[Q] calibration problems

so i understand the calibration gig, or at least superficially think i do, but i'm having a problem. as soon as i charge to 100 and click calibrate it immediately says it was successful without allowing me to drain the battery. this didn't use to happen. somehow i don't think i'm calibrating properly anymore. thoughts? am i completely off base and this is correct?

What do you mean by "allowing me to drain the battery"? When I click calibrate I immediately get that message as well and disconnect my phone from the charger. That's how it's always been for me.

that's reassuring. i meant that after pressing calibrate we're supposed to drain the battery for it to go successfully

Oh I guess this app doesn't work that way? I don't know I've never done that.

the way I understand it is that when you press calibrate, all it does is delete the battery stats file in the system. the reason you need to discharge it after that is because on the first full cycle the system will rebuild that file correctly to the ROM you are using.

Help Needed for s6102

for the last one year i have been using s6102.. recently the battery after full charging within 3 hours fully drowned.. without doing any apllications.. after changing the battery same problem persists... even after changing ROM and kernel the problem still persists. what may be the reason plz help....

have you tried calibrating your battery? if you haven't try this.. i always do this when my battery gets miscalibrated. 1st turn off your phone, take out the battery and leave it for 1 to 2 minutes, put the battery back, go to recovery mode and to CWM recovery go to advanced and wipe battery stats, reboot your phone
give feedback if it works or not,,

This doesnt calibrate the battery,it only delete the logfile of the battery.i think he need a new one.please op,next time ask in right section.

Use only 2G Networks

1. Proper way to calibrate battery:
Drain the battery completely (use an Xposed module called disable critical battery shutdown, google it). Then, recharge the battery to 100% (DON'T unplug the charger cable while charging) and done.
2. Underclock when necessary.
3. Don't run too many apps at one time.
4. Make sure that deepsleep is working.

what i found from the battery status is that the device is always awake.. no matter the screen is locked or off or not.... another peculiar thing is that the charging never reaches 100% it stays in 99% and keeps charging.... how to stop the wakelocks plz help

1. You can use Wakelock Detector from Play Store.
2. It is normal behavior...... if the battery status won't move from 99% to 100% after 1-2 hours (while charging), there might be a problem.

Why does this happen?! Battery annoyance.

Just when I think I've got it all setup nicely...
Latest AOSIP rom with Hellscore kernel, stock settings greenify, full discharge and recharge, all seemed so good....
And then boom. Go to reboot to recovery and I get the little empty battery icon upon reboot - but I was at around 40%?!
I use the battery calibration app, for what it's worth knowing the debate about the battery stats file. I've done the bootloader logs 'trick' and still I get a random occurrence like this?!
Anyone else been plagued with this randomly happening to them?

There are so many reasons it can happen. on thing id recommend is install ampere form play. Using this you should be able to monitor the voltage of the battery and at least know that it is operating within the correct range. if your 0% voltage is too high, it could rule some stuff out.

Cool. Just periodically check the app and jot down the percentage and voltage. keep doing that until its ready to shut down. preferably a reading every 10-15% if you can but really important is to try and capture readings just before and after any drop off you may see.

Perfect thanks for the advice, I've got it installed and now juts doing a full charge.
Following that drop out, the device then reported 7% battery so I let that go flat and now fully recharging.
If it's the case that there is something going on here, how can the issue be corrected? Does Ampere help configure reported VS actual readings, or does it purely show what's being drained?

Its worth getting a voltage reading now too then, to see if it is as low as expected. As for solution, we need a root cause first.

Ok here is my first screen. I'd browsed Facebook (web version) and watched a video or 2, battery dropped to 97% soon after.

Yep. Just keep going. Every 10% is fine. No more than that. Actual battery charge is voltage so we just want to see if there are any conflicting data sets later on

It just did it again!!?
I had even doing the Ampere monitoring but didn't go all the way down. But today I just experienced the random drop out again. Strangely when I booted back up, it was as if the cache had been wiped as the Android Optimising app screen came on.

