Finally got my XZ. I was wondering if there are any suggestion/tips worth following, and if flashing on a LB is worth it? Also I noticed that the softkeys are taking too much space, so is there's a way to narrow it down so that the screen can be maximized?

everything you need first
For the softkeys.
You need ROOT (use towelroot) and Xposed installer
Install Xposed installer
Open it
Go to framework Click install/update
Grant the root access
The device will reboot now
Download @serajr Xperia Xposed
THAT if you running Android jellybean (4.3/4.2.2) and THAT if you running Kitkat (4.4.2)
Now install it
Open Xposed Installer again
Go to modules
Tick Xperia Xposed
Click on Xperia Xposed icon in modules or app drawer
Go to System UI
Click on Portrait size and Landscape size to change it's size
Default is 48p
REBOOT AND SEE!
PSSST!. don't mess with Xposed installer a lot only if you know what you doing
Enjoy and don't forget to hit thanks!!!

You forgot one important thing, after rooting with towelroot he should install supersu. Otherwise every app will have root access....

Besides that, please do not post questions in the general section - use q&a instead and please use the search function before opening up new threads. Most of the things have been asked before
Wow, can't believe you bought this phone. So many better options for the price and specs.
1st tip: Never be afraid to drop it in water, this phone is really waterproof.

Our phone(Xperia Z) is Water Resistant not Waterproof.
Put on a screen protector front and back or front with a case covering the back . The antishatter film scratches easily.

Xposed Framework is compatibile with almost all rooted Androids devices from 4.1 onwards, however not all modules will be compatible with all phones - many are specifically for HTC or Samsung frameworks, and there are some specifically for Xperia's.
Xposed Framework does nothing on it's own, it simply allows for loading of Modules (most of which you can download from within the App itself), which in turn can customise virtually anything on the phone. Many are for notification/status/menu bar though yes.
One tip though: try (and configure) modules one at a time, activating multiple in one reboot is a good way to bootloop your device.
I'm using a rooted dual-recovery 14.1.G.2.257 Z1 with about 20 modules and everything is working great!

No, there is no factory recovery in Sony phones. You have to root and install a recovery

I have just installed the rom [JB 4.3][UB&LB][9.2.A.0.295] Official Firmware - Rooted&Deodexed from the DaRk-L0rD
Im enjoying 4.3 there are just a few simple mods I used to have on my old rom I would like to know if they can work on 4.3
Mods:
1. Close all button on open apps
2. Additional sound setting for all volumes when you press the volume key, someone did a great mod that gave me all volumes when I pressed the setting key after volume up
3.Remove the mobile data is off notification everytime the phone starts or you turn the mobile data off
4. De-bloat zip I can run in CWM to remove all the bloatware, much easier than doing it all manually with a root app removed
5. Shrink the bottom navigation bar that has the home, back button and recent apps buttons on, I had got used to it being around 70%of that size!
Are any of those 5 available?
Pleased to see Sony seem to have fixed the Bluetooth volume problems they used to have I had replace some file to fix, I also replace the wifi driver which made a big difference to how far I could stay connected to the wifi at work, does the new rom need any tweaks like that or is the wifi strength good out the box?
Thank You
Use xposed framework (you must use xperia dedicated) with Gravity Box installed to get 1, 2 and 3. Or use Xperia Xposed along with Gravity Box to get awesome possibilities
My phone is T. Xperia T.

Thank You, but you may as well have spoken French to me then, any chance you can possibly send me a few links to topics I should read that will help me understand what xposed frame, xperia xposed and gravity box are?
Thank You
I understand That was my first thought too.
Here are the links:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401 link to Xposed Framework thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48484642 link to a post with Xperia dedicated xposed framework app
After installing the app you must inject appropriate files (use first step inside the app) then reboot the phone and you can proceed to the next step - downloading the modules:
Gravity Box and Xperia Xposed can be downloaded directly from the Xposed Framework app in download section. After downloading and installing both you must enable them in "modules" section and reboot the phone. Then you can start modding the phone
Some of the mods require rebooting the phone but some of them applies instantly. I have modded almost everything in my phone - from the very top to the very bottom (literally from the status bar to the navbar )
Good luck!

