[Q] No data in any 1xRtt area on my HK Edition - Sprint HTC One (M8)

I happen to live in a very remote area served only by a tower that provides 1xRtt data. Up until a couple of weeks ago, I would get a data connection, slow as it was, but it was at least functional. I thought this may have been my local tower, but when traveling, I've found that I don't get 1x data anywhere. As soon as I get into a 3G or LTE area, the data works fine, so this is very perplexing. The problem seems to exist whether or not I'm roaming. My local tower is actually for Verizon's network, but I had no problem a few weeks ago getting data, and my wife's Sprint iPhone 5 has no trouble with 1x data here, either.
I did a search and didn't find anything like this, so can can anyone provide a suggestion on what to do? As a side note, I don't have problems with data disconnects or voice call drops. This is the only data issue I'm experiencing.

1x data sucks as it is, sprints backhaul is terrible. Backhaul can make our break a carrier, that's why Verizon has faster lte on slower bands. That said you're probably getting crazy fast Verizon 1x at home and regular 1x elsewhere. Sprint's 1x isn't fast enough for speedtest to even find a server and is so slow that many apps time out and think there is no service. Sprints 1x is at best good only for email and mms. I wouldn't try to surf the web or anything else with it

I'm not getting anything at home. The phone doesn't even seem to get a data connection unless drive 15 miles into a 3G area.

Missread, maybe Verizon is doing some maintenance on it ?

If it were Verizon maintenance, my wife's phone would have the same problem as mine, but it doesn't. Her data connection is fine.
Yes, I did update the PRL/profile.

4G down in So. Calif?

Any body else here in California experiencing this? My phone has been reduced to 3g and sometimes 1x all day today.

There have been issues with the 4g nationwide actually. I've been having intermittent connection loss

Yes, still on 1x...
Hmmm didn't get hit with this one.
GINGERVOLTED!
Ive been having issues over the past few days in St. Louis MO... Kind of disappointing.
Ok so anyone want to take a gander and speculate as to the reasons?
I'll start... Over usage from more than expected speed junkies using mobile torrents on their phones, practically causing the system to get DOS'd. <shrug>

Seriously doubt that it's caused by torrents. Otherwise, companies like Comcast would be down all the time for that exact reason. Plus, mobile torrent apps don't usually allow much speed. Best I was ever able to get when I did 'try' one out, was about 500K/s, whereas my phone is capable of speeds closer to 5MBs/s (40-42Mbps)...
I think it has more to do with system overload and lack of qualified IT Staff to create redundancy within the network. Every time a new major phone comes out, these problems arise. It happened with the iPhone release, and now with the Nexus release. Also, Christmas is a heavy time period for new accounts and phone activations. So, I would put my weight to that more than actual data usage by torrents, etc...

Exhibit 4G on AT&T Medianet

So my wife and I have been using unlocked phones on our grandfathered AT&T medianet unlimited data plans for over two years now. About six months ago I bought her an Exhibit 4G and unlocked it to work on AT&T. Just recently she got the dreaded you need a data plan text message on her phone. So she got bumped to a 2GB data plan.
I'm not sure how AT&T caught on since it wasn't one of there phones and she doesn't really do much else besides check Facebook and text.
Anyone else using this on AT&T?
once you put a sim card into it, AT&T knows your using a phone on their network. so they wanted you to have a data plan, they sent the message to your number which is accociated with your sim card.

Did you install a custom ROM. If on stock then carrier IQ may have some hi g to do with that.

whats the closest resemblance to this phone on the verizon network?
Same thing happened to me...they put me on a 3GB plan automatically. Took them about 2 months to get me...

Just wondering...what kind of speeds you are getting on the AT&T network? I've played around with several APN settings I've found on here and none have improved my download speeds (always says 3G)...which are around 0.25 MBPS.
Spent some time on "chat" with ATT and am going ot try a new SIM card. Mine is an older one with 3G on it. I tried to get my plan changed (and I think this is the problem) to a LTE plan but the ATT rep couldn't get the "system" to accept the change for some reason.

VoLTE APN.

Just wanted to open this up as a discussion about the up and coming AT&T VoLTE (Voice over LTE) rollout.
I have been trying this new APN on and off in the Metro Orlando area without any luck so far.
Wondering what anyone else can contribute on this subject.
The settings are the same as is used in the "pta" apn, but instead, the apn name is "nxtgenphone"

I have been using it in the Cleveland area .. I honestly don't see any change at all. If it was try VoLTE .. while on a call, wouldn't the data connection stay as 4G/LTE ? Because mine doesn't .. switches just like it did before to 4G only, then back to 4G/LTE within seconds of ending the call.
Yes, It should stay LTE while on a call.
I completely lose all data when I use that APN. Does not work in any way at all for me.

I've had absolutely no problems with it working here in Cleveland .. calls, internet, mms .. everything works. Just not the VoLTE part .. LOL
Just tried, I get data but still goes int 4g when in a call and I'm in the DFW area so I'm in AT&T's home
It's just odd for me that it is totally nonfunctional in this market area. I even tried on my gf's note 3 since she has the at&t version and still a no go. I have the tmobile version so I thought maybe it was a modem or software issue.

Odd? It's a service that isn't out yet and probably still in testing with very limited active markets.
Sent from my SM-T520 using Tapatalk
Well... If what I am reading is correct, only the Asus Padphone will be compatible at first. I do not believe any current American device will be functional with it.
I have also read that the international LTE Note 3 and S4 are supposed to work with it as they started it in Asia first.
As for America, it looks like we don't have support or the hardware for it, yet.

I have also read that they are privately testing it themselves and have not really released it in any market.
If that were the case, a small update would have to happen to get the APN to our phones just to be on the safe side. I can bet that someone from XDA would have grabbed that update.

Nothing in my area yet. I hope soon. If band 12 doesn't make things better I might be looking to jump ship. My wife has service everywhere I don't on att. LTE service.... What's the point of the fastest LTE if you can't access it.

Same here. Work and my house are two places I spend the most time. My work is a fortress with 20 I beams supporting the roof. I do get solid edge service though so I'm hoping it's one of the sites replaced with band 12

Did t- mobile block LTE on tab s2 recently?

All of sudden my sm-t819y is no longer connecting to LTE band 2 or 4 , instead just on hspa+.
My other Samsung devices are connected to band 4 LTE but the tab s2 no longer is.
Im thinking perhaps T Mobile has implemented something to no even allow international versions access to their LTE network . Using a standard t mobile voice and data sim card on simple choice plan.
Cheers
Edit: swapping sim cards and putting the original sim card back in brought back LTE.

LTE is working on my T719, international unlocked LTE model. BUT, since last night I cannot download any apps from Google Play on T-Mobile LTE. Works fine on wifi! And T-Mobile LTE works for everything else.
