Good Evening:
I have a HTC One M7UL with Telus (Canada). I have been having problems with the phone charging while it's on and my last ditch effort is to go back to stock and hope something that's wrong will correct itself.
I have HBoot 1.44, S-Off, returned recovery to stock, relocked bootloader, 1.29.661.
I tried using the RUU_M7_UL_K44_SENSE55_MR_TELUS_WWE_4.19.661.8_R_Radio_4T.24.3218.09_10.26.1718.01L_release_351500_signed_2.exe to update and return to stock.
Everything goes fine until the RUU asks me to upgrade from 1.29 to which I select "yes" and then I get an Error (158) and it tells me to find the correct RUU.
Anybody have an idea what I'm doing wrong or if they have a different RUU that I should be using?
Any assistance that gets this working might receive a "donation"
thanks in advance.

Looks promising, do I flash this from recovery, or do I do an ADB push or is there an exe in the zip I can run from the PC?

install from recovery, you'll have to unlock your bootloader again though :/ and re name it to rom and just use command adb push rom.zip /sdcard

Just want to make sure, I just go into recovery, wipe and then install the file via recovery? Seems to easy. I don't have to relock bootloader or flash the stock recovery first?

I am literally losing my mind!
About a month ago, I successfully rooted my Incredible S with Revolutionary, which updated my HBoot to 6.13.x, and then flashed Cyanogenmod 7 through ClockworkMod Recovery. For various reasons, I needed to give my phone to someone in stock form, so I tried using the rom.zip file from the stock RUU of my phone I found on these forums. After it seemingly completed successfully, except for the fact that it said it couldn't roll back HBoot, it asked to reboot, and ever since then, it repeatedly turns on and off, only making it as far as the first HTC logo. Bootloader still works, while recovery doesn't. Selecting recovery restarts the on-off problem. What should I do to revert to stock? Thanks in advance for ALL help.
Phone is from Bell Mobility, I think.

You need to flash the vivo_downgrade.img in fastboot mode before running an RUU if you have revolutionary s-off
Code:
fastboot flash hboot vivo_downgrade.img

After you do the fastboot command, you can then run the RUU again and it should then change the HBOOT.

Yeah I did run the RUU after, and after it once again seemingly finished successfully, I rebooted to the same problem, so I just dismissed it. Looking at it now, the Hboot has downgraded. Does this mean that if I run the RUU once more, I"ll be back to stock? Also, S-ON is on as well. Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure, but I think the problem I'm having may be that I've been using an RUU that's not Gingerbread, and my radio version is too high to accept it. Could that be it? Radio is 3805.04.03.X.

Yep, it's fixed now. The problem was that I was using the Froyo ROM when I should have been using the GB ROM, as was pointed out, as well as my HBoot needed downgrading to accept the proper ROM as well. Thank you both for all the help, extremely appreciated.

Not to worry. When we have S-OFF you can flash any RUU you like. So it will be back to stock. The only bad thing is if you REALLY want to have all the Vodafone bloatware back that came from your original ROM. But there are other vodafone RUUs I think, but just not from your region.

The recovery is broken, and the rom doesn't boot.
I can enter the recovery, but as soon as I try to wipe data or install a rom, it reboots. I tried "fastboot erase cache", I tried reflashing CWM and TWRP, and I tried ADB Sideload on both, same results.
The only way for me is to run RUU, but the problem is, any RUU that I try says "The ROM Update Utility Cannot update you Android phone. Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again.
I am s-off and supercid on hboot 1.55, with the 3.57 firmware. Any ideas on how to get the RUU working? Thanks!

For other RUUs check this site: http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/ruu-file-downloads/
I find HTCdev way too confusing, as it clutters everything together, you can easily download a RUU for "HTC One S" instead of "HTC One" (aka M7)
And since you're S-Off downgrading is no problem
hey yall I been searching and reading all forums on going back to stock. theres only regular sprint htc m8 version and nothing on the hk edition so I can get the new ota and remain on stock. ive lost my back up file when I upload a custom rom. ive tried a bunch of things like using ruu and that but kept getting an error like a 32 and a 99. I cant get the s-on to turn off to get more. idk if im doing something wrong or what but im hoping someone can shine some light this way and help me out. yes I tired the sunshine apk but it pops up need based rom etc. so.........
You have to relock to use an RUU when you're still S-ON, and you must make sure that you're using an HK RUU.

Yes, relock the bootloader (fastboot oem lock). That'll prevent the error 92 or whichever it was. It doesn't matter what recovery is on there, as the RUU will overwrite it with stock.

Needing some help if you anyone can help at all. I was trying unroot my Sprint M8. Something went wrong when I flashed stock recover wrong, I don't know what but the issues started after that, and now it keeps booting into bootloder mode and won't go pass that. I have contacted HTC Premium Support to see if they have any advice still waiting to hear back. I have contacted Sprint and they have told me to take into a store to see if it can be repaired. Does anyone have any tips or advice on how to fix this? Or do you know if it can be fixed by Sprint of if that is wasting a trip. Any help would be much appreciated. Don't know if this is the right forum or not. If not I'm sorry. Thanks for anyone in advance who has any advice tips or whatever it may be..

Download the latest RUU, and make sure that the appropriate drivers are on your computer.
Also, make sure that you lock your bootloader (fastboot oem lock) before running the RUU if you are S-On. If you're S-Off, just run the RUU as is.
If that doesn't work, come back here.
Edit: Magnum responded while I was still typing. Listen to him.
And to respond your question, the RUU is run from the bootloader screen, so you're exactly where you need to be.

Okay my bootloader is locked. The issues started some time between flashing stock recover and relocking the bootloader. It says Tampered Relocked Security Warning if that means anything.
Now I tried fastboot oem rebootRUU and fastboot flash zip firmware.zip when it is flashing the zip in RUU it says

Okay I will do. I am going to give it another shot if that doesn't work I guess I will just make a trip to the Sprint store in the morning. If I can't get the RUU to work do you think Sprint will be able to do anything? Or should I just pay the fee and have it repaired by HTC?

Sprint should be able to fix it. Having said that, you don't need to try and run the RUU from a command line. Double-click the RUU file from your desktop to start the installer, then follow the prompts on your computer as they appear.

I have a question im on a stock rooted rom with no system changes except for the boot up sound which i restored. I flashed the stock recovery and then tried to take the OTA but it failed about a quarter of the way through. would my best bet be to just flash the firmware and flash a 4.4.4 stock rom with the eye feature when available or do I just do a RUU? Im just trying to keep phone up to date with stock rom. any suggestions?

Currently there is no stock rooted ROM for 4.4.4. You can update your firmware if you'd like and then wait for someone to publish a stock rooted ROM. Otherwise you can troubleshoot the reason you can't install the OTA and go from there.
