IMHO, the easiest way to root Mi 3 is to download the developer version of MIUI 6 to replace the original stable version.
The developer version is pre-rooted.

Install cwm recovery
http://en.miui.com/thread-40302-1-1.html
Install it, bout it to recovery. While exiting it will ask you to root. Say yes. Install super su from play store later. It will do the rest

[Q] Is it possible to remove MIUI Bloatwares?

Im thinking buying this device. I also happen to know that the Xiaomi Mi3 forum commnunity are not organized but thats just me.
In MIUI, theres all this Security app. Antivirus app and so many apps MIUI built in to the ROM. Can it be removed? Im planning to not upgrade it to CM or AOSP but keeping MIUI except that I'd replace certain stuff with CM stuff. I think its more stable that way.

If ur on the Developer firmware and have root access, try using a root explorer (I used ES File Explorer to replace the stock Calculator with CM one...)

U can be on stock & remove the bloatware but u need to be rooted. Try root uninstaller apps from playstore to do so

Well, as he said, you have to be rooted. So why not flash the Dev ROM (with MIUI 6!!) to get root access?? If you DONT like MIUI 6 though (still in active development hence missing loads of features) you'll have to root your stock ROM. You'll find guides in MIUI English forum. Do a Google Search. :good:

Actually you need a custom recovery to root without PC. Just flashing a ZIP of Su Binary and installing Super user app from play store will do the job.

magisk root VS chainfire

Hey guys just need to double check some information
Currently using a Google Pixel with Purenexus 7.1.2 and chainfires root.
Tired of waiting for PN 8.0 so going to slflash to stock and was wondering if magisk root would be a downgrade from chainfires as I am a power user

Not a step down at all, I've only had Titanium Backup give me any type of warning about it, but gave me no problems.

Not sure why you think it would be a "downgrade". It give you root, and that root functionality is not significantly any different from SuperSU. Plus, Magisk has a big collection of cool "systemless" modules which can be easily loaded and unloaded.
Each method has its pros and cons. Read up on both, and decide, as it's primarily a personal preference. But personally, I was a longtime SuperSU user, and was hesitant to jump on the Magisk bandwagon. But now that I have, I have yet to go back or even consider it.
The thing is, magisk provides simplicity over SuperSU. Also systemless feature give it ahead start of SuperSU

MagiskSU is based on SU original binaries so isn't a downgrade, its just that if you use Magisk, the su binary u will use will be ajusted for Magisk compatibility.
Then, Titanium Backup works with Magisk's root?
