I think this started happening when i updated from Android 4.4.2 to 4.4.4... Hopefully someone can help me out...
On my external SD card, directories and files that used to have accents in them (i'm french speaking, so alot of à, é, è, etc) are now unusable and have asian characters in them instead of accents.
Directories with accents are no longer seen as directories but as 0byte files.
See screenshot for exemple.
Could i edit a file somewhere so that my FS is mounted with UTF8 encoding or something else (i could try different encoding) ?
And as a second question, could this update have changed the way the FS is mounted? Because i remember listening to some of those audio-books in directories with accents, in the past, before they turned into unsusable asian-char 0 byte files

Interesting discovery:
/mnt/media_rw/sdcard1 is mounted differently and all the directories are seen as directory but their names end up where the accents is and i cant get into the directories themselve.
Another interesting find....
If i unmount (from Settings > Storage) my SDCard and remount it, then it's fine, i get my accents back and i can open the directories and use the files in em.
If i look at the output from mount, before and after
Before
Code:
/dev/block/vold/179:65 /mnt/media_rw/sdcard1 vfat rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime,fmask=0000,dmask=0000,allow_utime=0022,codepage=cp437,iocharset=iso8859-1,shortname=mixed,errors=remount-ro 0 0
After
Code:
/dev/block/vold/179:65 /mnt/media_rw/sdcard1 vfat rw,dirsync,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime,uid=1023,gid=1023,fmask=0007,dmask=0007,allow_utime=0020,codepage=cp437,iocharset=iso8859-1,shortname=mixed,utf8,errors=remount-ro 0 0
Think i should file a bug with Sony about Filesystem not mounting "properly" on boot but remounting properly on unmount/remount ?

Hi guys, i have a CDMA Diamond and tried android. It does not work for me. I try every release, but nothing works. I have followed a lot of tutorials too.
THIS IS WHAT I DO, AM I MISSING SOMETHING?
1) I put all my personal files in a folder in the 4gb internal storage
2) Then i download the latest build of Android, from XDA
3) I put all the files from the zip into root of internal storage
4) I then put the startup config.(for me it is in the Diam500 directory) in the root of internal storage.
5) Next I run haret.exe
6) a notification comes up and says "Booting Linux"
7) then a blackscreen comes up with a lot of white writing, and it moves up.
8) NOW this runs for a long time, once i let it run for ONE and a half HOUR
9) Later like after a lot of minutes it does not move a lot, it moves about every 5 mins.
10) The above steps is exactly what i do if i am missing something, please let me know, i'll try to give you a reward, like a download. Im only 13 and have no credit card so i cant give money.
THANKS
ok ....first extract androidapps, conf, media, initrd.gz, haret, rootfs.img, and system.sqsh from the latest xdandroid package to the root of your internal storage....then download the latest kernel from here . extract the three files to the root of the internal storage....

sorry you need 500 Mb
Hi, I made a little tutorial of how you can get a sick score with your Optimus Black
And this should work with every device.
PS. You need to have Quadrant Advanced/Standard, there is different commands for each.
PS. 2 This is only temporary, so after you reboot you have to do this again if you want.
1. Root your phone.
2. Get Terminal Emulator from the market.
3. Write the following in Terminal Emulator:
su
mount -t tmpfs tmpfs /data/data/com.aurorasoftworks.quadrant.ui.advanced
4. Try quadrant!
For Standard, same for Advanced, just enter this instead:
su
mount -t tmpfs tmpfs /data/data/com.aurorasoftworks.quadrant.ui.standard
I have installed the Nova ROM so mine gets a little bit higher, you can find it in the dev. section.

first of all, the command is the same for quadrant advance and standard, second of all when i write this one it says no such file or directories ...... and yes I have quadrant.
did you write "su" first? ohh, I'm sorry lol.. my fault, I'm a bit noob so please excuse that.
i sure did write su but when I open data folder with file explorer the directory is empty so....
I don't even find any data folder lol. Try again, if you have the standard edition I updated the command
i had already tried both versions of command since I figured it out that for standard it ends with .standard...same thing no such file or directory
this should work now...
Anyone else having issues with this?
it's working great with my OB.
any chance to have it permanent (e.g. fire on launch?!!).
thanks
edit:
scored 2442
am using ver. V11b

So my question is...do I have a duplicate basically of my storage taking up stuff or am I just really stupid? Cuz in sdcard/dl I see everything and in 0/emulated storage I see everything.
Thanks in advance

Yes, 0 and DL are the same directory, so if you delete anything from 0 it will be deleted from DL, and vice versa. I am not sure what is taking so much space on your device, but have you checked the media folder where the 0 folder is? If there are other files inside the media folder, delete them. I'd recommend a full wipe of the device and reinstallation of ROM if you are not able to pin-point exactly what is using so much space.

I looked under storage and "other" is taking 8.55 gb is that normal?
Yes. Mine is taking 9 gb. It's basically system files and such.

I'm facing a problem with my storage space. Using the app "Disk Usage" I've found the following:

This enormous amount of memory used for "system data" isn't explicable. And I'm not been able to find a folder with a content to delete (of course I do have root access)
My first attempt was to delete a TWRP backup, whit actually worked, in part, since the original size of this partition was more than 14gb!
But I'm not finding the origins of the rest.
Somebody have already experienced it?
What could be the solution?
Same here. I don't know what is system data, I suspect some hidden files/folders, ex. thumbnails for gallery.
What size phone do you have? My 16gb has 5.8gb of system data, only 10.2gb available.

We're talking about sdcard storage as you can see in screenshot above.
Oops
I'm thinking that it maybe related with this:
I'm having a similar issue, except my system data is showing 16728MB, more than double the OP. I never had any storage issue before the latest 5.1 update so I thought maybe it was some temp files from the update so I cleared the /cache partition but that didn't help at all. Anyone else seeing excessively large system size?
Hi everyone,
few days ago i decided to flash custom ROM instead of my stock 4.1.1 android to my Smasung Galaxy S3 LTE. Everything seems to be fine but when i wanted to make backup through CWM it did it but to the last cwm folder in storage/emulated and then i couldn't make recovery from it. The path of my actual place where is the data is storage/emulated/0. I don't know why the old files are saved in storage/emulated, i can't see them in my windows. Only root browser can show them. Can i delete them? Or can i just change my new storage/emulated/0 path to the old one and use my old apps with new ROM? This is very annyoing problem cus i've got ~16 gb Samsung, and windows shows that there is only 11 gb available and a lot of this space is coverd by files i can't even see. How can i fix it?

thanks for help,

check if you have important files there, i get this when use dual boot or change different kernel or cwm - better use twrp hehe
open folder /data/media/0 and replace
first copy all form /sdcard (phone memory) to computer -not sdcard1