This was from the other day though, if this helps?

The other day did it seem to deplete normally? I'm around 20%/right now and see similar voltage to you.
Sometimes my phone used to crash and when it booted up I had this graph / drainage issue. It's as if it goes into some manic sleep that kills everything. What you've got here seems similar. I don't think there's an issue with the battery cycle itself.
I'd be tempted to do a factory reset and start clean to be honest.

Is the back of your N6 lifting away from the frame? I had this issue too and ended up doing a RMA because the battery was bulging.

Weird and annoying isn't it!
I've recently flashed this new rom and so has been a fresh start so I'm kind of at a loss as to what to try next.

Just took off my case and checked and all seems normal, back doesn't appear to be coming away and seems to be ok.
It's times like this I miss my good old Note 3, never had a battery life like it for its flat lining ability!! (see attached)

If it were the battery capacity due to bloating, I would expect to see the Voltage value to be wrong
Go back to stock and run it with no restored apps / data. If it still happens RMA

Your battery calibration is messed up. It happens.
DO NOT waste your time with "battery calibration app" -- there is NO software you can install and run from Android that will have ANY impact AT ALL on the battery calibration. All those "battery calibration" programs do, is delete the battery stats file, and all the battery stats file does, is store a log of what programs are responsible for how much resource utilization -- nothing at all to do with calibration.
Battery calibration reset is done through the BOOTLOADER.
Reboot your phone to bootloader. Scroll to "bootloader logs". Press and hold power button until the phone shuts down.
And that is all there is to it.

Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately, I have tried this many times and so there must be more to it than this. On my latest rom, I had wiped phone and clean flashed whilst phone was connected and at 100%. Therefore a new clean install whilst phone was at 100%. I cleaned that stats (for what it was worth) and also did the bootloader logs trick. I would have thought that would have solved the issue, but as reported it still happened.

Your calibration is fine because the % matches up to the voltage, which is all calibration matches.

It's hard to say. It seems like the system may be crashing or something at that time and causing an inordinate drain. Thats what mine used to do sometimes.

Poor Battery Life - HELP!

So, over the last week, I have noticed such poor battery life. My battery is not performing as it once did.
I recently downloaded Power Shade, so I decided to disable it (not uninstall it). It's not listed in the Play Store at this time.
I have noticed that Android System uses a lot of my battery, while my battery life drops like a rock while I have my screen on. I never have my screen brightness passed 25% (and it is usually less).
Please take a look at these screenshots. What is going wrong?

It says your phone has been on the battery for over 15 hours.. I don't see how that's considered bad? That's pretty much what I get.

Install BBS, grant permissions and check what is messing your battery. That is awful SOT

Well, I turned on Power Shade and left my phone untouched for one hour. My battery dropped 5%.
Then, I turned it off and left my phone alone for another hour and it went down only 2%.
So, that's the culprit?

I'm not sure if your battery drain is regarding normal usage or standby time.
If it's a standby drain, I would suggest installing Naptime app from the playstore. Grant the permissions via ADB, your standby battery life would be great.
I've experienced a really good battery mileage after installing the app.
Make sure you enable to aggressive doze option and keep the app out of power save or the sleeping apps option.
Also, try turning off Location and see if Android System percentage goes down.

I had Location set to "High Accuracy" - I have now changed that to "Battery Saving."

The naptime app is a piece of cake if you have root access, if your phone is not rooted, the app will suggest some steps you can follow to allow it function properly. For the non-root method, you will require a computer and ADB (Android Debug Bridge) to be installed in the computer.
If you kept location service to battery saving then maybe it might help save battery juice.

Do you have certain settings that you think I should really have (without any repercussions) that you could screenshot me?

What do you think of these settings?
About 7 hours were not on Wi-Fi...

