Hello my fellow xda friends.
i decided to try and get my old well loved SGS+ back to life. But a problem arised. Whenever i select a md5 file from the one package button in Odin 4.43 Odin just crashes. Anyone knows what's up with this or how i can fix it? Maybe use a different version of Odin?

I checked it out but that doesn't have the "One package" option. And i've got the I9001 not the I9000.

Sorry, I misread.
Is Kies installed? If yes then remove (or disable) it because Odin and Kies don't work well together (they might use the same serial port and that causes issues with Odin). Install just the Samsung USB drivers.
[Q] Why use Kies when using Odin with Windows OS
Posted on March 25, 2012 by tinieblax
I have tried for over a week to flash my SGS2 with Odin from both Windows 7 Ultimate and Windows XP Pro SP3 with no success. I followed instructions to install Kies so that windows installed the Samsung drivers. I closed Kies down and checked that no part of it was running in process by using Task Manager. Odin appeared to run and then hang, somtimes completing with the dread Red colour and Failed! legend. I tried everything. Battery out SIM out. Still no success.
Then I hit on a link to download the Samsung drivers without Kies. I also found references to the fact that Odin and Kies don’t play nice!
So, as it happens my power sockets developed an electrical problem which caused my desktop hard disk to fail. I installed a new OS on a new HDD and this time just the Samsung drivers, NO KIES, then Odin etc. And voilla! The first time I flashed a big green success! I can hardly believe this problem has not been already proved. It seems to apply equally to XP and 7!

I had it installed previously. But temoved it recently but left the drivers from it installed. Don't know if that would matter.

Remove the drivers and install them again.
Download drivers here
I got it! I just had to set everything up and then plug in my phone. Instead of having it plugged in before time.

I am having a problem to get my Tab i800 identified by Heimdall. My tab is stock and I might have messed up kernel so I dont have service bars at all. it is always in airplane mode. When I try to use Heimdall it says "failed to detect compatible device". I looked all around and even posted my problem in some threads but did not get any result. My final goal is to get to CM9.
I wanted to post my problem in general forum but I did not wan to break rules of the forum. Please help, any assistance is appreciated.
Update: My Tab now shoeing a phone connecting to a pc. I was having problems with drivers. Now I have ubuntu and do not know what to do next.

I was thinking the same thing about drivers but before i was able to resolve any software problems. This tab is pain in the rear. I owned fascinate and charge both were piece of cake to root or flash. Currently i have razr. Even with the locked bootloader it is easier to deal with than this tab.

I used odin and it screwed up the kernel. It was clearly my fault but I can fix it. All the guides/zips are made for heimdall.
Because i am tired of researching. I looked all trough internet. Other forums, google and even searched here with sucky search option that xda has. With No results.

Make sure kies is not running then use overcome guide to re-stock/partition device (install safe-stock rom then overcome kernel/rom)
Put desired ICS based rom on sd, use recovery to wipe data/cache, flash.

I have verizon galaxy tab. Now I have a phone connecting to a pc sign with an exclamation mark in the triangle. Great, I think I accidentally disconnected the cable while it was flashing trough Odin.
The good news is Odin still sees the tab. I am not sure about Heimdall though.

My problem is heimdall. My pc is getting drivers for the tab for Haimdall to work. I tried pretty much everything with no luck. Since I had lots of experience with Odin. I am comfortable flashing trough Odin. But all the guides that I found recently is for Heimdall for some reason. I will try to use Heimdall on different pc(same win7 64bit) to see if that works. If not I need to find a way to flash it trough Odin.
you should really try to put ubuntu on usb stick.
Just download the iso of the latest and get unetbootin (free apps for windows too).
Use it to create USB stick, and it has option to leave spare space on the USB disk to allow for changes to be written on.
Boot it up and install heimdall.
Hello everyone,
I am on a stock german ICS and trying out Dr.Ketan's root method.
I have done everything as described, but when i get to CWM it keeps rebooting into itself every time i press any button.
Wondering what is happening with my phone, it sometimes also just reboots entirely out of itself (usually on almost low battery).
Bit scared of flashing with Odin and especially what kernel/rom fits my phone best, any help would be greatly appreciated!

As of now, until further notice, CWM.zip is deemed unsafe to use. Check the thread in the general section. Dr. Ketan has also updated the root guide to reflect this. So if you want to root, you're going to have to use pc odin and flash one if the safe kernels in .tar format like notecore, speedmod, etc. Then use triangle away to reset binary counter.

