[Q] Xperia Z2 Tablet dock with battery (like ASUS) - Xperia Z2 Tablet Accessories

Hi guys!
I am planning to change my ASUS Transformer TF300T for a brand new Xperia Z2 tablet, and I want to know one thing...
ASUS Tablets have a docking station with keyboard, USB ports, card reader and a built-in battery. I would like to know if there are similar products for the Z2 tablet aswell...
I would like mainly the keyboard with the built-in extended battery.

Hi,
I've made the same search before I bought my Z2. I also came from an Asus Transformer.
Unfortunately it seems that nothing similar exist at this time.

Can you please answer me a few questions about the Z2 Tablet?
- How is the battery life of the Z2 Tablet compared to the Transformer?
- How is the camera compared...
- How is the screen compared... ( IMHO the Transformer screen is rubish...)
- How are the speakers...
And now some general questions about the device...
- Do you have the 4G model? How is the 4G speed and coverage?
- Does the tablet overheat?
- How well handles multitasking? (Ex: High end game, a few tabs of Chrome, Facebook, Youtube, etc...
- How well is the waterproof protection?
Thank you for taking time to read all the questions. I really appreciate.

Well, can anyone reply to the questions above?

You have posted general questions about the device in the accessories thread, in a reply to a post most people wouldn't be interested in reading. Try creating a new post in the questions thread, and maybe wait more than a day before complaining no one has done you the favour of kindly answering your questions.

Ok, thanks.

- How is the battery life of the Z2 Tablet compared to the Transformer? Much better, even considering you have 2 batteries on the Asus.
- How is the camera compared... Better, more practical and easy to add effects (if you're into that kind of thing...)
- How is the screen compared... ( IMHO the Transformer screen is rubish...) slightly better.
- How are the speakers... Better
And now some general questions about the device...
- Do you have the 4G model? How is the 4G speed and coverage? 4G, and excellent coverage.
- Does the tablet overheat? Very hard to overheat, as the tf700 is easy to overheat.
- How well handles multitasking? (Ex: High end game, a few tabs of Chrome, Facebook, Youtube, etc... Couldn't compare it with the tf700, they're different world's absolutely, even considering that my tf700 has the cromi kitkat.
- How well is the waterproof protection? Didn't test, but read good things about it from people who did.
Thank you for taking time to read all the questions. I really appreciate.

Welcome!
Where the Sony excells is on the software: very fast and the best battery, management I've seen. I have the Asus TF700 and the samsung S4. Sony's software is far better.
Also the wi-fi coverage is muuuch better, even though the tf700 was very good already.

I have the TF300T. The NAND cells in the memory are rubbish... Very slow read/write speeds.
The Wi-Fi coverage, is good I must say, and also the speakers are very good, with powerful sound and bass... The camera is good, but it has some problems with focus after you use it a little, but I must say the screen is useless in the sun. I had my TF300T 2 years ago, and it was the best tablet you could buy under 300 Euros.
This is the reason why I'm looking to buy the Z2 Tablet. The TF300T started to lag on my favourite game (Real Racing 3). My TF300T has about 4 hours 100-0% intense gameplay with Wi-Fi on. How much can you play 100-0% on the Z2 Tablet? Can you post a screenshot?

Usually I don't play games, I could say to you I have about 3-4 days of battery with wireless always on, sometimes 4G, sometimes Bluetooth audio and average 1 movie. Playing about 20 minutes of dead trigger consumes about 7 percentual points of battery... The wi-fi coverage is the best I've seen on any device (and I have a lot!!!)
I don't have enough time to check 100-0 playing, sorry. But let me know if you have other questions.

Hmmmm... 20 minutes of Dead Trigger drains 7% of battery? That means 2 hours and 20 mins eats about half of the battery. How is the screen brightness set? Is this with Wi-Fi turned on?
You got the 4G model? How is the 4G coverage/speed?

4G is good, wi-fi is always on, GPS off, synchronization on, brightness on auto always.

I've been looking for the same, but so far haven't find what I exactly want. The Sony one looked promising, but it was abandoned...

Ok, thanks!
Maybe someone else has a different oppinion...