Hey,
I think TuneUp Master Pro might help you, I haven't actually used BetterBatteryStats.
But I saw your screenshot, one thing I noticed is that you keep bluetooth switched on (Android Wear)?, If so then I think maybe that is your issue (I'm saying this cause I have a Gear 2 connected to my Note8, when the device is connected it takes some amount of battery). Try to use your device without bluetooth for maybe 1 day and see if there is any improvement in Battery Life and Screen On Time.
I would suggest other basic options like:
1. Turning off Location when you don't need it
2. Turning off Bluetooth
3. Turning off Mobile Data (or keeping the network mode to 3G/2G)
4. Delete useless apps, if you have apps like BetterBatterStats, I think they can monitor app data and battery usage.
5. Goto Settings>Device Maintenance>Battery, scroll down till the end and select "always sleeping apps", select apps that you want only to wake up when you open the apps. Go back and remove useless or unwanted apps under the unmonitored apps section (This option is right before the always sleeping apps one).
Also try doing a cache clear from Android Recovery (Be Careful when selecting the options):
1. Turn off your phone
2. Hold the Volume Up, Bixby and Power Button simultaneously until you see the boot screen, as soon as you see that screen release your fingers from the buttons
3. Once the recovery options come, use your volume buttons to move up and down, and the power button to select an option.
4. press volume down and select the clear cache option, press the power button, use the volume down button again to select "Yes" and press the power button.
5. It will clear Cache
6. Restart your, its the first option in the menu.
This might helps the phone clear cache files and maybe fix your battery issue.
It would also be good if you install this app, after installing goto the "Personal" tab and check if your battery health is good, mine is 91%. You should also be in that range or maybe 80%. If the percentage is bad then maybe I think you would require a battery replacement. Correct me if I am wrong guys, but just a suggestion.
One more thing, is your phone rooted or having a custom rom?, if yes I suggest to try Naptime and other rooted battery saving apps like Greenify.
If not then I think you and me will have to hope that Android 9.0 Pie would have some improvement, sadly I have been a Samsung user for 4 to 5 years, this isn't usually the case with Samsung OS updates .

Based on this, I don't think I have anything rogue going on, do you?

When not using my phone, my battery only dropped about 2% per hour, which is great. But when my screen was on, I seemed to have lost a lot of power. I can't even get 4 hours of screen on time.
What would cause tis to happen? I barely have my screen brightness at 20%.

Does this tell you more? It shows battery usage with cell phone signal.
(I was off Wi-Fi for about the last 6 hours of the day.)
Does this show a slower battery drop with a better signal?

Chrome and facebook drain lot compared to others. Are you putting them (and others) to sleep using device management? Also, 2.7% drain per hour isn't fantastic. You can drop that to approx 1% if you tame enough things on your phone.

2% per hour for rooted phone is very bad. In 10 hours you loose 20% battery, looks very bad too. If you open the 4g you loose 40%. I loose 2% every 10 hours and i have 95% kernel deep sleep. Your System have big drain in first picture. Debloat your rom and fix your bad wakelocks with amplify and with appops. Possible change your rom and your kernel if you are not rooted. If you are not rooted god bless you, or read the xda threads to learnd about the phones. All your apps have very bad wakeup issues. This apps run all the time and dont leave the phone to sleep. You use malware bytes into android.... the linux is not windows 10. You dont need this crap apps.

Should they always be sleeping?

nexus shutdowns

I have a Nexus xt1103, but im experience shutdowns when i try to receive the call of telegram and active it. But it shutdown. The same happen to me with the camera on ROMs like lineage and crdroid (both Oreo). So I want to know what could be? If you experience something like this.

Shutdowns are a sign that you need a new battery.
If you are reasonably dexterous, you can replace it yourself.

It's normal that after the shutdown I can turn it on and use normal. For example it shutdown at 30%. After that I turn on the phone and the phone keep having 30% and I can use it while it discharge completely?

Yes, that is the way it is on the Nexus 6. A weak battery can run fine most of the time, but when something demands a lot of power, the voltage drops, and the phone turns off.

@runekock is right. It's your battery which can't deliver the current at spike loads.
Someone should make a thread named 'Sudden shutdown = dead battery' and pin it at the top of every category as every other day someone asks the same.
