you have s-off and super cid and most likely custom recovery
you need stock recovery and and the missing files from unlocking the bootloader. This is discussed 100's of times in the forums. Your choice is flash a RUU (loose everything) and take all the OTA updates. Or locate the stock recovery and missing files and restore them then take the OTA update.

I think I prefer RUU
Can you kindly do a step by step or just share a link to the guide?

Seems their is no RUU for 3.63.708.3 only an OTA that may contain the files you need. >> http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ota_m7_...-24-708-4_release_339322l8015akovncw94nh-zip/

Your problem here is the modelid (MID) is shown as a EU MID - PN0710000
and the correct MID for xx.x.708.x is PN0714000
Do you have root in your current ROM ?
If yes then you need to change the MID to PN0714000

Nothing ... until you fix the wrong MID
Or make a total change to EU version, then you can start with a EU RUU with lower version and do many OTA to the latest version.

open it in 7zip and extract the firmware.zip to your desktop
this has the stock recovery in it.
then back in 7zip you need the system/priv-app folder
this should contain the missing files from unlocking the bootloader. They could also be in system/app. You'll have to check what errors you get during the update to see what files are failing the check / Missing

Great ... you fixed the main problem.
And the second problem is the recovery, as mentioned before you need a stock recovery
Grab it here : http://d-h.st/7di
You may have another problem ... how to flash this stock recovery.
Since you managed to fix the variant version problem, then I guess you have root in your ROM.
Unlock the bootloader with this guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2475914
see : to UNLOCK your bootloader, enter the following:
then fastboot flash the stock recovery
try again and see whether you have any error. The only one I can guess is your ROM may not have the preload files ... fix this one later if there is a problem. If no problem then everything should be good.

Modified firmware = variant system version error
You can't update automatically or manually when you have this error
Check that you have CID HTC__044 and MID PN0714000
If no ... read a few post that mentioned before
Also note that "relock bootloader" is not necessary

CID__044 is wrong and HTC_044 also wrong.
The correct one is HTC__044 (notice the double underscore)
To make thing easier why don't change it to SuperCID
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
(there 8 of 1)
I don't advise to manually update OTA, since you insist :
1. Put the OTA.zip on the root of sdcard
2. Boot to hboot and select recovery
3. press power + volume up to enter recovery
4. select install from phone storage
5. select 0 then select the OTA.zip
6. the system will install and it will ask you to reboot to flash firmware
7. reboot and let the system do its task
8. system will reboot and done

From what I see from your ''fastboot getvar all'' your CID is HTC__J15 and MID PN0711000 so you need a .401 base RUU like this one : http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_u_jb_50_htc_europe_1-29-401-2_r_radio_4a-14-3250-13_10-33-1150-01_release_311663_signed_2_4-exe/ not a .707
But you are S-on, you shouldn't be able to run a RUU because it require Hboot downgrade to 1.44 (you are on 1.54)
Maybe you should go with a guru reset from htc1guru.com or attemp to s-off and run the 1.29.401 ruu.exe

We don't care! Let me explain: you have to downgrade hboot to 1.44 to be able to run that ruu I linked above. After the ruu process is complete you will receive ota and hboot will update to latest version avail.

Yes after a RUU restore, your device will be 100% stock (stock OS, stock recovery etc...) so as long your MID and CID match the ruu, you will receive ota updates.

Allways stay s-off !!! If you still were s-off, you simply had to run that ruu.exe i linked above. Now with s-on you can't downgrade hboot. Nothing guarantee you will be able to s-off again when you go back s-on. so better to stay s-off.
now go read that thread I linked above (nkk71 guide to return stock) and you will find many options to return stock. You can also use a decrypted ruu.zip and edit the android-info.txt to match your mid and cid.

1- yes, i saw that, but didnt care cause you're s-off; it sometimes happens when trying to flash a firmware package and it doesnt go through successfully.
2- SuperCID is 11111111 (8 ones), then you can use any ruu you like, but it won't let you get any OTAs
3- so recommend you set HTC__J15, so you can receive OTAs
4- keep S-OFF !!