[Q] To buy or not to buy?

So, I have a S3 and have been a long samsung supporter, untill now...
I have met about 5 people that had S3 and all of them (me included) have broken the display and I am a very cautious user, mind you.
Besides I have a major battery issue, in a normal day usage I always find myself without any battery left to end the day and this has been a great dealbreaker.
After I got a tablet z (Best tablet I ever had BTW) I got a lot tempted to buy a sony phone but I wouldn't want to buy something equal to S3 and there is the xperia link that is also something of an interest for me...
That being said, I tend to be on the power user side of the fence, I mean, I like my toys to be fast and efficient!
So I am in a moment to decide if I buy Z1 or wait for Z2...
The z1 normally last about 6 hrs of on screen time for me and it s wonderfully built phone. It will be a great addition to your z tablet. I don't know how much they can improve on the z2. It already has one the s800 top cpu/gpu, top camera 20 mp, 1080p screen, 30th may battery. It won't be at least 7-8 months if that from now for the z2. And either qualcom release a new cpu or a faster variant/ beyond 1080p screen, better camera.

I'm sorry but it doesn't have 6 hours screen time.. Its only if you get 0% brightness then you have a chance of getting 5-5.5 hours screen time and this is just web surfing apps etc and no gaming.. I've got 3 hours tops and that was turning everything wifi when not using it and was taking quite a few photos...
I always get over 6 hours. Screen on medium auto brightness, general reddit and forum browsing
BTW how is GPS lock?
Then I will consider it as a good purchase.
Does any of you have any experience with xperia link?

[Q] Sony Xperia Z as a business phone (daily driver)

Hi All,
I've been considering switching BBerries @ work to Sony Xperia Z for 2 reasons - 1. Android & 2. Apparent resilience to shocks, accidental drops
I've had several friends buy Xperia (TX mainly) and they reported a lot of instability. I'm generally advised against getting one for business purposes.
Now I've got more experience with Samsung phones and AOSP so my question to the community is. How good is the Z out of the box. Would you advise to flash a specific stable firmware or just going vanilla?
Lastly how's the resilience of the phone? There are some impressive videos on youtube as well as underwhelming ones (mainly due to the plastic protector that scratches super easily)
Oh and I'm open to suggestions as well for other models/brands (requirement is running android 4.2 at least)
Thanks

Is it that bad of a phone?
I have Go and Z as daily phones. I work for cnc & industrial maintenance. So far (about 10 months) both phones has survived without major failures. Few drops and lot of moisture and harsh environment. Best thing is you can rinse phone with water it it gets dirty. I would recommend to get GOOD screenprotector and for Z just some simple cheap case which you can replace if it in bad shape.
Only thing is using phones with gloves on. Basic thin gloves are ok but usually gloves with protection against sharp objects won't work.
And also speaker is the weak spot. Some of my friends clean the speaker with magnet if it gets dirty. I haven't tried this yet..

Thanks for your reply. Have you experienced any software bugs, restarts, etc? Do you have your email pushing to your phone all day over 3G? How's the battery life?
Thanks!
With Stamina mode on it's day to three days. I use K9 with listmail widget and it's working ok. No real problems, and using with dock it's good for office use. Depends quite lot of Internet usage and other stuff. But no real complain yet. Just new keyboard is not so well suited compared to old T9.

That's quite a lot of battery (if it even gets close to 2 days) What about without stamina mode on?
I love Swiftkey for keyboard. Give it a try
I just wonder if it'll last from Morning till Evening (6am - 8pm) on 1 charge with several calls a day and emails syncing all day as well.

Easily. I get 5 hours of screen on time on my phone, so a few calls and emails syncing will hardly touch the battery.

Just to be sure, are you talking with or without stamina mode? In my experience Data eats quite a lot of battery life particularly when syncing all day. It oftens prevents deep sleep if you got bad reception.
And is there a 'better' firmware for the phone? I seem to see various issues with 4.3 on the Z

Screen on time isn't affected by stamina mode, as stamina mode only activates when the screen is off. Stamina mode only has a negligible affect on battery life in my experience in any case.
If I use my phone normally, ie make a few calls, send and receive a few SMS and emails with some internet browsing, then I normally have in excess of 80% battery remaining when I get in at night. I have all syncs enabled at all times.
The usage you describe will never drain the battery in a day.

