If it is reverting back to the original APN, then the one you're trying to use is no good, in my experience.

I'm trying to enter a custom one because my Download speeds are like .5 Mbps with 5 bars lte , the web pages load fast but when I actually try to download something from the web it takes forever

See this is ridiculous att troubleshooted with me and it's still not working correctly lol when att can't fix it I know the devs can lol

Hate to say but that looks liked throttled speeds, what plan are you on?

I'm still on the old iPhone plan (30 a month unlimited data)

That is what I had, the old grandfathered plan, you have been throttled for using more than 5G for the billing cycle. You can call and argue and be told that you still have unlimited data just at a reduced speed and they will try to move you over to the new shared plans. Which makes not sense because you can use all the shared and go over the 5G and not get throttled (they will correct you for using that word, so I called it crippled and finally retarded speeds to just piss them off), sorry for the rant. But I tried all the different apn and got nothing.

Tmobile data plan help 9.99

Hello
I have been using the 9.99 web2go data plan part of tmobile for about 3 months now and this morning it just stopped working. I wanted to see if it happened to anyone else, and what setting is everyone else using?
i tried:
internet2.voicestream.com
wap.voicestream.com
both didnt work and i tried to use a proxy with the wap.voicestream and didnt work as well
any help would be great!
I'm also using the mobile internet from T-mobile and don't have any isseu's with it.
what you could try is the connection setup maybe it will help. it is located in start>settings>connections
They also nailed me today. THey are forcing everyone without T-mo phones to the 24.99/mo plan. Jerks.

whats ur configurations, that you are using??? because i believe i tried everything that i know of and its not working for me...
Mine internet was setup automaticly witch connection setup
the settings of t-mobile internet looks as followd
General tab:
T-Mobile internet
Moden tab:
T-Mobile internet
Acces point name: Internet
The user name and password is empty
Proxy settings tab:
there is no proxy
could i aske you where you live. maybe its a local problem.
but if i'm must be honest the mobile internet of vodafone is much much better than the on of t-mobile. i used them both and the vodafones was much faster. but thats my experiance. now i'm using the 15 euro internt plan from t-mobile it is a little bit faster thatn the 10 euro.
Here in US, we need to put a Access Point name, but they want everyone to use the 29.99 plan, but there was a loop whole where you can use another plan but still get unlimited internet, but it seems that isnt happening anymore for some people ; (

Not at all. That used to be the case, but then there was a legitimate $9.99 internet/messages plan. It was just a $9.99 plan for a half-ass edge connection, which I was okay with. But they are trying to force us up to $24.99, STILL for a half-ass edge connection (because X1a can't connect to USA T-mobile 3G). I say we boycott.
my 4? dollar whatever it is plan still works haha. I've had this thing for like 6 years? 7? and mine still works fine.
Yes, my 9.99 tmobile data plan stopped working too just last night, called tmobile and they are positive that it's due to the upgrade of their pricing, 9.99 plan no longer work, at least for smartphones, to browse the whole web. they are pushing a 24.99 or even 34.99 plan. We say we boycott too!
that soo stupid... i havent called yet, but ill call later today and see what they say
T mo told me since i had a phone not from their network i would have to get the 24.99 data plan and the old one wouldnt work anymore. then seemed as if they were relectant to remove the 9.99 data plan. Whats the deal with that? i didnt change the rules you did!
I am in the same boat. Called and they say I have to pay $24.99. This sucks and I just joined tmobile.
I went online and canceled my 9.99 plan, and now I'm thinking of switching to AT&T 39.99 /mo + pay per MB ($2 per MB) internet. Then I would only use the internet if I absolutely need to. Unfortunately it's only 450 minutes/mo (but with rollover). Anyway, there's no way I'm going to spend $75 / mo for EDGE on T-mo. Ludicrous.
I hope others also ditch T-mo; this was a really underhanded thing they did, especially since we never got any kind of warning.
i may do the same thing, i havent had time to call them and complain about this
Good news, mine started working again today, this morning

i pay 15 dollars for my unlimited data with att ... im so loving this 3g.
I agree, same here, but did you check with tmobile again to confirm that they didn't automatically move us to the 24.99 price? That's the case I'm worried most. But I highly doubt it is so.
I am using T-Mobil's 9.99 TWeb plan and everything works great except for MMS i can receive picture messages but i can't send them. its very weird i didn't have that problem on my Htc Tilt. so i don't know if its a window mobile issue. it seems since i have been using flashed roms with 6.5 i have been having problems. i am going to flash back to original ROM and see what happens. if anyone is having the same issue please let me know, i really don't want to go back to Original rom!!

******Free internet*******

Is it possible to get free internet on g1. I think I do. I have been using it since januray and tmob hasnt charged me nything. I remember changing apn, but I dont rmemeber how I did it.
The reason why I am asking now is I was planning to go back to stock firmware and was wondering if "free internet" gonna work

When I had my G1, I paid for my internet, just like anyone else would. Then I upgraded to a mt3g, and I gave my little brother my G1. I told him the internet wouldn't work because we didn't get him the data plan on his line. Didn't matter because we have wifi at the house. Then one day at the grocery store, he just tried going into the browser, and the internet worked. It worked for about a month until I flashed a different ROM, then it sadly went away.
I even called T-Mobile when it first happened to make sure that there was no data plan on his line, and I never got charged for the internet that he used on his phone. Pretty weird.
I remember when pay as you go plans had free data. It was an oversight by T-Mobile and was fixed within a month or two.