Hello, I have a rooted international HTC One currently running 4.3 Android with Sense 5.0. I am trying to perform an OTA system update that I have received... I downloaded the new 4.4 Android (1.1 GB) and I have selected "Install Update". But when the phone restarts, it just enters recovery and opens TWRP by itself!
So then I try to flash the downloaded OTA file via TWRP, but that also fails... Does anyone know how I can get 4.4 on my HTC One? Thank you

You can't apply ota with a custom recovery, you need your stock recovery.

Thank you

Depending on whats been done to the phone you can eather flash stock recovery and try the update from their or you have to ruu back to stock and take the update that way.
fastboot getvar all will tell you what stock recovery you need or what ruu to use

So would you recommend getting stock recovery following nkk71's guide in your signature, or should I just flash a 4.4 rom?

Do what cIsA said. Check the output of "fastboot getvar all". Look at your main-ver # and find the corresponding stock recovery. There is a thread in general section with a collection of stock recovery.
You can post the output of getvar here minus imei/sn and we will link you the correct recovery.
Okay so I ran a fastboot getvar all, and apparently there is no RUU for my device, because it is Latin American with a CID of HTC_332. (I searched almost everywhere)
Now, after flashing a 4.4 rom I downloaded, my HTC device wasn't turning on anymore (it was getting stuck at the HTC boot logo). So I restored from a backup I made in TWRP, and that didn't work either. So now my problem just got 1000x worse because of a mistake I just made now of completely wiping my device and the OS.
So for the moment I'll try to flash a new boot.img, get S-OFF again, and change the CID to 11111111 (as I have read) where I will then download a RUU I can use. I'll let you know what happens.
Whoa there.. No need to flash boot.IMG.
What's you're steps? I think you are about to make it worse

Okay well I'm in a tight situation atm.
My phone is completely wiped, with no OS or anything. The only thing I have access to is fastboot, and the TWRP bootloader. Also considering my phone is wiped, I believe I have S-ON as well.
So what is the first step to just get a boot going? (unless I'm not completely screwed that is..)
EDIT- I have successfully flashed Android Revolution to my phone from TWRP by pushing the zip via adb fastboot. Got my phone running again. Step 1 complete.
Step 2 now is to get S-OFF again...
Step 3- Change my CID to 11111111 using the SuperCID method (there is no RUU for my Latin American CID; HTC_332)
Step 4- Use an appropriate RUU to get 4.4 stock after I have changed my CID.
Before I continue with these steps, can anyone confirm with me if I am on the right path?
Step 2 - Confirmed.
Step 3 & Step 4 ... What is an appropriate RUU? You have not yet posted a fastboot getvar all output yet. (remove imei)

I had the same cid when I bought mine. Irc, MID was PN0711000 with s.w. X.XX.599.X.
so he could use the 1.29.401.2 ruu on htc1guru but he have to change cid.

These CID:
HTC__001
HTC__J15
HTC__A48
HTC__M27
are compatible with the 1.29.401.2 ruu.zip so i'll suggest you to use HTC__001 if you change your mind. Personally, I would stay on ARHD. No benefit to flash that RUU vs ARHD. ARHD is always up to date...
I have an HTC m7, S-on, hboot 1.56, and the bootloader is unlocked. The phone was updating a few days ago via WIFI when it was removed from the access point, and of course the update failed mid way through because of this. The phone shows a htc phone with a red arrow in the middle of it. I'm able to boot into the os, but I can't log into the services to set up the phone and I encounter multiple errors. How exactly do I just flash another stock ATT ROM? I was going to flash the original update that failed through adb but I have no recovery to do so. I'm not sure what to do, any help will greatly be appreciated. Thanks!
Anyone? I'm dying here lol.
No one has any clue to help me? I'm still stuck here.

since your phone is s-on, you can not flash the ota update manually. Anyway I don't think flashing the ota again could solve your issue. Looks like something got corrupted because the updated process aborted. There is a RUU that match your version you could use it to restore your phone back to stock. Using a RUU will wipe everything from your phone (like if it was brand new). make sure your bootload is locked or relocked.
http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_...9_10-26-1718-01l_release_356565_signed_2-exe/
btw have you tried a simple factory reset? Might worth a try before using the ruu