The Z has a glass back and front screen. I cracked my screen while the phone was in my pocket during a meeting. Maybe the ZR or the ZL may be better suited for you if you tend to keep the phone on you/ on surfaces that may cause it some shock / damage, unless you're purely interested in water resistance... In that case, the Z1, Z1S, or the ZR may fit your requirements....

Oh, I was under the impression the Z had the same protection as the Z1, ZR, etc (except for the difference in water protection)
FullHd screens draind battery like hell.
I also use z as primary phone for work. 3 exchange accounts connected via push settings, linkedin account and also every kind of messaging application works on background. (Working international, everybody uses different mesaaging system, so i have to install all of them.)
Also social media applications like facebook, twitter, instagram, pinterest etc etc.
Bluetooth sbh50 connected allday. At least 3 hour call and 3 hour music over bluetooth device.
Several remote connections made with phone. Also wifi hotspot in day time.
Still i can get one full day with one charge.
I've allways set my device to one kind of network. 3g always.
if you use 2g/3g/lte section, phone will allways look for faster network in area. That mean your phone allways in search mode. That might kill your battery in several hours.
That situation is not for only xperia z, search mod will kill all phones.
Just keep in charge while you are sleeping, keep battery for when you need it. If you sleep and recharge for tomorrow, let your phone to sleep and recharge for tomorrow.
You might also consider to get Z1S. 720p screens more battery friendly. I have also xperia sp. Definitely more battery frindly because of screen.

I appreciate the details. May I ask what firmware you're on as well? I may consider the Z1S. As a reminder this is for use at the office by my colleagues who have been on black berries so far. So obviously they'll complain about the battery. But the scenario you described puts my mind at ease.
I'm using latest version .569.
But still if you compare with blackberry all smartphones will take lower battery usage. Because of blackberry devices a little dummy phones.
How big your screen you will consume more power, how fancy and complicate your device, will consume more power.
Recently my company renewed all phones. All blackberry users are still happy because of more friendly and powerfull phone.

[Q] Should I buy Z3-C and Common Issues

Hi, I am looking to switch my phone from LG G2 to something different.
I am looking at Z3 Compact along with some other alternatives and would like to know common issues (both software and hardware level) in this Z3-C before making decision.
Also adding my primary usage:
- Net surfing
- Watching Videos
- Good battery life (LG G2 was awesome in this criteria)
Please share your experience with Z3-C and should I get it or instead save some money and get the Z1-C?
Thank for your valuable response.
Well if you're gonna ask in the Z3C forum you're gonna get alot of bias
But my first impressions are really good so far. Surfing is a very smooth and amazing experience overall. I personally dislike Chrome so I'm using UC browser HD. But, and that's the thing: No matter what app you use everything is silky smooth! With my SGS3 I was very limited with browsers because ~70% where just a laggy mess. Z3C handles everything with ease. So browsing will only be limited by the app you chose, the processing power, the display - the hardware side is very capable.
That also goes for watching videos, the display is very good in my opinion. I had to get used to it after using an Amoled for 2 1/2 years but you can even tune the white balance yourself in the display settings so you decide how you like your whites. Of course I wouldn't wanna watch a full movie on it or something - the screensize is a little on the small size for that. But obviously that's why we are buying the Z3C Power in a smaller size.
Battery life: Amazing. I used the extended battery with the SGS3 which made the device heavy and very thick (~1cm) and it got me through 2 days with about 4-5h screen use. I'm running my Z3C on its second cycle now and I'm on the evening of the second day with 19% left and an amazing 6h 40min screen time. And that's while heavily using it - setting up apps, testing games and emulators with BT controllers, making quite some photos/videos, some phone calls etc. I'd say you should easily get through 2 full days.
I don't know alot about the Z1C but I'd get the Z3C for the double tap to wake alone