How much can you tether?

How much can you tether out of the g1 data plan? I dont know if theres a limit or not

It is unlimited, but after 5gigs they slow it down, probably to discourage you from using anymore
tether limit
i heard there is a soft cap after 5 or 10 gig but i use a **** lot and never experienced any slow down. i dont do torrents over it tho. any1 know how to set this up? set utorrent (or whatever) to use a certain port?
i used my laptop every day with my g1 tethered and it never slowed down downloaded music and movies on it also
Yeah, I think we would be pressed to find anyone who could say, "I was limited by T-Mobile because I downloaded too much."
Tmo used to have a data cap. It was 3Gb. Most other carriers have a 5-10Gb soft cap. Tmo, however, has removed the data cap, so that unlimited is now unlimited. (unless this has been changed in the last couple months, if so, someone correct me)

It is, just glad that I only use tether very rarely. Mostly when on the road, which is almost never
Unlimited data is unlimited, but this is how it works. After 10 GB, they kick you down to Edge. I don't have 3G here in El Paso, even though T-Mobile claims El Paso is a 3G city (it runs in MOST places only along I-10), so it doesn't matter to me anyway. I'm always on Edge.
My best friend works for T-Mobile and told me about how they throttle you down to Edge.

if they do kick you down to edge i wonder if it is possible to go back to 3G using anycut the way i used to be on 3G only
Unfortunately, there wouldn't be a way, because T-Mobile would be throttling your speed from their end. Your phone would still show the 3G logo, but the speed would be throttled to Edge. When the month is up though, your restriction would be removed.

[Q] Does Web2Go still work for you on N1?

Hi, I've been using Web2Go on my N1 with T-Mobile for the past couple years along with my brother. Today, it stopped working for both of us.
Anyone else have this problem? If so, what solutions have you found for it? Thanks!
BTW we are both also on CM7 if that matters. We're using the internet2 APN.
Thanks again!
It stopped working for me too today.
I thought it was a CM9 thing....apparently its bigger than that
same here =[

Stopped working for another line on my account too.
Had no choice but to call 611 and inquire. They said they will "Upgrade" me to the regular 200MB data plan with no overages and no additional charges.
I asked if they can give me the 2GB plan since they are changing my existing plan for their benefit, they couldn't do it. (They offered a 5GB plan for $25, i.e. $15 more)
Oh well, no market downloads over mobile and limited tethering for me... Looks like Tmo got hold of a majority of the Nexus One IMEI numbers.

Stopped working for us as well.
Changed APN to wap.voicestream.com and its working again!
However, a lot of ports/sites are blocked. Can't access anything Google related, Facebook, Whatsapp, etc.
I'm looking into SSH Tunneling to see if that would fix the problem.
After 2 years of the amazing N1, think I'm going to switch to HTC Vivid or Galaxy SII i777 sometime soon. Yeah, I know I'll only get EDGE for now, but I don't mind. Maybe later I'll get 4G (some signs of tmobile getting ATT bands, but mostly speculation).
mine died today, too. once i get a chance, i'm switching to simple mobile.
Stopped working yesterday in TX.
If I'm gonna pay full price for internet, might as well get me
phone that can handle 4G.
Just wanted to also chime in. I'm in TX as well and I haven't had data service for the past two days. It was nice having web2go for 2 years, but I'm going to move towards just not having a data plan anymore, go prepaid, and use a usb stick whenever I travel for data.
My only other option would be to try to jump onto the $30 / month walmart plan -- gah I'm so tired of cellphone companies.

That may be an option, but that's effectively a downgrade that makes me rather consider switching to (gasp) at&t.

Did you try configuring it to use the old proxy that the wap apn used?
If you're going to get another phone, I'd check the hofo wiki. They have a list of phones that have 3G ("4G") on AWS but are compatible with tzones.
TMO will probably never get 1900MHz 3G all over, just in a few places.

(Q)Tethering on prepaid

I purchased an at&t go phone Sim card because our bill was almost 1000 dollars. Is there any way to enable tethering on the wap apn?
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda premium
Holy cow, how did you manage to clock up such a massive bill?!
Anyway, if you're on a custom ROM without the tethering block, you should just be able to turn it on and go. It should work as long as you have a data connection.
If you're on ATT stock, and the tethering check is still in place, I don't think you're going to have any luck unless you actually add tethering to your line. I know GoPhone supports ATT's standard messaging packages; I don't know if they do the same data packages.

Insurance replacments, about 3 actually. Go phone doesnt support this phone at all in fact its not supposed to have data at all apparenty because lte phones are not allowed to use the go phone service because AT&T sucks. There words. I couldve done straight talk but this is only a temporary solution till i get paid friday and straight talk doesnt support lte does it? OH and i do have the 500 MB smartphone plan for 25 dollars which is a rip off to the max so taht should work in theory right?

In theory, yes. As long as the phone has a working data connection and no tethering check in place, it should let you tether, as inadvisable as tethering is on that plan.