Apart from the fact you have the wrong recovery I think that the mismatch with your firmware and CiD is your problem.
I'm not sure how you can put that right without s-off though.
What OS version number does the OTA your trying to install have?
You can try to flash the latest 6.09.401.12 firmware over it. In theory that should work as it will match your CiD and MiD

Nop, you need 6.09.401.12 firmware and 6.09.401.12 Rom. Only thing is if you do change you won't get the OTA as I don't think it's been pushed for 401 yet. But at least you'll be ready when it comes
I have a 6.09.401.11 nandroid and Firmware. That may do the trick but I'll see if I can find the .12 first

I think I need to find recovery compatible with 6.07.1540.2 software. Please @Danny201281 or @alray , at least one of you can help me ?
I got s-off now.
@alray wrote that at another thread;
1-Use Sunshine to achieve s-off
2-change your cid to BS_US001
3-change your MID to PN0712000
4-flash the 7.17.1540.7 RUU or take the 7.17.1540.7 ota update.
i gained s-off by using sunshine... now i will change cid and mid and take take the 7.17.1540.7 ota update. But my recovery is recovery_4.19.401.11.img . I think this will be a problem. Where can i find suitable recovery ?
I changed cid to BS_US001 but changing mid is difficult i think. do i have to change it to get ota (7.17.1540.7) ?

Open firmware file and check if it allows your mid. If not, and S-off, add your own and flash firmware.zip!

I get file via OTA so i dont have it. I tried again but still i got "variant system software", i think that means my mid is not allowed.
How can i change my mid ? can you help me step by step ?
I think s-off skips signature check so changing firmware.zip content will not be problem, am i right ?

I'm trying to update my firmware before updating to ARHD 93.0 from 91.0 and I have a few questions. I'm trying to figure out how to update my firmware, but I can't seem to find any firmware.zip for my phone model. What i can find though, are RUUs for it, specifically 7.21.707.5 and 7.21.707.21. I want to know if these are the correct and the latest ones and which one I should use first if they are correct, since I heard that you need to update the firmware incrementally. I'm also not sure if using these would revert my phone back to S-ON and unrooted, so I hope someone can clarify me on this. Thanks and fastboot getvar all results are as follows.

(bootloader) version: 0.5

You don't need to flash incrementally when using a RUU and the only thing you need to flash a 7.xx.707.x RUU is a 6.xx.707.x firmware already on the phone (which you have). Install the newer RUU (.21) then take all the ota updates (should have 2, one from .21 to .30 and another one from .30 to .51). Flashing a RUU doesn't affect S-ON/S-OFF status neither the unlocked bootloader but you'll obviously loose root since flashing a RUU will flash the /system partition back to stock which is where are stored the SU binaries. Anyway this is not really an issue since ARHD is a pre-rooted rom so after youv got your firmware updated via the RUU and ota updates, you can reflash TWRP recovery and ARHD so your phone will be on the latest firmware + ARHD + root + S-OFF + unlocked BL.
Btw there are otther way to update your firmware like changing your MID and CID and flashing another firmware.zip version. E.g. MID to PN0710000 and cid to HTC__001 (or supercid) and flash the 7.19.401.2 full firmware.zip then TWRP and finally ARHD.
Both methods will make your phone ready for latest roms like ARHD.
Thanks for the reply For the 1st method, how do I go about getting the OTA updates? Does flashing the RUU mean my phone will have the stock ROM and I can just download them through HTC? For the 2nd method, if I change the MID and CID to what you said, the existing firmware will still be the same right? I thought you could only upgrade the firmware with the same middle numbers, eg. 6.xx.401.x to 7.xx.401.x and not 6.xx.707.x to 7.xx.401.x even when you change the MID and CID.

Yes, until you flash another firmware...

Not if you change the CID and MID. But it must be a firmware compatible with your variant (M7_UL) and you must convert by using a complete(full) firmware.zip file, not using a firmware.zip that was extracted from an ota update (these kind of firmware.zip must be flashed incrementally). Acomplete firmware.zip (as opposed to a firmware.zip extracted from an OTA) will be about 40-50 Mb like this one. So if going for option #2: Change CID to one of the CID compatible with x.xx.401.x base (or supercid), change MID to PN0710000, flash that 7.19.401.2 firmware, then reflash twrp and finally ARHD.
