash an RUU

Yeah I have used Android Revolution HD on several devices before and it is the perfect ROM. I already unlocked the bootloader and am in the process of installing recovery as well as downloading and installing ARHD. I was able to locate the Bulletproof kernel which enables the HTC logo as a menu button and it seems like the installation is done from recovery, very simple, is that really the case or is there more to it?
Here's the link for reference: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2233665
Thanks

Its easy to flash the kernel but beware as these kernels are not based on the newest or even second newest source so it will decrease performance slightly when you compare apples to apples

Hi,
I need to return my htc one to ee because I think it has a faulty speaker. I have been looking at the various methods to return to stock and have and have managed, using revone to s-off the device.
I am completely confused as to how to proceed now. Is there a specific ruu/rom that I need to flash for uk ee?
I have root and Android revolution 10.0 installed and a custom recovery.
One last point, will I always have the ugly htc unlock message on boot or can this be solved also if I am s-off.
thanks in advance
Hi Guys,
I rooted my HTC One previously but I wanted to update my phones android software so I can't much remember what I did, but
I tried to unroot it to get back to stock but I don't think I did this successfully.
My HTC One android version is 4.2.2
HTC Sense version is 5.0
am i right in thinking there are more up to date versions on the three UK network for my HTC ONE? But every time
i click check for software updates on my phone there aren't any that appear??
I'm really new to this, thank god i didn't brick my phone when i first rooted it, if i could i'd love to get
back to stock but I tried with no success, i really want to have an updated phone without having to
mess around with it anymore.
I believe i have attached an image more more information such as my baseband and kernel version.
could someone please give me step by step instructions on how to go back to stock so i can receive
updates without these issues. Thanks in advance guys
Kind regards
you cannot get updates with unlocked bootloader

If I was you I would look to s-off your device, that way you can always have the latest rom version from XDA you can sometimes wait a long time for Networks to release the latest version to update over the air.
There are some very nice stock roms out there but if you don't wait to take the risk you need to unroot, restore stock recovery and relock your device I believe.
If you had made a nandroid backup before rooting you could have restored to the nandroid stock rom and simply restored the recovery and relocked.
I've had the HTC One since January and would now like to root it. Whats the easiest and current way to go about doing this? Thanks.
Unlock, custom recovery, flash root.
How many ways are there?

if you upgraded to 4.4.2 (sense 6.0) recently, as far as I know there isn't a root method out right now because the other day I tried a bunch of older ways with no luck. I was using weaksauce before but since I upgraded I haven't been able to achieve a root. If anyone knows a way please post.
There: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40946925
1. Bootloader unlock at htcdev.
2. Flash custom recovery in fastboot.
3. Copy rooted rom to phone, flash in recovery.
There are guides for all of this available various places if you search.

So, firstly, this is my first time ever posting here, in fact I just registered 5 minutes ago.
I recently bought a HTC Desire 626g Dual Sim (NOT 626g+) and I'm getting very tired of android 4.4 and am very interested in either rooting or getting a custom ROM on my phone.
The problem is that I haven't found any reliable way to root my phone or any custom ROMs for my particular make and model.
Second problem is that I have never rooted or flashed a custom ROM onto an android device before, even though this is my third android phone.
So that's it, I'm interested in either rooting or getting a custom ROM, but I don't know where to even begin this endeavour. So if anyone can help me or even point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.
Phone specs:
Android 4.4.2
Android security path level (if this is of any help): 2015-11-01
HTC Sense version 5.3
Kernel version 3.4.67
If there is anything else I need to provide in order to recieve some help, please let me know.
Thanks

Hey man if you are simply looking to root try KingRoot, it worked on my friends HTC Desire 626. Dont think its available in PlayStore so just go to their web and download the apk file.

You would probably need to unlock your bootloader and pay sunshine $30 to make your device s-off so you can change your make and model (cid #) to a HTC desire 626s. Flash one of T-Mobile or Sprint RUU and update your software firmware.
I never had an s-off device so be cautious and do research before you blame me for a bricked device.