I preordered my Z3C last week especially because all reviews highlighted the best in class battery life, camera and usability (size).
Reading the first reviews of peeps here on xda I read about the display that is easy to scratch, the edges that come off when you drop the device, the volume of the speakers that is too low, etc.. I don't know if people here are a bunch of whiners or if the phone really is that sensitive.. Probably people exaggerate but I'll find out soon myself since I should get it this week (I have no regrets whatsoever, I still want the phone)

The thing is I wont get warranty in my country. GEnerally I have seen Sony to be unreliable in term of hardware (always shows up issues in mid-long term period) and also they are very slow with os updates and does not even give updates after some time, where as htc nd sammy gives fast updates nd supports for 2 yrs.
I did like the phone's specs nd all. The size is perfect for me as well.

They've gotten faster with the updates. And I'm guessing it will further improve in the future since they are not going to release so many low-/mid-end phones anymore, if any.

Despite a handful of reports of cracked glass and chipped bezels, this phone is still the #1 candidate on my list. When I buy one, I'll probably get one of those crystal-clear hard-cases for it. Doesn't hide the sexiness of the phone.

[Q] Still worth to buy?

I am going to buy a new android cellphone tomorrow and after too much research Xperia Z1 is the phone that fits my budget to its worth with specifications. So my question is after approx 1 year is it Still a value for money? Are there any issues i should be worried about?
My alternate to this is LG G2. Thanks in advance.
Get the G2!
You will get a bigger screen, thinner bezels, Better battery life, double tap to wake and it's smaller than the z1
And the z1 has an annoying problem with the touch screen where it stops registering touches for a little while (unimaginably annoying when it happens during scrolling) and the screen looks yellow, that makes my head hurt
G2 have those touchscreen problems too (as I heard)
Maybe you should check on the LG G2's Q/A section and see the problems there (if they have one).

I don't have touch problems. And it will get lollipop update. And don't plan to change it soon
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Free mobile app
I would find it hard to recommend this phone to anyone.
Just to add to the issues seen by some
I have touch screen issues, in fact the whole screen is crap. The colour and brightness aren't anywhere as good as my wife's Galaxy Note 2 (yes, Note 2, not a typo. A phone more than a year older than my Z1 has a better screen). The touch screen doesn't work properly at all, you just get used it it. It's not accurate and slow to track movement of your finders. Add to that the fact that it seems to completely ignore your touches when you've been using the phone for a bit (possibly temp issues?) and it makes playing games impossible... and like @masterofnocrack said, when your dragging or trying to flick through a long list, it randomly selects something from the list and you've no idea what you just tapped on, it gets more than infuriating.
Locking up - my phone will decide at frequent times to lock up. It will not turn on from sleeping (screen off, standby, whatever it's called). I had resorted to holding VolUp+Power to force it to reboot but then found out that if I just wait it will come back on it's own. It's like some app is using 100% of the CPU and lock's the OS up. I seemed to get the problem most of the time when running apps like Endomondo where it keeps tracking GPS etc while in standby but since uninstalling Endo, its still the same. Not really a Z1 issue but more Firmware, but still a nail in the already tightly nailed down coffin. Also screws with Tasker (see below)...
I did have issues with the OS killing background apps like Tasker (which is really annoying because if Tasker gets killed, all my profiles and settings got messed up so I could be out of the house with no mobile data enabled or in the car with no bluetooth), but I rolled back a ROM version to fix that. (I'm on stock ROM/Kernel but rooted.)
I would sell my own children for a new phone, which is probably a good reason I don't have any kids.
Look somewhere else. If the G2 drops out of the running too, keep looking. DO NOT get a Z1.
I know some will disagree and perhaps think I'm being a bit harsh; and if you've got a Z1 and it works perfectly, good for you and congrats. But knowing what I know now, I wouldn't take the chance of getting a Z1 that has issues.
I have no clue what you are talking about. My wife and I both have a Z1. Hers is running on stock and mine on custom. We never had any of the issues mentioned above. So from my point of view it still is worth the money.
Some have problems and others don't, but it's it worth the gamble?
The OP should save up and get something better like the Z2 or Z3

The answer is.. Yes!
The Z1 is still hell of a beast, performance- and battery wise, around 1 year after release. It's bang for the bucks phone nowadays. Get it, and fine tune it to suit your likings. Nuff' said.
I am willing to help you out with the fine tuning, if you get this lovely ****er into your collection..
I didn't mean to piss on any one's camp fire and I'm glad for @memphis77 that his and his wife's phones both work perfectly, but I know from these forums that there have been plenty of users that have had issues, and even those that have pursued the issues with Sony have just been sent a refurbished phone that had the same issues.
It's just my opinion and personal experience that makes me say do not get a Z1.

