I having some issue with my phone. Copying files from internal storage is difficult. It is very slow. There is only about 6 GB of data there but the process extremely slow. It makes my computer hang most of the time. I tried to do it several times and only succeeded only once. Is there anything that is wrong? My device is not rooted.
Any advise?

Is there anyway to force format a corrupted MicroSD card? While partitioning the card, I messed up pretty bad. The card is unreadable to the G1, and when inserted into my computer is undetectable and even causes Windows Explorer to hang. I have tried several computers with memory card readers, different cell phones, etc.
--wow. the simplest of devices solved my problems. I used a Nokia 5310, it allowed me to format the memory card without any checks. Thank you for simple phones.
Damn... I have a 2GB card with the exact same problem. I wonder if my BB Curve would do the trick... probably not
Had the problem and fixed it this way:
First, turn off the autoplay on the PC. That will resolve the hanging problem as Winblows attempts to figure out what the hell is being inserted into it (sounds like my last date!)
Next, download and install a program called Flash Drive Tester v1.12 and run it on the card. It will basically blank the card completely as it does its test.
You should be able to reformat in Windows by doing a "Full Format" on the drive.
Problem solved (at least for me)
kinda same problem
Hey there, I hav had my g1 for a while now and maybe 4 or 5 months ago when looking through my albums it loaded up all the thumbnails (took longer than usual) but when I tried to view any it just blanked all the thumbnails and started loading them again. Eventually managed to recover my files and reformat card using pc. No problems till now, same thing happened again. Has any1 else had this problem? It is the stock 2gig Transcend microSD. Also now I'm running apps2sd on a partition on my card and cyanogenmod but as I said this happened before when everything was stock. Thanks in advance people
Hi,
My first post here, so hello to all forum users.
When I tried to copy/paste a file (~50MB) from my PC to External SD card on my Galaxy S,
it froze, then shut off - couldn't restart it unless I removed battery for a few seconds.
Sometimes it will seemingly copy/paste files ok, but then the files turn out to be corrupted.
The card (SanDisk 8GB class 2) was Ok at first, and I had copied some files to it without problem, but after a couple of days I noticed some file names were corrupted.
Are there any known problems regarding SDcards getting corrupted with the SGS?
Just wondering if anyone has had similar problems?
Thanks
yes - although my issue was that files would disappear after a short while.
i isolated the problem to my windows 7 OS running on an old Acer.
copying files via linux solves the problem. my brother's asus can write files to the sd card perfectly using windows 7
wierd really
Had a similar problem until I replaced my USB extention cable, The extension cable was USB1 not USB2, got a USB2 extension cable and its fine now even connects to Keis 1st time everytime.
It happened twice to me within 3 days:
first time while synching with media player.
The second: while bluetooth paired, in copilot gps, a call came.
I went to anwser on bluetooth, no respond.
then tried with the phone. It froze.
Then I had to shut down manually (I tried holding the butthon to choose shutdown but everything was frozen).
Then the SD card shows as corrupt.
can't unmount and can't format through the settings.
Got to do it from the top drop down menu. Then choose the sdcard and it asked if I wanted to format.
I've experienced this as well twice already. First is after uninstalling nDrive which is installed on my external SDcard. Second is when i'm trying to copy files from my external SDcard to my pc. I was trying to access the internal SDcard at the same time while i'm copying the files from external SDcard then suddently my galaxy s MTP gave me a force close message. Then it froze and i have no choice but to press power button until it restarts. After restart my phone told me that my external SDcard is corrupted and needs to be formatted. Can't unmount it either so have to do the formatting via the notification area. Really annoying as my phone is less than 2 weeks old. I have this bad feeling that there is a hardware and software problem with my phone! I don't want to send it back yet as it would take ages before i get it again!
This is happening to me as well! The only quickfix was to copy manually without using my galaxy to copy them (just used a sd card reader).
Is this a widespread issue? Any fixes?
BUMP, anyone?
Hi all,
I have been suffering from this issue for a while but cant pinpoint the source of the issue.
Every time i try to transfer a large amount of data onto my phone the speeds drop every few seconds to zero then back up to a few Mbps.
This happens on all the different roms i have tried and even directly mounting using safestrap recovery. it takes a ridiculous amount of time to transfer my 13GB of music to the card (6 hours+). I have also tried to transfer it to the internal memory not the full 13GB but just a 1GB sample and i still had the same issue. I have tried multiple PCs on windows 8 and 7 and multiple cables in case this was the issue.
Has anyone suffered similar issues?
My fear is this is a hardware issue with the phone
Hi everyone,
transferring files from my XZs (.307) internal storage to my pc is extremly slow, sometimes it doesn't even work. It keeps saying "preparing to copy". After 10 minutes of waiting i can finally copy stuff, with very low speeds however.
This is happening on my desktop running Windows 7 and on my laptop running Windows 8/Ubuntu 13.04. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? If so, is there a solution to this?

I faced something similar regardless of the firmware. The speeds are okay but say if there are many files then it would say "preparing to copy" and finishes after awhile. That is not an issue for me. However, When I try to copy a folder, at times, it would copy only part of the folder. I would have to open that folder and individually copy the files that wouldn't get copied. Weird as I have never encountered anything like this before.
Hey. I'm a newbie on XDA(literally signed up today) so I'm not sure if I'm even posting this right. Anyway, I've been using an Infinix HOT2 for some time now but I've been having problems with accessing the phone's internal memory. After first experiencing the problem, I did a reset which seemed to fix the issue and I could access the phone's internal memory. But the problem cropped up again. Now I can't access the phone's internal storage even when I connect it to my laptop. Tried removing the SD card thinking my phone would have no option but to show the only available memory (Lol) but it didn't work. It shows up in devices and printers but there's no directory. The only way I can access internal memory is if I use the ES file explorer app but even then I can't make any changes (copy, delete etc...). Other apps don't even detect the phone's internal memory. I saved all my music to the internal mem before it became inaccessible, so all my music players can't detect any music unless it's on the SD card, except Jet audio player. Somehow it's able to read the files. I have a tiny SD card (8 GB) so I really need to be able to use my phone's internal memory. Any help will be tremendously appreciated....