Thanks, i checked again and he must have updated it just after i started trying lol.
Now i have a new problem, im on a mac.
Ive searched for solutions and found heimdall, but somehow it doenst recognize any of the files or i just dont know how to use it...
Btw whats up with these annoying captcha codes on every post?
Cant read half of em :')
Not sure I can help you there. I use a windows x64 machine. Typically though you have to install Samsung Kies or Samsung usb drivers first before pc odin will recognize the phone in download mode. So maybe try installing usb drivers first?

Recently bought an iMac and sold my defunked laptop. Never really gave any thought about having issues with Odin or Kies however I am now looling to flash 4.0.4 from 4.0.3.
Problems encountered are Kies not connecting to phone and Odin being for Windows PC (currently dont have windows installed on bootcamp).
Anyone have any sugestions?

Try with hiemdall
Odin can only be used with windows, heimdall is the cross platform program
But google about it before using
Got it downloaded but not had time to really do anything yet. Was really hoping that someone would have an answer the make Kies work as that would be easier for doing my fiances S2 as well.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
As a mac user, my experience has been to not even attempt flashing of roms directly from within OS X. I typically use another windows machine or use Parallels desktop and run Windows from that. Bottcamp is an option as well. If you decide on a rom like CM9,good news is that once you have done the initial flashing of a safe kernel via PC Odin in Windows, you can do all subsequent updates via CWM.
If you are concerned about ongoing syncing of media, there are workarounds for getting Kies to work in Mountain Lion or use other apps such as iSync to sync with itunes.
Good luck.

I'm just saying that someone posted a link to KIES for Mac but the OP asks about flashing ROMs from OSX 10.8.1. You can use KIES to copy the ROM to the SDCard (external) if you mount the Note as a drive on the Mac using USB mode. BUT, if KIES isn't already no the Mac and you're running 10.8.x, then Samsung's installer refuses to install KIES for Mac (incorrectly, I might add, because I had KIES already installed and then upgraded to 10.8 from 10.7.x and KIES still worked).
As an alternative, you can use KIES WIFI (launch from the Note) and then connect to it from your Mac. Use that to copy the ROM (tar file) to the SDCard and flash with Mobile ODIN (downloadable from Google Play; I purchased the full version but I believe the free version will also accomplish this much).
Hey guys. Cheers again to all posts. I resulted to digging out my old and dusty laptop and after a few hours updating it i managed to get kies onto it and run the update through it.

I can't connect my device to a computer. I have tried with Kies installed and also installed a driverpack I found. The computer just says it can't recognize the device. I am using a usb cable from a galaxy tab 10.1 but that can be the problem, or can it?
I have rooted the device and app root checker says it's rooted correctly. And my problem is that I can't get cwm recovery into it. I have a new rom from cm on SD card but can't flash it because of cwm isn't installed. I need the computer to find the device to be able to get cwm into it with Odin.
Can someone please help me with this problem? Thankful for any help or suggestions. Excuse if my English as misspellings.

Christian
Yes, likely you need original cable.
And since you are rooted, check if you have protected bootloader.
Read here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071

I have unlock the bootloader successfully.
Is there any other way to get cwm into the device other than using Odin, or can it be done without cwm? I have a 4.3 cm rom and googleapp pack on sdcard.

You can use heimdall. But you still need the correct cable.

Well if you want to do that, you'll need to upgrade to gingerbread first. And to do that you need to be able to connect to your pc, no way around that.
Hello everyone, I hope this is in the correct section but if it's not I apologize.
I recently bought a new phone, and it finally arrived. The phone I have is the Samsung Galaxy S3, the model number according to my settings is GT-i9305T. Ofcourse, I want to root it and flash a custom ROM so it'll run as well as it possibly can, however when I try to use CF Autoroot with Odin I get the error described in the title of this thread.
I have tried using a different USB port on this computer, and I've had no luck. The phone is recognized by Kies, and the drivers were all installed through it.
Now, does anyone have any suggestions? I've been trying to do it with Odin 1.85 and "CF-Auto-Root-m3-m3dv-gti9305t", which appears to be everyone's go-to method for rooting this phone. I really have no idea what else I could try.
Uninstall Samsung Kies. Reboot and try again.