It's so beautifull and powerfull. If you love this phone, so buy it. You won't regret it. And of course, it's still worth to buy
I'd say it depends on what you pay for it. I bought mine about a month or two ago for a little over 250 and I couldn't be more pleased.
One more thing to add, and once more, YMMV; piss-poor data rates. WiFi signal is weak at best. The WiFi signal goes down to 1 or zero bars in some rooms in my house but doesn't actually disconnect from the WiFi so the transfer speed is so slow I turn WiFi off and use either H+ or the odd 4G signal I get. You might be thinking "well you're obviously too far away from the router you pillock." Well, maybe an upstairs room is too far... maybe it's not. My wife's Note 2 can still use the WiFi all over the house, my Tab 4 can use the WiFi, my Raspberry Pi with a cheap ass god damn WiFi dongle off eBay can use the WiFi, but not this piece of crap phone.
In a decent H+ signal area, an iPhone 4 beats this with download speeds using mobile data. I have gotten 20Mb/s on 4G (1 bar in my house which was impressive but a fluke as I've never seen that speed again). Looking at speedtest results isn't exactly the be and end all of deciding which phone to get, but it's just another area this phone fails.

Get the G2!
You will get a bigger screen, thinner bezels, Better battery life, double tap to wake and it's smaller than the z1
And the z1 has an annoying problem with the touch screen where it stops registering touches for a little while (unimaginably annoying when it happens during scrolling) and the screen looks yellow, that makes my head hurt

my screen is yellow too, but there is a white balance option and now my screen is perfect :3

[Q] Whether it is worth to buy xperia z in 2015

Hi to all.
I'm planing to by another phone. Budget is limited so there is not to much to pick.
Xperia seems good option because of big screen, LTE connectivity, premium design, important to me a very good camera and at the end is a flagship, but an old one, and that is my only concern.
So, my question is, should i by some newer(new) budget mid ranger or should give a try to Xperia Z? What is your experience with XZ?
Thanks
Ive had mine for a year now and do not intend to replace it any time soon. It runs all the current apps and games!
If your budget is tight, then get a Moto G, or OnePlus One or Nexus 5. Plenty of well specced devices around.

I bought mine 1 year and a half ago, and I can't be happier.
It's an excellent phone, great processor, ram, camera, water proof, design, development ( I had Lollipop from 1st day like a Nexus ), fullhd, 5"...
No need to spend 500€ to get a "rocket" smartphone.

Thanks guys for the reply, for now is tight.
I would like to hear more opinions of owners.
What about screen on time? Now when is for example more then one year old? I don't play heavy games, mostly surfing, taking pictures, little facebook, and a lot texting and calling. And flashing roms of course
For me everything over 3 hours is good.
U can get maximum of 4.5 hours if u r not a gamer ( my experience with games 4 hour screen on time).. May b u will get around 5 hours screen on time if u play with some tweaks..
I bought my XZ this last year in November and I couldn't be happier. Ok, screen on time is not the best out there but, at least for me, it's enough. SOT performance goes between 3-4,5 h, which IMHO I think isn't bad. You could also underclock/undervolt it in case you want to expand its autonomy a bit else.
It depends on the price you are getting at, I would say go for z1 if the price difference is minimal. I've used both, choose the one in your budget
dont buy a Sony phone, they about to go out of business lol
I suggest no.
Xperia Z has following cons:
- Back glas went off due to bad glue.
- CPU throtthling while gaming due to thermal problems, games start to stutter. Device is getting hot while gaming. On 4.4.4 it a little bit better.
- Wifi and Bluettooth disconnects. Search for forums with this problem. You will hate that problem when you decide to get a Smartband. There i no fix for that.
- Weak Battery. I heavily modified my stock rom with tweaks for longer lasting battery, i reduced wakelocks, etc, but still only 1,5 days only with normal use (i dont use LTE). It loses too much battery on standby.