Consider Android Tuner. To my opinion it makes a script dispensable, bcs it allows selecting all apps to remove in one go.

Thanks Peter Ill check it out now.
Also has anyone got any ideas what the best way to remove the "mobile data is disabled" notification?
I have tried using the ongoing notification blocker in GravityBox to block the OMA Client Provisioning which is what I thought would block it. But unfortunately is makes no difference
Thanks
Just received my brand new Z3,but already feeling the itch for some customization.
Someone already tried playing around with xposed?
It is fully working or at least some features?
Thanks
After rooting/bootloader unlocking the phone, I installed Xposed. It works well. I use the following:
App Settings - I made systemUI (and most of my non-sony apps) 240 dpi.
GravityBox (smaller nav bar, orange icons, replacement battery, AM/PM removal, 3 dot on nav bar right, search on nav bar left.
Tinted Status bar
Xperia Xposed - installed but I decided not to use anything
Please note, per conversations on general, unlocking the bootloader will irreversibly worsen the camera's low-light picture quality and kill native miracasting/chromecasting ability linked to Sony's DRM keys
I'm using tons of Xposed modules and I couldn't live without it. It's one of the greatest pieces of software ever written and I'll stay away from Android L until Xposed works on it. i never felt the urge to use CM or another rom since I'm using Xposed, GravityBox alone is such a mighty module that it replaces a plethora of third party rom features.
It's really hard to live without Xposed after having it for so long on my Moto X. I'm just not willing to lose the camera quality by unlocking the BL. Of course, there are other things I'm itching to do as well with root (like freezing and deleting lots of useless apps that suck battery!)
I am using xposed with
- xstana module
- tinted status bar
- gravity box
Everything works perfectly!

I don't mind losing some of the camera quality either, I believe that people will either find a way to reverse the process, or make something better.
I'm just waiting till I can backup my TA partition.

So no way in hell to get root without unlocking the bootloader?
i was using pie controls from gravitybox with navbar disabled, but i found out that pie doesn't appear when using camera with physical button with phone in standby.... anyone can confirm this?
I use XBlast and Xposed LED Control.
Both works fine. What does NOT work is GravityBox. But why? Can someone help me?
When trying to start it, it says "GravityBox System Framework does not answer" in german. in english perhaps its something like "cant retrieve System Framework data" or something like that.
It doesn matter how often i try, always the same error message

You need to enable it in Module and restart phone. After that you can do what you want! In Download section, you can find more module with search filter by typing: xperia

I think gravity Box can not handle sonys ui. Had it before on lg g2 stock rom. Just some features worked. Keep in mind that gb is actually for vanilla kitkat(aosp, maybe cm)
GB worked fine for me on the Z1C, but eventually some features require a deodexed rom. I've always been using RomAur.

I did not mean you have to enable xposed installer. I said: you have to enable GravityKK module by tick the box, do nothing more, restart the phone first. After that you can config without any framework message error!

Yes and as i said, i used Xposed before. what i want to say with that is : I know how Xposed works and how to use it. I know that you have to "activate" modules with the checkbox.
still, GB won't work.

Xposed is a little more difficult, but there would be tutorials that are very well explained how to do it I don't know how to port xposed to your device, but there are many stock roms who have it pre-installed!
Hope I helped you

I got Samsung Galaxy S3 and am on Android 4.3 (JB). I installed Xposed from the link below. But when I download and install modules, nothing happens. I also get an error saying the following:
"Make sure Xposed frameword is installed, this module is enabled on Xposed installer and reboot."

In your Xposed Installer app, head to "Framework" then Install. Your phone should install the framework and reboot. After that go to the app, enable the modules you want to, and reboot your phone again
Also you have to be rooted