So you came here from the HTC forum, proud of that you succeeded in unlocking the achievement? I find this behaviour a tiny bit bizarre, wondering what are you trying to prove? I mean, if you worship HTC, please remain in your little temple there. There's plenty of terrorist everywhere and nobody needs another one to come, terrorise Xperia or potential Xperia users.
Back on topic:
If you like Sony, just get another Xperia. They're not going out of business anytime soon as if anyone bothered to read, they're exploring (highly unlikely though) to start a jv or selling the business to another company. Of course if that happens, which have a remote chance, you're probably still be receiving smartphone support in the new business arrangement.

- Back glass just fine, over 1.5 years old
- Name one device that doesn't throttle (and doesn't stutter while throttled)
- Wifi and Bluetooth fine as long as you don't use a smartband
- Battery life is average, not really bad but nothing special either, standy is great with the right kernel
Thats my Xperience, no major problems so far.
But really better deals for the money out there.
I guess it depends on the price..
But in today's terms the XZ really isn't great. Like others have said, newer mid-range phones have overtaken the XZ.
Battery life has always been the only major drawback for me using the XZ. In this day and age you should be able to use your phone as much as you like, not holding off reading emails / replying to tweets otherwise it'll die before you get home
You're lucky to get 4 hours screen on time, it's not exactly efficient in standby mode either.
the amount of money you are going to spent just get One Plus One or if you are on budget cost wait till you got abit more money to get a better device
Well, it's a wonderful phone, the main issue with it is the battery
As others said if your gaming is at minimum (1 hour Max a day) you can actually get it to work 8 hours, even more if no gaming and used the stamina mode
Other than that, it's easy to root at all times and relatively easy to flash and customize.
And it will be officially update to lollipop.
I say if z1 is in your range get it only for the battery issue.. If not the XZ is great
Z is a great device.. But u can also buy 1+1 since it has Z2 specs and a better front cam.. It lacks Water resistance like XZ though and the multimedia features won't be like a SONY.. So choose ur needs first and then select the one suitable.. Although i haven't experienced any of the issues which are mentioned in the thread yet.. I hope i won't too.. But still my XZ can beat the s**t outta One M7 & all their desire phones, any iPhone, any S**tsung.. If you are a rough handler of the phone, i suggest u to buy XZ coz its built better and 1+1 seems kinda delicate compared to Sony..

Weren't you the one telling me I don't know what I'm talking about because of spelling mistakes?
G1_enthusiast has quoted you on xda-developers!
I'll believe you once you learn how to spell and put in some correct punctuation.
lol what company hire this moron? he cant even finished a sentence correctly.
I most probably will take XZ if i get good offer. But also maybe wait for month or two to see what will came out.
I also considering to buy SGS4 but i prefer Sony over Samsung. Only reason to take S4 will be the battery life. But like i said before i can live with 3+ hours of sot. Currently i'm using LG O4X which have vary bad sot. 2:30 is max that i can get. And all kind of problems with RIL, it's really "demanding" device, thanks to developers i still using him, but i think not for long.
Thanks

Can you spell out some of those mid-range phones that are better than the XZ? my GF wants a new phone, and i cant seem to find a device thats as thin as the Z, has a fullHD 5" screen and 2gigs RAM and a 5.0 update for similar money...
this really isnt a sarcastic question. I just want to know what are those mid-range devices with these specs, so i can buy her a better phone and save some cash?
btw with heavy usage my Z never died on me until i came home(which means the whole day). im sorry if you use battery hogging apps that dont let your device sleep when you turn off the screen...
@Tommy-Geenexus
Do you really suggest that old spec phone to buy someone, with known not solved software problems on top of serious casing and thermal design flaws?
There are better options on the market. For that money you can have a LG G2 or a Galaxy S4 or a Honor 6 or One+ One.
